Update: I appreciate the quick response, but that protein bar sat on the floor for almost the whole month I was a member.
This place is dirty. Starting with the garage. It's ran terribly. The staff isn't helpful. It's overpriced and overcrowded. Sometimes the bathroom toilets sit there unflushed and dirty for hours. There was a half eaten protein bar that sat on the floor for what felt like weeks. Even other members started to take pics of it. I posted a pic of the infamous protein bar. It became something of a celebrity. Awful experience.

After years of proudly swimming, NOW the pool is for WALKERS. I have bad knee,
Swimming is only fitness exercise I can do. Paying over the medicare amt.
What to do. I travel, so I k ow it is THIS LIFETIME
This is in addition to previous comment of walkers...
Now water in 2 out 3 pools is freezing. Too cold to swim, evidence by empty pools. REDICULOUS.
I CANCELED MY SENIOR/24HR. MEMBERSHIP. Save 127$/month
Found a new location, with great pools.

I have the absolute best experience training with Heather Gordon at Lifetime. She is fun, hardworking, and always puts together creative, effective workouts that challenge me while keeping things enjoyable. Heather is incredibly encouraging and has a natural talent for motivating her clients to push past their limits.
She is especially skilled in Pilates, and her workouts have not only made me stronger but also helped me feel more confident in my abilities. I always leave her sessions feeling energized and proud of the progress I’ve made.
Heather truly cares about her clients’ success, and it shows in the effort and passion she puts into every session. If you’re looking for a trainer who is knowledgeable, supportive, and makes working out something to look forward to, I can’t recommend Heather enough!

A very nice gym that used to be great, not so any more. they have sold so many memberships there are times you cant find a parking spot. once you get to the weight room some machines are awaiting repairs for weeks. They have too few of the most popular weight machines. Then they have trainers in the middle of the the floor screaming into loud speakers.
All this from a gym that still charges premium dues; not an upscale experience in the weigh room.
I have a membership at LA Fitness down the shore and it is a much better experience at a fraction of the cost.

That is the worst experience ever at Life time in NJ as New jersey most well known gyms which it should be advertises inclusivity and family values we had been unequal treatment especially around our children , as a middle Eastern member, it's not just about feeling judged while in place the discrimination extends to our Kids particularly at the swimming pool where the treatment can feel humiliating and deeply unfair multiple times.
We have seen the difference in tone . The extra rules . The cold stars our children are made to feel like outsiders for simply playing, splashing or laughing- things that evey children should be allowed to do on pool designed for families.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. I was one of the founding members of this place when it first opened. I was a member for about those first 1-2 years. I then moved out of the area. I was under the impression it was a great gym.
I just came back this father's day weekend to the area, and needed a haircut. I used their day spa - that was great enough, and deserves the 1-star, otherwise it'd be a zero considering the ratio of floor space.
I received a small tour of the facility after I feigned interest in rejoining (I no longer live in the state). 250+ a month now for membership of this place? I was there mid-afternoon on a Friday and it was filled to the brim with people. Completely over packed, and with people waiting to use equipment, especially the weights. A lot of cardio equipment seemed to have seen better days too. The locker room was a mess with towels everywhere, and definitely had a bit of a funky "smell" to it. The indoor pool and outdoor pools seemed well maintained though, at least from first glance.
Given the lack of exclusivity at this price point, the way that the actual GYM part was upkept, I have to give this just a single star. I remember barely paying over $100 a month for this place. $250+ for a single person? They're out of their fricken minds.

5 Stars for the Best Facial Experience Ever!
I had the absolute best hydrofacial with Alyssa! From start to finish, it was unlike any facial I've ever had. Her face massage was heavenly, truly the best I've ever experienced. The products she used smelled so good and felt so luxurious on my skin, I honestly felt like I wanted to eat them! Her extraction technique was incredible, super effective yet gentle. This wasn’t just a regular facial. Alyssa delivered a full sensory, deeply relaxing, and skin-transforming experience. Can’t wait to go back!

