The Balanced Living Center is where education, creativity and passion collide. Our space is occupied by two types of individuals: those who wish to educate fellow practitioners (whether it be a physical, mental or spiritual practice) and the student; the lifelong learner. From yoga and mindfulness classes to healthy living workshops, the Balanced Living Center has no limits to its offerings.

By the end of last summer, I felt like I was in a rut. The school year + summer school had been extremely challenging and busy. I needed something to get my brain back on track before meeting new students in the Fall, and I was also looking for something to make my body feel healthier, stronger. A friend of mine told me she had been doing yoga, and that I should try it. I was a little hesitant, since I knew NOTHING about yoga poses, and I definitely do not love change. But, I went to the class anyway. I sure wasn't graceful, or breathing right, or doing the poses correctly, or being mindful, but I felt great afterwards. I can't really explain the feeling, but I knew I wanted to try the class again. The more I went, the less I worried about being accurate and graceful. And Erica, ever so subtly, would tweak my pose when needed, without embarrassment. Several months later, I feel my body getting stronger, and my life "slowing down". And every message Erica shares, seems to be speaking right to MY heart. I'm so happy with my experience at Balance, I'd recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat! <3

When I made the decision to take Balance Fitness's 200 hr. yoga teacher training with Erica Denman, my goal was two-fold: to develop a more committed relationship to my 10+ year (on and off again) LOVE affair with yoga, AND to be able to teach a super-solid vinyasa class. Diving into the current of the teacher training and immersing myself in the Balance community, has carried me to places I had never dreamed of!

Don't get me wrong---I still have the goal of teaching a super-solid vinyasa class, but what I DREAM about now---is combining my background in nursing with BRINGING yoga, meditation and Reiki TO those with cancer/chronic illness! (Which is TOTALLY happening WAY faster than I could have dreamed of)...Why you might ask?!? Because, "When you want something all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it," according to Paulo Coelho. Because of Erica Denman, I see teaching yoga as an extension of my being---to heal, to be of service to others! Ahhhhhhhh-what a GIFT!

Might I be so bold as to say, that it is SO much more than the actual teacher training that has brought me to my "Personal Legend." It is Erica's confidence and ability to see the "highest version" of me possible, her voice that said "You got this!!!!" (when my inner self-critic was being a 'Debbie Downer'), OR a "You are getting stronger", that propelled my lazy low lunge into an expansive crescent lunge.

To say that Erica/Balance teaches to people, NOT poses is an understatement!!! Balance TRULY teaches to all levels in a way that makes yoga accessible to everyone of all ages, shapes, sizes and abilities! Erica's intuitive ability to "message"---to speak to the individual SOUL through the lens of her own vulnerability is what keeps me coming back time and time again (AND is responsible for a couple of unbeknownst 'cries' on my mat, largely in part due to her awesome song choices). At Balance, you immediately learn the importance of applying yoga to how you live your life---both on and off the mat!!!

Yoga (and ALL of it 8 limbs), makes me want to be a better person! The amazing thing about Balance--
is that it offers sooooooooo much more than some of the BEST yoga instruction that the area has to offer! Balance offers compassion, connection, and community...Proud to call it my home, but even more PROUD of Erica, because she creates the "current" that makes DREAMS possible!!!

I began practicing yoga about 2 years ago. What I love about Balance is the fact that it is perfect for EVERYONE. Never been to yoga? Come. Been practicing forever...great, come. The hardest part is getting the courage to show up for the first time. But Erica and all the other teachers will help you with that too! My yoga is always with me. In my daily dealings with my 3 kids, I need my yoga breath. Teaching middle school, you better believe I need my yoga breath. I love the messages in the practices, and I love being able to help spread those messages to those I come in contact with. The best thing you can do is take time for you. Come to Balance. Choose LOVE. xo

Are you unsure of what yoga studio to try? I was! Try Balance! About a year ago, I was new, no experience with yoga, and found the instructors, and whole environment, to be welcoming, and encouraging,.
Now, Balance is my home.. I practice 4-5 x a week there, and have a unique experience each and every time I am there. The instructors are incredibly insightful and dedicated, and seem to know exactly what I need each and every practice. I cannot imagine a week without Balance!
And the barre classes? Fun, and an intense workout all at once!

