Thelis is the best! I was searching for a while for a trainer that offered flexibility and the ability to work out from home. Thelis is able to curate a workout plan to my exact needs and how my body is feeling. After the 12 week program I feel so much stronger and the results were shocking.

1000% recommend trusting Thelis! She helped me lose ~11 pounds and back close to my original weight within 4 months by jumpstarting my metabolism again!
I had gained ~15 pounds during the pandemic that I was unable to get rid of despite my tried and tested methods that I used before the pandemic to stay fit. I’d put off some weight only for it to come back - it was a defeating cycle. This led me to seek a trainer.
There are a few things that I love about Thelis:
1. She focuses on bodyweight strength training which was a plus for me as I wasn’t a fan of machines and I wanted to learn a workout not dependent on a gym
2. She was proactive and focused on pain management and form adjustments which was important to me as I have lower back pain
3. She was the only trainer who saw the “extra fat” I was hoping to shed during the consultation. This sounds silly but if a trainer can’t see what you see, they can’t help you accomplish what you want to accomplish
4. She had a holistic plan across nutrition, cardio and strength training that she had confidence in!
5. She’s a clear and direct communicator who sets expectations appropriately. As an example, I had switched to a vegetarian diet during the pandemic, and we had an open conversation about what progress and pace I can expect if I chose to stay vegetarian vs not.
6. She seeks quality (which I do too)! This is in the form of her seeking quality ingredients but also referring me to quality other providers (e.g., chiropractors).
7. She helps you learn about nutrition and ingredients along the way - I love this topic too so I was excited to learn and get more curious about what I was buying at the grocery store.
8. She helped me incorporate her nutritional guidance into my eating habits. As an example, I cook a lot of Indian food so we found ways to adjust what I was making so I can still eat what I want with some simple tweaks.
9. Most importantly - she’s FUN, motivating and challenging!!
In terms of the results beyond losing the 11 pounds:
1. I feel MY BODY is controlling my eating habits - not MY MIND! It’s much easier to eat better when you don’t feel like you’re forcing yourself to. This is maybe because as I started eating cleaner and reset my body to that level with Thelis’ plan - my body isn’t craving the salty (e.g., cheese is my vice) or sugary things. In fact, I can now literally hear my body yelling at me after I do eat such in the form of bloating, churning, etc. The Mind-Body-Experience (MBX) is possible!
2. I feel MUCH BETTER in my clothes and I found love for shopping again.
3. I’m seeing much more definition and tone in my arms, shoulders, legs, and abs.
4. I feel less bloated, more energetic, less pain in certain parts of my body, & overall more confident!
5. I was getting bored of eating out but now I look so much more forward to eating out again because it’s my “cheat meal” and I get to intentionally choose my treat (just like a kid!)

My husband and I have been working out with Thelis for the last three months and she has been absolutely fantastic. I was hesitant at first about working out virtually and our workouts being effective for both of us simultaneously but she has catered our workout / nutrition plans to each of us individually. She thoughtfully instructs and corrects our form via video – It has worked far better than I ever anticipated. It has been very convenient for us to workout at home while keeping us accountable and committed.
She is extremely thoughtful about injury prevention and form – I have always worked out on my own ~3-4 times a week, but I have found her twice-a-week workouts to be targeted, efficient, and much more effective than what I was doing before. I feel so much stronger and have been steadily increasing the weight I’m lifting, which is rewarding. I also know my form has improved meaningfully, which will help prevent injury in the future. We’re going to continue working out with her going forward because it’s been so effective.
I didn’t do as good of a job on the nutrition element as I had hoped (summer and socializing got in the way!), but she has been holding me accountable and is always encouraging me to pick back up after a weekend of indulgence. I will keep at it and I know that with her support, I’ll continue to improve.

