I’m an aide that comes weekly with a client that has a membership with this ymca .. the client aides are all (African Americans) !!! the (women) behind the desk are Not so friendly they would stare at you and Not say anything .. i was sitting there minding my own businesses and i was the only one sitting there in the lobby.. a man came from out the office and looks at me and asked staff who i was.. and starting whispering too another staff member !!! i was gonna sign me and my kids up for a membership .. after that situation it made me feel uncomfortable ..

The customer service provided by Liz & Cassidy was what convinced me to do business with this location. Liz gave me a tour of the property which included two floors. The 2nd floor has an indoor track, studio and weight training room. The 1st floor held the locker rooms, unisex sauna & jacuzzi along with a five lane pool. I didn’t even have the intention to do business but the fact that Liz wanted to know my needs had me feel more like a ‘person’ than a client. Thank you!

Updated review: Give credit where credit is due. Friendliness of staff is much better. Full pool/sauna setup plus much more. I'd like more evening classes, but overall a solid Y. It still loses a star for the new trend of attempting to sign a doc you can't see through a touchpad.

Very nice facility and friendly staff. I would give it 5 stars were it not for the childcare, which was a major factor of why we chose the YMCA. The last 2 months have been plagued with cancellations mostly on weekends. I sincerely hope they hire more staff (the ones in the day care on weekdays are fantastic, by the way) and make the program more accessible.
Update:6/10/2025 - I am now certain that we would go somewhere else if another gym had daycare. As it is, they have cancelled childcare several times in the last 2 weeks (today without even a phone call so it was a drive there for nothing), they never have it on Sunday, and it seems management doesn't want to address the issue. I don't blame the wonderful ladies who work in childcare, I blame the management for not having on-call people and resolving this situation. The dues keep going up every year, but they certainly don't put it toward hiring anyone. Once our kids are in preschool we will go elsewhere and pay half the price.

I went to a yoga class last Thursday and I was prepared to pay $25 for a day pass even though I was only going for less than an hour.
The woman behind the desk looked up my name in the system and because I had never been a guest there before, she said I wouldn't have to pay for the pass and had another free pass before I had to start paying for the passes. After the yoga class I was so excited and wanted to join.
I went back yesterday to use my 2nd pass and a different person behind the counter acted like I was trying to get in for free, and the woman who put me in the system didn't even put any notes down when she took my info. Then she tells me about their policies and asked what the woman looked like. Really? I know gym policies.
So I left. And I will never do something I enjoyed again because of this situation. I have depression, so me even going out of the house once I am home is a huge step and I really liked the people who teach the yoga class. But to be treated like I didn't understand how the rules work and being told incorrect information and then wasting time and gas to drive there, what's the point when the things I enjoy get dangled in front of me and then ripped away by an employee who told me incorrect information.

My go to spot is the Bethlehem YMCA, I have visited the Guilderland location. The Guilderland location has a great pool. It’s clean. The staff is friendly and overall it has a professional vibe.

Poorly managed. Don’t come here if you have any other choice.
I came to the weight room today, a guy came to me said I have to lock my coat in the locker. I’ve been coming here for the last 4 years and today was the first time I heard this rule, and there was no one ever told me I can’t do it. I always put my coat at a corner that never bother anyone, compared to those who don’t wipe the machine or smash the weight, bringing a coat is the most harmless action. They fail to stop the more harmful actions but set me as their target. I told him I don’t have a lock with me today, maybe I can do my training with my coat. The guy said no, and he kept saying there is rule, he can show me the rule, but not providing any useful solutions for right now problem. Meanwhile his tone wasn’t nice at all, he’s like blaming someone who just made a huge mistake, which to me is something that can’t be smaller. And all of these are because they failed notifying me the rule 4 years ago.
Let me tell you what you should do, you should first talk to people NICELY, tell them they can finish training for today and remember to bring a lock next time. I’d like to do that if so.

Was taking a shower yesterday morning and noticed bugs and mold on the shower head and faucet unit. Then I realized there was mold on the ceiling too!! In a few of the other ones I looked at they had it too. For the money you pay for the membership there you’d think they would do a better job.

What a great experience I had this morning joining the Guiderland YMCA. The receptionist who helped me was awesome. She was friendly, professional, enthusiastic and knew her stuff! And I followed that with an outstanding spin class.

Mostly very nice facility. My only issue is people using the machines in the weight room sit at the machines between their sets staring at their phones while others have to wait for them - for extended periods.
There really should be a posted protocol for this self centered rudeness.

Rude and disrespectful staff with bad attitudes. Chaos in the gym due to unsupervised children and young adults that act like children. People use the indoor track like it’s their personal park, walking in all lanes while clearly there is a lane for walking, jogging, and running. Going back to the Clifton Park YMCA. This one is clearly mismanaged.

This location is not my primary club, but I have visited this facility several times now since I am often in the area. There is a decent variety of equipment, as well as full size pool with sauna and steam room. I've only been helped by a few different ladies a couple of times at the front desk, and all have a very nice to me. I am predominately checked in by Ms. Karmen. Karmen really stands out with her professional, yet personable character. She has a wonderful personality with a matching wonderful smile. She maintains a calm demeanor even when multi-tasking.
It isn't on the same level of Saratoga Springs YMCA in terms of facilities and hours of operation, but the staff here (from the lifeguards to the facility engineers to the front desk) really make the smaller location shine. I highly recommend joining for anyone who is on the fence with their decision. With the YMCA reciprocity policy, you can frequent the other locations when needed. Due to their myriad locations nationwide, it gives them a leg-up on the competition.

I had good feedback about this YMCA until I booked it for my son's birthday party and I am super irked about how it went. In March 2019, I visited a birthday party (of my friend's daughter) in Edison,NJ YMCA and it was so cleanly organized. That gave me the idea to arrange my son's birthday in YMCA. In the Edison YMCA, they called my friend two , three days before party date and planned everything in detail. There were three ladies who helped setting up the place, helped decorating, helped placing the food, helped bringing all supplies from the car to the party room and hosted the whole 2.5 hrs. They also provided plates, cups, pizzas for kids and facepainting as well. In Guilderland , you are on your own. They just gave portion of the gym for one hour and one lady (seems not a ymca stuff) came and wanted to get it over somehow and be done. I was not even provided with a trolley to carry the big bottled water packs. I asked the party organizer many times but all I got is "every YMCA is different".
