I had a good experience with the robot massage Aescape. With coupon codes this is very affordable and no tips. The check in is smooth and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They will provide a message shirt and leggings. Just make sure your massage shirt is in your leggings and the back part is tight.
The good thing is the price includes a day pass so you can use the other amenities here without a long term membership. The gym itself was kinda small but clean. The reason for one star deduction is that there was no hot water on the day I went, so I didn’t get to take a shower or try the steam room

I got a 2-day free trial at Equinox and chose this as one of my locations! Absolutely insane, right in the middle of SoHo and all you can see around are Prada, Valentino, Tom Ford, Dior, Saint Laurent and basically every other top fashion brand. SoHo equinox is probably a little smaller than the Bond St location, but they have a lot of space to sit and work with charging points, and also a station where you can borrow chargers for free.
The locker rooms are AMAZING, I love the steam room (and no, I didn't see anything sexual happening lol). But I feel everybody was locked in, I tried to talk to a few people but not sure if they were okay with me doing that.
And yeah the music in the lobby is always playing and loud, but overall definitely a 4/5 experience

On Sunday I experienced something I’ve never experienced in my life. One of the front desk girls at the Soho location called me the wrong name in front of everyone and said I had a due payment. I told her I already paid, but instead of checking her computer, she argued with me. I had to step outside because I was so uncomfortable and embarrassed.
When I came back, I showed her the proof that I paid, and she finally said she’d let her manager know. This was completely unprofessional. You don’t confront a paying member about private billing issues in front of other people. For what I’m paying every month, I expect respect and proper communication.

I visited equinox soho for the aescape robot full body massage and it was great! Their spa is relaxing and feels like a nice environment for a massage. I like how I could control the pressure throughout and felt very relaxed after a heavy workout.
Highly recommend!

Nice gym but there is a huge theft problem here. I’ve been coming here regularly for 2.5 years. Today is the THIRD time I’ve had something stolen here.
You’d think that a SoHo location of a premium gym wouldn’t have this issue with its clientele or staff but it does seem persistent
The funny thing is the items I’ve had stolen are relatively inexpensive ~$100 compared to some of the things people put into their locker. Be careful!
Edit 6/27/25 my locker was opened again without my consent. This is a recorded incident
with management. I do not have in house laundry service so there is no reason staff should be going into my locker.
Edit 9/16/25 I arrived to my locker being locked with a new combination and someone else just straight up using my locker now. After months of it being rented under my name. I’ve cancelled and documented with front desk.

Poor experience - too busy and trainers take up the machinery in the morning.
It’s honestly comical - there is usually a trainer (who isn’t in great shape) taking up about half the free floor space and pushing others off. Like the gym is already small, so this should not be happening for the price that consumers pay.
Hopefully management makes adjustments and allows less trainers to roam free.

As soon as I inquired about Equinox, Brittany called to confirm my tour date and time and answered any immediate questions I had up front. From that moment on, she made the entire process seamless and stress-free. She provided all the information I needed, was quick to respond to my (many!) questions, and made me feel completely supported every step of the way. Thanks to her, I felt confident in my decision and I couldn’t be happier! Brittany’s professionalism, warmth, and genuine passion for helping others truly stood out. Highly recommend working with her if you're considering joining Equinox!

Anyone considering paying for this luxurious and expensive gym, think twice about their terrible service. Across multiple locations, the staff no longer care for or attend to customers as they did before you signed up.
Once you become a member, if you lose something or forget an item, don’t expect any effort from the staff to assist you. No one will take the initiative to look for it or coordinate with others. Instead, you’ll receive an immediate response of “No, we don’t have it” the moment you ask.
If it were me, I would at least say, “Please hold on, let me check for you,” or contact the housekeeping staff responsible. Their response is far too quick and dismissive, showing zero effort to help.
Even the quality of the body lotion and shampoo has declined, yet the membership fees keep rising every year.