My wife and I have been working with Thelis since July and it has been a great experience! We recently got married and had done a workout program / diet plan before the wedding which had great results but wasn’t sustainable. We heard of Thelis through a friend who had great things to say about her workout and nutrition program. I was initially skeptical about how effective the workouts would be over zoom and whether we’d be able to stick to the nutrition plan but 4 months later I could not be happier with the decision!
First the workouts - the zoom workouts have turned out to be great because we are able to do them early in the morning before work and b/c we don’t have to travel to/ from a gym we’re able to get an extra 30+ min of precious sleep. She gives my wife and I different exercises to do simultaneously and is able to keep the intensity level high despite not being there in person. Importantly, she does a very good job commenting on form (we set up an IPad on a table so she’s able to see the whole room). She’s also been very focused on injury prevention and has helped me to work through muscle tightness / lower back pain. I now feel stronger than I have in a long time and am able to do exercises I previously struggled with due to a lack of flexibility.
In terms of the nutrition plan, it was a initially a little daunting since it cuts out preservatives and requires cooking at home but if you’re committed the results are real. After only a couple weeks of the plan my wife and I noticed real weight loss but more importantly we also felt great, were sleeping better and had generally higher energy levels. I even noticed a reduction in cravings for super sweet / fatty and processed foods. While we haven’t been able to follow the program perfectly (dinners out, vacation, etc), it’s easy to jump back in and start it again after straying from it. Unlike other diets, the goal of the program is that it is sustainable for the long term and while it’s only been 4 months I think it has changed how my wife and I will approach nutrition for the foreseeable future.

Training with Thelis has been an amazing experience. I was a bit skeptical about how training "virtually" with someone would be at first. The sessions are thoughtful, and intense.
I have been a lifelong gym rat, who, now that I am again, has struggled with injury after injury over the past 4 years. I had a viscous cycle going where I would begin working out again, get some results, get injured, take time off to recover from injury, repeat. It had gotten to the point where i was unsure how i was going to ever start working out again as i really could not strength train (the way I historically had) without terrible pain.
Thelis designed a program around my injuries and imbalances. I was admittedly frustrated with what felt like a slow start in the beginning, but i trusted Thelis, that my "gung-ho" approach to getting back into working out is what was getting me injured, and the core stability and stabilizer exercises, while not very exciting, were the key to getting me to a place where i could workout pain free. Fast forward two months and wow, was she right! I am doing exercises pain free that i would not have dreamed of before we started.
My strength has gone way up, my tennis game has greatly improved thanks to the improved cardio and core strength. I lost 15 lbs and an excited to keep working with Thelis!

Thelis starts every workout asking me how my mind and body feel. From here, she tailors my workouts and meals. The workouts are challanging but Thelis makes them fun and I feel awesome when we are done. MBX recipes and menu plans are delicous healthy meals for me and my family. After the first consultation, I knew I had found a good fit. She took her time explaining things and answering all the questions I had. This was not just your average personal training consultation. We talked through my diet and lifestyle and figured out the best approach to start. I work in the city so we were able to find early morning times that worked for both of us. I started with Thelis at MBX in February in person at the studio. The studio is conveniently located directly in front of a parking lot so there was never an issue with finding a spot. It was very clean, great background music, and I didn’t miss the feel of a "big gym". When COVID hit, we moved to Facetime sessions from home. Two weeks in to the sessions and I was hooked. I was a little skeptical that I wouldn’t have what I needed at home to get a good workout in and that I would need to buy things. But what I saw as a standard boring living room, Thelis saw as an opportunity to get creative! Don’t have a bench to do dips? I used my windowsill! I won’t be able to look at the room the same way but I have not lost the drive and momentum to keep working out and continue my new lifestyle.

Been working with Treytan for almost 3 months so far and finally feel very happy with a trainer for the first time again in years. I had a wonderful trainer that helped me lose 12% body fat and was great to work with many years ago but when I moved away and tried others I was disappointed over and over again. After trying five different ones I was losing hope I would ever be happy with a trainer again and ever reach a healthier weight and lifestyle. Quality trainers like Treytan are hard to find.
Treytan is very knowledgeable about health, fitness, and nutrition. I have learned so much and changed lots of habits based on his advice and seen results. His workouts are getting progressively harder and harder but I feel safe I won’t get injured because he is very attentive to form and logs everything we do to adjust as we go. The workouts are fun and challenging and he always has high energy and keeps me motivated. He’s professional and is always ready with a great planned workout with the studio ready to go.
The program in general is real smart because it comes with a meal plan that isn’t hard to do and truly works. It’s not a fad diet that will leave you gaining it all back and some. Been there before many times. This plan helps you reset and build better habits for good. I feel so much better with so much energy and don’t crave unhealthy foods anymore. I also appreciate the private studio. I feel the big gyms can be very distracting and difficult to focus. I also feel uncomfortable in them especially as I am trying to get to a healthier weight. Being in your own studio takes away feeling uncomfortable in front of many and I feel I truly get undivided attention and guidance.
I feel Treytan truly cares about my progress and loves what he does which I believe is key in having results with a trainer. I’m losing weight, clothing is fitting better, gaining muscle but most importantly I feel hopeful again.
Just signed for another package and plan to keep going and really finally change my life for the better. The quality of life that you get from living healthy is worth every penny.

