Was just there today and used the bathroom after my workout and whoever was cleaning the bathroom used way to much bleach or whatever chemicals they were using for the men’s room it was literally burning my eyes and making me feel very nauseous and I was only in there for not even 3 mins. So I left but after about 10 mins leaving the gym I thought I would probably feel better but no my eyes are still burning and still feeling nauseous so I called that location to complain, but the girl told me oh just call back on Monday. You can talk to someone, but I was like I’m just you know that they shouldn’t let anyone go in that bathroom for a bit until the chemicals smell is gone, but she was very useless and kept saying call back on Monday. I would not come back to this location

This Planet Fitness used to be a great gym, but ever since the new manager Sergio took over, it’s gone downhill. He constantly hovers around people, interrupts workouts, and makes members feel uncomfortable. I was told not to grunt during a lift — even though it wasn’t excessive — and was also called out because a machine made a slight noise when I finished a set.

After talking with other members, it’s clear I’m not the only one who feels this way. Everyone says he’s disrespectful and overly controlling, and even employees don’t seem happy working under him. This location used to be friendly and welcoming, but now it feels tense and unpleasant.

A lot of loyal members have already left or are thinking about leaving because of how uncomfortable he makes everyone feel. Even his own employees don’t seem happy working under him. The gym used to feel welcoming — now it feels tense, awkward, and uninviting.

Planet Fitness corporate really needs to look into this manager. He’s driving away good members and creating an environment that’s the opposite of the “Judgment Free Zone” Planet Fitness claims to be.

SERGY the new manager of the elmwood park needs to be fired immediately his rude & disrespectful … I had a conversation with him regarding the harassment from his staff members regarding an email I sent out previously. The phone conversation we had earlier today he stated” I am black woman I am aggressive after I told him I am recording this conversation, “ he stated he didn’t say that I’m trying to make it a race issue “ clearly it’s a race issue & harassing issue going on at this gym. The cooperate office need to be involved. I’m going to press the issue will be reaching out to cooperate office. On October 13, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., I experienced a very upsetting and humiliating situation at gym. The trainer, Rud Colas, yelled at me in a very aggressive and disrespectful way without any valid reason. I was simply waiting for a machine to become available when he began raising his voice and speaking to me in a manner that made me feel scared, embarrassed, and disrespected in front of others.
The manager, Melissa, was present and witnessed the incident. She saw how Rud spoke to me and how inappropriate his behavior was. I believe no member should be treated or spoken to in such a disrespectful way, especially in front of others.
This situation made me feel extremely uncomfortable, anxious, and hurt. I take my work seriously and always try to be respectful to everyone, so being treated like that was very painful. I respectfully request that this incident be reviewed, as the security cameras will clearly show what happened at that time.

Today, one of my friends was humiliated by a staff member, trainer Rud Colas, who yelled at her for no reason and in front of many people. My friend felt deeply hurt by the words he used and the way he treated her. This happened in front of the manager, who did nothing to stop the situation and allowed this unacceptable behavior to continue. We all have memberships, and no one should ever be treated or spoken to in such a disrespectful and humiliating way. This afternoon around 6:30 I went to do my exercises and I was surprised to have a bad experience with the trainer Rud Colas. He was so rude to a girl, he seemed so racist that he almost hit her. I don't know how these kind of people work in planet fitness with such vocabulary and raising their voices at a lady, she didn't deserve the treatment she received. I have been a loyal member of this Planet Fitness location since it opened and have always appreciated the convenience of location and some friendly staff. Unfortunately, my experience has drastically changed since the arrival of the new manager earlier this year.
This manager SERJAY/SERGIO has repeatedly displayed provoking and disrespectful behavior not only towards me but others. On one recent occasion, while I was in the middle of my workout, he walked up to me and demanded that I pick up my 4x6 body pouch, which I keep near me at all times because it contains my inhaler. I had simply pushed it against the wall while stretching on the floor, and it was not in anyone’s way. Instead of handling the matter politely, he continued to harass and intimidate me, returning multiple times to address the same issue and eventually asking for my name as if he intended to cancel my membership.
To make matters worse, he later sent another team member over to ask for my name again. This kind of behavior is not only uncomfortable but also unnecessary. I have never had an issue with any other staff members at this gym—aside from one male member who tends to intimidate women—and I’ve always conducted myself respectfully.
On several different occasions, when I’ve requested contact information for someone higher up to address my concerns, this manager has arrogantly stated that he is the highest authority and that this is his gym, insisting that he makes all the decisions. This attitude and behavior are unacceptable, especially toward a long-standing paying member.
My family and I (my husband and children) are all Planet Fitness members, and we value the gym environment. However, I do not appreciate this type of customer service and disrespectful treatment. I am asking for this issue to be reviewed and rectified immediately, and for someone from corporate or regional management to reach out to me as soon as possible to discuss this matter.