I come to this SoHo Equinox 2-3 times a week before work, as it is on my way to the office. Something about biking to the gym on an empty stomach in 30 degree weather before the sun has risen makes me feel like Rocky. Like David Goggins. Like a 2013 Conor McGregor. I'm just so hungry. Being on the road when it's just me and construction workers out makes me feel so beast.
It just feels like a win opening up the gym door at 5:45am, walking up 3 flights of stairs and greeting the sleepy staff who couldn't be less interested in my presence. I drop my stuff in the locker room and get down to the largely empty gym floor.
Everyone else in here at this time has all my respect. I see 15ish people in here before me, and give them a subtle nod as if to say "I see you workin...they not like us..." I don't actually do that but in my head we nonverbally communicate this.
I hop on the little squat machine that overlooks the intersection of Prince St and Broadway, pop my airpods in, and start listening to some old Katy Perry and Kid Cudi as I'm fighting for my life doing these squats. I mf love this machine, but I'm not gonna hype it up too much because then other people will start using it. It lowkey just collects dust in the corner.
After getting an amazing 45 minute sweat, I head up to the locker room to shower and change. Few things have hurt my soul more than when they switched all the skincare products from Kiehl's to that brand Grown Alchemist. Grown Alchemist is hot garbage, idc. How you gonna increase my membership every year but downgrade the products? Make that make sense. FREE KIEHL'S!
After risking my skin health with Grown Alchemist, I change into my button down, slacks, and dress shoes and clock into the matrix. The matrix has been whoopin me lately, but these early mornings here at this beautiful Equinox make me feel better, as at least I have done something for myself.

New trainers act insanely entitled and behave inappropriately with each other and gym members. Turnover of management and staff here is insanely high because rather than fixing serious issues, they would rather leave. Every time you follow up on an issue, there is a new person stepping in, which means nothing is ever resolved. Don’t expect to receive any actual help or customer support from the training manager Haley. Trainers and employees also too busy flirting to take their job and complaints seriously. Myself and other women constantly feel uncomfortable with the amount of creepy old men who feel okay with hitting on woman while we are just trying to work out. Not a safe place and the staff don’t have your back. Please hire people who have actual management experience and care about the customer experience. $300 for this kind of experience is ridiculous.

To say the least, there are two words that best express this location. Smelly and dirty. I would not recommend this location other than the classes and basically that’s it. It is a bigger location however, the cleanliness doesn’t even come close to where it needs to be. Equinox if you are reading this, I’d love to get on a call with you and go through all of your Manhattan locations as of them need a lot of work. I speak to a lot of people and you guys lack heavily inconsistency, and other options are being explored by many consumers because of that.

Went to use one of my guest passes on a friend who is a member at a different equinox but can’t get into this location. They refused to let him in as a guest and tried to charge him for a day pass. Makes no sense that I can’t use one of the day passes that I pay thousands of dollars for on someone who also pays thousands of dollars at a different location. On top of changing all of the products from khiels to the worst brand ever, overpacked gyms, equinox is officially going down hill. My membership has been cancelled.

Far as the cleaning crew and PTs go, they're superb. They're super positive and uplifting. That being said, there are members of the front desk staff who have made It such an uncomfortable experience just to check in here that I regret paying the roughly four thousand dollars for an annual membership. Lexi, in particular, was very rude to me today. I asked her to store a hula-hoop I had carried with me to the gym and she just looked at me up and down and said she’d do it once but not again. I’m aware the gym isn’t a storage locker. Her words felt much more condescending. I get that I don't look like the typical "equinox gym goer" (I Wear sweatsuits and have very short hair- I am female, and I teach hula hoop lessons) but I pay my dues same as everyone else! VERY uninclusive vibe…very off putting.
a note for the front desk staff here- all that glitters isn't gold, treat everyone who PAYS for service here with respect

Gym is fine but like at many of the Equinoxes the class instructors are very inconsistent in their skills as practitioners and instructors.
Erika Hammond for Knockout class—uplifting, positive, challenging, amazing. Khalhea London for Floor Pilates—negative, impatient, exasperated, harsh (at least two new people left after 10 minutes). Consumers could really use a public rating system for instructors so we can just steer clear of the sour apples. If you are reading this Equinox, happy to give more details but I tried to use exactly the right words to describe the two approaches. The rating would be improved to a 3 or 4 if this issue were fixed (consistently better instructors).

