This is a good gym for anybody seeking a gym for everybody. Lots of treadmills, free weights and workout machines. The locker rooms and bathrooms are kept clean as is the rest of the gym. The people who work here are polite and helpful. Planet Fitness has gyms throughout the US and I've been to multiple locations, all of which were great.

Purple planet is what it is is it cheap place to exercise I go to buy a protein drink after I worked out they scan my phone app and said that I can't buy the protein drink with my card on file because I didn't join at that club they don't accept cash so I said how do I pay he says with Apple pay well I don't have an iPhone so you can't buy a protein drink at this particular club if you didn't join their and if you don't have an iPhone change with all the technology today that would have been able to buy a protein drink but I wasn't.. seems pretty dumb to me I miss cash

This gym has enough equipment to support a busy day. You won't have trouble finding an empty machine as they have plenty. They have good leg and ab workout equipment. The locker room facilities are modern, quality countertops, nice tile floors and combination lockers so you don't have to bring a lock and keep track of a key. Some great amenities for massage and tanning. Staff is great and friendly

The staff at this Planet Fitness location are really great — friendly, hardworking, and clearly doing their best. My issue is more with how the gym is managed at a higher level.

I’m a Black Card member, and almost every time I try to use features like the massage chairs or red light therapy, I end up waiting 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes because the only person working is tied up cleaning or helping someone else. I understand they have a lot to do, but it’s frustrating when there’s no one available to assist with something I’m paying extra for.

It doesn’t seem like a staffing issue the employees can fix — they’re doing everything they can. But management really needs to make sure there’s enough coverage so members can actually use the amenities without delays.

The staff is wonderful. the equipment is first class and plentiful. My wife and I are seniors and joined as silver slippers members. The experience has been wonderful since the first day we walked in the door. We walk quite a bit on the beach and the boardwalk, but our sessions at planet fitness are what keep us nimble.

Set the combination lockers didn't work for me. I came out of the shower in a towel carrying my shampoo and soap and couldn't open my locker! Had to ask someone to get a staff person to open the locker with a key. Checked the instructions on the inside of the locker again to make sure I didn't screw up and I didn't. Staff said it happens sometimes. Check the operation of the locker before you put anything inside. Other than that, the place was clean and the person who helped me into my locker was very nice.

Agree with other reviewers. I am visiting and this location is dirty, cramped and many machines are out of order. There is trash and dust in the cup holders on the treadmills. People are walking into each other as the machines are so close together. Not enough cleaning stations. The place smells like mold. Bathroom is dirty. Please take pride in your establishment.

I was a member for several years but decided to leave because it was 20 miles from my home. I cancelled my membership on Sunday March 2nd but they told me I did not cancel in time by Saturday March 1st so I was refused reimbursement for my annual fee for 2025. I thought being on a weekend the cancellation date would be Monday March 3rd. I am 66 years old and retired on a fixed income and I thought this was a really poor management decision and have told many, many people. Overall the gym was a good experience when I was there, however I will continue to warn people about this.

It’s bad enough that the gym only opens at 7 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Covid is over. This is BS. Saturday, March 29 the gym opened at 7:30. Sunday, March 30, 2025 at least 50 people left because at 7:45 the gym was still not open. This is purely bad management and ridiculous. People aren’t going because they want to many are going because they have to. This is unexcused terrible management.

2023. Clean, friendly staff, lots of equipment. My only issue which Is a big one is that when a piece of equipment breaks it seems like they don’t get repaired in a timely fashion. Months pass by and nothing. My favorite machines have been broken for a time ( stair climbers). And now the dip/pull up assist machine is broken.

