A Life-Changing Journey: My Experience at the Tai Chi Center.
Two months ago, I walked into the TaiChi Center as a complete beginner-curious, a little nervous, and hoping to find a way to reconnect with my body and mind.
From day one, the atmosphere at the center felt welcoming, calm, and full of quiet strength.
The space itself seems to radiate peace, but it's the people who truly make it special-especially the two extraordinary masters guiding our
journey.
Master Sean has a presence that is
both grounding and inspiring. With
wisdom and endless patience, he is
reminding us that Tai Chi is as much about inner stillness as it is about movement.

As a beginner, it's easy to feel

I came to Body & Brain looking for relief from back and neck pain, and I’m so glad I did. The instructors blend yoga and qigong in a unique way that helps me decompress and reconnect with my body. The studio is clean, spacious, and has a cheerful, relaxed atmosphere. Even after just a few classes, I already feel improvements in my body and mind. There are many benefits that I get from participating in Body & Brain YogaTai Chi - Forest Hills NY, including: I feel healthier, I can think more clearly and calmly, I learn to be at peace with myself, I learn to love myself more, when I am doing Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi activities I can cry uncontrollably help me to release the emotions and problems that weighed on my mind, after that I felt my heart was open and light... I was happy because at the end of the session the Master provided time for us to share stories about whatever made us happy because we had friends to share stories with. Going to Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi is the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.
I joined is to be stronger for physical health strength and mental fitness.

I have been attending classes here for approximately 6 months and within such a short time frame I see my growth and progress. When I started this practice, it was mostly to become physically fit but during this period I learnt a lot about myself from an emotional aspect and my habits that did not serve me. Overall, I can say that I have a better relationship with the people around me and most importantly myself. I have been searching for years on how to improve my energy and who I am in my life. I was very lucky to find body and brain. It taught me to repair and enhance my own energy through Dantian. It repaired my mind, body and soul deep inside me. I am very grateful to have met Eileen and Sean. They taught me how to use the Dantian to release and clear away my anxiety, tension, stress and pain, allowing positive energy to enter the Dantian and then circulate the positive energy throughout the body, allowing me to realize and feel my true self.

I’ve been a member of Body & Brain of Forest Hills for over 4 years and I go to classes at least 3 times a week. I know that taking Yoga & Tai Chi has made a real impact on my life. The classes are invigorating, energizing, and even relaxing (meditation is definitely a favorite). I leave the classes feeling better physically, emotionally, and mentally. Classes are never boring. There are so many varied exercises targeting the whole body. The instructors give expert direction and are also encouraging and attentive to individual needs. Most impressive is that the environment is welcoming & respectful.
Special recognition to Master Sean Newman, manager of Forest Hill’s Yoga & Tai Chi and congratulations to him for winning 2 gold medals in the QiGong competition in Korea. So much appreciation to all the phenomenal masters; Amy, Devon, Ilene, Maryann, & Sean.

I came to body and brain to manage stress and help with my lower back pain I am very happy I came here! I now breathe better something that we don’t focus in our busy life we rush to everything that we do and don’t realize that our body will do better just with a little more air in our lungs. When you come to body and brain you will feel you are in a place that every one cares about how you feel without judging you, all the instructors are great, máster Sean who is the manager of the center is a person who cares and guides you to get the best benefit from the class so you can be sure that he will be there for you for not only the exercise but with any personal situation that is bothering you. I am finding the Tai Chi yoga enlightening as well as challenging my body to stretch and get more flexible. As we get older the body experiences stiffness. I am so happy I found this place. Clean and a great friendly staff. Shawn and Devin really makes you feel comfortable and will show you direction for any corrections you make need. Again did I mention I Love Taking this class. I am very fortunate that i found body and brain yoga taichi forest hills. I have been going to this place for four months and this place has helped me alot with overcoming my depression. Whoever is still not involved/ aware about this organization, I would say, they are missing one of the best gifts from life. We, human and the rest of the creation of God, even those little ants, are all connected. "Body and Brain Yoga Tai Chi" in forest hills, NY, is more than a yoga center to me because it is working on developing that connection between me and all livelihood. This center helps us to know our true-self and to have a better understanding about our infinite potential of inner energy. It is a descriptive and practical method of energy healing with unbelievably simple and easy way !!! The classes are here a combination of yoga, stretching, tapping, vibration, Tai Chi and meditation which helps us to warm up our core body temperature first, then cleanse all negative energy from the body and lastly accumulate fresh positive energy to our body and soul from our superior self. That's why, after each class all yogis come out from the center with a rejuvenating, relaxed ,calm and positive self of themselves. The atmosphere of classroom as well as the whole center has a very clean, positive and peaceful vive and all the instructors( Master Sean, Ilene and Devon) are very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Thanks to God with all my soul, that he (God) directed me to be a part of it. I would love to be a part of it throughout the rest of my life😊.

