Great gym! Large variety of equipment. Classes are of good quality and variety, but you generally must register early. I really like the cycling classes.
The facilities are great. The gym, locker rooms, and restrooms are clean. There is recovery equipment, such as massage chairs and WAVE beds. Those are great to use and in good condition.
I have taken personal training here. I gained a lot of strength and mobility quickly and the personal trainer was quite helpful.
I also was easily able to cancel the membership.

I’m not a gym-loving person; in fact, I spent a long time working out at home. Later, I wanted to build a bit more muscle mass, so I started going to different gyms, but I never felt focused in any of them. I have to admit that this gym is really good and it’s the best in the city. It’s always very clean, and the staff—from the front desk to the trainers—are extremely friendly. The environment is very pleasant because the people who come to train here are very respectful; everyone is focused on their own workout, and people respect your space.
I’m very happy to have joined this gym, and when I can’t train at this location, I go to another one of their branches and the atmosphere is almost the same.

We came with a day pass and were really impressed by the size of the space, range of equipment, multiple places to do floor work (with mats and foam rollers and steps and rails), etc. We came on a Sunday around 11a and didn't have to wait to use any equipment even though it was fairly busy.

Ibrahim is a trainer who truly stands out. He’s knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely cares about his clients. His passion for fitness is contagious — every session is not only motivating and well thought out, but also enjoyable. He pays great attention to techniques and always ready to guide you with patience and positivity. Training with him has made going to the gym much easier for me — something that has always been a challenge.
I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer who combines professionalism, warmth, and genuine inspiration.

The manager is very responsive at this branch which I really appreciate. I just wish there was a pool at one of the branches. I also wish it stayed open until 11 pm like the other branches -

I have attempted several times to reach the manager, Alexis, at this gym. I no longer live in the area so must rely on email to cancel my membership. I have emailed Alexis 3 times in the past 3 months with no response back and continue to receive charges on my credit card for monthly payments. This complaint will be escalated until I reach someone who can assist me.

I’ve been going to the gym for 4 years. The man at the front desk today was very rude when I asked about the possibility of leaving my small carry on behind the desk. I understand if it’s company policy that you can’t, but he didn’t even look at me and said very sharply “no, everything must fit in a locker.” How are these employees not taught basic kindness to paying members. All he needed to say was - I’m sorry unfortunately it’s company policy that we can’t do that, but if it fits in a locker it’s completely fine.
It’s so simple to be kind.

Location refuses to commit to three day pass advertised by Crunch. Was practically almost forced signing up for a plan that was more expensive than what is advertised. Was very polite and got attitude because I express interest in exploring my options. Left after 40 minutes, the equipment is worn out.

One of the best gyms I've been to in the city. There are at least 6+ power racks/squat racks/dead lift platforms and 2 leg extension machines with 4+ adjustable benches. They also have a few attack treadmills.
The gym is kept clean and rarely did I run into people hogging machines and the community was willing to work in if needed.

Gym is fine but overpriced - bad hours for people working NYC ‘professional’ hours, amenities are okay, sauna was always an issue, then they fixed it but it closes even earlier than the gym does. Despite being large somehow the machines I want to use are always in use. Classes are solid but must upgrade membership for a lot of them. Recovery station room is the same deal (only if you upgrade) and the theraguns for the pleebs are all busted. If you work late hours and expect top tier amenities, probably not the best gym for you.

This is a great gym. It's always busy, which helps create energetic environment, but it never feels crowded because it has so many options and space available for whatever workout you want to do. Cleanliness is excellent, and the staff is friendly and helpful. And Rachelle (I hope that I've spelled that name correctly) deserves recognition because she does a great job of making me feel welcome each time that I check in.
Update: Since I wrote the previous review, Crunch 59th has finished renovations, which includes the addition of a recovery lounge. Massage chairs, water massage, tables, and red light therapy. It is a great addition to the gym, and can serve as a reward for making it to the gym for a workout!

Frequently not open at the hours they're supposed to be.
Currently standing outside the gym, 15 minutes after it was supposed to open. Doors are locked, lights are off, and phone goes straight to voicemail. (Lots of other members standing here waiting to get in.)
They just raised the monthly price again too.
*EDIT*: gave up and went home, 30 minutes after scheduled opening. Most of the 20+ people waiting outside did the same.
*EDIT2*: yes, I did email crunch based on their comment below. Got a generic response with zero real information nor solutions.
*EDIT3*: same problem persisting for years. Happened again today at the 66th street location. Door locked and lights off, a full 90+ minutes after the supposed opening time.

