This gym used to be really great! I’m basing this 1 star on the playlist last night. Please play music from all cultures I felt like I was in Punta Cana on a vacation, but without the weather. Get it together and I’ll change my review.

Honestly this review would be a 1/5 due to overcrowding, lack of private rooms, lack of equipment. Except for the staff members like Matt and Ant! Matt always says hi and Goodbye even if he is in the middle of something, it always makes my day. Ant is always a treat though I do not see him as often. They’re always ready to answer questions and make your day a little better :) shout out Matt and Ant!

The heaviest dumbbells are 75 lb which is the lightest I’ve ever seen at a commercial gym.
No loadable bars for change weights.
It seems like there are plenty of machines including smith machines.

I must say what an amazing general manager they have at the planet fitness location in rockaway. I went in to close out my account because expensive have increased in my household. I started getting frustrated, she was so sweet she took time to listen and gave so alternative to closing out account. The most amazing thing after chatting with her is that I decided I should keep my membership anyway. Thank you Montana you rock.

I like it for the most part. The people at the desk are friendly. It's clean. I wish the cleaning solution was more easily accessible and in more areas. It seems like they are always empty which is annoying.
Also, the water fountain really needs to be updated to a bottle filling one. But otherwise, it's one of the nicer planet fitnesses I've been to.

The machine selection seemed good. There was ample parking mostly well lit, and we were nicely greeted by the guy working the front.
However, I was disturbed to find a man cleaning the women's locker room, while a woman was cleaning out in the gym, and they expected everyone to be wrapping it up and getting out for closing.
What is wrong with this world? How are women supposed to know how to time their workout and shower to avoid sharing the space with unfamiliar men, when they are in a vulnerable position?
There is no reason a woman couldn't be cleaning the women's locker room and a man could clean the men's, to avoid any awkward discomfort. If, for some reason, this cannot be arranged, then they should wait until after closing, or until there are no more women needing in there.
This was a busy time in the locker room! There were no less than 10 women trying to tend to their business in there while trying to work around him. My friend and I, who drive truck, and can't just go home to shower, had to wait until he was done mopping the changing rooms and showers before we could get in, making it so we couldn't even get everything finished before they closed.
Which leads me to my next point. WHY are you closing at 9pm on a Friday night!? There were probably 20-30 people spread across the gym, at closing, trying desperately to finish their workout when the guy yelled you were closed, to come back in the morning, bc people usually split their workout between nighttime and again first thing in the morning.🙄
There were even a couple people who had to finish their workout in the parking lot! It's Friday night and a LOT of members clearly were not finished at 9pm. I can't imagine this is the first time this has happened.
I think it is time to rethink your hours, to meet the needs of your members, and you definitely need to rethink your policies on cross-gender cleaning, in the locker rooms, especially during busy hours. ALL members should be able to feel comfortable and safe especially in the vulnerable areas of the locker rooms.

I just wanted to make sure that Gonzalo gets the Recognition of how great he was to me and to other customers that want to get a work out in. From the moment I walked in, he was super eager to help and made sure I had everything I needed. He was respectful, patient, and really welcoming, it honestly made my whole visit feel a lot smoother. On top of that, you can tell he really lives the Planet Fitness lifestyle because he looks pretty fit himself, which is motivating to see when you walk in. It’s always great to be greeted by someone who’s positive, professional, and clearly cares about making members feel comfortable. This young man is the best!