I was ready to sign up, at first I was annoyed because I got 2 missed calls a day and then minimum 5 messages a day confirming. A friend and I went and before hand they requested about 6 times her information, I did not want to hand it over and said we will give it to them when we arrive. We got the tour of the gym - it was a really nice gym but there were lots of questions we had unanswered. Then when we were unsure (because it was so pushy) she asked if we wanted to be followed up with that evening, we said no. Of course we then each get a message asking us if we want to sign up , then another message the next day. Honestly they need to stop being so pushy - as mentioned we were ready to sign up but it is too much hassling people like that.

This is one of the least pleasant Equinox locations in Midtown unless you are participating in a class (for which the studio is on the smaller size). No matter the day of the week or time that you go, the floor is so chaotically cramped, every single machine is taken, and every square foot is occupied such that there is physically no room to move. While the staff here is friendly and helpful, I would never choose to go to this location for anything but a class.

Great staff! I have used most of the Manhattan Equinoxes and this one, despite its crowds—on weekends in addition to the after work rush—is probably my favorite. The staff achieves a balance of friendly/helpful and cool. It’s well-maintained and as clean as newer, less busy Equinoxes.
Three things especially differentiate this club: (1) the two well-outletted and WiFied lounge & work areas, (2) the Juice Generation (so much better than Juice Press—don’t change!!!!), and the big south-facing windows.
The only complaint I have has to do with competition for machines, weights, and especially mat space for stretching (there’s only one area and it’s small for the numbers served) when it’s crowded—which is often. Better use might be made of the cardio area. Seems to be the one place that isn’t fully-utilized. Do that or show some plan to alleviate stretch area crowding and you’ll have 5 stars.

I’ve been a member for 5 months at various lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Equinox locations. The culture is to discourage members from using the gym unless they are paying for their useless trainers. And the management will do absolutely nothing; just an empty corporate sorry statement below this review!
Google: Equinox Fitness Club Lawsuit
Before you get locked into a $250+ monthly, 12-month contract; read a few real Google reviews, not the fake 5-star reviews from people that got a free class, nor the ones amazed by the location or it being clean. I found 10 Google reviews just in the lower Manhattan and Brooklyn locations, specifically on the trainers monopolizing the equipment, making fun of member, rudeness and overcrowding! I would add the links, but Google does not allow links.
Now for my experience at Soho. One of the trainers, Josh, stepped between me and the cable cross machine while I was holding the grips, about to starting my 4th set. Just to remove a rubber band and toss it to the side. Went I confronted him, he tried to act all fake and friendly asking me if I saw his setup? His client wasn’t anywhere near the equipment and the gym had just open. He specifically has made fun of me in the past for using the assisted pull up machine, earlier this year so I was not buying his BS. He also touched my leg while talking to me for some weird reason. There was no reason for him to block my set and when I wrote to management and the corporate headquarters, nothing was done, and they don’t care!
This is not the only time this has specifically happened to me at Equinox. Several times trainers have stood right next to me and other people working out when there was ample space not too. I had to move multiple times or get the clueless trainer’s attention to move when I was working out.
The trainers also waste their clients time with useless exercises like ball slams. Throwing a 15 lb. beanbag ball down, with the force of gravity, using momentum, works nothing. This is why, after months of training they look the same and still can’t do a pullup. One can easily YouTube an actual workout or just take the group classes.
The only good thing about Equinox is there gyms are clean except when people stand on the benches and don't wipe them down afterwards. Their app and the group classes are great. I’ll try Crunch and just take the Equinox classes for the remainder of my 12-month contract because you can’t cancel, even if the trainers prevent you from using the machines safety.
And the music is too loud... Even if it was my kind of music, it doesn't need to be played for the entire gym. Most people are anyways wearing headphones.