After getting a guest pass, the membership manager (short guy with a beard) refused to honor it even though the front desk yesterday said it would be okay. The membership manager did not honor the three day guest pass **as advertised** but would rather feed his hungry ego. Avoid any interactions with this manager as I am sure he is single-handedly making Crunch lose profit. The rest of the staff are quite friendly.

I appreciate Crunch reaching out to me to try to make it right (Even though I never followed up with them). However, since the complaint from me and others they recently invested and rebuilt the entire Sauna from scratch! From 1-5 stars. Thanks for listening to us
Old Review:
Still cockroaches in the mens sauna. Complained about it to the front desk and they said “nobody has ever said anything about it.” Either they don’t read the other reviews (Jay posted videos of it 2 months ago) or they don’t care to do anything about it

Would give less than a star if I could. Signed up —> full contract in place —> received no warning before a $20/month price increase —> emailed in 5 different times with 5 different people who could not track down any communication about the increase charges or provide any further information —-> got nowhere —-> membership randomly cancelled.
Zero business acumen or customer service qualities from any of the staff.

This was hands down the worst gym experience I’ve had in NYC. My friend—who’s a top-tier Crunch member in Florida—invited me to work out with her using her guest pass. When we arrived, we were told she had to pay $10 and I had to pay $35 because Manhattan locations are “signature level.” Fine. But then AFTER we paid we were told we couldn’t access the very amenities we came for—no cold plunge, hydro massage, or even a tour. Just the sauna. We were never offered any other “level” to pay so I’m not sure how much it is to even access that.
The locker room was under active construction—literally, tools and debris everywhere, garbage bags hanging from walls, Q-tips on the floor. The sauna was also under construction so we couldn’t even use that! The showers were directly next to this, which felt both unsafe and unsanitary. There were also no sanitation wipes for machines, no locks available for lockers (you’re expected to buy one), and the whole place felt like a cramped Blink Fitness—not a premium experience.
The final straw? There were male construction workers in the women’s locker room, next to the showers. I didn’t even feel safe changing clothes, let alone showering. When I went to voice my concerns to the front desk, Nikki was extremely dismissive, defensive, and even ignored me to take a phone call mid-conversation. Absolutely disgraceful. Crunch should be ashamed.

I signed up for a free trial at Crunch 59th St and was genuinely surprised at how big this gym is, 3 floors total which is wild for a gym in the city. One of the employees was super friendly and gave me a tour when I first walked in, and right away I noticed how everything felt really new and clean since the place was recently renovated.
There’s even a little spa-style room with massage chairs and massage guns you can use, which I thought was such a cool touch, though of course that’s only available for members who pay for a membership that includes it. The locker rooms are honestly one of the nicest I’ve seen at any gym, they’re huge, with plenty of bathroom and shower stalls, and I saw staff cleaning pretty regularly which I really appreciated.
The machines all looked pretty new and well-maintained, and I liked how everything was divided up clearly, an area for arms machines, a section for legs, and then a big open space for stretching or yoga. I also love the new mirrors they added, it makes the gym feel way more open and spacious compared to other Crunch locations I’ve been to.
One of my favorite things was a private room tucked away with bikes, perfect if you wanted a quiet space away from the rest of the gym. The staff here are really nice and you can tell they recognize and know a lot of the regulars who come in, which gives the place a more personal, welcoming vibe.
Overall I feel like there’s so much to do here even with a basic membership, and I’m definitely thinking of coming back again.

I used this gym a few times through ClassPass (primarily for SweatShed classes) but I just officially became a Crunch member two days ago. Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time but the guy at the front desk was not particularly welcoming and I was not offered a tour as a new member.
Despite a recent renovation, the bathrooms & locker rooms didn’t seem updated from what I recall pre-pandemic. Cleanliness standards were ok, not great. Personally I think it was a mistake to replace the steam room with a cold plunge: the sauna was packed so I didn’t use it. I didn’t see anyone using the cold plunge while I was there.
Overall fine but not great first impression.

False advertisement. Went here for their celebration of the new renovation and it's not free for guest. You need to be a first timer; you must live or work in the neighborhood, and sign up for a 1 day trial and deal with their sales pitch. If I knew that; I would have signed up for a 7 day trial on their site before wasting my time going here.

This is one of the better Crunch locations in the city. It has good various different equipment so, it’s not only good for leg day, but for all days of your body. The renovations look pretty decent, wish they kinda kept some of the old detailing like the rock climbing wall. Added character to the place personally. Staff is nice aswell, Rudy is a great manager!