Disappointed After 3 Years at Lifetime Fitness
I’ve been a Lifetime Fitness member for 3 years, it’s been really underwhelming and overpriced for most of my time here and l now I will actually say something about it. I just received an email a few days ago from the GM saying my monthly dues are going up by $30 starting June 1st. Not only is that less than 30 days’ notice, but what if I don’t agree to this new change that wasn’t part of my initial agreement?? Are you just going to charge me without my consent? Every year since being a member I received an email that rates were going up, but not to worry since I was “grandfathered in” to my rate. Apparently this increase is to “cover upgrades,” and I should be so grateful bc newer members will have an even higher increase according to the GM. Some of these new upgrades consist of a working space with a vertical garden. I come to the gym to workout and this place is looking more like a WeWork space rather than a gym.
Don’t get me wrong. $30 isn’t much and I’m happy to pay for a better experience, but this gym is not providing a better experience in my opinion. If anything my experience continues to decline with every visit. It is extremely overcrowded no matter what time of the day you come. They continue to accept new members despite stating that they have a “waitlist”, I see front desk giving new people tours every time I’m in. Why do tours of the gym if you’re not taking new members?? The locker room also always crowded. People sitting around using their phones so you can’t even comfortably access a locker and get changed. It’s mind boggling to me. The sauna which I love to use, also always crowded. Not to mention people entering with their shoes all the time, and leaving their dirty towels behind. And don’t get me started with the children all over the place and sitting on gym equipment using their phones. Maybe I’m biased because I don’t have kids. I’m a young professional and going to workout would be my escape from the stress of work and a busy work day. Coming here gives me more stress. No one ever cleans their machines after use, specifically the stairmaster that everyone sweats all over. The members at this gym have by far the worst gym etiquette out of any gym I’ve ever been a member at and I think a big reason for that is that they aren’t true “gym enthusiasts”. This is more of a family activity center that happens to have a weightroom. The high end premium experience you’ll find at the lifetimes in NYC or Equinox, is simply not here. I’m also flabbergasted as to the sudden price increase when they’ve continued to accept new members even though they said they were putting that on pause. They are way over capacity yet have the gall to increase everyone’s dues. The overcrowded gym is exactly why I put my membership on hold last summer.
I would never write a negative review about any business. I simply just stop patronizing them, but to casually email your members and basically tell them you’re charging them more and not ask them if they agree with the new terms is simply unethical and unprofessional. I will escalate this if my membership is not canceled before payment for the new dues are in effect.

Kids academy is unsafe for young kids. Everything they said in the tour about adhering to ratios and keeping toddlers separated from older kids isn't true. Very minimal supervision, mostly teenagers with more kids than they could possibly manage. I emailed the GM about it, no response. They also added a fraudulent swim membership to our account and keep charging us even after canceling our Life Time membership. Rest of the gym is nice, its about double the price of what it's worth but its run like a low end Planet Fitness. Equinox is 100x nicer and well managed, not even close.

This review is particularly for Christine at the front desk. She is an absolute gem and truly goes the extra mile to support the members. This morning I forgot my water bottle and since it was before 5am, the cafe was closed to purchase a bottle. Christine, looked for someone to cover her front desk and found me in the women’s locker room to give me a cup. She may have no idea that her kind gesture allowed me to get my full workout in and completely shifted my morning. Thank you, Christine! 🩷

Too much hyped of this gym. I joined lifetime while ago and it’s always crowded. Equipment machines are not latest. There are better gyms in the area around this price. I was really shocked to see the price of the membership and then condition of the gym. It’s just like they opened the gym and then forgot about to maintain with the latest equipment. If it was planet fitness I wouldn’t have been shocked but paying this much money monthly. I expect the management to maintain with the latest equipment.

A good variety of equipment and ammennites. The staff is always very helpful. The club is busy most mornings until about lunch. I prefer going in just after that time. The men’s locker room gets a bit messy at times, but that’s more an issue with members not cleaning up after themselves.

I was one of the founding members at this gym when they first opened. In turn, I was grandfathered into a membership they didn’t hand out anymore and I loved it. This place got me through some tough times after becoming a widow.
My daughter outgrew the kiddie academy and hated going so I asked to pause her membership until the pool opened again after the winter.
They said ok and that was it.
A month later when I checked to see what my membership went down to it actually went up. ALOT! Like double.
When I approached management they told me since I made a change in my membership they discontinued my legacy membership and signed me up for a current one without telling me.
Of course I went in and complained that nobody told me this was going to happen prior to me pausing my daughter’s membership and I was pretty much shrugged off after being a member there for years. “We never go backwards” I was told. I tried to stick it out but everytime I walked in I just felt the resentment of their shady business tactics and eventually I had to cancel.

