I come here very often and im glad they upgraded their machines and added new equipment. However, they absolutely overcrowded the purple room with machines and equipment no one uses, now the machines are on top of each other. Example , i was using the ab declined bench as i normally do and curled forward i was inches away from someones rear end and i was almost in an atm situation .. easy fix guys .. move some of these machines into the yellow room that is practically empty now ..

I have to say this is one of my favorite planet fitnesses/gyms out there. It is huge compared to other planet fitnesses and it has so many useful equipment. This gym even has three power cages where you can squat/deadlift which is the first time I saw in a planet fitness. The facility including the locker rooms is also very clean.

Lots of people sitting on machines on their phones for longer than the actual workout. People have no civic sense lately.
People recording and photographing in the men's locker rooms while people changing etc without consent thats an invasion of privacy and a possible lawsuit.

I come regularly at 5am 5-6 days a week . It’s a shame that 1 person I see working her butt off and the others not lifting a finger . I myself am in customer service and I feel that the other workers “young kids” need to help out . Either you want to be here or not . I have to thank the lady name Becky who is here and opens up . She is non -stop always cleaning very nice and cheerful . Now she is a great worker to have in a place like this . She obviously takes her job serious and I can see where many others don’t . You have to take pride in what you do . Becky is the best worker I have seen in the almost 2 years I been coming here . Please give her a raise and let go the people who are lazy ! Thank you . I hope to see some changes that will improve this establishment!

Hand sanitizer dispensers are there but they are always empty . No cold water available and look like filters are not changed frequently . Only one declined bench is available. Limited ropes and other accessories. Otherwise clean and lots of cardiao equipment are there

I would give 0 stars if I could. Planet used to be great with cleaning but now it’s going down hill. When the new manager Ricky started it was always clean. Probably the only good thing he does there. He makes so many inappropriate comments to members and staff. Don’t know how he is allowed to be a GM with how much he sexually harasses women. Need the higher ups to see how he acts before they lose more members because of him, I will be canceling my membership until he is fired.

I enjoy coming to this location but it's becoming frustrating that there are so many kids hanging out, standing around, hogging machines, benches, and weights in the evening. People will go elsewhere if nothing is done to manage this.

I've been here roughly for a year now and I have to say: recently my experience has been pretty bad at this location. I'm the type to go to the gym in the morning because I want to avoid the crowds. But in these recent months, there are way too many people on the benches, cables and machines. This is in the morning around 8-9am btw so imagine how crowded it get around peak hours.

Also I recently had a bad experience where I was doing incline dumbbell bench presses and I had a employee sneak up on me mid-rep with 80 lbs. on my chests. I obviously was very surprised, dropped the dumbbells. She told me 1) that I shouldn't drop the dumbbells and 2) told me to put away my bag. I just think this is a pretty rude way to treat a customer.

Anyhow, there are pretty other big box gyms in the area. Currently looking for a new gym membership.

I come here so I don't have to be harassed and bothered not to be told which is my option to wear or not wear Eyewear. Very rude staff some of their members I think need to get checked out because it seems like they are bipolar and have temper tantrums and are very racist I am definitely changing locations after the experience that I just had at this location. Lady was very rude and screaming at me for no reason I don’t know if she’s a manager or what she is but she should be fired. never did I ever get treated like this from anyone at any kind of business for literally no reason the lady started screaming at me as I went to sign in because my husband was helping me, she started screaming at me and throwing me out. And telling me I have an attitude because she asked to, and I told her my name is Alex, I don’t know if she was having a bad day or whatever the reason is, but she needs help and should not be at the front desk or around people she was screaming in the gym and being a nuisance. All the people around was looking and laughing at her. She was acting as a complete animal I am in shock right now. Being Treated like this is not worth the $30 membership. She started throwing me and my husband out. I asked her what is your problem and she said you are the problem. I do not know this Lady calling her Lady is actually being too nice because she did not act like a lady or have any manners or know how to treat people, I even told her this is not how to treat customers, but she did not care and continue screaming at me but I will not ever enter this location again, and I don’t think anyone ever should from the way that they treat members and people it is really ridiculous. Rude staff and clueless staff at South Plainfield. Ok, planet fitness only allows day passes at specific locations which is not specifically clear. I came scanned in, the staff said nothing so I proceed to go to change. One staff member follows me to the bathroom and says, “who you wit?” I explain and he tells me only Edison does the passes, almost acting as a security guard rather than gym staff. No mention of an alternative or membership options. I recognize this and say alright, this is definitely not the place to be spending my cash, and I start to leave. Outside is another staff, who says, “you didn’t hear me say excuse me?” I say no and she begins to give off quite an attitude and then proceeds to walk away without offering an alternative like purchasing a day pass or membership options. —Manager, teach your point of entry staff Sales & Customer Service 101 and tell them to drop the DISCRIMINATORY tone and attitude.

I do not recommend planet fitness to anyone. Its easier for them to take your money than for them to help cancel your membership.
I've been paying on a account for 3 years that I wasn't even aware that was active cause I was turned away cause payment was declined. I was told by south plainfield store manager Maria that in order to cancel I would have to pay any outstanding balance which I did and I would be able to cancel my subscription online. After trying to cancel online I proceeded to call store location back an was told by someone else that now i would have to send in a letter for cancellation. All in all horrible experience. 3 years worth of free money

I would like to start, by being absolutely clear. The current rating of 1, has nothing to do, with the employees, within this PF location. The employees, continue to do, a outstanding job. They're the reason, I awarded with, a five star rating, prior to this review. In contrast, to them, as stated by owner, posted 3wks. ago,"employees showing what PF is all about" and I, strongly agree. However, PF establishment, falls short. It's been proven, to be a great disappointment, when theft is reported, to the overseers, of this location. On Aug. 19, 2024, I reported theft of property, on PF premises, to Maria Suarez and Ya'Shira Hurtado. I stated, whom the person is, location and approximate time frame. I also mentioned, it may have been captured, on the security camera. As a result, Maria took the necessary steps, contacting upper management and IT personal, based on instructions, she received. As of today's date, Sept. 25, 2024, no one, has viewed any footage, regarding my concern. That being the case, this individual Black Card Member, is still able to frequent PF, which means, other's are at risk, of being victimized. Is this the PF way? Equally important, IT personal recently came, to this location and my concerns, continue to fall on deaf ears. To close, better policy practices, need to be administered and disappointed, I remain. Recently new location and the staff is always diligent about keeping the machines, floors and restrooms very clean. I have been to a few other gyms franchises and I will stay with Planet Fitness. The organization of the equipment is spacious and not on top of the others, giving you ample room to workout without bumping into people. When a machine is down for repairs, it's usually fixed within a day or two. As a black card holder, I enjoy using the hydro massage chairs, but they have plenty of other amenities. After working out as many other PF locations, I really like the size and cleanliness of my local PF best.

This gym was very near to my house. I’m a member for a year now. I was in India for a month and when I came back, this gym was closed. The notice said they are relocating but did not put up the new branch details. Neither did they contact me through call or email. I had even raised an issue through the feedback form. But no reply to that as well. This is ridiculous. I have been debited the gym fee for this month when the gym is actually closed neither am I aware of the new location. These guys should be sued for fraud