This is the 3rd time I’ve seen cockroaches in the shower / sauna.
They spent a ton of money renovating the place, but won’t spend the money on hiring more cleaning staff. The cleaning staff seem overworked and overwhelmed.
They’re misallocating their resources - hope to see improvements.

Update: 11/17/2024:
Deducting 1 star becuase the showers are disgusting! They are moldy and mildewy. And the worst part is when you bring it up to management, the response is "We're redoing them in the Spring". Well the spring is 6 months away and I would really like them thoroughly cleaned before then. Here are some photos! EW!!! The renovations are great, but seriously, invest in some mildew cleaner and a decent scrub brush!
Now that mgmt has finally put some equipment in this gym, the rating goes up. It used to be huge areas of dead space. Now, however, there is equipment everywhere. Too bad they didn’t think and plan where that equipment would go - in order to do a complete leg workout, for example, I have to do half of it down stairs and half upstairs. Apparently it was too much to think about these whines while moving the stuff in.
Unfortunately, a lot of the equipment is down for maintenance. 1/3 of the upright stationary bikes have been out of commission for more than a week.
The cardio equipment is OK. But few of the stations have their own tv screens. The ones that do don’t work. And the overhead screens - all 10 or so of them are only tuned to 2 stations.
The locker rooms are a nightmare. The women’s is so dark, I had to borrow the flashlight on someone’s cell phone when I got out of the shower to see the combination on my lock. Get more lights or stronger bulbs!!
And as for the showers, which are minuscule, get a hot water heater. I’ve never been to a gym in the city where, on 2 occasions, it took >7 mins for the hot water to come up in the shower.
Having only started working out here, let’s see how y’all stand the rest of time.
Sorry lost a star when I realized just now that the back door to the women’s locker room provides a straight view to the cardio floor of any women coming from the showers in towels or less.

Longtime member and have a rather mixed review.
(1) Studio classes are great. Tons of variety and I've found some super engaging instructors that I enjoy. BUT the other gym members interrupt class (and they're not supposed to?) to get equipment from the studio...even though there's an entire two floors of other things to use. Supposedly, you're supposed to grab any in-studio equipment before or after class time, but apparently, the other gym members are rude and just clank and clatter around with no shame. So Crunch, by no means, is a premium experience.
(2) It's gotten crowded. Not necessarily people-wise, but the gym equipment on the floor (i.e. not the studio space) is tightly packed to the point it feels like navigating a maze. They even took out one studio room to make room for more equipment...and it's still too tight. I'm hoping the construction they're doing will help, but I'm not confidant in them. They might just crowd even more equipment tightly into the new space.

Lockers are often opened and belongings stolen.
Management knows about it and instead of reporting it to the police or doing anything about it they conduct an "internal investigation".
Complain about it and they'll explain how it is to be expected and that it is your fault.
I recommend taking anything you don't want stolen into the shower with you.

I recently had a terrible experience at Crunch Gym. I booked a two-hour gym session through ClassPass, but due to subway delays, I arrived 20 minutes late. Despite it not being a class and still having ample time left in my booking, the staff refused to let me in. This level of inflexibility and lack of understanding is unacceptable, especially considering the unpredictable nature of public transportation. It’s disappointing that a gym that prides itself on being accessible and accommodating would be so rigid and unwelcoming. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this location to others.

The gym decided unilaterally to cut my lock because they claimed someone had left an airpod inside my locker.
They claimed that they announced through the speakers giving the locker number but who takes note of their locker number?
Now I have to pay for someone's clumsiness forgetting their airpod there and the gym not even offering compensation for my cut lock.
Besides this, the gym is in great condition so I can't give it a single star. Just be sure to bring a heavy duty lock.

I joined this Crunch location earlier this year and it has been an extremely pleasant experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Everyone is always welcoming and supportive. Especially my personal trainer, Sadiki. I can't emphasize enough just how much of an amazing person he is. From the first day I began speaking with him, I knew that he would be just the kind of motivation and support I needed. He is always polite, caring, gentle and challenges me in all the right ways. Sadiki is the primary reason why I have continued to go back to this gym. He always gives me a boost of motivation to persevere through all the hardships I have faced. He always knows just what to say and I know he always has my back. Words alone can't describe just how much of a genuine and honest human being he is. He made me love going to the gym, because he makes it a fun and enjoyable experience. I have been able to see results within just my first few weeks, because he designed my program tailored to my goals. I can't thank him enough for all that he has done for me both physically and mentally.

