I met my intructor from there during the pandemic, but it close down and never opened. They have excellent instructors and classes, it's in a great location. Even if I have to drive a bit. It was worth it.

Place is completely falling apart inside. Owner puts buckets for water leaks . Ceiling is disgusting , something is wrong with every machine , either out of service, cables are all broken, gym equipment is horrendous and disgusting. You can't find 2 matching dumbells, weights and benches are scattered all over the place. I'm sure this will be a nice place to go if your a slob, but this place is nasty. Oh and 3 years now, no Air condition it would get upwards of 80 degrees in there. Place will shut down out of no where. Mark my words, the days are numbered with this place. Place has potential just needs the right Owner. No longer a member there, willing to drive a extra 10 minutes to a gym that is worth it.

Do not join. I’d give this place 0 if that was possible. Management shut down the gym during covid and continued to charge us for membership fees, despite not providing any service. When our membership expired and we told them we didn’t want to renew, they continued to charge us. Management claimed “there was nothing he could do about it.” Had to threaten them with legal action and have a stand up argument with them at the gym to shame him into refunding the money he stole from us - over $1000 dollars. So like I said DO NOT JOIN. Oh and half the equipment doesn’t work - including the a/c which was broken for months through the sweltering summer heat.

I been a member here around three years
So the last time I was there was beginning of March 2020. I still do not feel comfortable going so I noticed a payment was being taking out in June 2020. I spoke with the owner he said he will stop payment so payments were stopped on March 2021 I noticed a payment taken out of a maintenance fee 59.00 still have not been there Why would a payment come out and I haven't been there. The gym is old, so, so, so old and outdated. There are are holes on the walls, the ceilings, sometimes the second floor smells terribly, no one cleans up after themselves, the workers don't clean either, only time i see a staff member organizing is on Sundays and is always the same person, everyone else never cleans. I used to shower at the gym in the mornings before going to work but it became impossible, they only have one working shower in the women's bathroom and it smells like mold, the bathroom is divided into two sections and the back section smells terribly. I never use it (especially because there are only two stalls and one has been out of order since I signed up in January) but when i want to auto start my car i usually do it from that window and the 20 seconds i'm in there are terrible. I signed up for a $20 a month membership but they keep charging my card $26.72, i guess these are the hidden fees everyone keeps talking about. I'm stuck on a contract for the remaining of the year and I will keep using it only because I refuse to let my money go to waste, but the moment my membership is through i'm canceling it. Nice people but if they aren't willing to make the place presentable and comfortable for its customers then I don't see why I should continue paying them.

First of all I just want to say that all the 5 star reviews are fake. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I am not writing this out of hate just to warn people from making the same mistake that I did. The gym was nice at first .... however, I was on the $19.99 plan and I had to stop working out for about 3 months and they charged me the entire of my contract which was almost $500. They told me I could just pay the months that I missed plus late fees but I could not get out of the CONTRACT unless I MOVE 25 miles away or pay the almost $500. She said even if I moved 15 or 20 miles away once it’s not 25 miles away, you have to pay. I asked the manager themself if they could cut me a deal somewhere because after hearing that honestly i didn’t trust this gym anymore. She said no, she doesn’t make the contracts. That’s when I knew that they don’t really care. Listen for anyone looking to sign up to this gym, I recommend that you stay FAR away. BUYER BEWARE

I’ve been a member of powerhouse for over 2 years now. For the first year and a half the upstairs air conditioning was horrible. (Mind you that is where the cardio machines are) they finally got around to fixing that. The equipment is outdated but yes it works. I never seen anyone clean or re-rack the weights. I did it myself in many occasions. All things that were bearable. Now they up and decided that they will no longer offer 24 hours Mon-Thur. I have convinced many of my girlfriends and male friends to join. One of which would like to cancel her membership because although she never used the 24 access, that was the selling point in her switching over to powerhouse. We spoke to the manager yesterday which gave us the run around on contacting the billing department to see what he can do. I know he could have cancelled with a click of the button. He only wants to cancel (waive the contract) people who can during those hours he no longer offers. It shouldn’t matter if we came or not. You offered 24 hours at the time of the contract and now you don’t. The same way you can up and change what was offered I should have the opportunity to decided if this no longer works for us. I will post again once we figure out if his customer service will be suitable for a retraction of this post. I will be sharing his decision with you all as well as the members I have referred and those I come in contact with.