I'm still fuming after the appalling treatment my family and I received at Life Time Bergen County. As a guest of a current Life Time member, I was initially impressed by the facility, but our encounter with Wyatt in the Kids Academy was a deal-breaker. We will not be back, and we encourage others to stay away too.
Let me first detail the unacceptable treatment of our children. Wyatt checked in our kids at Kids Academy and then demanded that I obtain a guest pass from the front desk. I let him know I am a guest of my friend's, and he just scanned her membership pass, but nonetheless, we went to the front desk for the guest pass. At the front desk, I was then informed this would require a $20 fee per child. This was surprising and contrary to my friend's previous experiences, as she has had guests at Life Time before, and has never been charged when they said their kids to the Kids Academy.
We politely declined and informed the front desk that we're going to collect our belongings from the locker room, then will pick up our kids. They acknowledged this is perfectly fine. Upon leaving the locker room to pick up our kids, we were horrified to find my kids standing at the front desk, looking dejected and confused.
When my kids saw me, they immediately expressed their desire to leave the premises. I learned that Wyatt had abruptly removed them from the kids' club, telling them they had to wait because "your mom didn't pay for you." Furthermore, he did this in a condescending manner. This was not only rude but also humiliating for my children.
While I understand the need for policy enforcement, Wyatt's choice to be rude and condescending is inexcusable. His actions were not only unprofessional but also damaging to young children. As a parent, it's infuriating to see my kids treated with such disrespect.
Unless you're willing to shell out hundreds of dollars monthly to be treated poorly, stay far away from Lifetime Bergen County. The combination of discriminatory practices, rudeness, and unacceptable behavior toward children makes this facility a hard pass for my family.

I just found out, that because we are 65+, we cans only register for AURORA pool class a week in advance. The registration starts at 11:15 am. At 11:25 this morning the class was filled and was no waiting list. I was told that for Albany registration we have to have a different membership. And I suppose more expensive one. It is extremely disappointing. I consider it a discriminate practice. We only got this membership so that I can exercise on the pool. We tried a yoga class several ago and were severely disappointed . So at this point i cannot in good conscience recommend Life Time to anyone. I will just tell them our experience.

Came here 2 yrs ago under the impression this was a “high end” gym. It’s far from that and I’m considering canceling as I don’t see the value in paying $200 per month. It’s over crowded, too many kids and teens. They have like 4 benches in the weight area that get monopolized by high school kids. The sauna is always packed and the patrons have very little or no gym etiquette. No one cleans up after themselves, and the gym itself is never that clean as I’ve seen at many other places. The stairmasters always have some technical issues. Either the calorie count doesn’t work, or steps climbed etc. They have a sign that no one under 12 yrs of age should be on the gym floor without a parent/adult, but the place is swarming w kids. It really does take away from any high end luxury experience you expect from a Lifetime. This gym really does not match the Lifetime brand at other locations and even though the membership is amongst the lowest for Lifetimes, the offerings are not commensurate with the cost of the membership.

We pay north of $500 a month. This is the situation, towels overflowing, dirty toilet that I didn’t even want to take a picture of. The only reason for the two stars is because my child does swim team and has great coaches. I can never get a lap lane for my own swimming even on off hours because there are people who basically come to float for hours at a time. There should be a reservation system for swim lanes. Do better.

The decision to admit elderly members on Medicare has created a significant disparity in the gym's atmosphere. While charging a premium for an upscale experience, the reality is that the availability of amenities, particularly swimming lanes, has been compromised. The gym's management needs to address this issue to ensure a fair and satisfactory experience for all members.

There's a troubling trend at the gym where the acceptance of new elderly members paying with Medicare clashes with the concept of an upscale experience for all. This discrepancy becomes glaringly evident in the scarcity of swimming lanes, as older members occupy them for extended durations, impacting the quality of the gym's offerings for those who pay a premium.

Lifetime prides themselves for their customer service while having zero. Signed up for swimming classes and day care for my special needs son. We did the swimming classes for two months on autopay. My son had to have a surgery done that didn’t allow him to swim anymore for some time. I was still charged after I asked to pause payments. I asked for a refund for the months I was charged. It’s coming up on a year now and I still haven’t gotten a single call back after speaking with dozens of different people every few weeks or so. There is so much turn over no one can stay on top of my request or be bothered to look into it.
Additionally, very strange as a new customer with my child at the daycare I had to escalate to be able to see the rooms where classes were held. We actually weren’t able to see the classes at all. Very troubling as a parent leaving your special needs child with strangers. Another time at the day care I sat back to see how the care givers were, I noticed my son was upset about something and was yelled at “get away from me”. My son has behavioral issues and is hearing impaired so this was especially troubling.
In conclusion, we couldn’t trust staff to leave our child there or get our money back.

