Honestly, if you have an alternative, better go somewhere else. I have no alternative as I come here mainly for swimming pool. Boys locker room next to swimming pool is quite scary - you can literally shoot horror movies in there, just dim lights a little. I think they changed lockers themselves fairly recently, but everything else is pretty scary to look at: walls, floors, showers, etc. Obviously I wasn't to girls locker rooms - so can't say.

Gym equipment and weights are probably from the times when Arnold shot "Pumping Iron" or even older. Everything is dirty, barely functioning, weights are rusted and beaten up so bad you can't even read the numbers on them. You don't even want to touch those weights, honestly. When it's a rain they put some buckets in certain spots otherwise water drips directly to the gym floor.

My main highlight of coming here is little steam room in adult locker room, especially in colder months - if you used a swimming pool you have to go across the building to get there. Unfortunately, that steam room doesn't work 90% of the time. There's no clear reason why, and seems like nobody cares. Maintenance guys do not know, front desk doesn't know, no matter how many times you ask. It wasn't working for few months this year because they couldn't 'fix the door handle' to sauna room - it wasn't closing properly or opening properly (again, nobody knows). I physically tested the door and it was fine, but again, steam room is closed and no one knows or cares to explain why.

Management either doesn't care or doesn't have money. Probably both.

There are few positives here, obviously. They try to decorate foyer for every season / holiday, pool is always warm and properly maintained and people who work here are generally nice. However, if I'd have an alternative for a pool I'd go somewhere else. Unfortunately in Toms River, as far as I know, there's no alternative.

Summer camp is absolutely amazing! The staff make everyone feel welcome and safe. The counselors are energetic, caring, and clearly love working with kids. The activities are fun, well-organized, from outdoor adventures and swimming lessons to arts and crafts, sports, and team-building games.

My kids enjoyed every moment.. thanks to the director Kirsten and the fantastic counselors Kacie, Shea, Izzy, Sarah, and Alexa just to name a few.

It’s clear the camp puts a lot of thought into both fun and safety. Communication with parents was great too! I appreciate the regular updates and photos.

We went here for my daughter's birthday party and she had a great time. However some things to keep in mind: They do swim test all the kids and are very serious about it. Unless the child is a confident swimmer they have them were a life vest and they need an adult. They aren't allowed past the 4ft zone if they cant swim and its a small area. They don't allow any street clothes, nothing no t shirts and say it messes with the filtration system. No goggles with noses covered. They are very punctual! Like to the minute. They said swimming was frim 12:30-1:15. We got out of the pool at 1:15 on the dot and they started packing up the party room at 2:25 breaking down tables when the party ended at 2:30. Felt rushed packing everything up. All in all, the kids had a great time and staff was friendly throughout especially during the planning process.

I was here for a swim meet and I was quite disappointed. The pool was extremely dark and with goggles on I could barely see. The interior was gloomy and there were no windows. The facility looked like an abandoned warehouse with a pool inside of it.

This is the most disgusting locker room I have ever seen in my life. I was literally concerned for my own health just by walking in there. Attaching a photo of a womens shower… it looks like they made a repair and still didn’t bother to even wipe down the black mold. Unacceptable.

The trainers are awesome and they care , listen 👂 to you if you have a problem. Using the equipment in the ( Fitness Center ).

Udate: when i shower at the YMC that one shower take a little bit to heat up and when it does it up after 2 minutes hot water spews out for 3 seconds and it's hotter then the temp you originally set it at. It happened to me 4 times

Called to see how much a day to use the pool for my 3 grandchildren and myself. The cost was $15 for each child plus $15 for me. I think $60 for a few hours for 3 children under the age of 9 and for 1 senior is a bit steep.
( I just received feedback from YMCA marketing) My comment still stands. I understand that there's other things to do in addition to the pool at the YMCA included in the daily $15 rate per person, however I just wanted a few hours at the pool with my grandchildren. Again, $60 is ridiculous for 3 little kids and 1 senior just wanting a couple hours of swim time.

I love this gym but ever since they started doing classes on the turf and on the treadmills I just wanna go to a different gym. The classes take up the entire turf and if they go on the treadmills they are all taken up for alteast an hour. The classes are like everyday too they should be done in another room. I pay to use this gym and I've been trying to push it off but every time its just packed with people from the class it annoys me very much. Last thing is the sauna is that ever gonna open again that was another reason I came to this gym.

However with the amount of money that they receive throughout the year for swim camps, meets and the gym. It's probably not a good thing that the asbestos ceiling is falling apart.
That is what causes cancer

Breathing that in a long with the chlorine is not at all a healthy atmosphere for our youths to be in.

my kids go to the OC YMCA for swim lessons. Despite being new swimmers, they love it. The instructors are amazing and do such a good job with all of the kids. Communication from the office is fantastic when issues arise. Everyone is so helpful. I had problems registering for classes, mostly because I was trying to register multiple kids. The staff on the phone were so nice and easy to work with anytime i had to call.

Hey. I go here for swimming training for this year. People are so nice. Costs are so low. There’s coffee and books and a sauna I like upstairs. The pool is great. Lots of lanes. Good timers and watch counters. Staff are really helpful and really give space and are very let you be. People seem to really be nice who work here. A tucked away gorgeous spot. Very real. Very worth it. It’s really kinda basic but good quality. So it has that feel of not being intimidating while really having a lot to offer. There’s a space to sit and read for example and it’s not ott so it don’t feel too intimidating. Zero extra added costs in my experience. No tax. No req to buy to get into a pool. Lots of times that the pool is open. Very live and let live atmosphere. Really my safe spot in ocean county. Yay.

Everything was great until someone came up with the brilliant idea to close the 6 lane pool. Are you kidding?!? Members pay a fee to use the facility, and then can't use the 12 lane pool because it is closed for swim meets. Hello???...that was the advantage of having the 6 lane pool...a member could still get in their swimming while the meets or practices were going on. Even only having 1 or 2 lanes open for members is just plain ridiculous. People who work and go to school utilize the weekends or right after school hours to use the Y, but now, that is just not possible. I wish I could sit home all day and head over to the Y whenever there was the best availability for swim times. Please remember you do have younger members with busy lives...just not older retired people who have the luxury of doing what they want when they want. I can't wait till my membership is up. I will never waste my money on a membership here again, as paying for something you can not use at all times is an embarrassment. Had this closing of the 6 lane pool not happen, I would have given this review 5 stars. I always thought the Y was known for swimming...haha...what a joke...guess not!

Downstairs men's and women's locker rooms are an embarrassment...broken fixtures, torn shower curtains, missing soap dishes. Too much maintenance has been overlooked for too long.