Absolutely love all the classes at Body & Brain. The atmosphere is very welcoming and accepting of all abilities. This is the only place I have found that has helped me truly relax and get in touch with my body. I've been a member for about ten years. I am also multiple sclerosis patient. The practice has greatly helped me improve my strength and flexibility. The staff is very friendly and they are mindful of my condition. That doesn't mean they won't give me the occasional nudge to try a little harder though! The other members are also very friendly when we chat after class. I recommend this for any age or level.

I feel fortunate to have found Body and Brain.. In the relatively short time I’ve attended I’ve had amazing results. The name is very descriptive of the results I’ve realized. I had been going to physical therapy for my hip and no longer need to go. The sessions are challenging but relaxing. The atmosphere is personal and friendly. i am so happy to have the opportunity to share my experience with Master Sean. At the start of the pandemic classes were being offered online. From the start, there is a wonderful bright and sincere smile along with an exuberant, and encouraging voice inviting the opportunity to take this special time just for US.. taking that moment to set the intention - what do we actually want from the class .. It is a newfound camaraderie - a formation of a team of me and myself to search inside and experience the body and what it is doing and feeling and as we do this, the mind relaxes, the attention shifts to what is felt in the body - where that mind goes, the energy flows… opening and circulating riding on the waves of the breath… He has an amazingly creative way, replete with explanations at just the right time, helping everyone to stay in their range of motion and ensuring special tips so as not to get injured - we can go beyond what we think we can do.. and voila, you find your body stretching and opening in ways not experienced before - joints releasing, the “ouches" invited to say “feels good”
i am especially grateful also for the participation in several workshops M Sean has offered .. During the strength training - i again witnessed how wonderful these classes are.. Just when you think you can't do something, there he is encouraging us to “do your best” “you can do it”and the reminder to stay within one's range of motion - He helped me to recognize what i was doing in plank and other challenges that was inhibiting the full potential of the practice, and i made strides that i have not done in the past. He graciously offered individual time and observed what it was that i was doing and helped me with modifications that resulted in enhancing the practice.. stronger, lighter , less effort and recognizing that i can change my energy … So thankful am i - and in the 21day strength training - which i am still practicing- very different from ordinary strength training because of the mind body spirit orientation.. always inserting info about and practice with breath, mind, and body- and always at the end - meditation, energy and breath work to further release and accumulate and store the energy …
I have been practicing this system for about 20 years..The integration in every class of mind body and spirit through M Sean’s creative instruction, has significantly raised my awareness, impacting my life in many significant ways. and i am happy to share and teach it with my patients, friends, family, etc,
And now just a few weeks ago M Sean is teaching a fantastic Kigong course. I teach as well and appreciate the nuances of and importance of importing and infusing the body kind spirit awareness. - I had been studying with another Body n Brain M Andrew , also fantastic (as they all are ).. again , such exquisite learning

This is a wonderful class and place! I’ve taken yoga classes before, but compared to here, I find this more fun and relaxing. Numerous classes covering Korean style yoga, tai chi, mindful meditation, deep breathing, stretching, and life style. Master Amy is a truly inspirational person and has helped so many people including my deceased wife. Stress relief is a primary theme including redirecting one's own energy. Eastern medical techniques pick up where Western medicine leaves off. Their system is highly evolved and the product of centuries of knowledge. Although the benefits may not be evident from one simple class, time will prove to positively improve your life. My wife was a physician and I am a dentist. This is "great medicine"!Highly recommend!

I have had difficulty with chronic pain and limited range of motion for many years. Working one-on-one with Master Amy has helped me so much in just a few sessions. This is a very good practice, but Forest Hills branch became all about bottom line and money. They no longer care about us and our improvements and healing, as long as you payed a lot of money for the unlimited membership and all other additional expensive classes, they no longer care if you come to class or don't. In fact it's became too crowded, so now they actually prefer we don't come as often as we would like, by making the schedule inconvenient for us to attend. This is the way for a crowd control, never mind thousands of dollars we paid for the membership.

