I started working with Dan last Thanksgiving and I can say that he has helped me change my life. He is extremely knowledgeable and well read on multiple facets of exercise physiology. His personal attention, patience and dedication to my journey is exactly what I need to make long term, sustainable and healthy lifestyle choices. Dan is professional and personable with a good heart and a sense of humor to match. As far as cleanliness and sanitation go, Cosmic Fitness is simply always spotless. I can’t give 6 stars or I certainly would!!!

One of my goals this past year was to find a sustainable fitness program I could commit to and grow, long term. I hadn’t been to a gym or had any personal training in ten years. At 56, having had several knee surgeries and ultimately a knee replacement due to an accident, I knew I needed to find someone who could challenge me but also understand and work with my limitations. A tall order, for sure. So I did quite a bit of research and learned much about what’s available in our area. There are many trainers who will charge hundreds — even thousands — of dollars and offer all sorts of incentives and promises, but after talking with a couple of them, and asking lots of questions, I was pretty discouraged. In fact, one or two of them truly seemed more interested in collecting fees than they were about my goals.
Then I called Dan and he set up an in-person interview that same week. In-person! Not on the phone, and not by email or text. And honestly, at that point, it was still a little intimidating for me to walk into a gym and speak with a trainer given my limitations and long absence from the fitness space. But Dan couldn’t have been nicer! A quintessential professional, he’s built a space and fosters an environment that is clean, accessible, friendly, safe, and client-focused. I signed on immediately, and haven’t looked back.
Twice weekly, Dan challenges me and ensures that I’m getting the right balance of stretching and exercise and I can absolutely feel the progress in my core and body since I started. Even more important, he makes it easy to commit and show up consistently, something I struggled with in the past. He’s well above and beyond the trainers I was previously assigned — or paid for — with gym memberships: deeply knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition, and training in the truest sense of the word. He genuinely cares about his clients and helping them achieve their goals. Just one of many examples: he continues to wear a mask, operates air purifiers, and sanitizes after each visit in the gym for his clients’ protection, though he is no longer required to do so. And his fees are more than reasonable given the industry. My only regret is that I didn’t call him sooner.

I started doing virtual training with Dan during the pandemic after he came highly recommended by family members. I was in dire need of motivation to get exercising back into my schedule, something I don't especially enjoy the way some do, and he was able to help with that. Dan truly cares about the well-being of his clients and goes above and beyond, checking in and making suggestions on all aspects of health. Even without having ever met in person, I feel he knows me well. I have continued our sessions even though I now feel safe going to a gym maskless, because I know I won't "quit" when working with Dan.

Dan has been a great trainer for the 6+ years I’ve been seeing him. I had multiple previous knee surgeries and needed a trainer that would understand my limitations but still create a challenging exercise routine that would build strength and flexibility and Dan has delivered. With his help, I’ve been able to continue to play the sports that I’ve been accustomed to and for that, I’m very grateful.

Dan is an amazing trainer. He worked with my crazy schedule (I’m currently a PhD student) and guided me in the right direction to help sustain my energy levels throughout the day by incorporating more water, protein shakes, and nutritional food/snacks, which was an easy modification to my daily routine. Dan also helped me reach my goal to have toned arms/back for my sisters wedding!! Training with Dan has genuinely improved my overall energy levels, health, and fitness.

I have been training with Dan Sheff at Cosmic Fitness for almost two years now. Regular sessions with Dan have become a "keystone habit" that has helped me lose about 25 pounds over that period. We have also worked to address flexibility issues. Dan's sessions are professional and enjoyable. He makes helpful adjustments to the workouts that meet you where you are on a given day. Facilities are well equipped and clean. I heartily endorse Dan Sheff and Cosmic Fitness.

Dan at Cosmic fitness provides A professional and comfortable 1 on 1 environment. His program is not a generic exercise routine or diet. It’s catered to my individual goals and I look forward to our sessions. I plan on being a client for a long time.

