I love the Max Challenge. It’s clean, the people are friendly & the classes allow you to work at your level 10 energy level & capability allowing you to succeed at your pace. There’s plenty of classes and they record them so you can do them from home if you can’t get there.

My husband and I joined The Max a few weeks ago and we couldn’t be happier. The owners and the trainers are incredible. Not only are they all super knowledgeable, helpful, motivating- they are just as nice to be around. The workouts are top notch, always different and always kicks our butts in 45 minutes! The members are also super helpful and motivating- we have met such great people so far. I had our son 4 months ago and I needed something to get my body back and this is definitely the place! I’ve been a member since April 2017. This program really works. I have lost 35lbs and kept it off by following the nutrition and taking the classes. Tracey and Mike are so helpful and knowledgeable when you hit a plateau or need to change something that may not be working for you anymore. The trainers are all super knowledgeable supportive and always willing to help even if you need to modify an excise. It’s a very welcoming atmosphere and whatever time you go the class always has great energy. I highly recommend the Max of Berkeley you won’t be disappointed. It’s so much better than an ordinary gym.

The Max Challenge of Berkeley is the best gym around! The workouts are fun but challenging. The instructors are encouraging, creative, and keep you motivated. The workouts are planned for you. You don’t have to think about what workout you are going to do. I love working out in a no-judgement with other people just like me. I have been going for over 6 years! Honestly, it’s the only workout routine I’ve ever stuck to that has transformed me inside and out. Giving 45 minutes is the best thing I can do for me everyday. Keeps my body and mind healthy. The Max of Berkeley is so much more than just a gym or a lifestyle. I can honestly say it is a family. The people I have met in my 3 year journey have truly become my family inside and outside of the gym. On days I can’t motivate myself to work out there is always some one with an encouraging word. This is by far the best type of workout for anyone who wants to be a better version of themselves. The professional trainers guide you through every exercise they have thoughtfully planned for you everyday, so there is no guessing what you need to do, you just have to show up.! The amount of times I made excuses for why I didn’t workout or change my lifestyle are uncountable. Playing sports for a lot of my life I was lucky enough to have someone tell me what to do and when to do it.. I’ve been talking about joining for years to where it almost sounded like a joke. I have always gone to gyms with machines and tend to slack off probably because it is repetitious and gets boring. Best gym ever! Everyone is so nice and inspiring. Facility is clean. Classes are designed to meet all abilities/levels with awesome instructors who know how to push you to your MAX. I especially love not having to think each morning - what exercise I should do, how long, what intensity, what music, etc. They tell us what to do and we do it. 45 mins later, we're exhausted, but feel great. Only regret is that I didn't join sooner!

My husband and I have been members of Max Berkeley for almost six years. We are so happy we joined for so many reasons. We love the workouts, the trainers and the results. The workouts are challenging yet can be modified for anyone of any fitness level. The instructors are knowledgeable, patient and truly care for your health and goals you are seeking to achieve. Everyone is welcoming from the staff to the members. They offer a balanced and sane nutrition plan that is easy to follow and reasonable. I’ve belonged to many area gyms in the past and have worked out for most of my teen and adult life. Before joining, my lower back was suffering from 40 years of running . Since joining, my core and back muscles have strengthened significantly and my chiropractor misses me! My husband recently had both knees replaced(at the same time) due to wear and tear from 40 plus years of heavy construction. His surgeon agreed that he was a candidate for both because he was so strong from the workouts at the Max. After a brief hiatus he is back and feeling wonderful and pain free. If you are struggling with something, the instructors give you modifications to keep you moving and still get results. The workouts are developed and led by the trainers. All you have to do is show up and smile because you will be so happy you did!!

The Max Challenge has been an amazing experience. The work outs vary every day so you don’t become bored. They are challenging but in the very best way. The schedule is great as I need to go early in the morning due to work commitments (no excuses!) The trainers are fantastic and really care about your journey. I really enjoy The Max Challenge of Berkeley.
The workouts are fun, the location and hours are super convenient and fit a diverse array of schedules, AND the coaches are all super helpful with giving advice on nutrition and on form during the workouts. Second to none! If you are looking for a fitness center that isn't like the others, join the Max Challenge of Berkeley! The first day I walked through the doors four years ago, I immediately knew something special was about to happen. It’s like a magical fairytale … a gym with the most loving and caring owners and the best trainers that are genuinely there for you and make your fitness goals their goals. You are welcomed with open arms and supported through all your successes or failures and that goes well beyond the 45 minutes on the mats. There’s no judgement when life (or yourself) gets in the way, they are just happy that you took the step to walk back through the doors and come “home”. It’s an unconditional fitness family, who is motivating, supportive, down to earth and realistic. They acknowledge that sometimes life is hard and you get in your own way but they also believe in you more then you believe in yourself and it shows. Through the ups and downs in life … the Max is the one constant that you can always count on to be there. Mike, Tracey and Joe are the ones that gave me enough confidence to start and the rest of staff and members is what makes me stay. Thank you Mike, Tracey, Joe, Carly, Brittany and Hannah for bringing that special charisma to the center that makes everyone at the center love Berkeley so much. The Max Challenge is a great program but you guys make it so much better with your positivity and genuine love for each and every member. I joined the Max 2 years ago and have lost 70 pounds and have managed to keep it t off because I attend the classes, most of the time in the center but also virtually when needed and I love the classes wholeheartedly!
The owners Tracy and Mike are very caring, kind and very knowledgeable. They treat all the members like family, the staff also are just as great, they’re always willing to take time to help during a workout and to give advice afterwards on nutrition, etc.
I’ve never been so committed to any gym like this
I’m constantly motivated by the staff and also the members, I have Never felt judged by another member or any staff, we all support one another and are like family. Okay so I signed up for the max 9 weeks ago and at first I was very hesitant bc of all the reviews stating “family” and what not... I just didn’t think of a gym as that, but now that I have actually been a part of it—I can definitely see The Max exactly as that. I used to be a gym rat when I was younger.. in the best shape of my life. Then I had my son.. then I had health issue after health issue happen and I lost myself. I was overweight and out of shape. The Max of Berkeley is more than just a gym. When you sign those papers you not just gain access to the mats but you gain an entire family! I started at the Max January 2019 and at first I was beyond nervous to work out in a class type setting; however, when I first walked in Tracey & Mike greeted me with a smile and made me feel super comfortable! The Max Challenge of Berkeley is the best thing that has happened to me. All the instructors are very welcoming, and helpful. The Max gives me structure and a great foundation for my everyday life. cant stop wont stop love it

The MAX Challenge program has given me my life back. I am a chiropractor who has been making people feel better and live healthier lives for almost 40 years. In 2011 I had a minor car accident which caused some back and neck issues. By 2016 I had undergone 2 neck surgeries and 1 low back surgery. Through all of that I never missed more than a week of caring for my patients. I stopped exercising, became sedentary, and put on 20 lbs. I still thought life was good. I could work, take care of my family and still do most things I wanted to do. The problem was I never felt good. I was in pain every day. I had no flexibility or stamina. I met a friend who just finished his first challenge at the MAX and had lost 70+ lbs. So I reluctantly gave it a shot. The first week was the hardest thing I had done in years but I stuck with it. In a very short time I started feeling like I was being productive again. Moving better, eating better and having more energy. I didn't even care about losing weight but that started to happen as well. Fast forward 1 year. I'm down 24 lbs and at 63 I have more energy than I ever thought possible. I feel really good and now when I have pain it's because I worked hard and it's a GOOD pain. Make the commitment and do this for yourself, no one else. It's FUN, it's EASY and you don't have to think. Just show up it WORKS.
