Myself and my two daughters go and it is fantastic. The girls love "fighting with their friends" and love the staff and environment. I love it as well; you learn all the striking of karate but also learn judo takedowns as well as falls and submission defense and offense (jiujitsu). It is a fantastic place to learn and at a great price. The staff and instructors are fantastic and knowledgeable; the owner is very educated and knowledgeable and a fantastic teacher. I would highly recommend it for others in the area.

My daughter has only been enrolled here for a short time and she has already made tremendous progress! They gave her a “fighting name” so she has an alter-ego when she enters the dojo and she literally shines. Her confidence and discipline are improving by leaps and bounds. The instructors are amazing: patient, kind, funny, entertaining. The facility is super clean and always festive. Can not recommend this place enough!

My son’s been been going here for a year now and it is amazing. Great teachers. Showing discipline, anti bully/ kidnapping protection skills. My son loves learning all the karate moves and skills. Great prices and takes kids starting at age 3. Very much recommend for both girls and boys.

Highly recommend NJMAA. It is the best karate institute in New Jersey. Over the many years I committed to this dojo, I felt like I was part of a family that guided me physically and taught me many valuable life lessons that I still use to this day.

I have been a student here for as long as I can remember. Every Sensei/Instructor is very kind and they are always willing to help me whether I am in or outside of class. Each class is very fun and I love every class that I go to.

New Jersey Martial Arts is an excellent school. Myself and my family have been training here for over a decade, the education and opportunities the Carmona’s provide for their students is next to none. The school has a positive and professional atmosphere, and instructors are dedicated not only in teaching karate, but also in teaching students about character and values.
They have flexible schedules in karate classes for both children and adults, and offer many other martial arts and leadership programs for students. This truly is the best school around!

An amazing dojo with amazing instructors! They have taken the time to teach my children, especially my autistic son when they could have easily turned us away. I am in awe of how amazing everyone is. Thank you.

My son has been a student here for several years. This is a great school, with awesome teachers and a wonderful environment. The teachers set a great example for the students and get the students to match that example: in attitude and effort. The teachers find this great balance between pushing the students to be the best they can be, expecting the most out of them, and having a fun and lighthearted approach to help them keep going with a smile and laugher. They build them up without falsely leading them to believe that "everyone gets a trophy" without dedication and perseverance - and when their effort and progress are seen, it's recognized. At the same time, not every student is very athletic and they still help them to give it their all and feel a sense of accomplishment when they're effort pays off. Highly recommended!!! What a sense of community and belonging!

My kids have been attending this dojo for 3 years and myself for about 1&1/2 years and we love it here! Hanshi and Renshi Carmona are the best instructors you can find to teach your kids (and myself) not only in karate but also in being a good person. The quality of teaching is by far above standard and the people in the dojo make it a wonderful environment in which to spend your time.

We have two children in the program and it is excellent. Students learn martial arts but there is a lot more taught. Training addresses both the physical and mental self. It teaches discipline, perseverance, confidence and respect. Students earn their belts and are not simply given a belt because they have attended the school for a certain period of time. They learn at their own pace until they master a level and achieve a belt. It teaches boys and girls the skills they need to handle or defend themselves in any given situation.

Our Son has been a student at New Jersey Martial Arts Academy for 4 years. We initially checked out several martial arts schools and were drawn to NJMAA for many reasons but were especially impressed with the character development emphasis. It's not the closest school for us. We actually drive by several others to get there- but we think its worth going the extra mile.

My daughter was at this school and absolutely loved it. The instructors are first-rate, and what I like most is the real sense of community they manage to engender. Definitely not just a "belt mill".

Can't recommend this school highly enough.

I joined NJMAA a little under two years ago. I LOVE it there. All of the instructors and the kids are really funny and nice and there is a very awesome balance of fun and training. You have to work hard and play hard so to speak. they have great programs for kids age 3-5, 6-9, 9-12, and 13 and up. You don't just get a belt at NJMAA, you have to earn it and when you get a new belt it gives you a great sense of accomplishment. The instructors are very good at bringing out the best in each student and They do a very good job of making sure that everyone gets the help they need. They also are very good with people with physical and mental disorders. The facilities are in Landing and in Randolph and they are both very nice and are very well equipped with pads and all that stuff. The trainers are all really great and the black belts are really through and through black belts. Developing a strong character is greatly stressed and the head instructor likes to say "there's not very much value in being able to kick things. There is a lot of value in being a good person." there are so many other things to do such as kendo, weapons, gymnastics extreme martial arts(exeme), the demo team, and the leadership team. I cannot recomend this place enough. It is so amazing, I can't even tell you. So, no matter what your situation is, NJMAA is definitely for you!!

Great, clean place! It smells fantastic. Sanitary facility, excellent front desk staff. In fact, the front desk staff shines among other schools I have visited, in every way possible, from customer service, to honest consultation. They maintain a professional, yet friendly atmosphere, while bringing a healthy approach to moral and physical development to all ages.
Instructing staff is superb. All black belts are perfectly qualified to be carrying out their roles. The class times are flexible with most schedules and are very convenient and appropriate durations.
Whether you are seeking moral enlightenment, physical conditioning, a healthy community, or honorable training, this is certainly a place to choose.

Respect, integrity, balance, and more. This is not a 'rent a belt' school. If you want your children in an environment where they have to earn their ranks and learn discipline and one of the greatest martial arts fighting styles, then New Jersey Martial Arts Academy is for you.
