My husband and I visited the Dewitt area gym around mid September as we were shopping around for a gym to join. We were both impressed with the low membership and the workout equipment, spa, pool etc it offered to its members.
A male representative of this gym was very accommodating, pleasant and nice. He showed us around, talk to us about the gym and what it additional benefits it offered. We were sold and decided to give it a try. The male representative assisted my husband in entering his information in their system , after which, he gave my husband and I a tour. At the end, we received 2 free passes for us to use on any day we wished.
We visited the Dewitt area gym today - October 20th 2025 about 5am, we had some difficulty entering information in system. We both work jobs and had little time for discussion, we were on a schedule to work out and leave at a specific time. An older lady representative of the gym came to assist but she also decided to interrogate us, she asked us who gave us the cards?, and she insisted to show us around after we told her a few times that we already received a tour. Even after seeing my husband’s name in the system, she still insisted to show us around. We stood there trying to explain our right to be there, it wasn’t until 10 mins later that she let us go to enjoy the gym on the free passes. After this incident, it created an unpleasant experience that we never received at other gyms we visited. We were not too impressed with the gym and vowed to never return back.

I don’t know why after being with this gym for 4 years (never missed a payment) front desk interrupts me in the middle of my workout and insists to walk me to the front desk because “ I’m one day over due “ I politely requested to finish my workout and will give him what he needs, but he declined saying” can’t have you proceed until we update your info” mind you I scanned in my membership when I walked in but he didn’t pay attention as he was fully entertained on his phone, I ended up walking to the front desk to update my info. Eventually, I’ve decided to cancel my membership due to lack of customer service, and they definitely don’t value members who been with them long. Would never step foot in this gym again nor refer or recommend it to anyone.

Great place to workout if you like a gym that has all the equipment, never a wait for a machine in the morning. I also like it because there are enough super fit people that go here to motivate you but also others on different stages of their fitness journey that you can feel comfortable no matter where you are. Many of the regulars become people you say hello to and have a quick 2 second convo before getting back to work. Which is the perfect amount of socializing without getting in the way of what you came to do.

I attempted to cancel my subscription by visiting the gym, only to be informed that cancellations must be done over the phone. However, the provided phone line was constantly busy. Four months later, I received a call stating that my payment had not gone through—unsurprising, as I had intended to cancel my membership months ago.

The customer service experience has been extremely frustrating, with hidden fees that were never disclosed at the time of signup. Canceling a membership I no longer use should not be this difficult.

This has nothing to do with the physical place. The gym is very clean and updated and the guy working behind the desk was very kind. Everyone who was there today was very kind and supportive. I am a single mother who works full time and I don't always have someone who can watch my two kids on weekends. I had called ahead and spoke to the person who was working and asked if it would be alright if my 2 boys came with me, to which he said it was fine with him as long as they weren't being disruptive and were being supervised. I wanted to make sure they were going to be allowed in before i wasted the half hour drive to the gym. I kept them in my sight the entire time and there was even some members who were there that were encouraging them and being very supportive of them. I honestly commend that 2 boys (ages 12 and 9) would rather be bettering themselves than sitting inside on a video game on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I was on the last part of my workout, my boys were using the machine right in front of me, and a gym goer interrupted them and asked where I was, to which they pointed behind them. He then, very loudly and quite rudely, told me that they're not supposed to be there and even yelled it loud enough for the entire gym to hear when he informed the guy who was working. It was quite embarrassing, to both myself and my kids, and definitely was not the way to go about that at all. I can understand if I was misinformed about the policy but it could have been handled way better and didn't have to involve embarrassing us in the middle of the entire gym when not a single person complained. I pay for the premium membership and I have even brought them business, but after all of that today, I am left with a sour taste about this place.

I had a lifetime membership locked in at $5/month that I paid extra for, up front, years ago. When crunch took over they didn’t honor that and didn’t notify me. I let that slide. After a while I decided to cancel my membership. The person on the phone told me it would take 72hrs to cancel the membership. Months later I noticed I’m still being charged. Turns out, they call you in 72hrs to confirm you want to cancel and if you don’t answer…they just keep charging you. In what world does this make sense? I advise everyone to steer clear. I’m not the only one who’s had issues.

Be very careful signing month to month thinking you can just cancel the membership. You will be charged an extra month fee and an annual fee of 70. If you are late for payment u get charged late fee. Gyms decent though. So if you do sign membership just get the year membership and save a little money. But if you are thinking of just checking out make sure to pay for at least two months and do it right away to not incur the annual fee.

