I’ve been going to Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi since 2018. I was never able to go in person more than once a week. But now with their live remote sessions I can take 2 classes a week which is exactly what I need to counter the effects of long hours working at a desk. If you’re looking for a way to reduce neck, back and shoulder pain, etc, I highly recommend them!

Walking in for the first time I had no clue what I walking into. Three months later, visiting Mary Ann twice a week a dedicating 2 hours of my week to take her classes I have learned yoga and meditation. The yoga has strengthened my muscles in places I didn’t know needed strengthening, have finally severely reduced my lower back pain I had for years where I don’t think about how I will bend over to grab a toy off the floor and have total fell asleep on her meditating because it’s just that great. Mary Ann has taught me to challenge my muscles and strength and learn to relax my body when needed. I walk into her class with a smile every time because it’s my favorite part of the day. I can’t wait to awaken my muscles and take on the class’ challenge. Thank you Mary Ann for watching each class member and know what body area we need to work on and which needs more of challenge - your careful watch on us has taught us how to take care of ourselves and make ourselves better. I am so happy to have the opportunity to talk about my experience with Master Maryann. During the pandemic , when online courses were offered to members . and invitations extended to those not familiar with the this practice, there was this charming woman with a big smile on her face. (and incidentally shared that that smile itself brings on the feel good hormones ) She greeted every single person with a warm welcome - a much appreciated gesture especially while being eclipsed from the usual and sundry daily activities and interactions that the pandemic has signaled - as she began to teach - she explained every movement and discussed how it is healing - everyone staying within range of motion according to them not others - and the big treat was her sharing of what she was experiencing - the ouches , the ”I don’t want to do this” , the feel good , and her own way of uttering accompanying sound associated with it lol. Her movements so well coordinated and innovative, commensurate with the ancient teachings - She let me know as i yawned away that i was releasing stagnant energy and stress and encouraged me. She also tenderly reminded me that this is time for ME
I began to take workshops with her and other classes. She was and is accessible - I began ,in her walking class, to walk like I never have while
recognizing the important concept of the energy and the awareness inside. It helped me with elevating my mood every morning to get up out and ready. I am athletic but with pandemic I appreciated the encouragement. Her energy healing workshop and her gut detox workshops magnificent - replete with such life giving gifts for bridging mind body and spirit - when I took a workshop I had taken years back there was Maryann present , as a mirror through which I can look to observe and become ever aware of my body and my mind and spirit.- no judgment just presence Oh and the wooden pillow class is phenomenal - Awakening my feet and connection to our whole body constellation... I have been practicing in this wonderful tradition for over two decades as I grow i offer to my patients in my integrative therapy practice . I am so grateful for Maryann - her tireless dedication and cultivated kindness, sincerity , compassion and expertise. A most humble bow of appreciation. In 2019 I became a diabetic. My blood sugar was 533. Exercise is as important as diet in regulating blood sugar. My blood sugar is ten points lower if I walk 2 miles a day than if I skip exercise. I also have arthritis, I am 71. Body and Brain yoga has done wonders for my overall health and physical well being. I have lost 38 lbs. and I always feel better after I do chair yoga. I try to do my yoga exercises on off days because the stretching and pummeling always helps. The leg and feet exercises are so important for my knee issues and diabetics have to take good care of their feet and circulation. My blood sugar is now 122 and I know discovering this method of exercise is a large part of it. The community of people are caring and fun to be with on Zoom. I highly recommend it. The best therapy and exercise you can find for the money.

If i could i would give them a zero. I went there for 2 years and thought it was the best thing that ever happen to me but thank God I didn't drink the cool aid , Its a cult like scientology. There's a rollenstone article "Yoga Cult" and a CNN program about Dahn Yoga (they keep changing the name after they get sued and more people become aware of their scam) will give you more information. With the help of these articles I was able to get 50% of my money back but more important didn't become another one of there victims.

This center and it's practice have completely changed my life. I couldn't walk when I came in because I was hit by a car as a pedestrian and no therapies worked. In 3 1/2 weeks I put my cane down. Although I have difficulty making time to take as many classes as I would like, this center has changed my life. First and foremost the people who come here are very welcoming, kind, modest and very comforting. The great characteristics of the people who come to the studio have really assisted in setting a comforting tone for a distressing setting. The instructors at the Centre are outstanding as well. I have been attending classes at the Franklin Square Dahn Yoga Center since 2006. When I started, I did not come frequently because I was afraid I would strain my back. However, the more frequently I took classes, the better my body felt and more I was able to cope with stress. I experienced better sleep, fewer colds, and greater physical stamina.
