I recently joined the Hackensack Planet Fitness. The facility is awesome and very clean, which I really appreciate. However, I noticed that the front desk girls on Tuesday early morning seemed to lack customer service skills. They were talking and laughing loudly while members were exercising nearby and didn’t show much professionalism when responding to questions. I’ll give it some time to see if things improve before deciding whether to continue my membership.

Overall it's a decent gym, the mornings and weekends are less crowded. There's everything available to get a solid work out.
The stretching room has a nice ballet Barre.

My main concern is the spray bottles to clean off the equipment do not seem to have any cleaner in them. After I spray the paper towel there is no smell. I just went to the Clifton location and those sprays definitely are cleaners. I've been many PF over the years and never had this concern.

Also no one seems very concerned about maintaining the sprays and paper towels supplied. Half the spray bottles are busted.

The mats are laying on the floor instead of hung up, mostly people don't bother wiping them down either. Just makes them seem dirtier. I don't know if they are cleaned by staff regularly.

Yes the staff is dusting and vacuuming and using the floor cleaning machine, that smells like cleaner, so that's nice. So I'm guessing there is an issue watering down the cleaners for the spray bottles.

Occasionally a knob is missing from an adjustment point, idk what that's about but I'm short, so if I can't adjust the seat properly I can't use that piece of equipment. So maybe more frequent equipment checks would help.

Plenty of parking. The staff have always been cordial to us. The massage chairs and hydro massage are great.

My only other caveats is sometimes the music is BLASTING, that means I have to crank my earphones up and that is not helping my tinnitus at all.

Today the gym was extremely crowded in the morning. I went to use the Bar Tricep machine, which has two stations. A man and his son were using one of them, so I went to the other. Then the man came over and told me he was also using that one, even though he was already working out with his son on the other machine. I waited patiently for him to finish, but when he did, he gave the machine to someone else—despite knowing I had been waiting. It’s unfair that he’s using both machines at once, especially during peak hours. This kind of behavior makes the gym experience frustrating. I’m seriously considering canceling my membership and joining a different gym.

I've been a member since this location opened, overall been happy, however, lately the place has become over run with 15 year olds camping on machines, 3, 4, 5 at a time, on their phones making it impossible to get a good workout in. PF needs to have designated hours for their "teen pass" program, because loyal members are dropping like flys.

Staff is very rude especially a blonde teenager and Manager as well. Manager on a power trip. Keeps threatening to cancel people’s membership. Not a good skill ethic as a manager, managers are supposed to be understanding, and patient. These staff are very rude not understanding to none and just want to enforce rules to some and not all. If one wants to enforce rules, enforce them to all. Manger is not owner to keep wanting to cancel everyone’s membership!

I've been going to this gym for several years, and it's always the same, especially this season! With that free kids' pass, the gym becomes crazy! But this year is the worst! There's no room to work out, 5 or 6 kids on one machine, they train poorly and damage the machines. The gym smells awful! Many members who go year-round are upset!! You as a company should investigate, and you'll see that I'm right. You should create schedules for kids or charge them for a membership, because in the end, they don't sign up! Many of my friends have switched gyms. Thanks to Planet fitness for making the gym worse and worse.

They tend to forget to do rounds, and a few times I've been there, they are out of paper to wipe down the machines or the cleaning solution. Also some of the members are quite inconsiderate, taking two or three machines at a time without even giving you the option of jumping in between to use one of the machines. And members tend to leave their tissues 🤧 after wiping down the machines on the floor.

I really like this gym in Hackensack. Even at its busiest, there’s no waiting for weight or cardio machines, which is great. The only minor bottleneck is with the dumbbells—they could definitely use another rack or two since they’re often in use.

One small but very important issue I hope they address is the paper towel situation. The holder near the weight machines by the pec deck has been missing for over two months, and the dispenser near the restrooms is broken. It would make a big difference if these were fixed!

I like the gym close to my house but please make the gym bigger the updated version is so much better and has more weight and more space to work out. I really like this gym. The atmosphere feels a bit more private compared to other Planet Fitness' I've been too. There's almost always machines available so there aren't any issues there. The place seems pretty clean from what I seen. Staff is usually walking around wiping each machine. It's a nice experience coming here so if you are a bit more reluctant of going to gyms, try this one, it won't disappoint.

