Walking into the club the Team of people that work there make you feel like a family. Somehow I have only been there a couple times as a member and prior to that I was a guest, but they remember my name, greet me, and even the owner came out to welcome me to his club and help me with my workout when I told him this is one of my first times. It’s also a really beautiful club, I assumed it wouldn’t be a nice club because a membership is so cheap , but it’s nicer than pretty much all gyms I have been a member of. I really enjoy it there!

My boyfriend and I go to this gym because it’s pretty much the only gym around and I have to say this gym is absolutely disgusting every time. The bathroom always has dirty paper towels everywhere and the equipment is always unorganized and dirty. Do the cleaning wipes ever get replenished? Twice this week there was a puddle of water by the door and the kid behind the desk was too busy on his phone to clean it up. The first time, I witnessed another member mention the puddle to him and he just shrugged his shoulders and went back to his phone. I hope no one slipped in it! Retro fitness gyms are closing everywhere and it’s evident as to why. It’s hard to find a gym in this area nonetheless a gym that has convenient hours as retro does so it’s very unfortunate were essentially forced to pay for such poor quality. Next time I’ll be sure to take pictures.

I go every morning at 4am, thats is why i use this gym. Its never open on time and its almost always dirty in the morning. If you get lucky the bathroom might be clean. The gym floor is always cluttered from the night before and never are the weights put away. The equipment is ok nothing new or standout, it gets the job done. I have been going here a long time now and I have to say the only reason I still do; is its convenient. This place should just be a key card gym, because that is the service you get in the morning and at least with a key card gym its open when you get there. The service is better in the late afternoon till later in the day but it gets so packed with people and stupid kids talking on their phones its impossible to get a good workout until after 7pm. If you weight train the times to work out are early in the morning's and late in the nights. But if you want a place that has good service or with people that talk to forget this place. In the last year I might have got a hello or any eye contact once maybe twice and i go there almost everyday Monday thru Friday and Sunday. Its for people that know how to train with no frills equipment and free weights. There is absolutely nothing special or standout about this gym except the women have told me the group classes are great.

Sept. 3 rd. This is the 2nd day in a row that the gym has NO WIPES, NO PAPER TOWELS, and NO DISINFECTANT spray bottles. VERY unsanitary. Absolutely disgusting. Bathrooms are always a mess. One of the worst gyms in the area. New owners need to sell.

I have moved from the area, but continued using a different Retro. When I needed to cancel, I was told i had to go in person to the original gym, which is hours away. I eventually got there and canceled, but in the meantime I was charged the annual fee and they refuse to refund it. Total scam!!!

Some of the younger staff have real bad attitude issues. I'm glad that there are businesses like yours willing to give these people jobs and whatnot, but they don't seem to appreciate the kindness, and reciprocate back.

Today was an amazing experience Anna was very nice to me and everyone at the gym had great energy. The sales rep also was great in telling me about the protein shakes they have in the coolers which are very good. I’ve been a member of this gym since I moved to Lacey and the energy pushed me to elevate during my workout.

Avoid this gym!! My daughter placed her membership on hold (IN PERSON) at the end of August as she's a full time student. Retro Lacey kept billing my credit card. I disputed the charge in November after finally seeing it. Now, they've put her account in collections. This new ownership team is a joke!!!! Lacey Township has other options. I suggest we start using them.

I’ve been a retro fitness membership for over a decade now and have always experienced good customer service, and even worked at the retro in Neptune Township for two years as a personal trainer and front desk employee. I visited this gym and within 10 minutes, was accused by the owner of having disrespected his employees while he’s yelling and cursing at me kicking me out of the gym with no explanation for what I did wrong. It wasn’t until I was so emotionally distraught and through my hands up, trying to de-escalate the situation that he even explained to he was, and that he was the owner of the gym. Not apologizing for any of his miscommunication or false accusations. He claimed that I had disrespected his employees which was completely untrue. The only thing that had happened from the time I had entered to when he started yelling at me was scanning in my past and acknowledging the employee at the front desk with a smile. After I finally get back to the front desk, I asked the employee what the issue was why she felt disrespected, or what I did to upset her. She denies everything and asks if I want to buy a daily pass. this is without doubt the worst behavior I’ve ever seen by any employee at a retro, especially for it to be the owner of the gym himself. I left feeling disrespected and missed treated for no reason so I tried to call back 20 minutes later being the bigger person to explain the situation and they said the owner would call me back later that night when I left my phone number and first and last name with them. They still have to call me back or even apologize for what they’ve done. without a doubt, the worst industry I have ever been to not recommend this gym for anyone unless if you want to leave feeling verbally abused for absolutely no reason. Terrible communication skills, jumping to conclusions with very limited information and mistreating customers in a way that’s never justifiable.