I am extremely disappointed at the staff at this Crunch. Very unprofessional and intrusive. Late last year I purchased a package of 5 sessions (for $520) because I felt so pressured and judged by the trainer that sold them to me. I said no thank you, and even after that he kept pressuring me to purchase them, so I felt like I needed to.
After buying them, he was not professional at all. He said he would build out a nutrition plan which never happened; the two sessions I did do were very rushed and he wasn’t telling me if I did anything properly; he never reached out to schedule another one so I would always have to initiate, etc. Then, after two sessions with him, he left the gym without informing me. I never knew he left until I started noticing he never came in.
Fast forward to now, I moved recently and had to cancel my membership, and I still have 3 sessions remaining on my account. Because of their “3 day refund policy,” they refuse to even give me a partial refund. They said I can use them up before my membership ends (in 2 weeks), but I told them I live really far away now and will be traveling. They have taken days to respond to each email I send, I’ve had to constantly follow up, and the fitness manager wasn’t even available to hop on a call to chat.
I feel scammed, and honestly really frustrated that I paid so much money for sessions I did not want in the first place (and never got to finish using).

On top of that, the staff told me that their manager won’t allow!! Like isn’t a managers job to help the client/ customer?
Other places from ClassPass are very friendly and accommodating! But this location is unreasonable- makes it an unpleasant experience. It almost feels like they don’t like people coming via ClassPass. If it’s a problem, why bother listing yourself on ClassPass.

As an Interior Decorator I took on project after project-I looked up and- hello- 15 years had passed. I decided to go back to the gym. I started working out at Crunch thinking it would be easy to get into shape. Wrong!!
Somehow my path crossed with Alex. Alex is a RARE BIRD. He is a personal trainer for Crunch. He very quickly assessed my needs. He understood what I wanted to accomplish. Actually, he organized me and keeps me focused. In order to achieve my goals, we started with simple strengthening of muscle groups and have moved on up to weight training, always keeping a watchful eye on posture and core. Our time together, I've lost about 30 lbs. Whether you are young or older, this is what he does and he is excellent at it!!!

I’ve been to many crunch’s in the city and this location definitely makes the top 3. The gym is clean and spacious. Most importantly Jon is an amazing trainer. He’s attentive and very knowledgeable. He pushes you to achieve your fitness goals. I highly recommend going to Jon.

I love this gym. I honestly think it’s the best Crunch in New York City. Tons of space and amenities. Jon the fitness manager is one of the best. He’s great at what he does, pushes me in the gym to work harder, and teaches me to make my training simple, creative, and effective. Jon is also sociable, someone you can do more than just train with, but also have a chat and see a friend in him. Highly recommend his services.

I joined Crunch back in March and this is the primary location I use (I go to FiDi location when my work schedule dictates). It’s a nice space and the staff is friendly including Rudy, the general manager and Jon, the fitness manager. I trained with Jon when I joined the gym to reacquaint myself with the machines and learn some new things. Jon is kind, professional, and passionate about fitness - all of which he brought to our sessions. The loss of 1 star in the rating is due to the atrocious music that is much too loud, sometimes to the point that my headphone have to be turned all the way up. Lately there has been improvement but there’s room for much more.

Jon is an incredible trainer - he listens, is attentive to your needs and most importantly of all, trains you with the intensity you need for the results you want. The best trainer I’ve worked with and a great guy as well. Highly recommend

Fantastic gym! The staff is very friendly, the facility is very clean and cleaned throughout the day. I have worked with a few trainers over the years, currently working with Jon who maintains a professional demeanor and pushes me to lift my heaviest. He is receptive to incorporating exercises that I enjoy and removing ones that don’t work for me. Overall 10/10!

I just moved into the city 1 month ago and joined this gym. I didn’t know it at the time but I got SO lucky when Jon (one of the trainers) asked me if I wanted to train with him. I have been training for 2 years now, working really hard, but NOTHING compared to his workout. He kicked my BUTT!! He knows the best workouts for my specific goals and has a great mentality and attitude towards life and towards his clients. He is motivating and helps me with my nutrition goals due to his expertise. CHOOSE JON IM TELLING YOU!

I’m a big fan of this Crunch location! I took my free session with Jon - the fitness manager - and I had a wonderful experience. He pushed me very hard, which I was surprised but it was worth it. I ended up signing up for sessions and now I go almost every day! Super thankful for Jon for helping me get over my gym anxiety. Highly recommend!!