I enrolled for the free guest pass to try out Crunch Fitness to see if I liked it or not. Went on 12/4/23 @ 5am. As soon as I walked in the blonde lady working the front desk was talking to a guy (which at first I assumed was a customer but must not have been as they were following eachother around the gym the entire time I was there and frequently talking at the front desk on and off), as I walked in she was talking to him quietly and then glanced over at me as if I was an inconvenience. I had to greet her first and let her know I was checking in and using my guest pass. Her response immediately was “well are you from the area” I said where I live (a 9 minute drive from the gym) and she said well we usually only let people come here if they live around here but it’s okay for today. My friend who is a crunch member lives even further away and she is a member there. On top of that, no sauna which was a huge let down, but not like it matters since I’m not “allowed” at that location anyways. Even if you do have to be from the area, I live pretty close I would say and also just a very distasteful interaction from the worker. I should be greeted, or be told welcome to the gym or just something positive being a new customer. Just very turned off by the whole experience. I took a tour of the Crunch Fitness in Fairmount and was a much better interaction and better customer service.

Just a little disappointed. One of my family members were there tonight, there was a blonde worker running the place. 5 minutes before closing @5 pm the blonde worker shuts all of the lights off in the place while my family member was on the treadmill still. There is a group of employees who make it stressful as soon as you walk in the gym's door. The general manager endores the negativity which is a challenge for positive change to occur. You literally need to work out your mind to get pass the unpleasant, unprofessional, and disrespectful (not all, but most) staff. Other than those riffraffs working there, it's a pretty good gym.

I signed up for personal training, Crunch took my payment out twice a month instead of once for four months. I’ve called and spoke to the General Manager Brandon, he stated it was a clear mistake on their end and stated the money would be refunded within the next week. I’ve only went once as a guest too a friend who had a membership& haven’t been back since yet they keep calling my phone ( from multiple different numbers ) demanding payments ! I told them I’ve only been once I’ve tried it cancel my membership multiple times online I am unable too. Every time the call demanding payment I tell them to cancel my membership & too stop calling & they still continue. I just tried called the support number .. they pick up don’t say a word & hang up right in your face lmfaooo ! This morning, General Manager Brandon Dumais revoked my membership. I am one of Crunch Dewitt’s founding members. This morning, the gym was closed until 10:00am due to a few inches of snow, which is nothing new in Syracuse, New York. Obviously, the General Manager forgot that we live in a place that snows. I had asked to speak with the owner of the gym, and for a point of contact to file a complaint. The manager refused to give any information to file a compliant, which seems as if he is trying to protect himself more than manage the gym and revoked my membership rather than give me information to file a complaint. Lately, the gym has not been opening on time. This has never happened before. On top of that, the equipment in the gym is always broken and never gets fixed anymore. The locker rooms are disgusting and smells like urine. Soap dispensers are always either empty or broken. I’ve been at this gym since it originally opened and was my main gym since that point. After Brandon took over it just has gotten worse and worse and has brought me to use Hercules gym instead as my main gym. I (would have) still kept Crunch as a secondary gym because I did like doing certain workouts there but apparently I am now revoked? Frankly, if a member can’t be given information to file a complaint to improve the services, it would drive me to cancel. However, the ownership and upper management need to be aware. Today, not only did I sit in the parking lot for a hour, I didn’t even get to workout! Just because I asked who I could contact, he decided to revoke my membership? Luckily for me, every other gym (that you compete against) was open! Blink fitness was open at normal hours this morning, thankfully. Looks like that will be my second gym. I don’t recommend this gym maybe if they fix their management.

Never been constantly harassed about having to pay for canceling my membership at any gym before like this one. They had me signed a paper then after me signing it, the girl wrote on it an amount I’d still have to pay, I didn’t even constant to that nor sign for that so why would I pay it? I’m not paying for a month+extra I wasn’t using the gym. Very money hungry and overall was annoying to cancel because I told them I got in a crash and couldn’t find a find a ride there so could I cancel over the phone or online and I was told it had to be in person or they’d continue to charge me regardless. It’s been months, I have a new gym which is way better/closer however more pricey but still better than this gym. But, even tho it’s been months this gym still tries to charge my accounts randomly random amounts of charges like just today they tried charging me 168. Ridiculous, good thing my accounts don’t let their transactions go though because it’s really upsetting at this point.

The atmosphere here is fine if you’re looking to film TikTok videos and fight for space to lift.

I signed up online when I started here and made sure to look for a non-commitment plan. After finding a better gym that was slightly closer to my home I went in to cancel and was told that I had picked a commitment type plan and it would cost me $80+ to cancel.

The manager also gave me a hard to about cancelling and told me how the gym wasn’t really closer (with traffic it’s 5-10 minutes less of a drive). He also fought with me about the plan I selected and was rude and pushy when it came to asking me about why I wanted to leave while explaining that I would need to pay for membership through August when it’s mid-June.

Pay a little extra and go somewhere better, you deserve it.

