It’s spotless, people are friendly, and classes are fun! I really enjoy going and using the pools and sauna as well. Only downside is that I don’t know if the mats are sanitized between classes, so I bring my own.

The facility is clean, their fitness equipment is modern and in excellent condition. The Aquatic Center is upscale with beautiful tile everywhere. There is a café near the entrance with healthy, protein rich foods, salads, bowls & wraps as well as healthy smoothies and juices.

Absolutely obsessed with this place. I am a working mom, so being able to drop off my toddler at a trustworthy place with amazing “teachers” is a game changer for me. Miss Nicole, Miss Kylie, Miss Chanel, Miss Cheyenne… They are just a few of the amazing women that have positively impacted my daughter‘s life. I know that it is just daycare, but having the time to work out and also work on my computer in their library has revolutionized my days as a parent. I love this place and I have been telling all of my friends about it. You really should check this out!

EAT HERE! GREEN CORNER CAFE
Four of us dropped by for a quick bite and we were pleasantly surprised at the great food quality of this restaurant nook. Salads were generous and awsome and the pizza was the best we've had since our vacation in Sicily. It's really worth the trip or skipping a meal at home for this.

Facility is top-notch, always clean, and well-maintained. The variety of equipment they have is fantastic, there's something for everyone, whether you're into cardio, weight training, or group classes. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help, creating a welcoming and motivating environment.
What really stood out to me is how spacious the gym is. Even during peak hours, I never felt cramped or had to wait too long for equipment. Highly recommend!

Been a member here for probably 5 or 6 years. It was a transition coming from the old Bally's nearby as any transition is because they have some and don't have some of the same machines. But, RWJ has pretty much everything you need. I come 6 or 7 am in the mornings and I can come probably count on my hand the times I've waited on a machine. I haven't done the classes but I used the open swimming. I've also used the PT here and the staff was knowledgeable. Parking is super ample. They've had flooding issues in the past but it looks like they're putting in the appropriate drainage now so that is probably not a concern anymore. If you're thinking about this place, chances are you're also considering the LA Fitness or Retro fitness nearby. This place is probably going to be a little bit more, but you're getting a clean atmosphere and a respectful and quiet clientele, so you can just do what you need to do quickly and get out.

My review is exclusive to the Child Care. So far, I am very satisfied with this complementary service. The staff overall, but specially Paige, has been very welcoming, and attentive to the needs of my child. My daughter is just 13 months and Paige is making such an effort to help her adapt. I see the entire staff through the cameras while doing my cardio (great feature btw), and you can clearly see that they truly care. I come from a youth development career background so I know what it takes to work and care for kids. This club does a very good job in all of the offered amenities. Good Job RWJ!

Still rude unprofessional Front Desk David - ? They literally hire anyone. It's no surprise membership declined.

Then it's pulling teeth to try to cancel your membership.

I made use of the gym floor and pool during my visit on a Saturday morning. The floor is two levels and was clean and organized. Didn’t find it to be crowded either. The pool was more spacious compared to other Fitness & Wellness clubs. I would suggest calling the desk beforehand if you intend to just come and use the pool. At times it may be closed due to swim meets.

This is a clean, nice facility with great trainers and staff.
I have been taking Pilates reformer classes with Sandy for over two years now and training under her has been the best decision for my fitness journey. She is an incredible instructor, who modifies exercises to fit my needs, makes working out fun and challenging. Her supportive and encouraging attitude has made my fitness improve far beyond my expectations. I'm stronger, more flexible and happier.
If you are looking for a Pilates reformer instructor with great integrity who is as invested as you are in your fitness growth, I highly recommend Sandy! You won't be disappointed!!!

Once you've signed the contract and they have your money, don't expect to hear from them again. They do not follow through on any of the promises they sell you when you first visit- no orientation, instruction, or personal assessment as offered. The bathroom and locker room floors are always soaking wet, and children are usually in the locker rooms where adults are completely undressed.

This gym is well kept and clean and clientele are respectful.Plenty of equipment. Well maintained locker room. I wish they offered more (any!!!) early morning classes like yoga, pilates, barre and/or combinations of these beyond just bootcamp type offering at 5:30 am for those who work and would love to start the day off with an actual (calm, centering, restorative, inspiring yet still toning/strengthening) class. In general. I wish they catered to working customers with more variety at both 5:30 and early evening. It would be great if they offered mobility classes and more yoga/pilates:barre sculpting classes. I also wish they had a larger “stretching” area because it’s so limited and lots of people like to free weight train and stretch beyond that limited space.