This Gym has had Arbitrary Rules in place for months, where they are constantly chasing customers, bothering them for their bags, bothering them if they use their phones, bothering them if you have guests, they chase you, they harass you, they personally made my wife and I feel very embarrassed because we had to carry our bag with our training accessories and I have seen how they follow customers, interrupting them from their workouts to make them put their belongings in their lockers and above all with a very bad attitude, especially a tall white guy with no hair, since he entered the gym he has put all the customers in a super uncomfortable stress. I went to do a gym transfer, because I moved to a different location and the gym transfer was giving me a little trouble, and a hard time with the other location and they couldn’t help me.

I came to the gym and spoke to Melissa she was at the front desk.

First off she was very kind and so polite and literally did the transfer for me in 5 minutes. I am so grateful and I appreciate people like her, no attitude no disrespect and super helpful and do their job 🙂👌🏻

Much like everyone else’s comments, the manager is extremely rude. He’s incredibly hyper vigilant and it’s almost militant. He was very condescending and I couldn’t have left the gym fast enough. It’s a shame considering the gym is clean with new equipment but the manager will single-handedly be the reason the gym loses clients.

I have to say the gym is good, clean and nice but the gym manager is very terrible and disrespectful. I was doing my exercises and he went to me interrupted me and ask if I speak English which made me feel very offensive. After he confirmed I speak English and he told me that he needed to enforce me leave the gym because my shoes were not properly. Although I explained to him that I just wanna do some simple exercises on my own gym mat not on any machines, he still forced me to leave. It was a very bad experience there.

I’ve been going to Planet Fitness for about five years through paid memberships, and through the free summer program. I’ve been to locations in Wayne, Woodland Park, Paterson, and Clifton with no problems ever. But this location is a different story and the issue is 100% the manager.
He’s rude, unprofessional, and honestly seems to go out of his way to make certain people uncomfortable.
One day (after coming to this location for about the 5th time) I checked in like usual, went to the locker room, and was suddenly pulled out by a female employee saying he needed to speak to me. She wasn’t even on the floor meaning he went out of his way to send someone in. He then said I needed a photo ID. That shocked me since I’ve had memberships with PF for years and always had a photo on file. He pushed for a school ID since i’m 17 and don’t have a regular one.. in the middle of summer, and wouldn’t accept my college documents because they didn’t have a picture, even though everything matched my account.
It made no sense especially since the FREE summer program for 14–19 year olds is going on, my account says I’m 17, and I clearly look under 19.He wouldn’t budge at all and still kicked me out.
I had to call my mom, find my passport, and show a picture just to stay and by that time he was gone.

A few visits later, he kicked me out AGAIN, this time for wearing my black UGG Tasman slippers. While I do get that gym shoes are technically required, I’ve been wearing UGGs or Crocs for years and never once had a problem at any other PF. I usually do abs or floor work, and honestly, I’ve never gotten hurt and i’m sure i signed a waiver saying i’m using the equipment at my own risk. But instead of handling it calmly, he walked straight to the back of the gym (where I’d already been working out for 25 minutes) and told me I’d have to leave if I didn’t change.
I don’t excuse myself for ignoring dress code rules just because they’ve never been enforced to me or anyone else but it was just so odd to be kicked out IMMEDIATELY for something i’ve been seeing for years at planet fitness. there is a better way he could’ve went about it knowing that and i would’ve easily being in compliance. If he would’ve said “While i understand this is what you usually wear , We cannot allow it at this location, I’ll let it slide since you’re already here but next time we can’t let you in with these on” but nope just said i have to leave and wait for my ride lollll.

