I am experiencing medical challenges and my doctor advised me to exercise daily for at least between 30 and 45 minutes. Thatβs when I looked around for a local gym. Retro Fitness offered the most affordable price and offered more classes than the other gyms in my area. I signed up on my first visit to Retro Fitness. The staff is very nice, they are willing to help you anytime. I go to the gym almost everyday, and each time I attended I had a good experience. If been a member of at Howell Retro for a few years.staff is always helpful and accommodating as they can be. Today I had another pleasant experience. One of the seat on a piece of equipment always falls down when I sit. Aaron , one of the workers is very good at fixing thing at the gym. I asked him if he could take a look at it. He can over and in about 3 minutes fixed it! A about a month ago the womenβs room toilet broke frequently. Aaron fixed it and no problems since. I wanted to say how much I appreciate him and always pleasant. Thank you Carol Carruth

I recently joined retro because of the vast variety of classes they have available. Unfortunately due to injuries I canβt do a lot of stuff right now and the classes are really helping me keep active. I met a trainer Maria there. She did a health assessment with me to go over my goals and learn about my injuries. We were able to get on the floor and do a bunch of exercises that did not aggravate my injuries. It is very exciting to be able to workout again. Limited sometimes but progress takes time. I would recommend all classes. Every trainer I have met has been knowledgeable and very nice.

Well, everything really. Facilities are fantastic, especially for the price I'm paying. Everything is always in working condition and squeaky clean. Great selection of machines, good amount of racks, benches, and nice tools for functional training. Little bit of everything. *If I could make one request regarding equipment I'd love there to be a rope so I can do proper sled pulls! it's a shame to have a sled without a rope to work with it. Staff is always friendly and helpful, it feels very inviting walking through your doors at Retro Howell. And they make the best smoothies (IT'S A BIG DEAL), compared to all other Retro locations I tried. Keep doing what you're doing, love being your member.

Gym is like a sauna. The air conditioning in this place needs to be addressed. The Jackson retro has been closed for almost 3 years now. Thereβs so many people in this gym and it needs to be kept up with. Canβt even workout for a 20 minutes without dropping sweat.

This is a scummy franchise. The $20 membership is insanely deceptive. It is FAR from $20. Infact, they charged me $122.56. They charge a $50 enrollment fee, a $50 premium consultation fee, and of course finally the $20. Please be careful signing up for any Retro Fitness. For cancellations, you are also required to mail a letter to them saying you want to cancel or you have to show up in person. 20 minutes after signing up and realizing what the fees really entailed, I was told Iβm not eligible for any refunds. Please, be careful.

Great gym and great people. The members are polite, helpful, and motivating. Evan, the GM, is hard working and friendly. Justin basically lives there and goes out of his way to help everyone. Zack, the director of fitness, has tons of experience and encourages clients to be their best. Katie is the greatest human alive. Javier and Jake are tied for second. I recently decided to come back to the gym and start working out. Upon my arrival to the Retro Fitness in Howell, I quickly realized that I was overwhelmed and did not know what I was about to do.
The entire team made the process very seamless for me. Signing up with Katie at the front desk was super warm and welcoming and friendly. Getting my evaluation with Zach was very informative and pairing me with Evan, my trainer, has been an outstanding experience so far!
They really made this 58 year old guy who is way out of shape feel very comfortable And at home.

About a year ago I was working out and had some trouble with my lower back. My legs went into shock and I couldnβt move. The retro staff helped me up and carried me all the way to my car to make sure I was okay. A month or two later I signed up to train with Justin. Retro Howell is a pretty cool place to work out in. A lot has changed since management and staff changed but that is to be expected when other gyms close and there is an influx of new members. I feel that the Howell Retro staff do their best to accommodate every gym member despite their other responsibilities (training, management, etc). This gym just got a bunch of new equipment and also provides wipes to sanitize the machines and equipment before and after working out. As an adult who attends this gym, I donβt see why others find it an issue that the staff require members to clean up after themselvesβ¦ I mean we are adults lol. I feel like the staff are really nice and always make my gym experience fun. Going to the gym is supposed to be fun so I donβt see where any negativity would come from regarding this gym. If the gym is too crowded, donβt workout during peak hours. If you use weights, re rack them. If you sweat all over a machine, wipe it up. Go to the gym, workout and leave. Itβs pretty simple! I feel like if everyone practiced patience and consideration theyβd have better experiences at the gym. Overall, I feel like everyone is doing their best despite these crazy times and Retro Howell is a great place to workout in.

gym was perfect before the neighboring town Jackson retro closed over, howell got 1,000 new members in a tiny packed gym, the new members are awful aswell they are all SARMS goblins and take well over 20-30 minutes on each equipment they're on because they take their shirt off after each set and pose infront of the mirror. the old Howell workers were perfect, so nice and very talkative to the members now the new Jackson workers that transferred here are the rudest people ever who do nothing but sit in their little safe space and talk to each other and sit on there phone, every time i walk in i get a nasty look like i did something to them or like they are not being paid to be there. the only time i ever see them leave the front desk is to grab paper towels from the back, i have never once seen them actually clean the facility as it has a disguising stench in it that slaps you in the face the second you walk in they probably dont even notice it cause they're nose blind and simply just don't care. Justin Marissa and Gabriella are the only workers i ever see do anything remotely productive and i hope they get paid more than the rest of the bottom feeders. terrible management and an awful place to be at the moment. 10/10 would not recommend this place to anybody considering joining here

Absolutely horrible management. Argued about canceling a member for my daughter that I was paying for over 1 yr. I went in person to cancel, and so did my husband and daughter. When daughter was able to come in, she was told she had to come back when a manager was present. She explained she could not due to fluctuations in school/ work schedules. This business makes it almost impossible for you to cancel your membership, and then makes every excuse for not canceling (change in mngt, no records). I will NEVER do business with these shady folks ever again. All about their profit - no care about you or your hardships/ concerns. Defers blame to you and accepts no responsibility for lack of retaining proper records. Consider another gym and save yourself the headache with this inconsiderate facility and management. Read the negative reviews about payment / cancellation issues...