Dan has been GREAT working with our 13yr old daughter. While working with Dan over the winter, she has gained 14 pounds of lean muscle through revamping her nutrition plan and also added 3 mph to her fastball. He has helped her prepare for and pass the NYS Education Department's Athletic Placement Process so she can try-out for JV Softball this year. I highly recommend Cosmic Fitness!!!

I have been seeing Dan as a trainer on-and-off for the last few years now. He is an incredible trainer. He isn’t just there to help you exercise, but to make sure all aspects of your life are updated to a healthier, stronger existence. He talks to you about your diet to make sure that you’re getting enough nutrients and enough protein, especially after your workouts. He makes sure that you stretch before, during, and after your workout, in order to be sure that the impact on your body is minimal and that you don’t hurt anything during your workout. He goes over your personal goals and sets up a workout process specific to you. The price is great too! Only around $40 per workout, which is a lot cheaper than the other personal trainers from which I received quotes. It is also great that the training is personal, one-on-one. If you’re self-conscious about your workout, like I am, or you just prefer that specialized focus, then Dan is perfect for you. During the pandemic, the gym is sanitized before and after every single workout, but if you’d prefer, he also does virtual work-outs over the phone/through Google Duo. Trust me, if you’re serious about getting into shape and living a healthier life, Dan is the perfect trainer for you. He will make sure to talk everything through with you, so that you know what specifically you’re exercising, but also why you’re exercising it (its benefits and strengths). Definitely, 5 stars out of 5!

Dan is an outstanding trainer who pays close attention to you as an individual and understands what your body needs in order to reach your goals. His follow up after each session to see how your body is feeling is key -- if I tell him that the shoulder I broke 10 years ago is acting up after a workout, he adds in new stretches to help strengthen those muscles. His clear instruction (we are training over google duo due to COVID) helps me visualize what he is asking of me in order for my body to get the max benefit of the exercise. After just one month, my core has strengthened to the point that I simply stand up when I get off of the couch -- no more pushing up on the arm rest for assistance. I can already see my body changing but its also the confidence I have, knowing that this work is paying off and I'm on my way to healthier lifestyle. Thank you Dan for all that you do and all we'll continue to do moving forward.

Dan's awesome. He really knows his stuff but he's also super professional, and very easy to work with. Always considerate of limitations but pushes you -- I needed someone to hold me accountable and get me back into making working out a habit and he did that and more. The 1-1 atmosphere is great compared to just walking into a gym and relying on yourself to know what to do, or how much. I'd recommend regardless the reason -- weight loss, muscle gain, injury rehab, etc. etc.

I started virtually training with Dan during COVID quarantine and after just four weeks I have already noticed a marked improvement in my flexibility, balance, and posture - all of which were suffering while working from home. I look forward to our virtual sessions and future in-person sessions.

I started coming to Dan towards the end of 2018. I had been with other personal trainers but was not getting the results I wanted. I was in my fifties and was carrying extra weight that i never really had. We started the workout. He talked to me about my food , sleep and other ways to try to lose the weight. I did them all but to avail. Then we started talking thyroid, he gave me some great books and articles to read. I spoke with my doctor at the next appointment, they mostly shrugged it off but agreed to do blood work. Came back low but within the "range". I ended up having to push the doctor plus added a different doctor that seem to understand my issue. End result was they put me on a low dose thyroid med and I also receive bio-identical replacement.
Six months later and I am finally losing weight, my sleep is better than it was. I feel better overall.
When looking for a personal trainer Dan is the one. He takes the time to look at you as a whole person not just what workout is best. Dan tries to fit all the pieces of the puzzle together to give the best result possible. If not for his educating me and also supporting me during this I would have never seen it through. For this alone I am very thankful!
Trust me this is guy you want to help you be the best you can be!