Powerhouse gym great place to work out friendly people knowledgeable staff. The locker rooms and equipment are always kept clean. When equipment is down, it usually repaired within 2 to 3 days. my 1st time at the gym maybe I have to get use to it but some of the machines look broke down I’m actually annoyed I signed up for it I guess because it’s near my home I just signed up just because. But they need to upgrade equipments and a paint job with the money they get they should invest in that. If it were up to me and I owed this gym it would be upgraded and cleaner so many more people can enjoy a good work out. Horrible. They find ways to charge you extra left and right. Staff is rude. Only gym I ever saw that has no water fountains, only bottled water for sale. Air conditioning was broken five or six times.
Wouldnt let me cancel when I moved to a new town even though I asked them twice to cancel and they say that membership is "month to month." And now they have a collection agency going after me for all the months after I tried twice to cancel!!!. They are liars and thieves!!! Only join if you dont mind having your credit rating ruined for no reason.

The gym is ok. The staff is pretty decent however. I made the mistake of not reading the fine print. I stayed in a two year contract & when I was done, they would not let me cancel. They stated that I needed to put my request in writing & would have to stay on for two additional months. I couldn't believe it! Yeah. It's not state-of-the-art. They let people put gym bags on the floors. They let people leave the weights out. There are no towels. The music might be the worst I've ever heard in a gym setting. So what? I go to train. Not to cry and whine about my surroundings. The Fitness Trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and willing to help. The front desk staff smile constantly and make entering and exiting fun. It's real easy to make anonymous complaints from your laptop in your living room but people reading are not stupid. We know there are three sides to every story and, chances are, you were wrong. Greg has been in this business for 35 years. He knows the importance of customer service. I know if someone stole MY money, I'd be swinging on him not crying on the Internet like a little girl. So, please, go away. Let real men know the truth. The truth is: No frills. I've been a part of many local gyms and by far this is the worst gym in the tri-state area. The only reason I even decided to join was because it was the closest one to my house but my membership only lasted for several months. The staff is super antisocial, their equipment is in dire need of repair and updating and the ventilation is very poor. They have a little room for boxing/punching bags
Its open 24 hours 4 days of the week
Can be empty or relatively low traffic at odd ours.

Cons:
-Equipment is poorly maintained and they charge you an annual maintenance fee on top of membership (why? equipment is not maintained)
-Air conditioning is non existent, going there during summer is hell
-Not open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night even though its 24/7? plus Sunday hours are too short, they close at 6...

This gym is actually a really good gym if you know the difference between two gyms. Unlike your regular fitness centers where there's alarms for noise rules for no grunting or dropping weights. Powerhouse is a hard-core gym for serious athletes only this gym is actually great for getting your body into shape , fantastic for power and strength training this gym has the potential to sculpture your body as if it was clay .. The fact that it has broken equipment is fantastic it shows the hard work dedication and honor that went in to this Gym equipment is always replace but with new machine as they keep the old ones which I tend to love it's worth the extra 20 bucks on your membership to work out peacefully with nobody bothering you could make much noise as you want although I will say the cleaning maintenance needs to pick up a little bit but besides that this gym is fantastic also has boxing training room with multiple punching bags The first floor has multiple weights including weight machine and re-Hardcore machinery and free weights lots of 45 pounder plates pull-up bars and everything you could think of including cable cross extensions but don't forget the second floor which has woman's aerobics room multiple treadmills ellipticals and a woman's private training section notice the difference between your gym this gym is a hard-core/fitness center there is no other gym like this left. this is an old-school style of training which is fantastic if Arnold was to walk in he will want to be Mr. Olympia all over again

I don't even know where to begin. My mom signed me a year contract there and it was okay in the beginning. Then my mom started having financial difficulties and so we decided to cancel it. When we went and Maria said I couldn't cancel it because it's a year contract even though I tried explaining the situation. Then they said I could switch the account with someone else which was complete bullshit because they wouldn't let me do it. So now I have to pay the year even though I'm not going. My mom is now in debt with this piece of crap gym. The gym smells horrible and it is so cramped. There is no air so you just drown in your sweat and the horrible smell. It is just disgusting. After a 3 day pass with my sister-in-law, I was really impressed with the gym. What really sold me was the Women's Only section. MARIAAAA is NEVERRR there!!!! this gym a total rip OFF. half the equipment is OLD or BROKEN. the trainers are MONEY HUNGRY they really don't care about you as a client!!!!!!