Ive been going to body and brain since October and it has been a truly amazing experience. It's so much more than yoga or tai chi. Amy and Sean are the warmest people that you would ever meet and are invested in your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. I have read tons of self help books, tried gyms, personal trainers and even kon maried my whole house. But nothing has been more meaningful than taking these classes and sharing my experiences over a cup of tea at the end. Classes include people of all ages and stages in life. I would tell everyone with life stressors and or physical ailments to come to this clean and serene space to move your body and heal your mind. Sounds cheesy but it's about to be 2020, so why not.

I highly recommend Body and Brain Yoga to everyone, the yoga exercise is suitable for all ages. After I had an herniated disc, I decided to strengthen my muscles and body. On one gloomy fall day, I came upon a tent at the Forest Hills street fair. A friendly woman was handing out flyers for Body and Brain yoga and I decided to sign up for an introductory session there.
A few days later, I completed the session and after understanding what this practice teaches, I walked out of the studio knowing it had changed my life forever.
Although this is categorized as yoga, the classes include an all body workout tailored to individuals of all ages (yes, from children to elderly folk) and of all abilities. There are classes which build up a sweat for those who are looking to strengthen muscles and other much lighter classes to build flexibility. There are multiple classes at all hours of the day to suit your schedule and plenty of fun community events to join in on. Regardless of which classes you attend, the euphoric feeling moving your body is all the same. The location has a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere with encouraging instructors and a friendly group of welcoming individuals.
The woman I met at the street fair was Master Amy; she is a learned instructor who is passionate about spreading love, honesty, and helping others to overcome their obstacles. Through classes and sessions with her, I am discovering how to heal emotional pains and build my inner voice to face my challenges with strength. I began to take as many classes that I could and started to see the changes in my mind and body. I was stronger, calmer, and releasing tension that I couldn't believe I was holding.
If you go to classes often, I can personally guarantee that this practice will shift your perspectives and change your life for the better.

I really love this yoga studio and the instructors! Amy and Sean are so great- love them both so much. The exercises taught here really helped me a lot when I was struggling with loneliness, depression, hormonal problems, weight gain and low self-confidence. There are many Body & Brain locations around the country that I've gone to but what I especially love about the Forest Hills one is their CLEAN bathroom and changing facilities. I usually have to go to yoga right after work so I really do appreciate clean amenities like that for me to change into and get my mind ready to do yoga. I recommend this place!!

When I visited the Forest Hills Center for the first time, I was amazed at how large and beautiful it was since it is really hidden away on the second floor. The atmosphere is warm and loving and the instructors are so knowledgeable and caring. The class I experienced was very different from other types of yoga, but I was so happy to have been able to really relax my whole body and mind during the 1 1/2 hour class. I would highly recommend this center to anyone who is looking to be able to forget about their busy lives for a while and quiet down their mind and body.
As an update i just want to share that although I have been away from the center for a short while, coming back has neen a wonderful experience. It truly is a haven for self healing and finding peace within.

I’m so grateful to have tried out this place in August. I was expecting to feel more relaxed, mindful, and more in tune with my mind/body. But I got MUCH more. I found a community of people who treat you like family. You don’t just walk in and out of class. You’re always checked up on, asked how you’re doing or feeling, and if you need to talk or work on something specific, they will always be willing to help. Being new to the neighborhood, I was looking for a yoga center that felt like I belonged. And I found it! This studio really feels like a community where they care. This yoga practice has helped me find salvage and allowed me to address many of my health issues. Along with daily classes, they host many different seminars and events that bring happy, open-minded and nonjudgemental people. It also allows you to break the same dull routine of an exercise class. Master Amy is quite amazing! I've never met anyone like her. She can pinpoint exactly what is bothering you either physically or mentally. All the teachers have taught me something about myself in every class I've attended. Recommended this class to anyone looking to gain back health and happiness in their lives.