I’ve been working at strengthening my core at Cosmic Fitness for the upcoming ski season. I had lost a lot balance, because of multiple abdominal surgeries. I feel like I’ve come along way in just a few months. My balance has really improved tremendously though gentle, repetitive stretches with additions periodically to acknowledge my increased progress. Today, I awoke with the pain of planter fasciitis in my left foot, earned through walking foolishly at seventy five in flip flops. I called Dan and he walked me through a simple stretching exercise. Then, after 20 minutes of icing, I repeated the exercise and I was able to literally work all day long from 10 o’clock to 6 o’clock in my yard garden, all without pain. Before the stretching, I was in pain just walking across the floor my house. All I did was follow Dan Sheff’s coaching. Wonder why I go to Cosmic Fitness?

I met Daniel on a recent fishing trip - his knowledge and passion about mental and physical fitness struck me as very impressive. So much so that I booked him for a training session at his facility - what a session.

I told Dan that my goal is to increase balance, flexibility, and core strength. He identified what my problem areas are and began taking me through a routine.

I walked out of there incredibly relax. I’m looking forward to my next visit. At some point,

Initiating a strength training program with Dan was a great choice for me. Dan has been very conscientious of my previous injuries (repaired ACLs on both knees) while helping me maintain my active lifestyle and desire to continue playing sports. He provides a lot of variety in the workouts while always including an emphasis on core strength and flexibility.

I've been training with Dan for 10 years. In those years he has kept me limber and strong. I have had a number of sports injuries over the years and Dan has helped me recover. I look forward to training with him because he always figures out how to make the pain go away. In my opinion he is better than a Phyical therapist, better than a chiropractor, and better than a massage therapist. Plus, he is super smart and our conversations are always interesting.

I have had a couple of trainers over the years, but none so experienced and helpful as Dan. I suffered from a small ligament tear on my shoulder and Dan was able to work around that while provide certain stretches to heal the injury. Moreover, Dan gives the mindset needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle with his blog posts and personalized nutritional advice. The care and effort Dan puts into every session truly makes this THE place to join in WNY.

A five star rating doesn't even begin to describe the quality of training you will get with joining Cosmic Fitness. As a member of Cosmic Fitness, I not only gained knowledge in how to better my health physically, but I learned much about nutrition as well. Upon starting my training with Daniel Scheff, I was already in very good shape, as I am a dance major and spend several hours a day in the studio. With that being said, my goals with joining Cosmic Fitness were to gain muscle definition and better my nutritional profile, and I was able to achieve just that. Dan will guide you step by step through your journey to health both inside and outside of the gym, and if you stick to what he advises, you will start feeling and seeing a change in no time at all! I would strongly advise anyone considering to join this gym to stop his or her questioning and 'just do it' like Nike tells us all to do!

P.S. I am 19 years old and already very active, so perhaps my personal situation does not relate to all. However, my mom has also trained with Dan, and she has said that he is the only personal trainer that has ever been able to make her both feel and look different. In other words, no matter what your age or health level is, Cosmic Fitness is the place to join if you want to better your health :)

P.P.S. I am now back at school 3000 miles away from Cosmic Fitness, and Dan is still helping me achieve my goals. I text him almost weekly with questions about my health, and he responds right away with the most informative answers you could ever want. Dan really isn't just a trainer, he's a genius in motivating you to be the best you can be!

I started working with Dan in the summer of 2013 after getting a gift certificate for my birthday. My mother had worked with Dan previously and had so many wonderful things to say about the experience. After some initial hesitation I finally called and the rest is history. Dan does an amazing job of meeting you where you are at in your fitness and health journey and makes sure that he tailors training around your goals. I love that each week is slightly different than the last which prevents you from getting bored. Also, he does a fantastic job of pushing you when you're capable of being pushed and knowing when it is time to have you stop. There have been times when I have come in and I will be getting over a cold or had a bad nights sleep and he has made sure to adjust the training plan to accommodate these issues, which makes a huge difference. So for those people who are reading the reviews to find a trainer...call Dan!

