Joined this place nearly a year ago and am loving it. The instructors are great, the workouts are varied, and everyone is really friendly.

I particularly appreciate how the instructors modify workouts to accommodate my old injuries. They know their stuff.

I’ve been a member of Dutch Kills Fitness for 10 years, and it’s truly the best gym in Long Island City. The coaching, led by Dominick Fortino is top-tier, the programming is smart and challenging, and the variety—from CrossFit and strength training to strongman equipment—keeps things fresh.

I started my journey at Dutch Kills Fitness in December of 2018. As a former North East regional CrossFit athlete, I experienced a devastating injury (ACL tear) after my appearance on “NBC’s Titan Games” and was graciously received by Dominick Fortino at Dutch Kills Fitness, for his expertise in strength training.
Under Dom’s guidance via prehab and post surgery rehab programming, not only did I return to the competitive realm of CrossFit, but I came back stronger and with improved movement/ technique.
If not for this gym, the programming, and its strong community, I’m not sure I would have made the comeback that I did. I am forever grateful for this place, the people, and the relationships I have made here.
Thank you Dutch Kills Fitness & Dominick Fortino, for bringing me back to fitness, keeping me strong, and for never giving up on me!!

I feel lucky to be a member at this gym. I have been lifting weights for almost 20 years and have never been stronger or had better form on my lifts. The workout programming and incredible coaches are what have allowed me to see these results. The community at this gym is also something special. Everyone is welcoming and nice and the gym regularly hosts social events and activities.

Dominick is one of a kind. He is the epitome of giving more than he takes. He is also unique in that he practices what he preaches. He will join the community six days a week, following his fitness program to understand the ebb and flow, when to crank it up, and when to turn it down. He cares immensely about the health of the community and thinks through every decision he makes with his members in mind. I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of this about him.

If you want a welcoming, caring, hard working community that is on the ride together, through the ups and downs, then this is the place for you. Regardless of experience level, give it a shot!

When you commit to train at a box 3-5 times a week there’ve got to be some very good reasons! The coaching at DKF led by Dom Fortino is absolutely top notch. After several years at my previous box I had poor Olympic lifting form and a severe shoulder injury. Joining DKF totally turned things around for me in terms of form, and I’m still hitting PRs at age 54. I really look forward to working out at DKF, and highly highly recommend it to anyone looking for high quality programming in a relaxed fun environment.

I was first introduced to DKF through some friends. I have never done CrossFit before. I work as a Physical Therapist and always had bad impressions of these types of work out. I would say my mind was completely changed and it’s been my main workout since 2019.

Dom is an amazing owner and coach and cares about each individual. He cares about the community and about bringing fitness to the general population, which is so important. The coaches are good at what they do and watch you closely to ensure you are moving with good form and appropriate weight. In my first few months of joining, the coaches and fellow members helped me to modify my workouts to make it more achievable. I always feel empowered because I never knew I could train to lift so much weight or do any gymnastic movements! I always feel good walking out :)

I have gotten stronger, fitter and healthier because of this space :) it has even changed the way I treat my patients, tailoring my exercises to be more functional just like how Dom’s programming is.

If you are looking to be stronger in a non-judgmental zone, DKF is the place to be! The results speak for themselves!

I was hesitant to join a Crossfit-like gym for years, but after months of being frustrated with the limited equipment and classes at your typical gym I decided to give this place a chance. That was back in 2017 and I am still proud to be a member of this gym today in 2022. I've made new friends, found a new joy in fitness, and have done things I never thought I could do before.

The coaches are very knowledgeable and can help you regardless of your fitness journey or experience to date. I've felt confident in bringing friends who are new to fitness or even my own mom to a class!

If I could rate this gym a 10/10, I would. Give it a chance, you won't regret it!

