Visiting New York for a week i stopped by for a morning training session with Coach Carmen, it was really fun and a good mix of conditioning and technique drills on the pads finishing with a really light and playful technical sparring . Gym is big and beautiful with all you need for training in a group class or by yourself. They allow you to use their gear wich is great if you dont want to travel with yours and its also high quality gear (Sting boxing gloves and i use sanabul shin guards but they also have another top brands like venum). Will be back whenever i visit new york again.

Well, I've been going to this place for years. I have taken some classes, but mostly I work with a trainer. It's been a life changer for me, and I love the energy. It's a great place to get a good workout and learn some boxing skills. For me, I get what I need. :)

I took the free beginner boxing class at park place and it was very enjoyable. The class got straight into it no pleasantries. Once it did start it was mostly nonstop, it really drilled everything you knew into your head and muscles. I liked how everyone there was clearly there to learn and do their best and everyone there was really nice.

Trainers Cris and Lauren are beneficial to Muay Thai and awesome. They're paying attention to every individual more than you think and give good guidance and correction for correct technique and drills. If you apply yourself you will become a better fighter and see results in the art and in yourself. You're in good hands with them.πͺπΎ

We have the opportunity to cater to this place, during the launching pf the fight collective. it is a hidden gem. I live in the niegborhood and I am happy to found this boxing gym. The place was so historical and when you walk in you will feel the energy.
You must ready yourself to walk stairs, because itβs really down to the basement.

I've been going to Church Street for Muay Thai training for a year now, and can confidently say this is a great place to start. This year unfortunately with a lot of new signups registration is virtually required during the weeknights if you want to make a session. The community here is friendly and patient if you're willing to put in the time and effort. The coaches have all been very helpful in my development over the past year and I appreciate that the sport adopts a mutual level of respect whether you're just starting out or you've been training for over 5 years. If you're someone with more experience (3+ years), you may find the fundamentals to be lacking or the size of the facility to be inadequate, but for anyone just starting out, and even veterans, this is a great gym and quality lessons for the price point they offer.

I have an unhealthy obsession with combat sports, but have never trained a day in my life because I'm really shy and don't want to get punched in the head for a hobby. Well that's not true, I took one jiu jitsu class a few years ago and it was the most unwelcoming environment I have ever been in, but that's a story for another day.
My boss, who is actually the homie, started doing Muay Thai at Church Street Boxing recently and told me to tag along for a class as I'm always shadow boxing and talking MMA with her in the office lol.
I did a free trial intro level Muay Thai class at 7am, and got there about 5 minutes before to check in and get gloves. I was instructed that the Muay Thai room is in the back.
I walked through the main boxing gym floor to the men's locker room, and I swear this place feels like it's out of a Rocky movie. It's a grungy, no frills gym with loads of character. This is not a βboxerciseβ class or a cardio kickboxing gym. If you want to look all cute in your boxing wraps and gloves, this isn't the place. This is a fighters gym. I was told that almost all of the coaches are active or former fighters. It would be the perfect setting to film a boxing movie in lol.
I set my stuff down and nervously walked to the Muay Thai room in the back. I saw my boss and about 7 others warming up as the teacher, Lauren, came and introduced herself and was super welcoming.
We started with 5-10 minutes of jump rope which I LOVED, I can jump rope all mf day. It's actually my party trick, I know my way around a jump rope I swear to god.
After the warm up we started shadow boxing in the mirror and I immediately reverted to my prime Conor Mcgregor/Lyoto Machida karate stance that I have been doing for YEARS as my shower is warming up ahahahaa. Light on my feet bouncing back and forth, arms out wide, settle and play baby. My shampoo bottles have seen me win so many world titles.
Lauren came over and helped me individually, teaching me a proper Muay Thai stance and basic punch and kick fundamentals. In contrast to my jiu jitsu experience all those years ago, she was extremely cognisant of it being my first ever class and it was much appreciated. She walked the fine line of being helpful without alienating me in front of the rest of the class lol.
We then paired up, one person holding pads and the other throwing combos that Lauren had just taught us. I felt like Rodtang or Charles Oliviera hitting clean combos on those pads. It was so much fun. My boss was lowkey BLASTING me with kicks though ahahaha she has some power on those. I couldn't imagine taking a head kick. It's honestly like a baseball bat coming at you.
One thing I didn't take into consideration was the class is barefoot and I have severe hyperhidrosis of the feet -- I'm sorry I know it's nasty, but it's me. I was essentially trying to throw kicks on a slip n slide due to my sweaty feet, as I just couldn't get a clean base. I'm really shy (sad face) so I felt terrible to be sweating like that on the mats haha. But, in contrast to some of these other reviews, they cleaned the mats thoroughly right after the class wrapped up.
After class in the menβs locker room, there was a super nice older gentleman who was talking my ear off about the sport, tips and tricks, how long heβd been doing it, etc. After saying goodbye and asking his name he said βThey call me Action Jackson, but you can just call me Actionβ β¦ I thought I was being punked ahahaha I really felt like I was in a Rocky movie after that exchange.
All in all, I would 100% be a regular here if it weren't for hyperhidrosis... hyperhidrosis stays dubbing me smh.

Blaw blaw blaw , all these fake 5 star reviews. My son and I came to train here for part of our camp, and some young 20 year old told us it would be $50 to use the gym. I explained to him my kid was signed to Mayweather promotions and needed a place to train well we were in New York. I own a boxing gym in Oakland Ca there is an unwritten rule that we charge $10 or most of the Time let a fellow fighter especially a pro prospect in for free, take a few pics brag about them coming in and call it a day! Instead they tried to charge me $50 too saying coaches and fighters both have to pay. I said ill just sit n watch then , they replied thats coaching. Due to time constraints i just payed the $50 so my boy could train and get his reps. We went to Gleasons a day later and were treated with much more respect and bought teeshirts as a way of showing our gratitude which is what we would have done at Church st. This gym looks real, but its not!!!! Dont waste your time training here theres no sparring n the staff have 0 people skills

I was visiting from Chicago and enjoy checking out gyms that offer Muay Thai classes as I've been training for three years. Hands down one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was treated with more respect here than in my "home gym" in Chicago! Felt like family right away. Tried calling other gyms in the area before I found this one and they were way too bougie and unwelcoming on the phone. If you want a serious workout and want to meet awesome people, check this place out! I'll be back :)

This place is everything a gym should be. Although I left NYC two years ago, I spent a significant amount of time at Church St. during my 5 years there and it became a second home for me. People from all over the world, with diverse experiences, careers, etc., all came together with a single goal of making each other better. Jayo, Kalief, Nico, etc. have become brothers to me. Thanks to everyone who helps make this place the best gym in the country.

The gym is fantastic. I went to 15-20 classes and I was pushed to the limit each one. The instructors are all professionals with great personalities. The classes are usually small enough so that the instructor can walk around and give individual criticism for each student. I always felt great after the class and always looked forward to it. I'd recommend the gym to anyone.

Boxing- all levels with Maurice! Absolutely loved this class, it was my first time at the gym and a great first class, I really learned so much. It was the perfect mixture of conditioning, mitt work, heavy bag technique, defense, and footwork, all within an hour. I appreciated his pointers and coaching throughout. The gym felt like a safe space to make mistakes and learn etc, which Iβve been seeking out in other gyms. I will definitely be back!

Great staff, a really friendly environment, and good equipment. CSBG has a real gritty feel to it, which I love. My only critique is that a lot of the workouts are heavy on generic cardio - burpees, jumping jacks, planks, etc - whereas I could use more intensive instruction on boxing techniques. I can recommend this gym with confidence.
