We are Brooklynโs first CrossFit affiliate, and an internationally consulted gym for our progressive and professional business practices. CFSBK had humble beginnings starting outside in a playground in Carroll Gardens back in 2007, but each year, we continue to grow organically, maintaining our status as the largest affiliate in the borough and one of the most well established in New York City. We pride ourselves on our professional coaching, exceptional facilities, and above allโour fun, inclusive, and supportive training environment.

This place has been a third home. Every class, one that brings me joy and itโs not because the workouts leave me breathless. The programming is fire, the cycles are made to push you, and see you grow as an athlete. This community that David has created has given me more back than I ever could have asked in a gym. If you ever get the chance to drop in, never doubt it. Large facility, great classic gym vibes, awesome dogs, better staff, and the highlight, the memories. Donโt be discouraged by the skull and crossbones, even if thatโs the Jolly Roger , that pirate ship is sailing for fitness and community!

Itโs hard to overstate how big of an impact CrossFit, and specifically this gym/box, have had on my life. Two years ago, I had heard of CrossFit but had no idea what it was, and I was generally out of shape. The thought of getting back into a regular fitness regimen seemed dauntingโฆ and honestly something I was not looking forward to. Fast forward to today, Iโm getting into the best shape Iโve been in in over a decade and, crucially, I now look forward to working out here at CFSBK. So, if youโre looking to get in shape, try a new fitness methodology, or for a new CrossFit homeโฆ come here. It might just change your life the way it did mine.

The Mythic Strength program at CFSB with Coach Cara is on another level. This strongman/strongwoman training program isnโt just about lifting heavy, itโs about unlocking your potential and Cara makes the whole experience feel absolutely magical. What blew me away the most is how much one on one attention she gives. She really sees your strengths, builds on them, and truly wants you to grow.
The summer seminar was unreal. I learned so much, got stronger, and connected with a group of amazing people who brought so much positivity and support. The energy Cara brings is unmatched and her passion is contagious. If you want to push your limits, have fun, and be part of a community that has your back, this is it.

I joined Coach Cara Claymore's Mythic Strength course full of excitement and also a bit nervous about what I could accomplish. After spending a couple of years in a small community gym I was ready to branch out a bit. At 45 years old I'd only been on my strength journey for about 2 years but I had fallen in love with the community and what building strength can unlock - not just in the gym but in life overall. I had an incredible time learning more about Strongman and Strongwoman training and pushing my limits with folks that have become good friends in a more focused setting. I also had some trepidation about back pain I was experiencing prior to the course and lo and behold, the back pain began to resolved itself! I believe this was due to the consistent training and expert guidance in form and movement from Coach Cara. Can't recommend CrossFit South Brooklyn and Cara's coaching enough!

This is my dream gym. I had dropped in from time to time over several years and recently joined full time after moving to the area. It really stands out in three areas: 1) The coaches are really expert and can unlock progress in a lift or movement with a few words. They're seriously on another level. 2) The space is so generous, and the equipment is abundant. It's all just thought through really well and reflects years of refining what a crossfit environment should be. 3) The community is incredibly vibrant and dedicated. They strike a rare balance of inspiring with their abilities and commitment while also being accepting. Can't recommend highly enough.

Last Monday I came into the noon class and boy did I not want to be there. The weekend had been mentally and physically exhausting, and the last thing I wanted to do was throw heavy things around. Then Cara walked in with what can only be described as "Cara energy". I immediately smiled and said to myself " this is going to be a great class." This is CFSBK in a microcosm. I could write paragraphs if not pages about how special this gym is and the incredible community that have built. Every coach has such a different personality and coaching style, but they all share one very important thing. They all care. They care that you are reaching your goals. They care that you are lifting safely. I feel like I've been searching for this gym for years and I'm so glad I finally found it.

If you have the opportunity to be a part of this Fitness community, sign up immediately! I joined wanting to find community and I feel so comfortable in this space! David, the owner, is kind, open and so supportive! All of the coaches are rooting for your success! And this may or may not matter to some people, but the Gym is very inclusive โ there are all types of bodies, women, respect to the LGBTQIA plus community, mothers, elderly, pets! Everything. Five stars! David has created something really special!

I've been a member of CFSBK for 4 years - the coaching and community are, hands-down, the best I've experienced of any gym I've been to in my 8 years of doing CrossFit. The staff is dedicated, passionate, knowledgeable, and supportive in helping people on all different fitness journeys with their specific needs and goals in the gym. I've made some of my closest friends at CFSBK - the atmosphere is warm and welcoming!

