I practiced at PFY Jersey City for six months, loved the studio! It’s clean, well organized, offers a shower but the best part is definitely the teachers. Gabrielle brings deep expertise in not just the physical asana aspect of the practice, but sound knowledge of its philosophical underpinnings, which is rare to find in the highly commercialized yoga industry these days. I always left her class feeling energized and joyful regardless of how stressful my day was. Don’t be fooled by her “slow flow”, this slower paced version was sometimes more intense, but always rewarding!

Among my other favorites are Susan Tee and Sarah. Their classes had upbeat energy, good tunes and most importantly, a fun side. Tracy, Raymond and Autumn were always helpful and a friendly face at the studio.

I also did the 20 in 30 challenge (where one had to do 20 classes in 30 days, harder than it sounds!) and earned a cute tank top upon completing it!

Powerflow Jersey City is such an amazing yoga studio. The space is always clean, peaceful, and welcoming. The teachers are incredible—so knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely supportive. It’s such a great community to be a part of. Highly recommend!

I took the $75 Intro monthly membership. While the studio is small, it's neat and always cleaned in between classes. There are some very experienced and amazing teachers like Susan, Sarah and Gabrielle. Plus, some amazing advanced members who are absolutely inspiring!
While I thoroughly enjoyed my 1 month, I dont think I'll convert as a regular member as I dont enjoy yoga with loud music and bright lights. Plus the fact that I have to carry my own mat and towel (wish towels were provided at least). However, I do recommend this yoga studio as this is an awesome place for serious yoga. Perhaps, I will return ocassionally with a weekly pass :)

Unfortunately, this no longer feels like a true yoga studio. The schedule is starting to dominate by Pilates and circuit training, which shifts the focus away from traditional yoga practice.

Despite being branded as "Hot Yoga," the studio is often kept at a lukewarm temperature due to instructors frequently airing out the room. While it's important to accommodate those sensitive to heat, that's precisely the purpose of non-heated yoga studios. Those attending Hot Yoga expect — and deserve — a genuinely heated environment.

Without echoing other negative reviews too much, it’s unclear why instructors insist on keeping the lights fully on throughout the class. A more ambient lighting setting would enhance the atmosphere and support a more meditative, focused practice.

When the class is full, you're almost guaranteed to encounter your neighbor's body — whether it's a bump from their bum or a drop of sweat — since the assigned mat spaces are only about 6 inches apart.

The studio should either rebrand itself to reflect its current focus—such as 'Power Pilates'—or return to its original identity as a dedicated Hot Yoga studio.

I have been practicing yoga for the past 3 years in Jersey City. Powerflow is really one of the best studios in JC, for dedicated practitioners. I have had the privilege of taking classes with Susan (who motivates us by saying...we can do hard things), Melissa (focused on body alignment) and Gabrielle (teavhing us balance - between effort and ease)- all of them are great, and have taught me great life lessons.
One of my favorite classes has been that of Gabrielle's - back to back on Sunday evenings. It is soul stirring. Gabrielle truly brings a unique approach to teaching- one of devotion, dedication and determination. She is very well-versed with yoga principles and practice, and is genuinely invested in her students' growth and journey. I feel lucky to have met a teacher like her, and thank you Powerflow for making this happen!

I've been a PowerFlow yoga member for over a year and absolutely love the variety of classes and instructors. Special shoutout to Gabrielle Williams—her slow flow and yin yoga classes on Sunday afternoons are pure magic! Gabrielle brings incredible knowledge of yogic scriptures combined with a strong emphasis on safe alignment. You'll definitely work up a sweat while respecting your body's limits, which is what yoga is all about—connecting with both body and soul. Thank you, Gabrielle!

Sarah Marsh and Susan Tee are also wonderful, with the groovy playlists and thoughtful focus on pose safety, respectively. The whole team creates such a supportive environment. Highly recommend PowerFlow to anyone looking for authentic, well-rounded yoga practice!

Great workout. Horrible bright lighting.
I believe they are a chain or a corporate franchise, so maybe they can’t change this. Maybe they have to keep the lights full brightness because they have no choice. But it’s horrible for yoga, can’t focus, meditate or get fully into the flow when the lights are so bright.
I’m not making this up, there’s research behind dim lighting and being able to hold out in the heat for longer. Even for power flow’s, I felt that most people would push more and get a better workout in if the lights were off.
Again, maybe they can’t change this, but it’s the only reason I won’t go again, lights too bright. If that doesn’t bother you, then go right ahead, it’s a good hot yoga workout.

I signed up for Rupa Shankar’s community class in Powerflow yoga. It was awesome. I was engaged and thoroughly enjoyed it. Powerflow yoga has a bigger space and it accommodated more people in there. Instructor has a good understanding of yoga asanas and she was explaining it very well. Good to know the actual names of the asanas in Sanskrit and she did explain it very well. It reminded people about Indian origins of yoga. Rupa tailored the class to accommodate both the beginner and intermediate yogis.
It was a nice workout!