I cannot even begin to express what an amazing community Erica Denman has created through Balance Fitness. It is a beautiful place to regain self awareness, practice mindfulness, and keep us on the path to whole hearted living. Her passion encompasses everything she offers from a yoga practice unlike any other, to events that inspire, uplift and gently remind us of the importance in caring for ourselves. It's been so refreshing to practice at Balance. I finally found a place that encompasses all of what yoga is. I am challenged physically, mentally and always hear a message that challenges me. Ive never taken classes somewhere where the teachers take each others classes, support each other and come to assist the yogis to reach their full potential in poses. Also, it's important to mention that it's not all about Yoga, it's about community. There are classes you can take, workshops, etc. I could go on and on about the Balance community, I've made new lifelong friends. It's a wonderful, warm, welcoming place for EVERYONE!

I love taking yoga with Erica! Her classes are challenging both physically and mentally and I always walk away feeling stronger and lighter. From how she helps with slight adjustments so that I am getting the most from my poses to how she shares her personal life stories and weaves them into the practice, it is one of the most fulfilling yoga practices I've encountered. The studio is very cozy and I feel relaxed as soon as I walk through the door. If you like to break through physical and mental barriers with your yoga practice this is the place to be!

I've taken yoga classes all over Rochester and Balance nails it! It has a totally comfortable feel for anyone walking into the studio - novice or not. It's a great workout, you'll definitely leave sweaty! The hour yoga classes absolutely fly by thanks to Erica and MJ's wit, and every class is different week to week if you want to mix up your routine. The studio's warm but never oppressively hot if you're afraid of hot yoga.

Balance Fitness is a gem in the heart of Webster, NY!. The teachers there are amazing and nurture your experience in every class. They offer a wide variety of fitness classes suitable for all ages and skill levels. The environment is warm and welcoming! What's not to love??!!! This is my go-to place for an amazing yoga practice. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, relatable and make you feel comfortable throughout the practice. The studio is very quaint and relaxing...just the atmosphere I need to unwind and relax. In my mind, there is no better instructor than Erica to immerse you in a total mind body experience. She helps make the practice as much about quieting your mind as strengthening your muscles. I feel so calm and refreshed after leaving the studio, ready to take on and breathe through any challenge that comes my way. Try it!!! Your body and your mind will thank you!!

This is the first place I have found that teaches yoga that inspires you. The teachers at Balance are incredibly knowledgable and so welcoming. No matter what your level of yoga, you will be able to take a class and get not only a great workout but you will receive a message about yoga that you can apply in your life. You leave a class feeling like you had a workout perfect for you mentally and physically. I have been all over Rochester trying multiple yoga classes. There are great places all over but this facility is top notch. It is well worth your visit!!

I can’t say enough positive things regarding Balance Fitness. I am currently taking the early morning Bootcamp class at 5:15AM. From the first day I walked in, I felt at ease and felt like we were all a big family. Missy is an incredible instructor who challenges you to be better than you were the day before. Balance Fitness is not just about a yoga class here or a bootcamp class there, it is about a group of people supporting each other to find balance in life lead by Missy and Erica. In simple terms, IT’S AWESOME!

Erica, is an AMAZING Yoga teacher. I first experienced her as a brand new student in an open level power class. Erica made me feel comfortable, challenged and constantly engaged by her inspiring stories. These stories our what sets her apart from your ordinary Yoga teacher. Needless to say, one class a week turned into two and two turned into more. I would suggest Erica as a teacher to all levels of yogis. Beginner to advanced and everything in between.

He new space, Balance Fitness is personable and non intimidating, true to the person Erica is.