After years as a member, I will be cancelling my membership. Let me paint you the picture of the issues going on at this gym. For years the men’s shower pressure was very low and many members complained and management did nothing. Then the gym was doing some construction and the men’s and women’s locker room swapped with one another for a few days. When we started using the women’s locker room we noticed their water pressure was excellent and for years of complaining on the men’s side, they did nothing. Now that everyone knew, they increased the water pressure on the men’s side. Another issue is I just found out that they are increasing my membership dues by $20 again for the second time in the last 2 years from $179 to $200 by an email from manager Joseph Allard stating rate is still $20 lower than that for new members. How can you continue to increase rates when a lot of gym equipment keeps breaking down and you don’t fix it, Showers are always dirty, no staff wants to work there because of the way they are treated, as others have mentioned underage kids all over the place cursing and harassing members, people of color are looked down upon and treated differently by staff, personal trainers charge an arm and a leg for sessions and hardly help any of their client from what I’ve heard, on top of that I’ve seen personal trainers and clients laughing at members who aren’t using proper form to lift instead of correcting them because all they care about is the money they are getting paid, basketball courts are filled with teenagers who will run full court games and don’t let other members play on the court, they have made half of the weightlifting area with like 25 power cages for deadlifts/squats etc geared more towards younger kids and very little equipment and machines for older clients, dumbbell area only has 5 adjustable benches that are always taken, pool with bandaids floating around and kids for lifeguards, no cold water in the showers if you want to take a cold shower, enough is enough
In all honesty, this gym has potential, but when management at the end is a business that cares more about increasing dues every few years to profit off the working class who work hard to come here and are treated like garbage, it’s time to find another gym. Many other members have had enough and are leaving when you start charging monthly dues close to $300 a month soon. I guess only the upper wealthy class will be able to afford this gym soon.

Honestly just awful place to workout if you’re a young professional. Kids and teens all over the place 24/7. If you don’t have kids, then this place will just feel like an after school special. It’s like cheap babysitting for parents. When I get out of work I want a more zen environment, but you enter the locker room and it’s full of teen girls and younger screaming and carrying on. FaceTiming friends while in the sauna, and in the locker room invading your privacy . I was nude in the sauna and a 10/12 yr old girl was FaceTiming her friend or bf.
Even the weight area has kids that look under 10 on equipment. For the $200 a month price tag, it def does not have the luxury/ high end vibes like other luxury gym. This place caters to kids and families and Kids/teens will sit on equipment scrolling through social media knowing ppl are waiting for them to finish. Will probably just go to equinox instead. My suggestion is they make a separate area for just kids and teens separate from adults. These families are alienating anyone else that comes here for a luxury experience and doesn’t want to workout w kids running all over the place. The place is always so dirty too! I walked out to about 4 different stations for wipes all of which were inaccessible. Ppl on the stairmaster never wipe down their sweat. Just gross!

I love this place. Lifetime is the creme of creme of gyms. The classes (surrender), fitness instructors(Karina), open workout floors, the locker rooms were always clean (clean showers), sauna and steam room..what a delight. If you could afford it great but the membership is a hefty price tag.

I'm a member who comes there to play basketball with a group of friends, who also signed up for basketball and working out. In the recent months there has been a massive push with pickleball and they take over the basketball courts. There is no one to talk to about this from management and they seem to not care about the basketball people who come there to play ball. We are all planning on canceling our membership since there is no action from management.

I have been a member of the LifeTime Montvale club since November of last year, and I really want to highlight Justin Sosa. He is a tremendous asset to this club. He truly cares about the clubs members, which is evident in his thoroughness and patience during onboarding. Beyond that, he goes the extra mile to answer questions and greet guests with warmth.
I highly recommend Justin for his membership concierge expertise for anyone that is looking for a welcoming and supportive end-to-end experience.
Thank you for all of your help.

Trainers and staff are super nice and work hard to please the members. Facilities are great and they have a variety of sports and equipment to please everyone. I hear the kids facilies are great and the children love the activities.
Management lacks, though. The club in Westchester is not very clean and we constantly have to show them what is broken or missing before they call maintanence to fix it. Maintanence is reactive - not proactive to keep the club in top conditions. Toilets are not self flushable and faucets are from the 90's. For a Diamond facility - it comes short of expectations.

