I have training at this Kinnelon Sport and Fitness Club since the gym changed ownership from NYSC. (Was a member at NYSC since pre opening membership drive)
The new ownership has made so many improvements since the NYSC days when everything was getting worn out.
Best of all the equipment is always working now. If something breaks they fix it .
The owners seem to really care. If something is wrong it’s not for their lack of effort.
Maintenance staff is very polite and super busy. Pool is warm and clean. I see there are so many great reviews, they deserve it!

What a terrible experience. I have FitOn (formerly PeerFit) through my benefits from work. This gym is on the map for eligible gyms to purchase a membership for with the monthly credits I'm allotted. I purchased a membership through FitOn, went in the next day to finalize everything and work out. The front desk kids couldn't find how to enter FitOn into the membership portal, which is no big deal insurance stuff is annoying. Linda, who I'm assuming is a manager, came out and could not be more rude telling me they don't take FitOn and that she's never heard of it. I showed her that they are on the list of eligible gyms and she again continued to be rude telling me that no one there has ever heard of it and that they won't accept it. Left frustrated.

Contacted FitOn to receive my credits back, and that they do in fact work with this gym. They told me that they would contact Kinnelon to help set up my membership. A week has gone by and Kinnelon has yet to get back to FitOn with any sort of communication, including ending their relationship with them. Maybe they should focus on getting more members in by any means to replace a lot of their outdated equipment instead of running prospective members out of the gym.

Went to cancel my membership completely willing to pay for the following month as that’s what is in the contract. The manager begged me not to cancel as it would upset the owner and make her look bad. She asked that I freeze it indefinitely, I told her as long as I don’t get charged again she could do whatever she wants. Needless to say I wasn’t charged for 6 months and then the charges started again. When I called to discuss she denied ever telling me that and said freezes only last 3 months(really? Then why wasn’t I charged for 6 months. Charged once put on freeze again and then charged again) she lied right to my face. I asked her to have the owner contact me thinking maybe I could work something out with him or least bring the issue to his attention, and nothing no call no contact. Is this how customers are supposed to be treated. After years of me being pleasant, supporting them, telling so many people in the area that they’re nice people and the pros of the gym never the cons. Never again, I’m going to let everyone know to avoid this place at all costs until the owner tries to resolve it. I feel so violated by my experience here it’s disgusting

"I absolutely love this gym! Having taught classes at several gyms in the area over the years, I can confidently say this has become my favorite place for fitness. The people here are simply wonderful—friendly, welcoming, and such a joy to be around. The management is fantastic as well, always ensuring a positive experience for everyone.

I have been a member since Kinnelon Sport & Fitness opened. This gym is by far the best!
I'll start with management, Angie and Vinny are top notch...always greet us with a smile, very helpful with questions that we have, they make the gym a fun atmosphere and everyone feels like family. I am very thankful for all that they do.
The instructors are AMAZING!!! I go to the gym everyday and there are so many classes to choose from.
I HIGHLY recommend this gym to anyone who is interested in joining.

I'm genuinely so confused why it is so hard for them to get the sauna situation right in the women's room. Thank you for finally fixing it but before it was broken, the temperature was barely hot at all, then broken for almost a year, and now it's fixed but it must have an automatic shutoff because it is always turned off. I come into the gym, turn it on so it is hot at the end of my workout and it's always turned off when I go in!! I'm so tired of this. The whole reason I joined this gym and pay $53 a month is for the sauna...there are definitely nicer gyms out there that don't have rust on their machines. The least you guys can do is just keep up with the amenities! Most gyms the saunas are turned on 24/7.

the gym itself is ok. some of the machines are broken and outdated and the pool needs a facelift. the staff is nice but I had a terrible interaction with the owner. I gave my 35 days notice of cancellation but was still charged at the end of my membership. I was also not given a month's credit for referring a friend which was a promotion when I signed up. I informed the manager and the owner called me back. He didn't understand the error that was made and when I corrected him, he blew up. I believe I was being polite but he accused me of going crazy and asked why I was making such a big deal over such a small amount of money. He also threatened to hang up and not refund my money at all. Usually when a business makes a mistake, they acknowledge it, correct it and not make the customer feel bad. I'm not sure what put him into such a rage. It was the end of the day and maybe he was having a bad day, but that is no way to treat a customer. He did refund my money.

A big shoutout out to Lisa at the front desk, I come to this fabulous gym every morning at 6 A.M and it’s a nice feeling to start my morning out with a friendly smile, welcoming greeting, and a soft shower towel.
If you are looking for a gym, the instructors here are top-notch too! If early morning classes are your thing, Spin and Strength Interval Training Classes are held every morning- Debbie, Lisa, Louie, and Raney are all awesome instructors. I have also gone later in the morning and occasionally in the evening and Roe will whip you right in shape! I have heard great things about the rest of the staff although I have not taken their classes.
This gym is a “win win” lots of classes, lots of choices and you’re welcomed with a smile! Angie is the manager that I spoke to when I first joined and she is also super friendly and accommodating. Reach out and she will answer all of your questions! Do something nice for yourself,
You won’t regret it and this gym will make starting a workout routine an enjoyable experience!