I had trained with two other trainers prior to joining Dan at Cosmic Fitness three months ago. Each of my prior trainers had their perks but varying factors facilitated my changing situations.
I spent a year and a half in Cross-Fit training which I loved, and was skeptical that anything other than Cross-Fit was going to be successful. Dan has proved that thought process wrong. What I find amazing is that never before was I trained with attention to anything other than major muscle groups and with Dan EVERY muscle plays an important part of the workout including stretching before, during and after. I never gave much thought to stretching, nor did my previous trainers, and my first thought was "gee, I am paying to work out and the clock ticks as we do stretching and I am losing valuable muscle time" !! I have since realized a successful workout MUST include stretching, working major AND minor muscle groups, cardio, and of course good nutrition. If any one of these factors are left out the workout is incomplete. When you are lifting Dan is always doing a "quality control" check; "How do you feel? Any pain?" etc. and keeps your "proper form" ALWAYS in order.
As far as nutrition, it is fun !!! The word "diet" has no place in regards to nutrition. All I needed to do was put thought into my choices and I find myself eating what I want and for the most part feel satisfied. ( Chocolate and Pizza DO slip in every once in a while ) My snacks are healthy and you would be surprised how much food is out there that is satisfying , nutritious and simply fun. I have lost 7 pounds to date and I wasn't trying. :-) Dan is always there to help you nutritionally stay on track as well.
You receive important "blogs" from Dan relating to every aspect that is associated with working out; nutrition, do's and don'ts, how to deal with a party/holiday meal, myths/facts on health, etc. and asked for your feedback. You also receive twice daily reminders via text to say "time for protein and/or h2o", and sometimes you are asked to reply with how much you have had thus far. Dan's reply usually will say "good job, or try to add a bit more" . So your workout never ends. With that being said you are invited to use the cardio room at anytime outside of your scheduled appointment.
What is the "icing on the cake" for me is the fact that Dan is very supportive of your goals. You don't get laughed at, told you are too old to reach that goal or that the goal is impossible. Instead he embraces your goal as if it were his own and he makes it happen to the best of your realistic ability. What do I mean by realistic?? Genetics, age, health and nutrition all are integral parts in achieving and realizing your goals. While we may not get the bi-ceps of that gym body builder that we want, or the quads of another, we DO get those that are uniquely ours, and believe it or not, another person may see you and say, "wow, wish I had those bi-ceps or look at those quad!" !! What more can we ask for??
My only regret thus far is the fact that finances keep me from seeing Dan on a daily basis.
Thank you Dan and to the perspective clients, you will not find this type of trainer/gym ANYWHERE else so stop looking and set up your initial consult !!!

I chose Dan and Cosmic Fitness after doing quite a bit of research. It's been an excellent decision. When you are working out with Dan, you know that his complete focus is on helping you obtain your goals. In my case, I am working to get stronger, more flexible and tone up muscles after years away from the gym. I am just a few months into the process and already feel positive changes. I recommend Dan for his professionalism, knowledge about fitness, and his approachable style.

I started working with Dan about a year ago. An old friend and serious competitive runner turned serious competitive kayaker referred me. My goals included improvements in fitness to enhance my efforts in skiing and biking. Skiing requires an overall strength and agility, biking is more straight forward strength to weight. It is easy to measure success on a bike, can you get up that hill, how fast, how do you feel right after climbing. Also, can you keep up or surpass your biking buddies. Skiing is very technique oriented and does not lend itself to as easy a measure.

What I hoped to get from a trainer was a very individualized program to match my goals, and to synch them to my day to day activities. I wanted the work we do to enhance my very active outdoor life, but also to not interfere when I wanted to be able to put out high effort. Dan has been terrific at this, always dialing in each workout to compliment my other activities. If my legs were tired from biking, we focus on core and upper body. When biking is less, we hit whole body drills that are anaerobic and reach upper body, core, legs and heart and lungs. During ski season we do a lot of that as downhill skiing (other than moguls) is often not very aerobic.

This year I started out slower and heavier and decided I had to leap ahead in fitness, lose weight but also gain strength. No easy trick. With Dan's help I dialed in and found the right amount's of carbs (simple occasionally and mostly complex), and the use some supplements, like slow burning proteins before bed.

