About the Club

Premier 1-on-1 and small group personal training with over 12 years of experience. If you're looking to lose weight, get stronger or reduce pain I will guide you step by step to your goal. I currently train people of all ages and fitness levels, from beginners with no exercise experience to athletes at the high school, college and senior levels. I have extensive experience helping those with pain and various orthopedic issues. Clients can work with me pre- and post-
surgery for knee, shoulder, and hip replacements, lower back pain and a variety of other mobility issues. If you're a golfer, baseball player or racquet sport athlete we can work on power, flexibility, agility and balance to improve your game. Availability is limited.

Matt is a fantastic personal trainer! He kept me focused on the exercises and kept challenging me to do better. Matt is a phenomenal personal trainer and educator! I have known Matt for many years and have always consulted with him for information on proper exercise technique, nutrition, and general health and wellness. So, when Matt opened up his own studio offering private personal training sessions, I was immediately on board. To start, his studio is immaculate. He has all of the equipment you could possibly think of and then some. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and organized. You can tell that he takes good care of his space.

I have gone to over five sessions now and can say that I have learned more in those five sessions than I have in my 10+ years of independently working out. During my first session, Matt assessed my fitness levels and took note of my short-term and long-term goals. Since then, Matt has exceeded my expectations. When I walk into each session, he has a perfectly curated exercise plan for me to follow. I do not have to do any thinking (or loading or unloading of weights because Matt does everything for me), which makes the process so much easier and enjoyable. The knowledge that I have gained in this short period of time is unbelievable. To learn that some of my past issues were due to improper technique was actually relieving because now Matt could help me correct them.

I look forward to each and every session not only because of the knowledge I gain, but also because of the new ways I am challenged both physically and mentally. I recently started training with Matt, who has opened his own business as a personal trainer, and I couldn't be more impressed. Matt is the most knowledgeable and personable trainer I've ever come across. He never judges where you're currently at in your fitness journey and always pushes you to try new things. He explains which muscles and exercises are targeting what, making each session incredibly informative.

Personally, I've been dealing with lower back pain, and Matt showed me various exercises and actions to improve my form in exercises like squats and hip thrusts. He truly makes you feel like the most important client in that moment and genuinely cares about your overall health.

I live in Westfield and have been looking for a good personal trainer to work with for some time. Recently, a dream job opportunity presented itself to me and part of the process involves a grueling fitness test. After failing my first attempt, I did not know who to turn to for guidance. I have trained alone for years and had never been open to working with a trainer until I reached out to a former client of my father who highly recommended Matt. I reached out to Matt that same day and briefly mentioned to him the type of fitness test that I was training for and needed help with. Matt was eager to help in any way that he could and gave me a phone call to schedule an evaluation. While speaking over the phone, I could tell that Matt already had done his homework because he knew all of the events and scoring system structure of the fitness test. In my opinion, this is one of the many instances in my short time working with Matt that accentuates why he is different from other trainers/fitness coaches. It showed me that he cares about each of his clients. So much so that he takes the time and goes the extra mile to learn each individual's goals and circumstances that helps Matt formulate a personalized fitness plan. This level of care and detail has led myself and others to achieve their fitness goals. After scheduling an evaluation with Matt, the following week, I arrived at his newly opened gym, Matt's Fitness Solutions in Scotch Plains. It is a very clean and well-kept gym with high-end equipment. During my evaluation with Matt, the first thing that we did was sit down to discuss the fitness test in more detail and I explained to him my current training regimen. With that information, Matt was able to introduce me to exercises that targeted the areas that I needed to strengthen and work on before my next test that was less than one month away. Not only did the evaluation and meeting Matt in person exceed my expectations but he took the time out of his day to write me a follow up email of our evaluation. The email summarized what we discussed during the evaluation, and he took it a step further by detailing the workouts (Reps/Sets) that I should focus on in the limited, short time that I had to prepare. From the evaluation, Matt understands each client's unique physical condition and crafts a plan that is realistic and achievable. His educational background and credentials speak for itself, as he carries a wealth of knowledge in the areas of fitness and nutrition. Additionally, Matt always made himself available for me, whether I texted him a question or gave him a call to schedule another session. Matt truly cares about each person he trains and has the opportunity to work with which separates him from other trainers or fitness coaches out there. If you are looking for a high caliber, knowledgeable, easy to work with fitness coach to help you reach a fitness goal or in my case achieve a milestone that serves as a steppingstone to living a dream job of mine, I would strongly suggest that you contact Matt Scofield. In only one session with Matt, not including the evaluation, I improved my score by 9 points in less than ONE month. I cannot speak more highly of Matt as a person and trainer. He has played a vital part in my fitness journey that happens to be a requirement to achieving my dream career path. I plan on continuing to work with Matt and hope that you can see what makes Matt different from his peers.