I just had a workout and I’m inspired to write another review. I recently increased training days with Thelis to four days a week. I can’t believe how much stronger I am and how much I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone. I never imagined myself being disciplined enough to continue this process. I was never able to be disciplined enough to follow though with working out. It took a year of working out to change my mindset and follow the meal plan. I had so much junk in my head that deterred me from committing fully to myself. I wasn’t treating myself well enough to make myself a priority. Once I started seeing and feeling the results- I starting feeling motivated to continue. I then moved to three times a week. That is when the change occurred. I have more energy during the day, I sleep better and I’ve never felt better. I’ve had a trainer in the past that I dreaded going to because their training style didn’t motivate me. Being overweight took a toll on my self esteem and it effected me as a business owner. I’m a mental health professional but I wasn’t taking care of my own mental health. Ive reached burn out and I know how it feels so I make sure to make self care a huge part of my practice. I now feel more confident as I make this a part of my self care routine.The life coach component has helped changed my mindset, setting boundaries, realizing expectations and reaching for my goals. I know it sounds cliche but this program has SIGNIFICANTLY CHANGED MY LIFE. I’ve always said I wanted to lose weight before going to the gym. The private gym setting allows me to feel comfortable without wondering who’s looking at me if I were in a larger gym setting. The workout component is vital but I don’t just come here for that. I come for the support, and I get a lot out of my sessions that allow me to become a better entrepreneur, wife, friend and a better version of me.

I started working out with Treytan about 6 weeks ago. What prompted me to hire a trainer was the desire to get back in shape. I had been working out off and on but was lacking the motivation and proper guidance, so the results were rather discouraging. MBX was recommended to me by a friend who had been working out with Treytan and I had noticed an amazing change in her fitness.
So my hubby and I scheduled a mtg with Treytan and were impressed with him right away. What I also loved about the MBX training was that they do not focus on just the training but also put together a customized nutrition plan based on your goals. We noticed a very positive change in our bodies and energy levels in less than a week of being on this plan. It was absolutely amazing to us. Not only did we both lose weight but more importantly we felt better & had much more energy than we had in years. The combination of this nutrition plan and Treytan's amazing workouts has had a life changing positive impact on us.
Although we did expect that we would get toned and lose weight on this program, what has surprised us is how eating the cleaner foods has changed our eating habits overall. So for us, this has become more of a lifestyle change that our family, including our kids, have embraced.
We signed up for the 3 month MBX program but honestly after seeing the unbelievable impact this has had on our health we know that MBX will continue to be part of our everyday life going forward as well.

Prior to training with Treytan at MBX, I was not into working out at all. I was definitely not a gym person - I could never really stick to anything for more than a few days. I was tired all the time and I had a big roll of fat on my stomach.
But now, I'm leaner, stronger, and that roll of fat is going away! Treytan is like an encyclopedia - he knows so much about nutrition and weight training. He's taught me the correct way to lift weights, and why what I eat matters. I get stronger every week - I'm able to either do more reps or lift more weight. I'm finally taking my health seriously and it's because of Treytan's guidance and encouragement. I feel better all around. I have more energy, my mood is much better and I'm really seeing results. I'm actually excited to work out and I haven't thought about throwing in the towel once!

I started training with Thelis February 2018 and continue to do so. I never thought I needed a mind body coach since I’ve never been over weight, always active and a runner. However after my second baby Even though I dropped the weight really fast and weighed less than pre pregnancy weight i felt very saggy and not toned. I was not happy with my body and at a recommendation from a friend went for a consultation. As of October my BMI went from 38% (feb) to 22% (oct). Lost 2 inches in my waist and toned up my arms and back (no more back fat!). Thelis holds me accountable by asking what I’ve been eating and whether I’ve had slip ups. I talk about where I struggle ie commuting working mom of two and finding time to eat something before I get on the train and she gives me healthy recommendations and guides me on how to make realistic choices throughout the day. She challenges me by constantly increasing weight or building on exercises I’ve already mastered or got used to. Thelis is amazing at her job and puts her all into making people feel better about themselves I don’t know what I did “BT” before Thelis! She comes highly recommended!!