I am down 20lbs, and the strongest I've ever been on the bike. I climb hills I never before could complete, and the ones I could struggle up are now not a struggle. I can think about how fast not IF. We have already discussed the transition periods where biking will taper and our prep for ski season. Having someone I can talk to week in and out to "play with the dials" has been critical, and at least on the bike, I've hit the goals I've had. Which means its time to set the bar higher and have new goals.

Cannot say enough good things about working with Daniel Sheff at Cosmic Fitness. The #1 reason I chose this facility was the extra motivation with daily text & e-mail reminders about reaching my goals. The personal 1-on-1 atmosphere is also very conducive to achieving goals. There is no fight for machines, time, space. Daniel worked with what I needed and within any constraints I had. He also worked with any scheduling restrictions I threw at him. Never left a session without feeling better about myself & of course all sweaty!!!

About a year ago I developed an injury and my doctor referred me to a personal trainer for strength training. After a few months, though very happy with my other trainer and reluctant to switch, I wanted to find someone in a more convenient location. I ran across Dan Sheff completely by accident and have been working with him for about four months.

Dan’s workouts are varied and challenging, and individually tailored to meet my both short and long-term goals. Because of my history, I am as interested in injury prevention as in performance training. Dan is always adamant about proper form. Before increasing the difficultly of a given exercise, he always makes sure that I haven't aggravated my injury, and that I am not developing any new ones. Additionally, he is very happy to answer questions about why a particular exercise is beneficial, what specific muscles are being targeted, and how it fits into the long-term plan.

He often sends me links to articles that I may find helpful or interesting, and he put me in contact with another of his clients who has turned out to be an excellent workout partner.

He provides good counsel on nutrition, and has given me many helpful suggestions on healthy cooking and eating that work with my lifestyle. He has suggestions for meals when you only have three minutes eat, as well as which oils to marinade and/or cook with when you have the time to prepare a special meal.

After working with Dan for a few months, I feel healthier and stronger. Also, in a recent speed workout, I was able to run 15 seconds faster per mile than I had ever run before. I know that Dan's workouts and advice have played a big part in my improvement, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone who wants to perform and feel their best.

I have lost track of how many years I have been seeing Dan as a personal trainer. If anyone had told me in my 30s that I would be consistent with fitness for this long I would have laughed. Since my youth I have hated it. But somehow this venue from my first day, over ten years ago, to my years now with Dan, (despite some occasional back siding) I have been there on a regular basis. I have grown to love working out, because its been made clear that without it I am more stressed, and have more weight both mentally and physically to carry. I am not the kind of person to work out on my own without encouragement and that is what Dan has done. I have been inspired to work out at home as well as my weekly appointments with Dan. Dan's gift of knowledge of health and fitness is nicely balanced with his consistent, persuasive and personal attention to each client. This is not a cookie cutter workout trainer. He has styled all of our training to our needs and he is well worth the investment.

Daniel approaches health and wellness holisticly. Dan takes into account your physical, mental and social state as it plays a part in achieving your fitness goals, this is an important attribute to have in a personal trainer.

For a figure competitor like myself it was important to work with a trainer who not only placed a high value on my workouts in the gym but takes into consideration my lifestyle outside of the gym and modifies my nutrition and workouts accordingly. The personal accountability that I receive after I leave the gym, via text messages and phone calls, to stay on course with my nutrition is invaluable as it is necessary for someone with a demanding career.

Daniel is very knowledgeable but whats equally impressive is his willingness to continually learn more, share the information and put it into practice.

I highly recommend Dan if you are seeking accountability, flexibility and expertise in attaining your health and fitness goals."

I started with Dan about two years ago. Within a few months I gained muscle and lost 10 pounds. He also helped me train for my wedding. My dress was initially too small, and by the time of the wedding it was big on me and needed to be taken in. Going to Dan is totally worth it because it keeps me accountable. He discusses an all-around fitness strategy that helps me throughout the week with my nutrition and the workouts I do on my own. If you take the first step of calling him and you are willing to put in the work, you will see results.