I've learned and grown so much since I first started attending classes at the center in December 2018. My body is healing and I'm better able to handle the stresses in my life. The instructors are always supportive and caring. It feels really good after a long day to walk into the center and be surrounded by kind smiling faces that are truly sincere. The workout is great! I've been attending classes about twice a week at Body & Brain for around two and a half years and I can honestly say this practice has been life changing for me. I went in with no expectations, having met Master Amy at a street fair when I knew I needed to start doing something physical to feel better and relieve stress. I was interested in yoga and meditation, but always had a hard time focusing and stopping my to-do list from racing through my mind. I was feeling stiff but also like a blob from not doing much physical activity regularly, and I had trouble sleeping and blocking out anxiety even when I had no good reason to be stressed.
Through the classes and several workshops organized by Body & Brain (including an incredible trip to Sedona!) I've discovered so much about myself and what I'm capable of. Every class is different and the instructors take great care to make sure everyone feels welcome and offer modifications so people at all ages and activity levels can benefit. My strength and flexibility have definitely increased as a result, and I'm much better equipped to handle stressful situations. My professional life and relationships are so much better as a result. I've taken some other yoga classes while on vacation and I enjoy them but I miss the parts of Body & Brain that make the practice unique.
When you become a member there are some notes in the brochures about what to expect when starting out and I found these to be true. During the first 6 months I felt a lot of pains I hadn't felt before and I got sick a lot. I sometimes regretted reconnecting with my body! I'm really glad I stuck with it because after that period the pains went away and I feel a million times better across the board.
Like most things you will get as much out of this practice as you put into it, and I have benefitted immensely. If you're looking for a nonjudgmental place with positive vibes to get your body and brain in shape, this is it!

I’ve been a member of Body and Brain since last June 2018. It is an awesome, wholistic program for the mind, body and spirit. The workouts are extremely effective. They are very strenuous but I never feel afraid of being injured since they are low impact and the instructors monitor your form. They work every inch of your body, while soothing and calming your mind. In addition, you learn the importance of keeping a healthy body, healthy heart and a powerful mind. The exercises don’t only address muscle tone, they help heal and regulate your internal organs.
LOL! I became seriously ill last year and regretfully had to take a break from the center. Man, was I bummed out about that! As soon as I was able to recover from my illness, though, I was right back at the center. Also, I just took the Finding Your True Self Workshop this weekend and it blew my mind. I gained more insights from those two days than I have in a multitude of workshops that I have attended, and I have attended many. I highly recommend checking the Body and Brain Center out.

I love this place, just as much for the people (big shout out to Amy) who teach there, as for the teaching. A beautiful, warm, friendly environment with a focus on wellness, good energy, peace and fun above all. Amy's energy and enthusiasm is infectious. I have been going to Body & Brain Yoga in Forest Hills for 2 weeks and I absolutely love it!! Every teacher there is fantastic. It's a place to de stress, and be in rhythm with your body and breathe. Yesterday while attending Amy's class focusing on leg strength and toe tapping, I was able to do an exercise in it's entirety that was difficult and my first time doing it...I actually felt a smile on my face while I was doing it. I was so happy and proud of myself. That's amazing feeling!
Any thoughts, worries, or stresses completely vanish while I'm at Body & Brain Yoga. I am excited to go there every day. I feel both physically stronger and mentally stronger!

Went to this place with my wife expecting just to get more flexibility, strength, and balance. But this place is more then what I thought. This place is life changing. After my morning class today at Forest Hills Body & Brain Yoga/Tai Chi Center, I wanted to write a follow-up review to the first one that was posted in early 2016. What was said then still holds true today. This time I wanted to reflect on the overall experience of the classes.
So, while I was resting comfortably on my back stretched out on the floor after a high-octane vibration workout where pent-up emotions were released, followed by a guided meditation and energy healing, a thought came to mind: waking up the whole being in a joyful way is a beautiful start to one's day—the body is energized, mind is relaxed, and the spirit seems more alive. I was in the moment!
Not one class is ever the same. Sometimes I wonder in amazement at the endless variety in the stretching, meditation and breathing exercises introduced. All appears carefully choreographed, transitioning seamlessly from one to another, that the goal to get the mind in the body, to feel the body, so we can learn to listen to it and help with the healing process does eventually happen. The exciting part for me is to feel the energy in and around me and moving it with intention during meditation and Tai Chi/Dahn Mu Do practices.
The real challenge is not in the poses I hold for a certain length of time, it's when I step out of the center, into the world. It's like I'm suddenly transformed back into a wild creature of habit, set on auto-pilot, to run a marathon throughout the day. And even when I have more than enough time to get to point B, I still rush. Fortunately, the Masters, being ever so observant, continue to voice the practice of being mindful and in the present till the very end as they embrace the students goodbye for the day.
I would like to reiterate what I'd written in the 2016 review--that the primary factor making this Forest Hills center special for me are the Masters there. It is so important for me to learn and understand what I'm doing, so when I say they are great teachers, they truly are. Everyone that walks into the center is special to them. They extend themselves to help if you want it. They always have time to listen—perhaps too well, in fact, because there were times they would follow up on something I had said that I didn't even remember I did.
You see, the whole practice is not just for them, but for helping others to be self healers and be the best version of themselves individually and collectively.

