I am a black card member, I have been to several PF in the north jersey area (Hawthorne, Pompton lakes my home gym, airmont, Hackensack, woodland park) and this is the cleanest, most well run location with the friendliest staff. Lori and Jordan are amazing. It is quite spacious so even when it’s crowded it doesn’t feel too bad. They have many machine and the tanning beds are clean and excellent. The only complains are they don’t have two of the a machines airmont has and the bicep curl is a terrible machine version but thus why there’s free weights. I chose Pompton as my home gym cause it’s closest to my house but I should have chosen this one.

This Planet Fitness in East Hanover really surprised me—in the best way. From the parking lot to the sidewalk to the gym floor, everything is spotless. You can tell they take pride in keeping this place clean and welcoming.

The equipment is all new and state-of-the-art, and there’s a ton of variety—cardio, weights, functional training—you name it. Even when it’s busy, there’s plenty of room and no stress about waiting around.

The vibe here is what makes it special. The staff is friendly, the members are respectful, and it feels like everyone is just here to get a good workout in without the ego or attitude you sometimes find at other gyms.

Plus, parking is easy and free, which makes coming here even better. Honestly, this location nails the “Judgment Free Zone” promise—comfortable, modern, and actually fun to be at.

I’ve been a member of the East Hanover Planet Fitness gym since just about when this location opened in 2017, and it’s become like a home for me. One of the outstanding features of the gym is the staff, and Jordan Maldonado provides such exceptional customer service, taking an interest in my personal progress, and he helps to make the facility so welcoming.

Aside from the special attention that management takes in making the gym a clean environment that permits everyone to feel comfortable & confident, the workout experience just feels better when staff members, like Jordan, show the level of attention to patron’ well-being.

I wouldn’t think of going to another gym, and I have been recommending everyone I know in the area to join.

I love planet fitness and have been a loyal patron for a long time. Their biggest plus is their cleanliness. But I am recently disappointed that they have upgraded their equipment but did not retain their older equipment as well. Recently I have been Interrupted while used the old style bikes because there are only two in the whole gym. As a smaller person the leg machines are awful. The foot portion on these machines no longer have a locking mechanism and as a short person I find myself getting hurt if I attempt to use it. The adduction/abduction machines are gone and now there is only one machine in the whole place. Also it a dual purpose machine which is very uncomfortable as a short person. I had to go to a different location that still keeps all the older equipment. Nothing can be done at this point because they’re not bringing the old equipment back. I’ll Just have to go somewhere else for now.

I’ve been a loyal member of **Plante Fitness** for a long time and usually work out late at night. The gym has great equipment and a good atmosphere, but the recent mirror changes have been frustrating. Before, mirrors were everywhere, which was helpful for checking form and staying motivated. Now, they’re only in certain areas, making some workout spaces feel incomplete.

I hope the management considers adding more mirrors back, especially in key workout zones, as it really affects the experience. Other than this, it’s still a solid gym, but this change has been a downside for me.

I love this gym. The staff is so friendly and the manager Francesco does an amazing job keeping everything clean and organized. The added weight equipment for dead lifts and squats on the free standing stations is amazing… the landmine all of it. He just told me they were putting turf in also which is amazing. Me and my friends found this place after we all decided (we all train to out of an mma gym down the road) when our coach told us to add strength and conditioning to our routines, as they don’t offer that there. With a black card membership you can bring a friend and really isn’t that much, however most of us have just signed up and meet there and push each other. We are used to group classes so it’s nice to be able to train with a friend that will keep pushing you on your down days. I couldn’t ask for more out of this place. A few weeks ago I would've given the gym 5 stars. Since the teen program started it's been awful. At 5pm the gym is packed with kids. They stand around in groups all using the same equipment and paying members can't get on it. There should be a time frame that non paying teens can use the gym. One day last week I left after 10 minutes because literally every piece of equipment was being used by mostly kids. Gym recently upgraded to mostly Matrix equipment. They had Life Fitness which IMO is much better. Matrix has poor ergonomics.

I’ve been a member since Whippany and I’m there 5 days a week and loving it even more. The new plate loaded equipment is dynamite! Easy to use, and really upped my game. I needed to increase my weights because the movement is so steady and seamless on the new machines. They don't seem to care about cardio. About A year or so ago, they removed 2 entrie rows of cardio machines. And just recently they decided to unplug an entire row of remaining machines. When unplugged, the built in fans either don't come on at all or power off during your session if you don't pedal fast enough. Have begged several times to please just plug them back in to be told "this is how everyone does it". :-(

I love Planet East Hanover. I’ve been going here since they opened. All the wonderful staff I’ve met are very friendly and helpful and do a great job. I’ve been a member since 2019, straight to the point, Coco who works at the front desk at night time seems to be problematic. It was 9:00 pm on the dot, closing time on the weekend, she came over to one of the leg press machines, was on my last set, getting ready to leave. She was extremely rude & disrespectful. Shouting at me first from far, telling me “you know you hear me” then came up closer demanding I leave the gym immediately. I told her nicely I was finishing my last set and leaving in one minute, She demanded I leave this second and said that I cannot finish my last set at 9 PM on the dot. She then went on telling me “if i was working, and had her job, that I would treat customers the same”. She is a true example of bad customer service. I just switched over to the Planet Fitness in East Hanover. Koko, Aly, and the entire staff were super helpful with everything from the tour, handling multiple members, super attentive, and literally keeping the gym spotless. Simply put, outstanding customer service.
Only thing missing is a hydration station and a seated cable chest press and it would be the best gym I’ve ever had. (I have to give 5 stars for the staff alone—>12/10🙌).

I've been a member here for around a year now. I'm very impressed with the cleanliness of the entire club. further, they actually keep the machines in good working order. if something goes wrong, they fix it in a timely fashion. unlike other clubs I have frequented. they have enough machines that I have rarely had to wait for access to what I need. I only wish that they were a little larger, so that they had more floor space for other types of training, and room for kick bags. but as gripes go, that is really quite a minor one.

I practically live at this gym with the amount that I’m there and I can say without a doubt it has the best staff ever. Montana especially is such a sweetheart and so welcoming. It’s always nice when you can go to the gym and joke around with the staff, it just makes the experience that much better. Plus she loves Eminem unlike some OTHER people and that’s always a plus :)

From the outside it looks very cold and not very welcoming, but it is so clean and the staff are all so friendly and helpful! As a black card member I can go to any location, but this is one of my faves!

Not my home gym but thinking of making it my new home! 🤔 I’m a Fairfield member & boy oh boy these two PF are night and day! This location has friendly staff walking around making sure things are on the up & up. This place is clean! (Bathroom stalls need a little TLC but not terrible.) The staff wheel a cart around with cleaning supplies & actually fill up every cleanser bottle & paper towel dispenser. Not at Fairfield, you have to
chase & beg for it! 🙄 They have a great amount of WORKING equipment here (no squeaking machines or frayed cables) & the members here actually wipe stuff down! 😳 I met the manager and he is very professional and actually cares about this gym & what the members have to say. It shows so keep up the great work East Hanover!

Super small place. Up to 40 lockers in the woman’s locker room. Cordial employees. Equipment needs attention. Did 20 minutes and left tbh.