I had the worst experience ever and experienced racial discrimination from Jan Di Silva who refused to honor my free trial pass and was immediately hostile towards me. His co-worker Samarah had the gall to call the police on a tired, hard-working woman who just wanted to exercise the stress away. It was one hour before closing time, and she described my appearance in a degrading and derogatory way to the police. I've signed up for a trial pass during the pandemic at a different location and Jan claimed I could only sign up for a trial once in a liftetime, which I know isn't true. It was beyond embarrassing to have been put through the public, prejudicial harrassment for simply wanting to work out but being barred from doing so. Management needs to do a better job training on customer service skills.

I’m all for playing background music at the gym but the music in the lower level is so insanely loud that it literally hurts and after asking the front desk if they could turn it down a little they said that they have no control over it and they need to call “corporate” to turn the volume down. I have even tried noise cancelling headphones and it’s still so loud. I’m trying to go to a gym not a club with a terrible dj. Please be considerate of your paying customers.

The gym is not in good condition: the equipment is dirty, old, and poorly maintained, and the other gym goers do not clean up after themselves. It is constantly crowded and smelly. I used a yoga mat the other day and it reeked of someone else's BO. There are too few squat racks and benches to use this gym for actual weight lifting: they stuff the space with nonsense machines no one uses instead. The two good squat racks are constantly in use and never open. They price gouge because of the location and they do not spend any money updating the equipment or improving the gym: it's a bare bones gym that, were it not in NYC, you'd pay $15/month for.

Last Thursday was my first time taking cycling class there. They didn’t provide clip on shoes for the class. I slip off and sprinkled my ankle during the class due to the shoes not attached to paddle tightly. The class room is 2 floors down in the basement. There was no clear indication on where the elevator is. I slowly half jump half walk with my painful ankle to ask for help. But no one seem to care. No one provide ice. Finally a cleaning guy told me where the elevator but he direct me to only 1 level up. Again, I walked with my painful ankle to the desk and no one care. The guy at the desk did not help, just told me to go back to the elevator but I have no idea which floor is the street level. I took to a hospital level and walk around again with painful ankle. Someone in the hospital there direct me to the street level! I will never go back to this gym again. It can only access by stairs, no proper equipment provide and no help if injured!

One of the better Crunchs in Manhattan. I come for the equipment. This one has almost all the equipment i need for my back day so i will likely make this location my gym for that. When i went it was quiet and not overcrowded and you’re not on top of each other like some other locations. U can get lost inside. No signs but good gym no complaints

Not sure why I’m staying with crunch with an overcrowded floor and trainers that straight up take your weights off the equipment you are using without asking. That or they take up 2 sides of the cable machine for multiple work outs. The chin/dip machine has been broken for months and the steam is now closed indefinitely? Better off forking out the extra $100 for Equinox at this point.

No more steam room?! Cmon Crunch literally the entire point of joining your signature gyms is because they offer extra amenities. I recommend joining planet fitness or blink because it’s the same exact offerings being there’s no amenities here and it will cost you 1/8th the price. I’m a very dissatisfied customer.

Crunch has really disappointed me lately ...the quality of the gym is not the best for the membership that is quiet overpriced. The closing hour is too early while other gyms are fully open with longer hours. Its called "signature" but you have broken tiles in the men's shower not to mention they recently closed the Steam room which was one of the amenities of joining . Better of going to Blink at this point. Save yourself 100$ a month.

Update: I confused this with crunch 54th!
Yes! This location has both steam room and sauna. They also have theragun stations which is really nice.
They also recently added new dead lift platforms. I'd say easily that this is one of the better crunch signatures.
What could be better: Woodway threadmills please! Also, there are certain parts of the gym that feels dated. The steam room has broken tiles and smells bad.
But overall, this is a really great location!

Had a one time, one-on-one session with a trainer named Dan to advise on what I can do to work through a knee injury i had. He was very knowledgable, helpful, and he seemed to genuinely want to help me get what I needed out of our session. Solid dude. If i could do personal training regularly i’d go with him. Thanks Dan.

This gym is dope, many equipment, HUGE and spacious! Shira M is my most favorite class instructor. Patient, always helpful and cheerful, great energy, different exercises every week, love the variety and change. Best of all, a great motivation to work out as i feel an instructor should have at least a good physique and energy, and she has both of it awesome!
I do not recommend Alinne A's classes as her workouts are awful, i can tell that there is not effort put into the workout programming. She has displayed multiple times of impatience, rudeness, nasty attitude, and has once snatched my friends phone from her hand because my friend was recording herself during Alinne's class and Alinne was extremely upset.
And another because they're unscrupulous in the way that they charge a full year's annual maintenance fee in advance of the year itself.
I've been with Blink, Planet fitness, NYSC, and other gyms and none practise what Crunch does.
My friend and I left this gym and joined another.