Just three short months at the Body & Brain Yoga/TaiChi in Forest Hills, I have felt physically more flexible, stronger and grounded. The body and brain techniques and exercises have definitely challenged and strengthened my will to not give up so easily; thus, opening my mind to push through the “I can’t” thoughts to the “I can” ones successfully. More surprisingly for me was to finally feel the energy life force (chi) tingling between my hands and coursing through my body.
What makes the center more special are the Masters there. They genuinely care for their students and are always available to listen and help. The welcome embrace sets the tone upon entering and whatever worries you have going in eventually dissipates.
The Masters know your name. So when you come, be prepared to be greeted with acceptance and love; be ready to receive a new family of friends who are all there to help one another to heal. You will find a new way to achieve healthy balance and harmony into your everyday stressful lives. And you will, as I have discovered, come out refreshed, energized, focused and surprisingly peaceful. And that is a true blessing.

This studio is really special, focusing on the mind-body connection in ways that are immediately useful, reassuring, challenging, fun, and healing. I've been coming to this center since 2005. When I was pregnant I was high risk but continued yoga. My doctor didn't think I would carry full term but the yoga kept me healthy and positive. I have been coming here for over a year. They are wonderful people and with my high anxiety and panic disorder they really made me feel safe and at home. Master Amy and her team are amazing and caring people. You get a good workout, good relaxation. This yoga is good for the body and soul. You're stressed, you're worried, you can't stop thinking, you overanalyze, every little thing gets to you, the list is endless, right? Well, at least it was for me. I started Dahn Yoga back in 2005 and after an 8 year hiatus came back to the center and experienced exactly what I remembered when I'd last gone, a warm, inviting and welcoming environment. How could I have gone for soo long without Dahn yoga? I came in stressed, depressed, saddened over the loss of both of my dear parents, I felt alone and scared. I'd been caring for my father after losing my mother and hadn't done anything for myself in such a long time, that I felt out of touch with the world, with humanity, with myself. Coming back to Dahn was the turning of new page in the book of my life. I was greeted just as in old times, warmly. I began going a couple of times a week and began feeling the transformation that was taking place in my life. I started feeling more connected to the world, but most importantly to myself. I started surrendering my feelings of fear and worry and came to the realization that my life did not have to be the way it was. Through their excercises, I started to get back in touch with myself. I simply cannot describe in enough detail what Dahn has the capacity to do for people. You owe it to yourself, your family and your loved ones, to experience Dahn and see the benefits you can come away with. I give thanks everyday for Dahn yoga, that's how profound of an impact it's made in my life, and in that of my brother's who originally got me into it. Give it a try, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

As someone who has been practicing yoga for almost six years now, I had never expected yoga to transform me in such a dramatic, positive way. That is, until I found Dahn Yoga. I have been coming to this center for just under a year, and I can say there is absolutely nowhere else on earth that will make you feel so loved, and cared for, as well as open your heart to love and care for yourself. I have become so much happier, motivated and fit since I have started taking the workshops that Dahn Yoga has to offer. I highly recommend stopping by any time and meeting the incredible manager, who is always 150% present for every single member, to learn more about the program and how it can benefit you. Anyone and Everyone can and will benefit from taking this practice seriously. I have made this a priority for myself to attend classes as often as possible, and know you will as well if you go into classes with an open mind. I personally used to take high dosages of ADHD and sleeping medications. I am so proud of myself and thankful to this center for helping me find the energy within myself to start my senior year of college medication-free. (And I've never slept so well before this year.) I've also seen co-members, almost miraculously, be relieved of depression, anxiety, and/or physical pain. I attended a Dahn Yoga class for the first time on my birthday this year and it has been one of the best gifts I have ever given to myself! I LOVE this practice and that says a lot coming from someone who didn't enjoy yoga before because I thought it was too slow. I attend classes at least 3 times every week and each class is very different with lots of meaningful movements. You will never take the same class twice and that adds a bonus to the amazing experiences you are able to incorporate into your live. The instructors are phenomenal and truly encouraging to everyone who attends which makes the environment such a loving place to be. I have also taken 2 workshops, so far, that has helped deepen the practice for me. This practice for me is about the process of completely connecting my mind, body and soul and it truly works...I definitely feel different within these past 2 1/2 months since I have started. I am energized, more conscious and people even tell me that I am glowing:)! I can actually feel my body now and it's such a powerful experience! I truly feel this is my way towards holistic healthy living. I highly recommend everyone to try it; you are guaranteed to feel a shift after just one class.