Super bummed about the new layout. And they got rid of good equipment, like the seated row that had the neutral and underhand grip that worked so well. They replace it with another iso row. Everything stacked on one side of the gym and the other side with benches is wide open for no reason. Makes literally no sense at all. And they moved the other cable set so close to the leg extension that if you are using both cables you’re going to be on top of someone else. if they don’t change the layout gunna have to go to another gym which is really disappointing. I actually liked the Lacey retro, now it’s unusable. Also, the new spray and towels are awful, nothing is getting clean just people wiping sweat off with paper towels. Need the wipes back…. And how do you have a gym with not one seated leg curl.

The manager Lisa is very professional. I had issue with my membership and she worked hard to rectify the problem.
All of the staff are friendly and courteous.
Lots of new equipment and the gym is kept extremely clean, very Covid aware with safe distancing and lots of sanitizing wipes and spray everywhere along with a dedicated staffer to clean all the equipment constantly.

I'm 72 years old, and felt strange joining. But instead I have a very positive feeling for your gym. I'm very comfortable there. I attend every Mon Wed and Friday. Going for 3 months now, and my high blood pressure came way down. And I feel great. Your staff makes you feel comfortable.
Only complaint is people sitting on machines and playing with their cell phone. I leave mine in my car.

I went for workout today something light just going back to the gym and it was awesome!! It was so clean, so organized honestly perfect. I was even comfortable taking a shower there because the showers were also clean. And I want to make sure I shout out Tracy she is awesome and honestly made me feel very welcomed!! Very welcoming staff! They all make you feel very comfortable. Being new to this gym, I’m still learning my way around. Any time I have a question they’re all super helpful. I also see the trainer once a month. Madison is so supportive. She’s very attentive and checks in with me on how my week is going with following my work out schedule. I’ve never worked with a trainer bc I’ve always felt uncomfortable. But Madison has been amazing with being so encouraging and motivating. She really helps me stay accountable. I show up and give her work out routine 100%. In a 30 minute routine I feel it and I’m sweating. I feel amazing and accomplished after. I travel out of my way to come to this location bc of how friendly the staff is. I highly recommend this location and Madison especially to anyone who’s never worked with a trainer and feels hesitant. And the smoothies are really good too :)

I’m a new member and I’m really loving this Retro location. The manager Lisa is fantastic, my trainer Vinny is so great. The employees there are just so nice, really make you feel at home and completely eliminate the intimidating feeling one may have when going to an unfamiliar place with no idea what do or use. I’m so glad I joined. I wanted to join sooner, but obviously couldn’t because of the pandemic. The club is very clean, disinfectant wipe stations are everywhere, and people have been diligent about wiping down what they’ve used. I was told that at night the gym is fogged with a disinfectant for even more enhanced cleaning. I’m not overly concerned about it, but some people may be. Overall I’m extremely happy with this location and it’s wonderful employees.

The assistant manager and the associate when I first signed up were great. I walked in and felt welcome from the start. Assistant manager then brought me on a tour of the fitness building, and made it so welcoming. When we got to the point if I wanted to sign up or not she made aware of what would be in the best interest for me instead of pushing me to do something. I literally work no more than 1,000 feet from this retro, at the att store, and I look forward to coming to this location 6 days out of my week. Great staff, which is highly important for guests like me to come back!

For the most part most members are very good at cleaning their equipment after use and re-racking weights. Gym is moderately busy. Usually don't have to wait around for equipment. Staff is constantly walking through cleaning equipment and keeping sanitary wipes available for member.

This is a great facility. I went through a lot of account issues at the West Long Branch facility (review notes in their page). I just joined but so far so good! I got to spend some time with Russell, who was an awesome trainer and taught me a lot in a short time. Whenever I made an exercise look easy, he would make it more of a challenge to make sure I'm getting the most out of it, while at the same time making sure I don't overdo it. Literally terrible. I signed up back in January, and they were having a promo deal where there was no contract, it was month to month payment. That’s the ONLY reason I signed up in the first place... I went in today to cancel it because I no longer have the extra money to pay, and was informed I was in a 14 month contract!!!! I talked to the general manager, and she was extremely unhelpful and told me there’s absolutely nothing she can do because I signed the contract. I understand that, but the fact that no one informed me that the promo would end, or that I’d be stuck in a contract anyways.. I am furious and now have to pay another $130 that I do not have because they couldn’t honor THEIR mistake by not informing me on any of this. I would have never signed up if I knew it was going to be a contract..

I do not recommend this place, they will scam you with a contract even if they’re doing a so called “promo”.

Go to Planet Fitness, they have contracts but it’s much cheaper, you can bring a friend for free AND most importantly, their employees won’t mislead you.