Overall, the gym meets the status quo of any other facility. The staff are unprofessional and the management is garbage. Facilities are poorly maintained. Canceling a policy is usually more complicated than need be.

As I sit in parking lot at 730 when the gym is supposed to open at 7. Multiple times a week opens late and the manager Brandon doesn’t mind leaving members sitting in parking lot. Not sure what this management style is but it’s beyond horrible. Nice gym when they decide to open.

This place is terrible, its just a planet fitness with free weights. Most judgmental place from the staff to the members it’s like everyone has something to prove and can’t mind their own business. Would not recommend. Go to Hercules gym.

I am a new gym go-er and am dedicated to a local gym. I wanted to branch out and utilize my friend’s guest pass to another gym to test the waters and see what else is out there in hopes to gain more experience and confidence with different gyms and machines. Today, my friend utilized his guest pass to Crunch Fitness in Dewitt (he has been an avid and loyal member to this gym for many years) to show me what this gym offers. We worked out on the same machines, taking turns, both doing reps and sets, especially on machines that my local gym does not offer. Since I am newer to the gym than my friend, he was encouraging me at the end of each set, as friends do. At the end of an hour gym session, my friend was called to the front desk and was firmly told that he was “training me” and he is “taking the opportunity away from the trainers they had at the gym”. My friend proceeded to tell the manager that his friend (me) is a coworker, am in no way receiving money from me, and the reason of bringing me to this gym was to see if I wanted to become a member down the road. My friend was not training me, but rather, encouraging me, and offering tips with the machines since they are new to me. The manager proceeded to talk to my friend and ultimately revoked his membership of years and is not welcome back into Crunch Fitness. My friend was not given a warning, and no worker or manager came up to us during our workout to let us know that us working out with eachother was a “problem”. Not sure what the Crunch Fitness’ guest pass is for if you cannot even workout with a friend. Before attending this gym as a guest, I researched what Crunch Fitness is about. Their website says they “keep open minds”, “seek only to encourage”, and “there is room for everyone”. I certainly did not feel this way at the end of the workout session since my friend was discouraged to show me the ropes of a gym that is new to me, especially as a new goer who is just trying to use the machines safely. I was not happy with my experience at this gym and will not be recommending to my friends.

It's one thing to have a service dog which completely understandable. Every time I come here it's like a pet daycare. I have allergies to dogs and I find myself having to take benadryl after my workouts. I have been to different Crunch fitness and this is the first time I'm seeing this consistently at this location.

I will not be returning to this gym I wanted to cancel my membership due to the fact I was charged early and when I called I was given a hard time about getting my money back so I went to speak to someone in person and Aldo spoke with the owner of the gym was told I would get my 102$ back and that I had to pay a 22$ cancelation fee I said ok but they kept all the money that they charged me and when I called again I was told that I was not getting nun of my money even though I had been charged early an canceled before my next payment was due they are unprofessional I will not be returning back because even if you speak with someone you get nowhere

When it comes to canceling your membership or changing it, it is a nightmare. At first I changed from the $24.99 to $14.99 because I wasn't going as much or using the perks of it. I was charged the day it was changed which is fine, then 5 days later when my previous membership would charge me, I was charged once again when I was told on the phone that wouldn't happen. When I called explaining this the manager told me he never said that and wouldn't listen to a word I had to say about it because it's his way or no way. Honestly the gym itself is great and I liked the equipment they had but the management is horrible. They do not care about the customer's at all which is funny because without us there wouldn't be a gym....... Don't get a membership here if there's any chance you will cancel it.

Edit:2nd opinion after about a year. But equipment breaks all the time and it seems there is on effort or urgency to get it fixed. Sinks in the bathroom don't and men's bathroom dose not seem to be cleaned. The water fountain looks like it has stuff growing on in. And the filter has been red for months.

Highly recommend crunch! We loved it here while we were members and when it was time to move on and build our home gym crunch made the cancellation very easy and stress free. If we ever decide to get a gym membership again crunch is the place to go!!!

Edit- My cancellation didn’t go through I guess even though I checked twice, once in person and once on the phone. More headaches for something simple.

February 2022 - Still being charged for something I have tried canceling numerous times. Credit card chargeback seems to be the only way to get it to stop!

Ever since the change in Management this location has gone to complete chaos. My fiancé and I have been members there for almost a year. We took a 5 month break because of an injury I was dealing with. When we returned, we found that Management had changed. We also returned to find mold and calcium build ups in the only drinking fountain. The filter was always reading that it needed to be changed. There was only one functioning sink in both locker rooms. The faucets in said locker rooms were so loose that you can pull them off the counter tops. Bathroom stalls and urinals were NEVER clean. The stand up tanning units had more than a dozen blown out bulbs with what looked to be pubic hair building up behind the glass. This location is absolutely disgusting and I don't recommend this gym to anyone...