3/1/25. Follow-up review. My previous review was 2 years ago. I was hoping that my follow up review was going to be positive but every time I come here I am disappointed. Am I getting a good workout? Yes, which is why I kept it at 3 stars. Seems the issue with the equipment has been corrected so I’m glad to give credit when credit is due but since then the professionalism of the staff has decreased significantly. Seems like they are all annoyed to be there and don’t seem to do much other then talk amongst each other. Not one greeting or smile comes from behind that counter just pure annoyance. Lots of times the front desk area is empty which blows my mind because anyone can just walk in without checking in and no one to attend to patrons looking to purchase drinks or check into the black card access area. Today the front rest was empty for nearly 30 minutes! Not an employee in site and there was a group of people waiting to speak to someone. The cleanliness of the gym has declined. The floors are filthy and the bathrooms are gross. The toilets are always dirty but despite knowing that I went to go use a toilet the other day and saw that there was no toilet paper, and they use the extra large rolls, so that means that no one has checked in probably days. I know I can easily just get a gym membership someplace else but I’ve been a member of planet fitness for over 20 years and have visited many throughout the country and could honestly say that this one is no where near the worse. I have given 1 star reviews to quite a few so I’m grateful that my local gym isn’t that bad but I’m confident they can do better. And let’s be honest. You cannot beat the price! 😅. I’m sure these problems are nothing that better management can’t fix. I hope they figure it out.

It’s not good business sense to tell bad review after bad review to attempt to fix these things by talking to management. I’m considering canceling my membership due to the excessive amount of broken equipment at this Planet Fitness. When I visited today, I counted at least nine machines out of order, including three of the four stair steppers. I understand that occasional maintenance is necessary, but having this many machines down for weeks is unacceptable. Members are paying for access to a functional gym, yet it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get a proper workout.

Very clean!! The staff are exceptional, always willing to help with a cheerful demeanor. Planet Fitness makes it so affordable to go to the gym, even the black membership is so much cheaper then all the Gyms in my area and has incredible perks added with that membership. Planet Fitness in Rio Grande is a great place for a workout when I am at the Shore on the weekends. The gym is always clean, well maintained and spatial. The built-in combination locks on the lockers are very useful and you won't have to worry about bringing one from home. PPE is ample if you're into disinfectant. Lastly, the attendants are always friendly and helpful.

They don’t really open at 7:00am on Saturday. I write this sitting outside watching a line of people stand at the door past their opening time waiting to get in. PF charges for a 24/7 gym. The staff is nice however they close the tanning 30-40 mins before they even close. Where on the website does it say this because hours of operation states that it's open until 10 pm. If I arrive at 9:28pm after I've just rushed there after work, why am I getting turned away? If this is a policy then they should mention it in the hours of operation. And just because no one tanned between 9 o'clock and 9:20 doesn't mean they should close early. I pay over $25 a month. I'm a single mother working a full time job. It's literally the only time during the week I can make it there. At this point I just want to cancel my membership.

I had my membership canceled due to a policy violation for telling a GM Kevin C that the bathrooms aren't clean. It wasn't even a public complaint. But then, when Kevin emailed me back saying they cleaned the bathrooms hourly, well, I lost it. Please clean your bathrooms. No one want to have to step around used kotex on a daily basis. The showers have trash and used soap in them for days. You don't offer a personal trainer or stay open 24 hours. Apparently, telling the truth is a violation. Sorry about that. I'm a truthful person. Next time, don't lie to a customer who sees much more than the managers that once in a bluemoon do their job.

so on May 28 2024 date I stopped at planet fitness to work out and he told me that I need to pay five dollars more because I’m not a member there at their gym they also say that I only get 10 visits per month at a gym that is not my home gym so if you go away expecting you to the gym more than 10 days at a planet fitness.you are gonna pay an extra five dollars
if I transfer my membership to their club I wouldn’t get charge but in order for me to transfer back I have to wait 90 days before they transferred back to my home gym
I am a one pass membership black card membership, so I will join another gym somewhere else down the shore if I was to leave it the way it is I would be paying an extra $55 a month for the days I needed to go to the gym
one other thing the policy for this above is buried inside the website it should be on the front page. Thank you, Bob.

Planet Fitness posts everywhere in their facility to wipe down the machines after each use. It's a good rule. I'm sure it helps with cleanliness and health.

So what's happened, they are constantly out of paper tales and spray cleaner. Have they ran out of money to buy them ? Is it poor management? They are located by 3 grocery stores.

Several pieces of equipment broken and have been for a while. Padding and hand grips on many of the equipment need replacement. Water fountain is always broken. Have to wait constantly for someone to come check you in for the massage equipment. In all the bad reviews the owner replies tell the manager. Lots of people have told the manager but things still are not fixed.