It’s really crowded. Everyone exercises on one floor. And in the locker rooms, it’s even more crowded. Last time I went, there was a line of 2 women waiting to use the showers. The body lotion is placed in the middle of the crowded walkway.

I had a great time trying out this location before dinner. Staffs were nice. Diverse group of members. Will come back if I'm in Soho
*I have no choice but to edit my review and respond to a deplorable reviewer by the name of Nadia S. I am not an equinox employee. Her hateful and disgusting attitude has no place at Equinox.
1. Nadia S: "they speak Spanish in front of me."
Seriously?! So what! You're working out in SoHo. It's in the middle of a bubble with a diverse group of people speaking different languages.
2. Nadia S: "It’s American not Mexico."
Are you an idiot? Learn to write proper English! Second, America welcomes people of all ethnicities and people who speaks different languages. Third, there's more than one country that speaks Spanish. Puerto Rico's primary language is Spanish. Puerto Rico is one of our American territories. This is why you're ignorant and uneducated.
3. Nadia S: "How do I know what do they say? Maybe they are talking nasty about me! Rude"
Who cares! Grow up!! Take out your phone and ask Google, Siri or Alexa to translate. The only rude person here is you, Nadia. Furthermore, your English is worst than my 5yo son.
Nadia...I've read your other reviews. Your therapist is probably right on the $...you are a crazy psycho.

This gym is so fancy! They have a great sitting area for people who want to work on their computers or lounge around. It doesn't feel like there's a million people at the gym. You get to leave the craziness of SoHo for just a bit.

Beautiful people workout in the typical, high quality, Equinox setting. You get what you pay for and this is a beautiful, expensive gym.

Conveniently located. Always clean. Nice atmosphere. Professional staff. Love the app. My only wish (hence 4 stars) is that Equinox would add more personal training into the membership.

Good location. Great staff. It is quiet small and gets packed at times but I like it. It's great.
The classes are excellent and the hang out area is very comfortable. However, it's not my favorite Equinox.

$188 dollars a month too many. They offer nothing other than making you body conscious and good massages at twice the price of the monthly dues.
thank you equinox!

This is probably one of my favorite Equinox locations. It's large/spacious, convenient, and has a nice staff. Located right smack in the middle of SoHo, you have to first brave the crowd of shoppers and tourists to get to Equinox, but if you take the N or R train, then you're spat out right of front of the gym. The entrance here is on the corner of Prince and Crosby, so at least there's no horde of people walking around.
The gym itself is set up with 3.5 floors. The first floor being the shop and juice bar. Go up some stairs, and there's this mini floor that has some tables, couches and a TV. This is where I sit if I need to check on some emails or do some work after a workout session. Go up once more, and you are greeted by the front desk. The front desk area once again does have a bunch of couches and some computers to use for browsing.
The this 2nd floor is where you're going to spend the majority of the time. The weight/cardio room is here, as well as the women's locker room. Tons of cardio machines, a decent stretching area, and a wide range of machines to do weights. For the countless of times when I've gone, I've never had to wait for a machine or a set of weights. Even at peak time, you are still able to do your workout uninterrupted.
Just like all Equinoxes, you do get the normal gym amenities of towels, distilled water, and the infamous eucalyptus towels.
Upstairs on the top floor is where the yoga studio and the men's locker room is. Tons of lockers, several shower stalls, and yes, there are Kiehl's products for you to use. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. This is where the bulk of your fatty dues go to.
All in all, this is a great location for a great gym. It's a tad on the expensive side, but when you're working out everyday, why skimp?

This Equinox is known not only for intense and challenging spin classes (take Darryl's!), but for great eye candy.

I came here, and coming from other less pricey gyms I was king of shocked, the staff is so friendly here!. The facilities are so clean and there is never a wait. The only downside is the price but you get what you pay for!

Nice gym in a great location, although it does get too crowded at times. In peak times, you definitely have to wait for machines and equipments. They keep the place very clean though.