Iโm a 7 year member at CFSBK and cannot say enough good things about this gym. David O and his staff created an inclusive welcoming and supportive community that makes this gym special. Every coach is invested in your safety, success and growth as an athlete. Coaches donโt sit on their phones and keep time. Each coach makes sure to interact with every member every class with lifting or skills cues. Every coach gets to know regular attendees so well they can ask about injuries or other reasons to substitute or modify the workout. Coaches who know youโve struggled with a skill or lift will take care to watch your workout to support your success.
I knew Iโd found my place and my people the first day I walked in. CFSBK is a special community that lifts people up. David does not tolerate any hint of exclusivity. Heโs a model for how a box should look and run.
Coach Erick talking me through a 180 lb back squat PR and a 65 lb snatch PR during the Open. Could not have done it without him. The absolute best.

Iโve been a member at this gym for over a decade.
I love this place, and I love it because of the community.
And what is this community comprised of? Thoughtful, quality programming; thoughtful, quality coaching; thoughtful, quality event planning and execution; steadfast devotion to facility maintenance and improvement; and thoughtful, quality folks who also partake in the fun and challenging quest to get better a little bit every day.
Thank you CFSBK!

I was a member at CFSBK for 8 years and there is literally not a single CrossFit gym that I have been to in the US or abroad that can compare. The coaches are top notch, attentive, and give great cues. The programming cycles allow members to build skills and get strong, and also have good variability to keep you engaged. The space itself is very well maintained, HUGE, and receives regular cleaning several times a week. All machines and barbells are updated, organized, and kept in top form at pretty much all times.
I donโt know what the deal is with some random one star reviews but this place is special. The community is peak and that comes from exceptional stewardship from the owner and staff. Literally this place is a masterclass in how CrossFit gyms should be run.

Probably the best gym I have been to. From the owner and everyone involved. The coaches are professional and so welcoming to the members and drop ins.
The gym is cleaned daily, from the floors, to the rigs and equipment. I always recommend this gym. If I ever drop into another gym outside of CFSBK, I always mention my gym and the owner David. I typically find that people already know of David, the staff and the gym. And they also speak as highly.
10/10 recommend :)

Since my very first time at CrossFit South Brooklyn โ back in June 2014, I've been grateful to find this place. The experience as a whole and the small details that make this place one of the greatest gyms in the world.
My first classes were with Mr. and Mrs. Fox and David Osorio. The question of the day, the order, the great programming, the neat execution of the class are some of the aspects I really enjoyed. However it falls short next to the location, culture and community that CFSBK has.
It has been developed for years. They have answers for pretty much everything. I remember one morning I was lifting next to one of the coaches โ super nice dude โ and I mentioned I enjoy a good craft beer and he pointed me to a place in the neighbourhood, so yeah, they have answers for everything.
The Skull [Jolly Roger], Yoda, the 2013 Open memorabilia and all the flags. Everyone is welcome at CFSBK. I met some great New Yorkers while training there every chance Iโve had while traveling. From photographers to chefs. The most awesome part is โ the staff remains [almost] the same, and onm every trip iโve seen David there.
CFSBK is and will always be one of my favourite spots to train, they inspired me to open my own box.
If you like to train, if you like great culture, a good time and nice people, this is your place. Regardless of your level. You can be starting your lifting / Crossfit era, or you can be elite athlete, this is a place where we all can thrive and i believe that's actually what they strive for. For you to thrive regardless of your level.
Go, fall in love, train hard, make friends, buy merch and then tell the story. Come back as much as you like, their doors are always open. Literally โ they hardly ever close.
To the front desk lady back in 2014 that waited for me to get ready after a quick sesh because I was coming from a redeye flight and on my way to Vermont for an ultra-marathon: Thank you! You were the nicest โ even took my picture outside the box. This memory sits on top of all the others at CFSBK.
Hope I get to come back soon.
Stay well!!!