Was lookin for a hot yoga studio in Jersey City. Tried a few others in JC/Hoboken but they weren’t hot enough or didn’t feel like I got a good workout in. Came here for the first time and LOVED it. Aleixa was our instructor and she was awesome. I was so sad to hear she was only a substitute teacher. Hopefully they bring her on full time soon! Will definitely be back!

I am pretty much a beginner at yoga, have been taking classes semi-consistently for about a year, and enjoy following routines on YouTube. My first experience at Powerflow was through classpass and it was absolutely baffling to me.

First of all, they make you wait outside if you arrive late so that you enter after everyone has finished centering themselves, because otherwise it's distracting. This is totally fair. I only bring this up to juxtapose with the fact that class is conducted in the least soothing, least relaxing way possible. Hot yoga is already challenging. On top of that, the instructor was very loud and it felt like I was being yelled at the entire time. She yelled out changes in poses like they were drill orders. At one point, she was going too fast for me to hit every pose feasibly so I just had to ignore them and go at my own pace.

It's a big room, it's crowded, I get it. You could invest in a mic? That's not the only thing that's disrupting about the way she leads class. For one pose, she was across the room from me, but it was loud enough for everyone in the room to hear her telling one student, "Look here! Look here!" And literally slapped the wood floor in front of their mat to demonstrate where they should look.

How is that necessary? How is that not distracting to other students in the class? Her conduct was giving sloppy. The class felt like the antithesis of what yoga practice should be about. If you want to be yelled at, there are plenty of other workout formats to try! I want my yoga classes to be like an escape from the outside world, a place where I can feel grounded in my own body, let go of anxieties and stresses from my life. Instead, I found myself in an environment that only grated on me even further. Powerflow will not be the place for me to develop my practice. I won't even bring up the playlist of pop, jazz, and mumble rap. So confused.

Another alarming thing I noticed: we did the pose where you are sitting and twist over your knee. The instructor encouraged a student to push for her full bind, even though the student was clearly sacrificing posture of the low back in order to reach all the way around. Yoga is not just about striving for the cool poses; even I as a beginner know that much.

There are a lot of good reviews, somehow. I know there aren't that many options in JC, but yoga classes are not all held like this. It should not take going on a retreat with the instructors to get something out of your practice. So confused.

Thank you to Melissa and Autumn for organizing the wonderful day retreats. I had attended two so far - one at Mt. Tammany and another at Jersey beach—and both were exceptionally well-organized and enjoyable. These retreats offer a fantastic opportunity to meet new people while engaging in a perfect blend of physical activities like yoga and hiking, along with exploring the local community of New Jersey. The pricing is very reasonable. Looking forward to future events. 😊

I've been practicing at PFY for 5+ years now - and from pre-pandemic to now, it continues to hold the spot as a second home. I've met life long friends while karmi-ing at the front desk & practiced alongside my teachers who I will consider my teachers for life (a special shout out to Jeff, Sarah Marsh, Susan Tee, and honestly all of the JC teaching staff). Even during rough bouts of life over the years, my happiness runs back to being in my community at PFY. ❤️

Just a shout out about Melissa G's class! Loved it! Her passion and knowledge truly shine through, making each session inspiring and transformative, especially the alignment aspect. She has a unique way of pushing us out of our comfort zones on the mat, which has profoundly impacted my life off the mat as well. Melissa truly creates a welcoming space Thanks for being such a motivating teacher!

I've only been practicing yoga for about two years but someone in my building told me to seek out Jeff Scios who I found at Power Flow Yoga in Jersey City. The studio itself is a really great place to practice and all of the instructors are top-notch. Jeff, definitely stands out of all the places I've practiced. If you're looking for a total mind, body and spirit reset, get yourself to one of Jeff's classes. He gives above and beyond each and every class and goes out of his way to enlighten, encourage and educate his students with knowledge you could only get from a true guru master. Thank you, Jeff! You definitely make the world a lot more tolerable to navigate through!

I've been taking at Powerflow Yoga for several years in Hoboken and now Jersey City and I can't gush about them enough. Haven't taken from a bad instructor there yet, Jeff Scios, James DelosReyes, Sarah Marsh are all the teachers I take from regularly and they're ALL as Top Drawer as you can find! Susan Tee however gets the Top Award this week for proving 'Most Calm, Cool & Collected' in a potentially volatile situation during Friday's 5pm Hot 26/2 class. A very irritable woman was in class and not doing well, as a matter of fact she'd professed her fear and anxiety before hand, and was voicing her anxiety throughout. Susan gently approached to assist if she could, and this woman loudly bellowed, "I'm not having a good, time, I wish I wasn't here and I don't want to talk to anyone!" Susan calmly stepped back and let her do her thing, one could surmise this angst riddled lady was looking to be shown the door, but Susan took the high road. She let her do her thing and the woman thankfully remained quiet and showed better yoga etiquette afterwards. Susan instinctively knew the best way to handle this Dame, and she proceeded in teaching a genuinely wonderful class as she always does. Bravo, Susan Tee! You and the Powerflow team are yet again showing how it's done! Cheers Team!

