The Bar Method Bernardsville is a boutique fitness studio offering barre classes for students of all levels. The signature method uses your own body weight, the ballet barre and a few props to create a transformative workout that results in long, lean sculpted muscles. Not only does it reshape your entire body, but it allows you to channel your inner strength and leave class feeling strong, confident and poised. Highly-trained instructors customize the exercises to ensure they are safe and effective for any age and every body, including modifications for pregnant women and students with injuries. Our staff and community are here to support you from the moment you walk through the door.

I’ve been taking classes at The Bar Method in Bernardsville for a few months now, and I can’t say enough good things about this studio! This studio is welcoming and all the instructors are super nice. They have a nice verity of classes to choose from, if your a beginner or an advanced ballierina, you'll definitely find your challenge.

They're very understanding and professional when it comes to modifying your membership. They have exceptional customer care and will work with you on any of your concerns, just ask Melissa or Gina (the owners).

If you're looking for a barre studio that will challenge your body and tone your muscles but wont strain/tear your joints, Bar Method is your studio! I absolutely love their Bar Strength Express class - be ready to feel the burn!

The energy is amazing each and every time .. I love it there !! I came 3 years ago .. wanting to tone my body after having my kids… but never was successful and very unhappy … and i went to the gym religiously… but once i started at bar… my body complete changed.. The bar method is amazing. Besides the meticulously clean environment and wonderful owners and teachers , it’s an amazing full body workout.

As someone’s who can have my anxiety get the best of me ... i find that this mentally challenging workout has become a way to keep the anxiousness at bay and become a way to clear my mind... all while engaging my muscles in every way possible!

I love this studio! Every single teacher is great! They are motivating, kind and extremely knowledgeable. They push you to keep working when you think you can not. I have been a bar method client since their doors first opened in Bernardsville. It is my time to focus on just ME! I am a stay at home Mom with 4 very busy kids, which makes me busier. The hour I spend in the studio I leave everything at the door. I focus on my body and my mind. I leave each and every class feeling refreshed mentally and exhausted physically. Let's be honest - I HATE EXERCISE. But, I love the Bar Method - I finally found an exercise that i enjoy, is fun and produces results (not as fast as I'd like - but I struggle with impatience in many areas of my life :) ) The classes are challenging and demanding but I never feel defeated. I love that each class is a bit different so the it keeps my body guessing and never gets boring. I also appreciate the support and encouragement of the staff. I have yet to take a class I didn’t love. The teachers are ALL amazing and what I really like is that you get personalized instruction built into high-energy group classes. It took only a few weeks for me to start seeing results, and I notice Bar is a great stabilizing form of exercise which is helping me heal from hip surgery.

I've been going to Bar Method for two weeks now, and I'm happy to say that I'm getting stronger and am beginning to see changes in my body. Prepare to get your butt kicked... this is no whimpy workout. What's great that, whatever your strength and fitness level, most moves and exercises are easy to modify for rank beginners to those needing more of a challenge. My only comment about the quality of instruction (which is excellent), is that sometimes, teachers forget to mention what muscle, or where we should be feeling a particular move. Some of the postures are tricky, so it would be helpful to always know where I'm targeting, to get myself positioned correctly.

The facility is lovely and clean, with spacious locker areas, nice showers, etc. Not specific to Bar Method, but generally, I don't care for carpeting in my workout space. Bar Method studios are carpeted. The main studio used most often has a definite foul odor to it. I don't know how often the carpets are cleaned and sanitized, but I do know it's harder to keep clean than a wood or synthetic floor. Additionally, the mats used have a fabric cover. Do these ever get washed? At other barre studios, mats are rubber or neoprene and get a spritz of cleaner-sanitizer after each use. At Bar Method, mats and pads are used over and over again, with no indication of being washed.

Generally favorable review. Undecided whether or not to continue on, after my intro month.

With the help of motivating and encouraging owners and instructors, I feel strong, lean and toned. I’m very happy with the result! The bar method has helped me gain strength and flexibility all over. It did not happen "overnight" for me, but if you are consistent you eventually realize your leg is lifting a little higher, you are bending a little lower, and digging a little deeper. I love the number of classes offered daily and ALL instructors are great. You leave the bar method feeling accomplished and refreshed. It is an upscale, classy, and refined experience; you don't feel like you just "hit the gym." The ladies are always in good moods and everyone is supportive. Bar method really changed my outlook on working out. I tried this place on a whim after walking by it. I immediately loved it and signed up for a package. I have been going now for a year and try to go as much as possible. I have seen so much progress physically and mentally. My body looks and feels stronger! Why I love this place:

- I started to see results after just 3 weeks of daily workouts in the Bernardsville Bar Method Studio! My legs, back and arms looked more toned and I've lost inches (you could really see it when wearing your old pair of jeans).
At the end of the 4th week my colleagues started to ask me about my diet and workout routine since I slim down a lot ;)

- The Bar Method Technique gives your muscles definition and strength without bulking them up - creating a lean dancer's body and improves your flexibility.

What makes this studio to standout from others - is not only the effective Bar Method Technique but the team of great trainers:

- You are provided with detailed exercise instructions and demonstration before each exercise.

- Trainer looking around the room to make sure exercises are done in the proper form to achieve maximum results. in case you are doing it wrong you'll receive a verbal correction or the trainer will come directly to you and will correct your form.

- You can feel that they love what they do and really care about your results.

- You'll never feel on your own like in the other group classes where trainer(s) just show you what to do and then don't care whether you can keep up with the class or not, or whether you are doing it totally wrong and may injure yourself.

Recommendations:
- To see the best results try to work out 5-7 times per week. It sounds a lot but by the end of the hour you'll want to come back ;)
- If you've been doing fitness exercises regularly or are in the good shape I would recommend to skip the 'Bar Method Basics' class and start from the 'Mixed level'.
Otherwise you may be under wrong impression that it is too easy and you won't see results. You will! Trust me, you just need to go to the level that is challenging enough for you.

This is more than the best workout program in the world; it is a club run by owners and instructors who really care about us. They are nurturing and encouraging of each person during the classes and willingly stay after to give individual attention. I have been working with the fabulous staff at Bar Method Bernardsville for five years, since it opened. A friend gave me a class for a birthday present, and I've been hooked ever since.
I was looking to get "out of the gym" and Bar gave me the opportunity to get an really great work-out without the monotony of a weight room or an elliptical machine.
The teachers are true pro's. The moves provide excellent muscle strength and toning, and by challenging myself, my heart rate pops right up!
This method provides a slow burning of body fat throughout my day, and has proven to be the only workout to date that has truly changed my metabolism.
