Today was my second visit with my kids to this location. Our first experience was great, but I couldn’t leave today without shouting out our assigned belay, Bailey. My 5 year old twin boys take time to come out of their shells and get comfortable around new people. He made this experience so awesome for them. He figured out they like a little friendly competition and had them climbing in no time. He spoke to them on their level, was respectful, and had them challenging themselves to keep climbing higher. 10/10. Thank you Gravity Vault and Bailey!

Had a horrible experience here. My whole grade went here for a trip, and I hated it. This is literally only because of one of the employees. No clue what his name was but he would force people to climb higher than they wanted to, including me. Horrible experience, don’t go here.

Had a great time watching my kid climb here and he had a blast! Really tempted to sign up for a membership. Currently weighing the shorter term option instead of the 12 month just so we can give it a shot and not feel bad if we decide this isn’t for us in the longer term.

This place is not bad. It's nowhere near the best gym I've been to (Vital in Williamsburg, Brooklyn!). I go mainly because of proximity. I have one major complaint in particular: the floor in the bouldering area. The floor itself is just foam pads that are literally connected with tape, and the tape is failing in the high-trafficked areas. This foam is not intended for falling on, though. This is the only climbing gym I've ever been to (and I've been to many) that uses *crash mats* instead of having the entire floor be fall-safe. If that were the extent of the problem, I'd say ok fine, four stars. But the mats are in terrible condition. Some of them are so beaten up that they're barely better than just falling on the foam floor surface. And it's been that way for the two or so years I've been climbing here. The lack of attention to this problem is a bit galling to me. Otherwise: There's some good route setting, and the staff is quite friendly! I've heard some folks complain about the infrequency with which the problems are changed out, but it's not a huge deal to me, given that I can always try harder stuff. The number one thing this gym could do to improve, in my opinion, is to fix the problem I highlighted above.

We visit this gym once every 6 weeks or so while we are in town. The routes are always thoughtful and well set. Community is friendly. The boulders are STOUT but still fun. However, I really wish they'd invest in safety and replace the pads in the gym. They are the old style where you have to move them around (rather than installed into the floor) and ancient so they are not supportive at all. There are often gaps and uneven surfaces. I fell on a slab climb last month and the pads are so old it compressed down to like an inch and tweaked my knee. The pads definitely are not safe and should be replaced.

Annual member here and have visited six different Gravity Vault (GV) locations. This location has a very nice staff and decent variety in walls - I love the two archway/chimneys in the top rope section. They also have a slackline always set up which is nice. While this one is the closest GV to me, I prefer other locations. Bouldering section needs wall to wall pads - this is the only GV location I've been to that still uses crash pads. Given some of the angles of walls and the amount of people bouldering, it's often hard to keep the crash pad in the correct spot and any traversal problem leads to gaps in pads = higher chance of getting hurt. My only other gripe is the AC system. In the summer there are sections of top rope area that get really hot two thirds of the way up. The returns for the AC system are too low to pull in the hot air at the top. Also on hot days the bouldering area can get pretty stagnant. They do have portable fans you can move around, but most gyms utilize large industrial size ceiling fans to move a lot of air. If these problems were addressed, I would definitely come here more often. But until then, I'll continue to use the Flemington location as my number one gym, and the Brick location as number two.

This place is popular on weekends. Very friendly and attentive staff. Lots of choices available. Easiest rated routes are 5.6, and there are some interesting features all through the spacious gym.
Lots of options if you just want to boulder a bit, too.
Every time we come here we have a great time. Definitely a go to on rainy day weekends.

Just wanted to let everyone know that garden state rocking climbing, is cheaper than this place. They are cheaper from $8 less to a $100 less depending on what you do. Garden State has a $20 day pass and the gravity vault is $28, they also charge $333 for a 10 day punch pass w/equipment. Garden state charges $235.....

I in no way shape or form work for Garden State. I was looking to start rock climbing and I just could not believe the difference in price, so I had to spread the word. Not everyone is a millionaire and we all need a little help sometimes 😊.

Route variety on auto belays was pretty good for someone like me (5.9-5.11). More skilled climbers might need to bring a belayer. Pretty nice route setting, some routes were different from what I used to in Chatham GV. The gym is also a bit bigger. I've visited the gym SAT afternoon and it looked a little abandoned. Some ropes had only 1 route, some surfaces didn't have routes at all. Bouldering section looked good. Water dispenser didn't work.
I think this gym deserves more attention especially in summer as you could train and then go to the beach :)

I really love the Friday 5pm discount. The routes look good. Nice features. It is also good for kid’s birthday parties. It has a gym with some cardio machines and free weights on too of the boulder in the back. They decorated for halloween too. Its a good vibe here. Very high ceilings. There is climbing here for beginners to experts. Great place to get fit.

As a climber of 5 years and having been to every gravity vault in NJ, this gym is by far the worst one to climb at. Before and even after the pandemic renovations, the air conditioning does not cool the gym. When the gym reopened today for the first time in months, it was 82 degrees and there was absolutely no friction. After receiving hundreds of complaints about the temperature from all sorts of customers, the management does not fix the problem. I climb inside to get away from the heat outdoors, however this gym does not fulfill that request.

I’ve been to several rock gyms and so far this is the gym I measure all others against and is my favorite. The staff is kind, patient, supportive and fun. I took the belay class and it was great. My little one is taking a kids climbing class and she is having a blast. The instructors not only make sure the kids learn techniques but keep them moving and engaged. This gym is nice and spacious and the atmosphere there is really laid back and pleasant. I love going here for some zen time after a tuff week. By far my favorite place to climb.

If you like your gyms old, smelly, and with only two route setters who don’t seem to climb outside, this is the place for you. I’ve climbed at a few dozen gyms and I would rate this in the top three worst.

Day passes are pretty steep ($21 each) for a place where the routes are not fun or creative and staff don’t know how to work the moonboard or answer questions. Giving more than one star because of said moonboard and because there’s WiFi. No regular workout facilities or showers. Lots of children screaming and disrespecting employees. Glad this is not our local.

Extremely well maintained, very clean, new routes are always being set so the place never gets boring, grades from 5.8 to 5.13 on top rope / lead, V0 to V8 on bouldering, and a great set of kids’ walls and games if you have a kid to do a birthday party for. I don’t have kids but the birthday parties always seem great. I’ve been going for years, in that time they’ve been doing yoga once or twice a week most of the time (which is free when you’ve bought a day pass or have a membership), they’ve had a handful of gear demos a year, and they have very regular belay classes, lead classes, and technique classes. The staff are all always very friendly and helpful. They also have a slack line they set up every Thursday. It’s my favorite climbing gym in the area. Others have other strengths but this one is by far the most well rounded and well maintained within an hour drive radius.

A cool spot. We go here a lot. There a specials on certain days e.g. Monday is BOGO. The staff is helpful for newbies and veteran climbers. There's Boulder and Top rope walls. Gear for sale and rent. Really good crash pad syst. Also auto Bälle syst. if you're climbing dolo. Lots of wall posters to reference the color coded difficulty scheme. There is also music in the background, WiFi, plenty seating and accoutrement storage in a lounge area in the ONE warehouse style space. The cooling syst. works good, bathroom and water fountain at no charge.. lol.

Great place for indoor rock climbing. If your new they got staff to belay you and give you some pointers. If your experienced just get certified by one of the employees and climb all you want with out being bothered. They also have auto belay system that eliminates the need for a human belayer.