When I said it felt like he was picking on me at this point, he responded with, “Don’t try to trick me. A lot of people try to say I’m harassing them.” Like… maybe take a second to reflect on yourself then.
He’s quick to kick people out instead of enforcing rules with basic respect. I’m 17, trying to stay active and take care of my health and mental, not cause trouble. But he makes it uncomfortable to even walk into the building. Other older gym members even saw me upset outside and asked what happened. When I told them everything, they were just as shocked. Because that’s insane.

I had to move recently, and now my main PF in downtown Paterson is 50 minutes away. This location is only a 30-minute walk, but I will gladly walk the extra 20 to avoid this one.

One of the worst experiences I had going to this PF. Went inside and immediately got yelled at by the staff. Rude people at the front desk and I believe it was the head staff. Many machines are broken aswell as the bars. The vibe inside the gym was terrible and with such a small place it is not worth your time to go inside. The "strict rules" are so enforced over here mainly the shoe policy even though the other gyms I go to allow the shoe that HAS the back on them. (Blink, Another PF location, Powerhouse). Overall 1. Dont waste your money on this and find another planet fitness who actually keeps up with the work. 2. Go to another gym besides planet fitness. You can do so much better finding another location than going to this place. 3. Find a gym that has respectable staff and knows the policy.

I have been coming to this location since day one and EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT until the new “manager “ SERGEY- SERGIO or however his name is got here. He is the most disrespectful and annoying manager that I ever seen, always bother people coming around looking what people do and stare at you so weird and pretending to be nice and his only purpose is ask for things he doesn’t need to know or get involved. I didn’t know they if you have a small bag with you that you are supervising, you have to put it away om the lockers just because he wants to or having on top of you. Like if I am doing some type or exercise I can’t have this bag on my cuz that’s uncomfortable and if I don’t want to leave it in the locker I have all the right to not leave in there. I’ve been coming to this location for a while, but ever since the new manager, Sergio, started, it’s been uncomfortable. He constantly hovers around people while they’re working out, making it hard to focus or feel any sense of privacy. It’s become a weird and uneasy environment.

Cleaning should be done before or after peak hours not while members are actively using the machines. Instead, Sergio goes around with a vacuum or cleaning supplies in the middle of workouts, asking people to move so he can clean under them, which is completely disruptive and unnecessary.

Honestly, it feels more like he’s watching people than managing the gym. It’s uncomfortable and borderline inappropriate. I won’t be returning to this location as long as this continues. Members deserve to feel safe, focused, and respected in a gym environment..!!!!!

The gym was perfect until they got Sergey, the new club manager. He has a problem with EVERYTHING. He moved me from a machine so he can mop underneath it - in between sets. Yesterday I had to move my water bottle from one of 10 open step stools while I’m right next to it. Today he disrupted me on the treadmill to say my belt bag could not be on the machine and i had to wear it or bring it to the lockers. He’s better suited to train for the military and most definitely not at Planet Fitness.

PS. None of the items he moves were posing as a danger to anyone.

Good gym except no rules for teenagers. They are everywhere sitting around taking up machines doing nothing. God forbid planet fitness sets a time for them, or workers tell them to stop messing around. Overly packed for no reason with kids hanging out while pissing off everyone around them, messing up sets, bumping into people while making sets. Holding machines for friends. I’m not a real fan of gyms but for my own good I have to make the effort. Planet fitness Elmwood Park makes it easier for me to get up and get going. The front desk staff are very nice and helpful. The gym is clean the machines work and everyone is respectful of one another. Truly a no judgement zone. One staff member in particular Sergey I noticed walks around the most replenishing supplies to wipe down machines with, picking up and putting equipment back in its place after he wipes it down and he seems to always be looking around making sure everything is running smoothly. I appreciate the care and the effort everyone puts forth Thank you.

Quisiera expresar una queja respecto a una situación que ocurre frecuentemente en el gimnasio y que resulta bastante incómoda para los miembros. He notado que el personal de limpieza tiende a limpiar las máquinas mientras estamos utilizándolas para hacer ejercicio. Esto se vuelve molesto, ya que interrumpe el flujo de la rutina, genera distracción, y a veces incluso es difícil concentrarse con los productos de limpieza tan cerca.

Entiendo y aprecio la importancia de mantener las instalaciones limpias y seguras para todos, pero creo que sería mucho mejor si las máquinas se limpiaran entre usos o cuando no hay alguien utilizándolas, para así evitar la incomodidad y mejorar la experiencia de los usuarios.