I moved to Astoria in 2019 and started going to DKF right away, and it was love at first lift. When my lease was up in 2021, I purposefully moved to an apartment closer to the gym so I could go more often; I can’t say that about many other places.
Dom the owner does all the programming, so you never have to think about what you’re going to do when you come to class, eliminating the hassle of having to make a game plan before leaving for the gym. This also means that if you attend class regularly, you’re guaranteed to hit all muscle groups throughout the week, which is good for me since I like many others used to consistently “postpone” leg day, but now I look forward to it!
One of the more interesting things about DKF is the variety of strongman equipment. For me personally it was the first gym I came to that had stones, logs, axel bars, yokes, etc. Once I saw that equipment on my drop in, I instantly thought to myself “Oo I wanna try those!”
Coaches are great and cater to all skill levels, I’ve been lifting for years and I’ll still pick up tips and ways to improve my technique.
The members also really make DKF what it is; while individual skill levels may vary greatly, there is NEVER, and I mean NEVER, any shaming or poking fun at people like I have experienced at other gyms. At the end of the day, if you show up, you are miles ahead of the couch potato and you should be commended for that. While I go to DKF to work out, I’ve found over the years I just as much go to talk and laugh with friends there I’ve made over the years.
That’s all I got, long story short:

Looking to lose weight? DKF.
Looking to make friends? DKF.
Looking for unique equipment? DKF.
Looking for programming? DKF.
Looking to get more handsome? DKF can’t help that much sorry.

I grew up in a town of 1,000 in Missouri and moved to NYC over 20 years ago, and I never felt like I was part of a true community here until I found this gym. This place has helped to make me the healthiest and strongest in my life, but the people are what got me so committed. When I met Dom, he said “Commit to 3 days a week for 3 months and I promise you you’ll see a difference.” I’m so glad I went all in and I got a 200lb bench press to prove it!

I have been a member at this gym for about 3 years. The owner, Dom, goes above and beyond for all his clients and the community. The programming is designed to push you past your comfort zone and builds not only physical strength but mental agility. The gym is a great size, and has tons of rigs and equipment. Perfect for the beginner to the professional athlete, the community is warm and welcoming. About a year into my membership I experienced and injury and every time I went to class Dom would text me with modifications to the workout so that I could still attend class and not be left behind.

During the pandemic, every single morning, Dom and his team of coaches would take all of the equipment out of the gym and place each item in the designated 6ft apart spot (we were allowed 12 members at a time). Barbells, weights, kettlebells, mats, stones, essentially every piece of equipment would come out of the gym at 530 am and back into the gym at the end of the night. I have never seen anyone go above and beyond for their people in this way, and in such a time of need. He even let us each take home a piece of equipment for those who were uncomfortable coming to workout outside.

Dom always makes himself available and his coaching style is so meticulous. He pays attention to every detail and gives great instruction. You can tell he puts his heart and soul into what he does and he has found his passion. This place has changed my life for the better, and if you ever have the privilege of attending a class at DKF you will not be disappointed.

I've tried all the Crossfit gyms in LIC/Astoria. This one is the best by far. Great community that genuinely cares about each other. The coaches are top notch. And Dom, the owner, is the kindest and most encouraging team player.

I'm relatively new to Crossfit. Dom and his team were able to scale the workouts to meet me where I was. After about 6 months, I couldn't be happier with the results -- not only do I look fit, I also feel good and am more aware of my body. Don't be afraid to give this gym a shot even if you've never tried Crossfit.

Highly recommend this gym for all things fitness and good vibes.

Best place to hit Dutch Kills since sliced bread. The trainers here are really concerned and focused on your technique, and will work with you individually until perfection. This takes patience and willingness upon your part. Let me tell you, I experienced intense back pain for 3 years (that I thought would never go away) from my own negligence in poor deadlifting when I was doing “my own thing” at the gym. Dom and gang (Kelly, Mead, Cynthia, and more) were quick to address (constructively) my weak points to lead me to a world where I am now virtually 100% pain free. They truly know their stuff and will get you to a CrossFit athlete in no time. Plus, there’s a perk of getting jacked! Highly recommend. Separately, the attendees are just as highly supportive and ego free!