While the workers are friendly and thereβs enough equipment to make the experience satisfactory, you can get plenty more at Planet Fitness. However with the companyβs overall professionalism, I give the entirety of this company one star. I signed a one year contract but somehow got scammed into two. I politely tried to cancel my membership but I kept getting directed to robots and people outside of the country. Now I have a debt collector trying to rip even more money out of my bank account. Please consider anywhere else as a gym than this place. Worst experience of my life.

Iβve been a member in & off at this gym for many years including spending lots of money in the past with personal trainers. I never had a problem with any of the staff before. Everyone including management was great! I recently rejoined the gym and paid in full for 6 months of personal training. Unfortunately, due to the advice of my Drβs I was told not to go to the gym because of the spike in the Delta variant. I spoke with the manager Matt and Iβve never seen someone so rude as well as unprofessional in customer service before . Iβve been getting the run around and was told I would be getting a response as to getting half of my money paid back for sessions Iβll never use. No one has called and Iβm getting the runaround . This gym is not kept clean as when I was going I see no staff cleaning after people get off machines . Theyβre leaving it up to the members! I was told by the manager Matt that if I didnβt pay in full and only paid month to month then it wouldnβt be a problem getting that month back but since I paid in full I canβt get a refund. That makes no sense to me! He also told me βI shouldnβt have committed if I couldnβt commitβ! How rude!!!! I have a severely disabled daughter at home and I canβt risk any exposure from me attending a gym where itβs not kept up with sanitary measures as Iβve seen. Hopefully, this post will make other people interested in training be aware.

Retro Howell has the best trainers! I have been working with Jess. She takes the time to identify my needs and creates a program to help me. As a cancer survivor, that attention has made all the difference in my recovery from the treatment and it's side effects. I consider myself fortunate to have her work with me.

The gym is clean and up to date. Justin the personal trainer is awesome! Very knowledgeable and helps push/motivate you to hit your goals. Brittany at the front desk is very polite and welcomes you with a smile. Shakes are delicious and well priced compared to other Retros I have been to.

Retro Fitness in Howell is one of the best facilities in the business. The Fitness Director, Justin, is professional and compassionate. He listens, motivates and challenges you in fun and creative ways! The staff is also encouraging and engaging. The staff smile and great every member as they enter and wish them a good day as they leave. Even Jim takes his job maintaining the facility with pride and engages with members. Overall, this is one of the best fitness facilities in New Jersey. Highly recommended!!!

I had a really pleasant time at retro fitness in Howell I didnβt quite have an idea about what to do in the gym but one of the workers there named Justin really helped me out and even gave me a workout to do and made sure I was doing it correctly!! Highly recommend this gym to everyone itβs very clean and good environment for everyone!

Review:Britney, Mario, Giorgia, Cassie, Jessica, & Justin are wonderful employees. Britney always waves & says hello to all members & makes yummy smoothies. Justin supports everyone with detailed information about individual workout plans. Mario always provides great service with a smile & helps when needed with all questions asked. He has a lot of knowledge about different things pertaining to training & the membership itself. He deserves a higher position with recognition due to his work availability & passion in the health field. I recommend Retro Fitness to people all the time. Thanks for the help from all of the generous employees. The Retro staff from Howell, NJ makes my exercising experience complete.
Note:I'm down to 183 lbs from 205lbs in 3 months. Amazing results! I can now begin on getting my abs back again. All the machines & equipment work properly. Thank you!~
Recommendation:Some sort of air freshener spray in the bathroom free of use for everyone so you can spray it inside your shoes to eliminate any bad odor before you leave or as you workout so you're fresh & ready next time you come back in or vice versa. It wouldn't cost much to keep a couple shower towels with a scent section providing a few products for members when needed if they forgot to bring their own stuff which happens time to time with everyone.

Under new ownership changed TV channels with few choices, no local channels or other news sources other than Fox News and Fox 5. So much for customer service on member appreciation day. How about offering choices for all customers
Update: 5/8 thanks for adding a few more channels. You have done a nice job cleaning the place up and adding a few more pieces of equipment.

Short and sweet, very good equipment, not pleasant staff.
They recently added some new rogue bars and have some other nice machines which are sweet, but it dosnt make up for the inumerable bad experiences I've had with the staff. Mostly nasty and treat you like a dollar sign instead of a member of a community. Go to the freehold retro instead. Super nice people to talk to, nice clean gym, and they let you use chalk.

Spaced out which is nice but it still feels like a small crowded gym. No separate room for classes/a place to go do your own thing which is annoying. Staff is awesome, gym equipment is outdated and old.