Powerflow Yoga in jersey city is great! The studio is well equipped and has everything you could possibly need or want and the instructors are fantastic! I just took Melissa G’s class. It was challenging for me but Melissa makes everyone, regardless of ability or experience feel welcomed and offers optional advice specific to each student to help you benefit completely from your practice:)

It is an amazing yoga studio with some excellent teachers, such as Jeff Scios, Autumn Perez, and Susan Tee. However, some teachers like Melissa G, are very transactional, money-minded, and hypocritical. On the one hand, they complain about how it annoys them when students don't follow their advice, and on the other, when a student tries to follow their advice, they suggest booking a private session. My interaction with Melissa G. was disappointing.

I absolutely love the yoga here and the instructors. I’m giving a lower review because on three separate occasions, the instructor didn’t show up and there was no one manning the front desk so I would book it to class, and no one would be in the studio. It’s a real bummer when you organize your schedule and make it out to the studio only to be met with a locked door. They never apologized or offered replacement classes or discounts despite this (even though, if a student did this, it would definitely be an issue). If they got their admin and hours in order, it would definitely be a 5/5.

I’ve always dabbled in yoga but fell in love with it once I started coming to this studio. Every teacher offers a different experience yet it’s still beginner friendly. Modifications are constantly offered for beginners and the more advanced. I recommend Jeff for a challenging class but I also love James, Gabby, Autumn and Suzanne. I haven’t had the chance to take the other instructors yet, but I’m sure they’re wonderful too!! 10/10 recommend this place

Classes and teachers are good. Solid Yoga, good heat, plenty of challenge, diverse styles.

Studio ergonomics aka. changing areas, mat placement in the studio, and general organization could use significant improvement. Massive congestion getting in and out of class - could be fixed with a redesign of interior space and clearer signage/direction. Could benefit from following prevailing wisdom of other hot yoga studios like Modo, especially marking all mat spots in the studio to avoid all the last minute shuffling when people are late.

But again, the Yoga itself and the teachers are solid.

I am a lover of this studio and all of the great teachers you bring in. Kaity, Gabriella, Sam and Bryan all some of my favorites. Just took a class with Bryan last night. Bryan is exquisite. His class is like NO other class I’ve ever experienced in the best way. Not your traditional yoga class. He transcends time and space and has the ability to guide your mind in a way that quiets the outside world and truly allows you to go inward and reconnect with your soul. The fluid movement he choreographs feels GOOD on the body. In some ways, almost like an “animal flow meets yoga”Challenging at times but in a way that doesn’t build tension, it builds resilience and mental strength we all need, yet nourishing to the entire body and soul. Love you Bryan! Everyone needs to experience this extra special human. 🌟🌟🌟

This is my first time with powerflow and will be my last time. Booked 18.30 -19.45 class, no instructor came and no communication until 18.45, front desk came and said the teacher is not coming and you can choose to wait or attend next class. Eventually a different teacher came in at 18.57, she said we will end the class at around 19.55, which is already missing 15 min and she actually ended the class at 19.45. Not to speak her class was poorly designed, vague instructions, random transitions between poses, voice too soft cannot hear cleay, sometimes she doesn't practice with students, leaving us looking at each other trying to figure out what poses to do.

I never leave a poor review for a yoga studio, however, bad it might be but here I was so compelled.

I was booked for a hot yoga class which wasn't hot by any standards. Very dissatisfied because I was craving a hot yoga class and this was inaccurately advertised. It was barely 80° in comparison to a traditional 105°.

Moreover, I was strongly disappointed to see that covid restrictions weren't being followed at all. The instructor (who was also at the desk) tried to take my temperature at arrival and was unsuccessful because her thermometer gun wasn't working. Above that, I was deeply concerned that despite a full class, wearing masks was not mandatory.

In transparency, I did want to leave because I felt uncomfortable and seeing this the teacher then asked the class to wear masks. But overall, I was pretty disappointed.

I attended Sunday Vinyasa class. Very beginner class, even though the description said it was Power Vinyasa class, very few modifications were offered for advanced practitioners. It was a great class for a beginner or someone new to Yoga, definitely not for someone who’s practicing for a while. Also the temperature was warm, not hot! Class was listed as 75 minutes and the teacher ended about 5 mins earlier.
