Positive reviews don’t apply to Ron, who seems to think yelling and insults are a teaching method. My child comes home crying after almost every session, regardless of how well they’re doing. There’s a reason this business never expanded beyond one location.

I walked in to try a boxing class, and found a second family and a sport I fell in love with.

The people—both the coaches and others taking the classes—create such an incredible, warm, welcoming environment.

The coaches are incredible people and they truly care about you and want to see you succeed. They will always tell you how proud they are of you and how well you’re doing, all while making sure you’re putting in the work necessary to achieve the best version of yourself.

It is their top priority to make sure you never get hurt or are uncomfortable while also encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and give it your all plus more.

Primal Jym is the reason I am more disciplined than I have ever been. Everyday, they inspire me to become a better version of myself than I was yesterday.

This is not just a boxing gym, but a family.

Awesome gym! I can’t believe how much you get for the price. I was paying 2-3x as much elsewhere and didn’t learn as much as I did here in much shorter time. Its crazy! If you are deciding if this is for you, IT IS. Their schedule is packed with different forms of martial arts and fitness classes. There’s everything for everyone. You won’t be disappointed.

I have trained with Jim for a number of years, and I recommend that you give Primal Jym a try. Whether you are just beginning or have been training for a while, you won’t be disappointed. Over the course of his life, Jim has fully immersed himself in various martial arts and has trained with a who’s who of top martial artists including Rickson Gracie, Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer and other luminaries of the martial arts world. His approach follows in the tradition of Bruce Lee, who advised “absorb what is useful, discard what is useless and add what is specifically your own.” Jim is not dogmatic in how certain techniques must be done, but rather helps the members to explore what works best for any one individual. In the art of JKD, as an example, if one insists “this is how Bruce Lee did it”, then Jim might reply: “Bruce Lee had one leg shorter than the other and had an abundance of fast muscle fiber. Does that describe you? If not, then you must seek what works best for you given your physical characteristics.”

In the sweet science of boxing, Coach Ron focuses on the fundamentals of proper footwork and positioning, which maximizes the probability of hitting the opponent while not being hit. He has decades of experience. He trains amateur and professional boxers and has trained Olympic contenders. He is meticulous in his approach to insure that the boxer’s hands, stance and positioning are correct to minimize the probability of getting hit. His class includes both drilling techniques and footwork as well as time to spar. Coach Ron teaches boxing both early in the morning and the evenings, so no matter what one’s schedule is, there is a time slot that’s likely to work.

The Warrior Fit strength and conditioning class is taught by Coach Vicki and Coach Aidan. This class will take your conditioning to the next level. The Warrior Fit class is not for the faint of heart. During the class, the coaches push the members to do their best and not give up. If any member is not able to perform a particular exercise, Coach Vicki offers modifications, with the goal being to keep working and not give up. After a few weeks of taking the class, one will see improved conditioning and strength. For anyone looking to get in shape, lose weight or get in fighting conditioning, I highly recommend the Warrior Fit class.

This is a great gym for martial arts I am 61 and started 2 years ago with no training in the arts. This is a place where everyone is working with you no matter what level you’re at. No matter how old you are it’s never too late to learn a new skill. I highly recommend Primal Gym

I walked in to Primal Gym in September 2018 about a good 30 pounds overweight, someone who was not confident in himself, and someone who so badly wanted to change his life for the better, but couldn't just get out of his own way. As a fan of boxing, I came across Primal Gym through an online search. When I met and toured the facility with Jim, I knew right then and there I had come to the right place! Training at Primal and with Jim has turned out to be ONE of the BEST decisions I have made in my life! Not only have I learned how to box, I have also gained valuable lessons that will stick with me for the rest of my life; including self-discipline, commitment and always embracing the opportunity to learn. About eight months after I first stumbled upon Primal, I am grateful to say I have dropped 40 pounds and feel I am in the best shape of my life! Thank you Jim for taking a chance on me and for always pushing me to strive to be at my best! Your support and guidance are truly appreciated and inspiring! No matter what type of day I may be having outside the gym, I always look forward to training at Primal. I had the privilege of training with Jim McCann in JKD. He's a great instructor that teaches in a simplistic manner. Being extremely knowledgeable about martial arts, he doesn't just show you a technique but also explains why it is effective (or ineffective). I did not have the pleasure of training with the other instructors but they were very friendly in passing. I would recommend this gym for martial arts as well as fitness training as they have a lot to offer.

This is an awesome gym that has expert boxers coaching nightly classes (just take a look at Jim's bio to see for yourself!). Boxing is a great cardio workout, and the sequences are a great way to keep me mentally on my toes in a different, new, and FUN way, too!! I love the diversity in this gym. I'm inspired by young teenagers, men and women who have been working out for decades, and newcomers too! Jayson Sia is an awesome addition to this gym. His personal training is amazing. He truly cares, listens to what his clients want, and is a true coach in every sense of the word! Come check it out!!!

I workout here whenever I can. To be honest, it's super friendly and VERY efficient with both weight loss and skill training. Even if you're not looking to become a professional fighter, this is definitely a gym that provides one of the best physical exercises that I've ever seen/done.