I've been working with Thelis for two months now. I am simply amazed with the changes in my energy, strength, and weight! I really didn't think this much could change so quickly. To be honest, I didn't expect more energy. I was really looking to lose weight and tone the stomach I have courtesy of four pregnancies :) But the first change her nutrition plan did was to change my energy dramatically. I no longer have the daily brain fog I was suffering every afternoon. I am able to do 25% more without feeling exhausted every day. I want to and am ABLE to do things like hike.

t’s been about six months that I’ve been doing the program at MBX, and I love the impact it’s had on me—physically and mentally. Prior to working with Thelis, I had been exercising regularly for several years, but would steer toward cardio workouts at the expense of cross-training and strengthening. The latter was definitely the missing piece of my workout routine, and my neck and back pain was the proof; I needed to strengthen my core back muscles! Working with Thelis has helped me to understand the necessity of a consistent, systematic, all-body workout regimen and to see that simply gravitating to the things I was used to doing and that came easiest to me (cardio) was not enough, and was even becoming counterproductive. Although my diet is reasonably healthy, Thelis also helped me to see the ways I was eating too many carbs/sugars at different parts of the day, and how that impacts mood, focus, and energy levels. Moreover, she has helped me become more aware of my relationship to my body, and begin to break some of the unhelpful and unhealthy patterns we can all fall in to. Beyond that, she’s helped me think through/talk through the various challenges that pop up in life. MBX working for me comes down to Thelis; She’s a very informed, attuned, smart, warm, and relatable person, and she finds a way to balance praise and support, on the one hand, and constructive redirection/reframing on the other. I trust her to help guide me as I take greater responsibility for my physical and mental health, and tackle my recurrent issues with neck and back pain (which is improving considerably!). In other words, my experience at MBX and with Thelis’s guidance has helped me to better care for myself, be kind to myself, but also push myself in healthy ways. Short version:
Treytan has the expertise, attitude, and program I need to stay healthy, perform at sports, and look great for my wife. I trust him completely and you should too.
Long version:
Not getting any younger (47) + have 4 active kids + got into tennis = needed a support system that would increase my strength, improve conditioning, and ward off injuries. I have done the gym, am active, eat well enough, but want to do more than cruise along. I also know myself as a master of excuses when it comes to getting out to exercise unless it's a sport. You guys are correctly thinking this does not translate well for any sport and I was finding new and painful injuries on the tennis court (knee, back, Achilles, bicep, shoulder, etc.). I was frustrated and a bit lost.
Enter Treytan with an organized, realistic, and fun (compared to injuries lol) program that has delivered results. Great start was the non-timeshare-like consultation where he asked about goals and activity/injury history. He then built a program that targeted long-term health alongside immediate gains on the court. I got the recommendation from my wife who has been working with and loving Thelis (and I love those results too).
I've gone 2X times a week for 4ish months and haven't missed a session. Excuses try to interfere but, unlike a gym or group class, I know Treytan's waiting for me and I don't want to let us down. His positive energy is an enabler not a distraction, he's always changing things up before you get bored (hopping Bulgarian squats / rainbow planks today wth), and he documents everything so each session builds your story.
We have leg/back/abs and upper body/abs days. We work hard (10 unique exercises min 2 sets each) but I haven't had one injury related to the sessions. Sore as hell but that's the goal.
Results are outstanding:

I have been working with Thelis for three months and have never felt better! I was sidelined with a knee injury and subsequent surgery in 2014 and it threw my body completely out of whack. I was favoring one side of my body resulting in chronic back and hip pain. I had lost all motivation because anything I tried to do on my own was too painful, or I just psyched myself out. It became extremely frustrating because I didn't know how to help myself.
Then I found Thelis. I was fascinated by her program because her methods are unique (I HATE the gym but she makes it fun), she holds me accountable for my diet and training and encourages me to be the best version of myself. Talking during the sessions is key because it's help identify the root of the issue you're dealing with whether its body or mind. This place has been everything that I've needed! As a busy mom of two I have not been able to figure out how to balance a lot of the things that are important to me outside of my family. This program has really given me the energy and positivity toward myself that I have been needing. Having a one stop shop for exercise, diet and mental health has made it so easy and convenient to prioritize myself and leaves me with plenty of time for the rest of my life! Honestly- I know it sounds too good to be true, but it isn't! After 4 weeks I'm already seeing and feeling the results. Thanks to Thelis for bringing this to Montclair and giving me the boost I've been needing!
UPDATE: After almost 2 more months (3 months total), I am officially hooked! I have always been a generally healthy person, but all my family and friends have seen a big difference in my overall attitude towards things. I feel so energetic and able to take on even the crazy holiday stress in a much more efficient way! I also wanted to add that the massage I got there by John was another welcome addition to my well-being! He does more than just make you feel good during the massage... your body feels more relaxed and stretched by the end so that you can take on exercise and your daily activities in a much less painful way (I've suffered from an achy back since I had children). I made my husband get one as well before we ran a local 5K and during the run he wrote, I never knew my legs could feel this way (and he's been running for years!). Such a positive experience all around, Thelis really knows what she's doing!

I have been healthy and worked out since I was really young, but I was never happy with my body. My workouts consisted mostly of long runs and lightweight circuit classes 5-6 times a week. I met Thelis at the gym and she encouraged me to buy a training package with her, explaining that she was going to teach me how to lift actual weights to give my metabolism a boost (and she promised I wouldn’t bulk up). I bought 12 sessions with her and we got to work – 2 or 3 training sessions per week depending on my schedule. Plus I was hiking and running on my own 3 times a week.
Honestly, I didn’t change much about my eating habits since I was already pretty healthy, so all of my results came from lifting weights, learning how to do exercises properly and also using my time at the gym wisely. I remember after the first 3 workouts I GAINED weight. She warned me that this might happen because I was building muscle so thankfully I was mentally prepared for that (this is why the MIND stuff is so important! You need someone there to coach you mentally or else you can quickly lose motivation). She assured me that by the end of the next week, my new muscle would be shredding my fat and kept reminding me that she could see a difference in my strength training.
Sure enough, by the next week, I had dropped the weight I gained plus an extra three pounds…but the best part was, I was starting to see definition in my ARMS. I have always been top heavy. I easily gain muscle in my legs, but my arms and stomach never toned up. By the end of my month with Thelis, my body transformation was in full swing. I looked STRONG, which was always my goal.
After my sessions were up, I felt confident to go to the gym and replicate the workouts we did together because she really taught me correct form, the appropriate amount of repetitions, and how much weight I could lift etc. In the end, I lost about 12 pounds and have been able to keep it off ever since because now I workout differently and have a healthy relationship with the gym and my body.

I saw the MBX sign one morning as I was parking in Montclair and googled it on a whim. The premise behind MBX intrigued me - one stop shop for mind, fitness and nutrition. As a mom of 3 with a full-time job I was not good at making time for me. I've tried ALL types of fitness classes and never stuck to anything for more than 2 weeks. Plus I was eating like a broke college student - coffee for breakfast, grabbing junk in between meetings and eating kids leftovers at night. Not to mention general work and mom stress - and certainly no exercise.
I bit the bullet and set up an appointment with Thelis - and I am SO glad that I did!!! In just a few short weeks of training I already feel stronger and healthier than I have in a very long time. Thelis has given me the tools I need to eat better and explains to me WHY the choices I make for food are important. This in turn has resulted in immediate weight loss, increased energy and improved mood overall. I feel good! She encourages me to finish reps I think I'm not strong enough to handle at first but somehow I do it. The bit of soreness I feel for the next few days feels so good and reminds me I'm building muscle and getting stronger every day. I can't say enough about how wonderful my experience at MBX has been! Like many moms, my physical/mental well-being was not given top priority for years. Working with Thelis has changed this. She's warm and easy to talk to, yet tough enough to get results! Exercise, diet, mental health, time management - all with the privacy of one-on-one sessions in an incredible space. It's truly been a wonderful experience!

After giving birth to my daughter, and heading back to work, taking care of ME was put on the back burner. I finally came to terms with needing to get back on track with my health all around. The "Busy Mom" program was exactly what I needed. In just a short period of time I felt 100% better physically and emotionally. Finally getting myself on track with my eating habits and fitness could not have happened without the guidance of Thelis at MBX. I truly believe that she will get me back to me! The program caters to my busy schedule and the flexibility that Thelis has to be able to accommodate me is outstanding. Although my journey has just begun, I know I'll be at my desired weight soon.
