For being a good university I'm surprised at the poor facilities. Seems like the thought of using air conditioning is lost on them as it feels muggy in there most of the time not to mention the dated machines that quite honestly are in poor shape. There are also limited machines and you'll be lucky if some guys aren't hogging it for themselves which honestly happens too often as the thought of taking turns seems to be lost to them. If you can afford a gym membership I'd recommend going elsewhere, even planet fitness is cheap and I'd wish I'd known this sooner.

The fitness center is usually packed during the Fall and Spring semesters. Winter and Summer, you can usually workout peacefully. People tend to leave the weights everywhere though. The pool is nice too, just closes earlier for students.

I go to the main gym in the ARC to watch the basketball games for the D3 Baruch Bearcats in the CUNYAC. To access the Main Gym, enter the Newman Vertical Camus on 24th and Lex and follow the Bearcat footprints. You can take the elevator to B2 if you don't want to walk down two floors. On B2 walk through the lobby with restrooms and views to the pool and other athletic facilities. There's a sign to the Main Gym.
Usually one side of the gym is open for seating. The place is colorful, with signs proclaiming Bearcat nation and home of the Bearcats. There are banners with championship dates that haven't been updated in a few years. You sit close to the action. The Bearcats have been a contender for the CUNYAC championship every year since the ARC opened in 2002. There's an article from the NY Times reprinted and framed in the lobby about the opening of the facility for its first game against SUNY New Paltz.