Wow I walkED in to this gym and I was so amazed on hoW nice the manager is, Maria made me feel so so comfortable. WOW!!! that's very rear to see. I felt so good that I just joined based on Maria's amazing ways to interact with me. Also everyone while I was speaking with her was sayinh hello' it;s so obvious by her ways and great smile that she loves what she does.. I tell anyone if you are looking to join a gym GO SEE MARIA AT POWERHOUSE IN BLOOMFIELD... BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING MARIA IS...THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME FEEL SPECIAL...<3

Too expensive and poor maintenance, there is a planet fitness just opened in east Orange on Sussex ave, wayyy better a lot of equipments, 10X bigger parking lot and very clean just 10$ a month u save $22 :-). And when you want too cancel they force u to pay an extra 3 months of service that's how desperate they are this power house should be closed.

Bad customer service. This gym needs to be shut down its so bad. I was there for 4 years and when I said I was cancelling because I moved they charged me an extra 2 months!!! They falsely advertise that they are a 24 hour gym but they arent. They are only 24 hours a few days a week. Oh and its a 24 month comittment!!! Crappy customer service. Stay as far away from this gym as possible!!!!

This is probably the first gym, where even when you are on a month-to-month basis and yet you have to give them 2 month cancellation notice to cancel your membership even if you are moving out of state and would not even be able to use your membership at all.

horrible… after two month of visiting i decide to go someplace else… i pay the whole 2 years of the contract, now they dont want to cancel or refund the extra 4 months they took out of my account because they want me to sing a resignation letter AFTER MY CONTRACT WAS FUFILL… They are not satisfy with the 2 years of payment, they give you a hard time to get out of the expire contract. even thu i CALL 4 TIMES ( EACH MONTH) to speak to someone. Contract fulfill = no more payments, not to Power house gym. You need to give them a reason in writting why you dont want to be back. (HELLO!!!!!!) ohh by the way MARIA(THE MANAGER) says, If i was STUPID person that didnt know how to comprehend my contract. I do comprehend very well Ms. Maria… You are the one that can not comprehend the same costumers that pay your salary.

PS. when i joint in 2012 we were 8 of us with power house…. today We all left and its not because its dirty or broken equipment, is call COSTUMER SERVICE… NOT LET SQUEEZ THIS COSUMER UNTIL HE OR SHE COMPLAINTS….

If I could rate this a negative I would. I cancelled my membership by mail they claimed they never received it, filthy bathrooms, broken equipment, sanitary wipes are constantly out, towels are constantly out, the facility smells horrible, feels like it's constantly hot in there seems like no air ventilation or conditioning. If I took the time to write the review believe me it means look at the negative reviews because I made the same mistake and should of also. Overall disgusting and take that extra 5 min and go else where.

1/2 a star!! going to this gym for the las 3 months. mens bathroom is disgusting, never seen anyone cleaned the bathroom nor sanitized the equipment. clients leaved their weights and USED DIRTY PAPER TOWEL on the cup holder in the equipment they used, and that dirty paper towel will be there for days! meaning no one goes around to clean or sanitize the equipment, paper towel holders doesn't work or most of the time is empty. sanitary spray holder is a garbage container. can we say Bloomfield board of health...

Great gym. Excellent hours. I especially love the workout classes. The machines and equipment are always accessible as there never are too many people using all them at once. The location is also great as it is close to everything. The staff are always friendly, especially Maria who is ever so helpful; whether it's questions in general or training tips. As a girl, all male members treat women with a degree of respect (this is why I was suprised to read that a member was out of line and vocally disrepected someone's ethnicity). Then why didn't the boyfriend approach the staff with a formal complaint instead of just leaving the premises? All in all, I strongly recommend Powerhouse gym in Bloomfield.

In writing this review I would like mention this is my Dad's account. With that said, my name is Jim. I've been a member for the past three (3) years. And to my dismay I feel these negative reviews by members and non-members are smearing a well staffed, diligently maintained "Powerhouse" of a gym in all categories of the facility. Whenever a piece of equipment is broken, former Powerhouse Exec."Carmine" is quick to remedy the situation. The staff are well spoken, extremely knowledgeable and ever so courteous. I've seen first hand owner Greg Buono lecture and execute perfection from his employees. And further, those staff members have the highest regard for their employer and his practices. As for myself, I'm not the type of person who sits by his computer all day. In fact, I do not participate in the world of Facebook. But, I felt somewhat compelled to write this review to enlighten those who insist on writing negative comments to first do their homework in gym protocol. Powerhouse/Bloomfield puts all members needs high above their competitors. I've seen patrons walk away with weight pins for whatever selfish reason, then I hear comments the gym is lacking proper equipment. There are unforeseen problems that arise in every facility. I ask the member to apprise themselves of all details before being quick to comment negatively. In summation, I give well deserved praise for "Powerhouse/Bloomfield" and their staff.