Agradezco su atención y espero que puedan considerar esta sugerencia para hacer del gimnasio un lugar aún mejor.

Went to join. I wanted classic plan. They want checking AND credit card. I told them I am not giving them access to my account. They said it is to debit the fees as necessary. I said I have a credit card for that. They said they will only do it that way. I said then what about cash option listed on site. He responded you have to pay the whole year upfront. I said no problem. He said $318. I said why so much if it is supposed to be $180 ($15×12 months). He said oh since missing out on "other stuff" that's how they make up for it. Even with annual fee included it would have been $229. Scam if I ever heard one. Just like scammers they only want money you cannot get back "just in case". In case of what hmmmm. Do not trust them. That is deceptive business practices.

the staff there is AMAZING other than one or two people! however - this high school summer pass is truly ruining the experience for ANYONE who wants to actually workout. We could not even walk around without getting bumped by children today nor were any machines available. Please set specific hours for them if possible!!!! We work to hard 9-5 to not be able to workout after.

Love my gym. Ron Rudd and staff are amazing. As I am on a weight loss journey they have all been kind and helpful. Such a clean gym. There is always someone cleaning. 98% of the time all machines are working. I have been to several of the planet fitness centers by far Elmwood Park is #1. Making my journey well worth it. Thanks. Good gym! But the employees unfortunately the treatment is very bad, the coaches take over the machines and do not let the others use them if they are not their customers, the manager is the worst of all we went 7 to explain a problem and his answer was to cancel the membership, and well we left the 7 because of his attitude and bad attention to everyone. They must give better services to their customers and more now that they are having many but if the manager is still there I don't think they will go any more. Thank you

Went to go try out the gym to see if I liked it over the other gym in town retro fitness. When I arrived I was informed there are no free day passes or trials to see if the gym was a good fit. 95% of all gyms offer this and for what ever reason Elmwood park pf refused. I’m going to take my money over to retro fitness instead. At least they appreciate the business I would give them.

The Elmwood Park Planet Fitness is very clean and very friendly associates , The Gym is nice in the format , the manger Ron was so attentive to my needs and concerns about the Gym . The gym itself is not so bad, the problem with this gym is that the fans are always on maximum and you cannot sweat even if you wear sweaters and the truth is that is one of the reasons for going to the gym, you ask the staff to lower the temperature. speed of the fans and the response that you relive that they do not handle that.

I admittedly made a mistake when signing up and picked the wrong home gym. Fine. I went here to get help in fixing the issue. I was treated very nonchalant in receiving help and was told to deal with the original location. That location said they couldn't help either and to ask for a manager at this location the one I wanted to attend to do a transfer. They told me there was no such thing and didn't offer any other help but to upgrade my plan. I just don't get how there is no easy way to change home gyms and no one offered a decent solution.

When I asked for a contact number with member support I was just told check the website in a very dismissive attitude. Decided to just cancel the membership instead.

Had an absolute blast taking a tour of the gym with the amenities and employees. Visited the gym during the weekend and Mr. Mi gave me a very personalized & kind tour of the newly built gym. Today, I wanted to cancel my membership. I spoke with Nate regarding my interest in cancelling my membership. Nate became very rude to me when I asked him when will my membership will be officially cancel. He became more upset when I asked him to give me a receipt. He stated that he does not give receipts, and he does not send cancellation emails. When I asked for his name, he just turn around and left!.
Mrs, Gwen who stated she is the regional manager offer me to give me the receipt. She was very nive and she apologized for trainer Nate lack off costumer service manner.
People like Nate gives a bad reputation to this business.
Whoever is in charge in this gym, should train the staff to have excellent costumer interaction skill, show professionalism, and to be respectful to clients.
I guess Mr Nate behave this way because he is not the one who is putting a lot of money to run this business.

Don’t go to this gym unless you want to be robbed. This gym has been open for less than 60 days and my wallet was stolen out of a locker next to the front desk. The manager Ron was extremely rude and refused to give me contact information for the regional manager or corporate office. He claimed not to know the information himself. My wallet was never stolen at Dawry’s Fitness across the street or Blink. Don’t join this gym out of convenience get you’ll lose and the attitude you’ll receive from the employees isn’t worth it