I was a member of NYSC for years along with my family members. We were excited kinnelon fitness shed new light on the available space in the area! Fresh paint new light fixtures & friendly staff, clean facilities & space to work out! Added juice & smoothie bar which I think is neat & convenient

I’ve been a member since the week they opened, and have had only one complaint, I sometimes have my session is cut short cause I get too deep into conversation w the FRIENDLY STAFF! They are amazing! From maintenance gentleman, the house keeping staff I always see in the locker room wiping down the facilities washing floors etc, front desk staff who makes it a point to say hello and goodbye as I enter or exit. The child care lady is always friendly & is a miracle worker with kids!

Some of the equipment is used from NYSC but I had an issue one day, mentioned it to front desk, manager said she would have it handled & was polite, 30 seconds later the maintenance gentleman was moving along to fix it & had it done no problem! Never had an issue outside of that.

All in all it’s a clean family friendly environment, these people who complain on google must have been the issue. I’ve referred multiple to this gym & have never heard once of a problem!

This facility is terrible. Dirty and composed of rusty machines. DO NOT GO HERE. Not worth the price. You pay 53$ a month for old rusty machines that are never cleaned. I requested to cancel my membership and they charged me an extra month when I don’t use the facilities. Threaten my credit score if I refused to pay the extra month. Staff is rude and incompetent.

The women's sauna has been at 110 for a while now ...please raise it to at least 170! Most gyms have there's at 190.

Also please clean equipment! Squat rack and hex bars have rust all over them and my hands are covered every time and plates don't go on well.

Updated after 1 year of membership. What I like: Clientele - young and old, various fitness levels, male and female, opposite of 3 other gyms I looked into. Layout - very large (previously a bowling alley) one floor, spaced out, a lot of light, separate pool area. Staff - friendly and helpful. Place is kept clean. Equipment - good variety and enough, though could be enhanced and updated. What needs improvement: Maintenance of some things are not attended to, such as men's locker - light bulbs out, shower fixtures loose, door missing, a few lockers unusable. All 8 elliptical machines incline mechanisms are broken - confirmed by others using and staff. One has been completely broken for over 2 months. That said, I reported an issue with two exercise machines (with weights) that was corrected immediately. Cost is higher than other gyms, but they offer a discount in some cases. The negatives are minor in my view, and I recommend this facility.

I live right up the street. When NYSC closed down I went to LA Fitness. $30 a month and unlimited access to any club in the country. I heard someone had taken over NYSC so I went to check it out. It was literally the same gym/old outdated equipment, but instead of the $25 a month I was paying for NYSC, they wanted $53 a month! Yeah, being able to walk to and from the gym would be awesome, but for $53 a month, I’ll stick to the gym I can use pretty much everywhere I travel. I hope they owners make it, but frankly you’ll have the usual people who decide they don’t want to go anymore, and then they won’t really get many new customers at $53 a month. It’s really just not justifiable

we had been members for two months and had a medical emergency, needed to cancel and begged not to be charged for NEXT MONTH because we literally cannot afford food or rent at this moment.

we were met with "iTs iN tHe CoNtRaCt" nonsense about why they will be stealing 100$ from us on next month.

they didnt care about the fact that we were people whos money will be needed for food or housing, nor that when money gets better we will need a gym again. Well it certainly wont be here

This gym is basically just nysc with a more expensive memebership price. $50 a month for broken machines, rusty machine pins and a dirty locker room and sauna. Oh let’s not forget the old people taking machines from you even though you put your stuff right there. I’ll give props to the owners who had a good idea to reopen the place but come on at least get new machines if you’re gonna charge $50 a month.

Was just going to join the gym for a month to use the pool for an injury. Went like 10 times and have been charged $247.47. The charges are inconsistent. I started my membership at the end of March and canceled when I started and let them know again in April. The gentleman at the front desk informed me you have to give a 30days notice, which is ridiculous, but I said ok and I did but I guess they never put it in the system from the beginning. Here I am almost June still getting charged. $63.84 3/26/23 for a couple of days (thought they were prorating me as I started at the end of the month), $53.31 4/1/23, $76.81 5/3/23 and again $53.31 today. I cancelled mid April “officially” and was overcharged and when calling your gym, they said “yeah, well”. I made it very clear on joining that is was a temporary membership! Only reason I’m not leaving a one star is because some of the young staff were very nice.

I am thrilled that a gym opened up at this location. Moved to kinnelon 2 years ago and was sad that the gym had closed right after. The gym has everything you need: classes, pool, sauna, all sorts of weights and equipment. The Zumba classes are really great! That was a big reason why I joined… Zumba superfan! My only request would be an added Zumba class on Saturday and maybe a juice/shake bar.

To be fair I can't give an actual rating since I haven't gone in yet, I just wanted to leave a comment regarding the high price. I loved NYSC for years and was sad when it closed. Another local gym opened with brand new equipment that's more spacious and has been great. I was shocked when I heard KSFC was opening with all original equipment and with a price tag almost double what it used to be. I wanted to try it out but I could never join due to that high cost. Hoping they'll consider adjusting the cost so more people can join

I love this facility because it has the same setup of the previous gym. Gym has a ton of potential but charging $53 for a month is insane. $25 for a day pass is legalized robbery. If this gym were $30-$40 they would probably thrive in business. It’s a nice place with more than enough equipment for everyone’s needs but some of the staff definitely has to work on how to treat customers.