Machines are a bit dated, also almost fell off from the stair master the fail safe stopper was activated once it turned off the machine went fast after I stopped it, there was no power at all idk what happened. I notified a staff member about this but the management should update these machines to modern one like the little ferry location.

But also , this location isn’t as busy like the little ferry location it’s a good secondary gym if you want to avoid the crowd

Good place to work out. Some people literally sit on machines and use their phone at times and it gets annoying when you’re planning on hitting certain machines in kind of an order while doing sets, but whatever. Membership was late by one day because I forgot, and I didn’t have my card, staff still let me in and I paid when I left with no issue. Good place with PLENTY of parking.

This gym seems to be ok until you walk into the locker room and realize there is no ac in there.

I gave this place a 2 star but then realized at 8:40am there is also no toilet paper. This place isn't ran well.

At 10am I noticed the ac in locker room on. So to be fair am switching to 4 because I also like they have the tennis open. Interesting tv other than the news is a huge plus for helping the workout. (Still no toilet paper in smaller restroom booth)

Take back to 2. Even though it seems the ac is on in locker area. Where the big toilet space area there isn't and am sweating . Very unpleasant.

Did not appreciate the female staff member that loudly and rudely demanded myself and my girlfriend to come to the front desk, not even a few seconds after we had stepped in through the front door, loudly in front of everyone, as if we were criminals. 😳 We had just stepped into the gym with the intention of signing up, needless to say we took our business to a different gym (Anytime Fitness) and paid a premium to not deal with this awful establishment. Countless other reviewers say that the manager is rude too, at best she is hurting the brand and driving away potential customers. Stay away from this planet fitness, sign up elsewhere. It was dark, dingy, hot and overcrowded anyway. 👎🏼

I'm only reviewing 1 star based on reviews I read here about the shower . I'm not a member but was looking up gyms to sign up but after reading about the shower even though I would go home to shower anyway, it's still very disappointing that reviews are , 1 was a year ago complaining about shower , then it was months ago , a few wks ago and still complaints about the cold showers . Geez !! And the it's basically all the same replies from a planet representative replying to each to reach out to gym manager. Obviously the manager hasn't addressed it so that's a BIG RED FLAG !! Walked in to sign up again since I used to go to the one in Belleville. May I say this location is really nice. The team they have here is very welcoming, the place is extremely clean, equipment looks great, and very well maintained. I had introductions by Daryl Williams which looked busy but, he acknowledged me right away to help me. I received a tour by Vanessa Fuentes which was knowledgeable and friendly. Say the least I signed up due to awesome experience. Awesome job to the both of them. Give them a raise.

I joined this gym a few months ago and can not beleive how incredible it is. The place is as clean and well kept.The staff is always working on keeping the place perfect. I was looking for something to complain about but found nothin. The club manager is Daryl Williams and the assistant manager is Allur Hayes. They both greated me my first day and always takes the time to say hello and make sure i am enjoying the club. Thanks to all for making my day so much better by running a perfect operation. This should be the training model for all planet fitness locations.

It's a great gym. Anyone can come here and reach whatever their goal is. They should work on getting another pec dec/rear delt machine as there is only one. They could probably sneak in another smith machine. Cable machines are routinely occupied. Wish there was a third or fourth one in the gym. This shouldn't stop the enlightened lifter from getting a solid pump here as there are always dumbbells' and other stuff available. Keep up the progress, keep the new machines coming please.

Gym has a lot of cardio equipment, not enough weights. You can’t bring a gym bag around, can’t jump rope anywhere in the gym, the free weights feel lighter than my home weights. Some of the staff are very rude! I really wish 24 hour fitness never closed, that was an amazing facility!

Way too many treadmills. Not enough smith machines or cable machines. Only 1 rear delt fly machine in the whole gym & a bunch of the bolts on it are loose. It's an accident waiting to happen. Also, I loved the Roman chair/ hyper-extension bench & it's been broken for over a month, so has one of the cable machines. They need a technician to come in and sure up all the machines & equipment.

I go to this gym everyday and they seem to have an issue with maintenance of their equipment.
Massage chairs have not been working for a week. When they could not be controlled by computer there were coins to get them working. I’m told the coins were taken away. Weight machine cable has been broken for over a month. Funny how the monthly fees are never reduced for these inconveniences. Those fees are deducted every month. That system has never broke down!
These are simple fixes. Am I asking for too much?