Women, please read before joining!
I have been a member at this gym for 6.5 years, and even encouraged my mother to join. At $250+/month, thatโs $20k+. A male coach in his 40s/50s started engaging in inappropriate and uncomfortable interactions when I was 26. During this time, I volunteered at a high school, where I was often mistaken for someone much younger. He made repeated, unwelcome advances, followed me around the gym, and when I showed no interest, he started bullying meโinitially subtle, but escalating over time. Several other staff members seemed to support his actions, and even encouraged his behavior.
He involved other coaches and women in the gym, fostering an environment where I was isolated and treated poorly for not reciprocating his attention. I observed other women, ages 25-32, experience similar actions over the yearsโmost of them quietly left the gym. I saw him follow a woman out of the gym, acting inappropriately, as well as staring at female clients in a way that made them visibly uncomfortable. He also looked at me in a way that made me feel deeply disrespected. After getting involved with various female members and coaches, those women became hostile and aggressive toward me. One of them physically confronted me with a shoulder check.
I made a formal, written report to the owner, documenting his actions over the past 3 years. I even witnessed the owner observing the coach's behavior and issuing a mild warning. Despite this, no meaningful actions were taken.
After raising my concerns, I faced retaliation, passive-aggressive behavior from staff, and attempts to discredit my experience. The owner wrote to me, saying, "As you requested previously, I did not speak with [the male coach or another female coach] about what you said, and given the lack of clear evidence, I felt it was appropriate to respect that boundary." This response seems to dismiss the fact that such behavior often lacks visible evidence, as it is usually covert or private in nature.
Long story short: The owner continues to support someone engaging in inappropriate and predatory conduct over a long-term, loyal member. The gym culture allows staff to intimidate and treat clients poorly. This isnโt about dramaโthis is about the owner's choice to turn a blind eye to bullying and harassment while neglecting the safety of female members. If you are a woman under 35, be prepared to either accept unwanted attention from this older male coach or face mistreatment and eventually being driven out of the gym!

Iโve been a part of this gym for nearly 8 years. I donโt even do CrossFit but I train here during open gym. The facility is HUGE, well maintained and I never have to wait to use equipment (granted I train during off peak hours but even when I havenโt itโs not been an issue.) During the better part of a decade Iโve been here Iโve seen the same faces coaching and taking classes; thereโs clearly little turnover which I think says a lot about how the business is run. Everyone is super friendly and respectful. I could do my non-CF workouts at any gym, but here I feel safe and left alone (I tend to keep to myself when I train.) CFSBK is an institution in the fitness world for good reason.

I was a drop in at this gym last September and I was just visiting to check it out as I had recently moved to the city and was shopping for a new home gym. I liked it fine enough but one of the male coaches was a little... inappropriate. He hovered around quite a bit and kept trying to insert himself in any space I would occupy. He followed me around several times and never really actually spoke or interacted with me verbally but ogled me the entire time. I attempted to ignore him but the behavior made me feel increasingly unsafe. I moved to a different section of the gym and he would be RIGHT THERE off to the side but always nearby. It gave me the creeps and I just never went back. Anyway, I think his name was Erick and honestly his behavior really needs to be dealt with.

Facility is really in poor condition. Cardio bikes and rowers are busted and not maintained. Weights need replacement.
Instructors are rude. One woman in particular quite arrogant - and literally laughed at a couple of us with a question during a session.
Owner abrasive and unwelcoming.

First of all they are very professional and are great at training beginners ( you have 3 beginners sessions to learn the moves before you're allowed to join classes ) and during the workouts they are very helpful and supportive. Over all the branch is well run and executed and the workouts are challenging but doable for all stages. I look forward to continuing please G-d and I definitely recommend cfsbk:))

Iโve been coming here for the better part of a year. Itโs a good gym when it comes to quality of classes and instructors. Most people here are long term users who come . They are all about inclusions and openness...except when it comes to their money. I was on auto renew and realized I needed to downgrade my plan after the cut off and I asked them to convert the prorated balance to a lower tier. Didnโt expect such a resounding NO. I wasted a month of a membership I didnโt get the use out of because of their intransigence.
I still go there because there is no other comparison to the extent of programming they have. As soon as I find somewhere else, Iโm changing though.

I've been going to CFSBK for over a year.
1. It's really really safe. The trainers and environment is awesome. People rarely get hurt. In my experience, people get injured more often at bigger gyms just doing crazy things on their own. When you sign up you'll go through a series of introduction/fundamental classes and then join the group classes after.
2. Everyone isn't insanely fit/ripped. Some are but a lot are working hard to get there, but everyone is very respectful of each other. In fact, the community aspect of CFSBK is what makes working out and eating a little cleaner fun.
3. The trainers are awesome because they are smart and really care about each member.
4. It's not expensive. I have heard a lot of people tell me that going to a CrossFit gym is expensive but they are comparing it against a globo gym membership they never use. It's like saying a $5 dollar plate of empty food is cheaper than a $15 meal that's delicious.
5. You will most likely be in the best shape of your life if you show up 3-5 times a week for 3 months and make the nutrition changes the trainers recommend. All you have to do is show up, everything else is taken care of. You'll get a great warm up that leads into solid strength and conditioning/
6. You're going to have fun and make some cool friends.