If you like going to the gym early in the morning or later in the day then this location is definitely not for you; they claim they have reduced their hours due to the pandemic, lol yea still using that excuse…they have no issues raising their price though… Quality of the saunas and steam rooms have only gone down. They also used to have a much better cleaning procedure. Been holding out for things to change but doesn’t look great.

Quality is going downhill quickly. Hours are getting shorter and shorter, information is not properly updated or communicated to their members, and their amenities have gotten worse just over the last year. Price increases yet quality decreases, not great.

This used to be a great health club but starting about 2 years ago everything is going downhill. They keep rising prices every year, it's almost impossible to get an appointment to see the nurse, they are closing earlier and earlier. There is not a single group fitness class between 6am and 9am, and only zumba/joga & occasionally bodupump between 5:30pm and 9pm during the work week meaning if you work typical business hours you have no or very limited options. On the top of that, it appears they changed maintenance/cleaning company over the last year or so, since then I have not seen a single person cleaning the machines and machines are just nasty. (in the past, there was someone always in the center constantly cleaning and wiping equipment). I've been a member for close to 10 years but with the decline of service, and the price being double of the next comparable gym in the area, I just could no longer justify and had to cancel.

On Feb 17 2022 I noticed I was being automatically charged since when they opened the gym back up after covid (I never returned to this gym, did not give them permission to re-open my account, and moved out of state). I called and was directed to contact Robert OConnell, the GM. He wasn't available to speak so I sent him an email. He said he would get back to me in a week. 8 weeks and 6 email follow-ups later, I have not heard from Robert. I guess I will have to file a formal request through local business division. I do not recommend this gym.

When I first joined I gave it 5 Stars but after further review only days, I give it 0 Stars. if your 70 / 80 years old this is your place, if your SERIOUS about working out, go somewhere else. The very worst Place To Work Out In of Any fitness Business I've Ever been In, And I've Been In A lot... People don't come here to work out, but to socialize and talk on the phone, And about 75% have No Gym Etiquettes. I Also was never more poorly treated by management and Staff as well.
A So called woman trainer Susan yelled at me for working out to hard. It's very obvious she knows nothing about fitness and even less about Working Out hard!! and management did nothing about it. If considering joining, make sure you take a Three day pass first and See. For yourself. As so many people have stated it used to be good And have since Gone elsewhere, And if this place doesn't want the serious fitness, hardcore Person, which Is been known on the street for years don't sign them up, and then blame us for the lack of Gym members edicates, which they have absolutely None

I have been a member of this facility almost from the beginning. I've actually considered terminating my membership on several occasions but stuck with the gym because, as a Senio I found the facility had programs that seemed to be relevant to my needs. I have often however, encountered communication issues with the counselors around concerns. During the pandemic, I was never able to sign up for classes. I always received a " not eligible," response to every attempt I made to register, even for the virtual sessions. I receive the same notice even now when I try to register (finding a course viamovofit always worked for me, but adhering to the requirements during the pandemic never worked). I've called to speak to a "counselor", left my phone number but to no avail. No one has called. I'm at a loss for what to do.

I was a member of Retro Fitness for almost 10 years and assumed that’s how all gyms were; bros being bros, cardio bunnies galore, cliques and the “normies” like me… and it was enough to make me think I was doing the best for myself in terms of fitness. There were a few glimpses in time where I’d try other gyms in the area for a few months, but it was the same vibes no matter where I went and eventually cancel my membership and continue my RF membership.
Enter RWJ fitness. I finally had the courage to say to myself, “Yes the price IS worth it.” And by making that investment, I’ve truly found a gym that feels like home. I’ve been a member for almost 6 months now and I’m in the best shape of my life. I don’t feel intimidated going there and trying new things. The staff is always so friendly. It’s clean and everyone is respectful. RWJ makes me EXCITED to work out; it no longer feels like a chore. I am so happy to have finally found a gym that makes me feel good, to finally feel STRONG, and to look forward to each day.

