British Swim school has done wonders for my daughter. They have a really good system breaking down safety and swim skills in ways kids can understand and practice. Less structured programs were not really helping, but for my daughter and the kids she swims with I see them all progressing week after week. And all the teachers are great with kids! It’s the highlight of our week!

My boys (5yr and 7yr) have been taking lessons with British Swim School for about a month. The instructors are incredibly patient with my stubborn boys. Class sizes are small, so each student gets a good amount of attention per lesson. Rescheduling lessons is also very easy and convenient. I wish we started earlier.

My 7th month old son has been going to the British Swim school for about a month now to learn about water safety. We have thoroughly enjoy being with Ms. Hailee, who is an awesome instructor & makes swim class extra fun with the songs, learning to float, & practicing submersions. They make managing your classes & requesting for swim make-ups super easier via their app or phone & the prices are reasonable. Everyone is extremely professional, helpful & polite. I recommend British Swim school to anyone who is interested in getting their infant acclimated to the water & learning about water safety for their little one.

The instructors Hailee and Jharcelys and coordinator Ava are beyond amazing. Their care, cmpassion and patience with my child, who had a fear of being in the water, is beyond measure. In two classes, my once koala in the water child, was confident to float on her back, put her head underwater and move around unattended and without hanging onto a wall. I feel the kindness and constant motivation in the instructors voice and rapport, boosted her confidence ten-fold. You all get 100 star from us!

I am so pleased with how swim classes for my boys are going. They are beginner “scared” swimmers and Shannon has been incredibly patient and kind as she is teaching them using games and songs. This gentle approach is exactly what they need to help them conquer their fears while also encouraging them to learn new skills. Ava has also been very helpful, answering any questions we have and always being present during the swim lessons. I highly recommend British Swim School!

I had a bad experience operationally how the place was being run - was a customer of the Nanuet location. Had my 2 daughters signed up for the starfish program starting at the end of April (a total of 5 different lessons for each of my girls). I called to express my concern after the 4th lesson, that every single time my daughters had a different instructor and that there was not continuity for their learning (some instructors will have them do a safe entry to the pool and others would not; floating techniques being taught were different and the girls were not getting the chance to learn and trust a consistent instructor). I also expressed to Dena (manager) that the Garnersville location, where I was required to go to when Nanuet’s pool closed, was dirty and not at the standard that I expect. I also shared that whenever we show up to classes as agreed to before and scheduled, we are told we are not on the schedule. This is unacceptable and embarrassing every time.

I spoke to Dena at length and told her if these items are outside of what can be expected from the swim school, that I would withdraw my children with no problem. She convinced me to try again and that she wanted to give me a chance to experience the school in a better way - come on Friday at 6pm she told me — your girls will be on the schedule.

We get dressed, go to the Nanuet location on the day and time we were told. It was laughable — we are told by the coordinator, you guys are not on the schedule (loudly again in front of all the other folks in the pool). We don’t have an instructor for you. I have to figure out what to do to have the girls swim today.

I call Dena and leave a voicemail and sent an email. She responds 2 hours later with a text telling me that industry standard is not to have a consistent instructor and that I should enjoy my summer - couldn’t care less about losing a customer and the fact that she mislead me again and did not live up to the commitment. We’ll waive your 30 day cancellation notice requirement she says. I received messaging a couple days later advising me how my girls were always "accommodated". This is an interesting choice of words - an accommodation for me implies that something is being done that is outside of the norm to give my girls access -- we pay in advance monthly and classes are scheduled; we show up and are told we are not on the schedule. This not an "accommodation" that is unprofessional. If this is what a 4.9 star experience is, then I am disheartened.

I am so glad I enrolled my daughter at British Swim School. She’s only three years old and she’s been doing very well in her weekly lessons. Hailee is very patient and clear with her instructions. Ava is always friendly and welcoming when we arrive. I would highly recommend them especially if you have small children.

My kids and I love swim instructor Hailee--she really knows her stuff, and also treats them with respect and gets buy-in from them about what they're comfortable doing.

Sometimes the shower and changing areas in the facility can be a little gross with standing water puddles and people's hairs, but I suppose that's any public gym/pool.