It's one of the nicer gyms in the area. I prefer it because of the steam room, sauna and the pool.

Place is great. However, the service is another level of nasty. The people working at the gym are great. Behind the scenes, the office workers were terrible and really need to learn to treat the members better!!

Wanted to give a shout out to Justin at Montvale who even though my friends didn’t have an appointment for the gym tour, he took the time to explain and review all the questions my friends had to join the gym.
He was friendly, patient and knowledgeable!
I personally have been enjoying being a member of lifetime!

Shower pressure is non existent; for the amount of membership fees we are paying, are you really trying to save on your water bill? Went for initial personal trainer visit with Sean who made me do a couple of stretches to start with. When I asked that I want help with my squat form, he said squat press machine was better. And then he said that he could be hired for $300 an hour. Insides of lockers need to be cleaned more as notice dust and debris. They just increased our membership dues in June and said we are still paying $20 less than new members. Please increase shower pressure so I don’t have to wait an hour for the soap to be rinsed off my body. Beside this gym is clean and equipment is nice. Hard to find parking close to entrance during peak times. They have an indoor parking garage but the walkway to and from the garage isn’t covered so you still get soaked in the rain. Playing basketball during pick up games on weekends is dangerous as many of the kids will intentionally foul you and when you call a foul they get upset and try to instigate a fight. Gym has a lot of potential but a lot of issues need to be addressed first

Went with a friend who's a member to check it out. The gym is awesome. They have a large variety of equipment, such as a jungle gym, hoops, bands etc , plus multiple machines for each excersize, including a large amount of benches & racks. The lockers rooms are huge. I didn't get to use the nice sized wet and dry sauna, or the enormous pool.

Its a good gym, was a member for a bit pre-covid and during covid but man it does get packed, this one isn't like their flagship in westchester, this was the one I came from so it was as "good". Worth the price of admission if you use it frequently.

I hate to be a Karen. But this place was the worst experience I’ve ever had. My Girl and I specifically joined this gym to get trainers for ourselves and my trainer cancelled his first two appointments so I never had a chance to even train. My girls schedule wouldn’t work with one of the other trainers and the trainer told her “maybe you should join another gym.” After stopping at the front to see if I could speak to management they were never available(too busy chatting with there fries in the office) I tried calling and leaving a message for the GM still nothing. I figured I would try and reach out to the Fitness Manager and again nothing from the FM. I’ve never seen a place so hard to give them money. I guess they don’t need my money. So sad. This place is not worth the money. Terrible experience

Joined this gym along with my wife. I am an avid gym goer so I was excited for all the great equipment. I learned quickly that this is more of a hangout than a gym. I routinely had issues with the trainers taking over the equipment for their personal use. many times the trainers would just stand in front of equipment laughing and joking amongst each other not being respectful to paying members. It got to the point where it was unbearable so we canceled our memberships. That's where the fun started. we gave our notice, and then was billed for the following month. we called, and the charges were reversed. then 2 months later we realized they had continued to bill us. so once again we called, they reversed one charge and left the other. so , again we call. they assured us the other charge would be reversed. after several days it was not, so again we call. this time the woman on the other end of the phone was very condescending and put me on hold. after 10 minutes I finally hung up and called back to an answering machine. then I get an email saying my membership was canceled on that day, negating the fact it had been cancelled over 3 months. so I call again. this time they again reassured me all charges would be reversed. I have been going to gyms over 20 years, in many different states and this is by far the worst I have seen in member services. this place is a high school hangout. definitely not worth the money. on the other hand, the Florham Park location is the complete opposite of this one.

Overcrowded and overpriced. They run classes at the busiest times of the day (9am on weekends, 5pm on weekdays) in the middle of the gym, taking up either all of the squat racks or most of the treadmills. Also tons of teens doing essentially everything but working out, and I’ve never once seen a staff member address them.

LifeTime Fitness is a great gym. The location in Montvale, NJ is awesome. Facility is very clean, very modern, and has all the amenities for which one can ask. The staff is very nice and helpful. The parking is plentiful and with the parking garage, you can keep your car fairly cool in the hot summer. The outdoor pool is a very good size and a great place for a family pool day. Can’t speak highly enough about the gym and the staff.