Update: the GM did call and let me know they would be refunding me and further training the employee I interacted with.
Very saddened by the experience I had when trying to be refunded for charges for the gym usage that I had no idea were being charged. This was unequivocally the most stressful experience with this gym in the last decade that I was a member. When I feel safe using a gym again, I will be certain to avoid this facility. Their apparent goal is to challenge and question your integrity.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Mr. Marty Reidy via telephone and then in person regarding my interest in a membership at RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center located in Scotch Plains, New Jersey. He is very friendly and easy to speak with. He patiently answered all of my questions and invited me to come to the facility to take a complete tour. I met trainers and other medical personnel that are staffed around the clock. This center is huge and has something for everyone! I also met the very friendly Hollie R. and John Shell who are part of the front desk reception area staff. The building is clean, safe and well monitored. Thank you Mr. Reidy for signing me up for membership. You are the consummate professional and I appreciate the hard work that you do daily to ensure that all of your members are satisfied! Management here is the absolute worst. Don't waste your money.
I have been a member here for years, had a personal trainer for a while (who was awesome) and I kept my membership because it's close to my house and does what I need.
ALTHOUGH, this negative review is solely based on management as they are the reason I am canceling. My credit card was stolen back in January, and once I received my new card I went in immediately to update my account. The girl at the desk was having some issues updating it but in the end told me I'm good to go, it's all updated. WRONG. She didn't update my account, and now I am being told I owe $200+ and fees for declined payments. NOT MY FAULT. Management has not responded to my multiple calls and voicemail's, I send emails- nothing. They are rude and have zero customer service capabilities. I called this morning to be told "member services is really busy, I have to take a message." That was the last straw, I'm done. There are way better and cheaper options around with staff that care about their customers. I'll take my business elsewhere.

This is my ideal gym. The facilities are excellent. Beyond clean is a must for me in a semi-public facility. You can count on cleanliness here. The gym and aquatic areas are never too crowded for a comfortable and relaxing workout. Salt-water pools and jacuzzi are wonderful, cuts the chlorine smells. Wonderful staff, usually on the ball. We are all human and sometimes we have to be patient with others, right? I wish the yoga studio was better located. It's hard to fuse mind and body with a hip hop dance class from the next studio booming in you heard during downward facing dog.

Without regret, i am forced to reduce the rating on this gym due to mgmt. I have been a member for several years and chose to cancel a week ago. As a thank you, i am forced to pay for an additional month despite giving 3 weeks notice. I was also forced to come in and fill out paper work to cancel. (Other gyms allow this to take place online or the phone). Then, as if i havent lost enough of my time, im am forced to sit there and be questioned by the General Manager in a condescending manner. I was asked why i was leaving. I explained i am using my company's gym. She felt the need to tell me about what other people usually don't do. People also usually don't come to any gym. She didnt even want to know what they could do better or if there was anything that could make me stay. This type of conversation would have been much more acceptable and professional, especially since I'm forced to have a sit down. I don't need you to act like you care about my well being, but don't waiste my time and money. This was not a cheap investment. The 300+ sign on fee with their joke of a fitness exam, should have been sufficient enough to earn a respectful dismissal. I did enjoy my experience with Alecia, training with Rimoun, and spin class with Tom (despite their lack of proper cooling, another miss thanks to mgmt ). They really messed up with this. If I did decide to return to another gym, it wouldn't be here.

The worst trainers in the world! I've never seen a senior woman load 800 lbs on a leg press before I came to this place. The problem She can't press it more three inches down instead of the full two foot drop. Yes Dennis! I'm talking about you.
The rest of the trainers are 25% body fat or worse. Why would an moron pay for trainers that are fat? College degrees and online certifications will never trump experience and hard work. PERIOD!
I pay $70 dollars a month for a gym that won't clean up the weights and handle certain individuals that destroy the gym.
I have brought 10 people to that gym on referral and will taking them all with me when I leave. The management is incompetent as one of my referrals took over an hour to get into the gym on a guest pass. They wonder why they are going belly up in the near future. I'll be buying this place out when it inevitably collapses like the Soviet Union.
I'm going to LA fitness around the corner where 80% of their clientele around flocked to. The equipment is better and more plentifully LA.

I love the gym, they are reasonably priced when you figure in all the classes, and included meetings with trainers every 6 weeks and on staff nurses quarterly. They also offer an extensive Kids fitness program for a great price (also open to non-members) My daughter loves the classes. My only complaint is that they charge for everything else. Pilates Reformer, Small Group Classes, etc. There are some things I'd love to do, but the cost of the extras on top of the gym membership is prohibitive.
