Gennaro has helped me twice get back into shape after I had put on a bit of weight. He has a lot of knowledge about how to safely lose weight while trying not to lose too much muscle. Once in a while in NYC one comes across a rare gem – in terms of a personal trainer – Gennaro is that gem (via Australia and Italy – go figure); I’m in my mid 40s and I’ve done plenty of marathons and tris; I’ve been training with Gennaro for over a year now and the reason is quite simple - he gets you immediate results – and those results are continuous! I had been working out and going to all the various fitness classes for years but not seeing the results I wanted. So I signed up for 12 weeks × 4x / week with Gennaro. The workouts totally changed my understanding of what it takes to achieve the fitness I want. Gennaro's workouts are intense and pushed me beyond what I thought I was able to do - and the results were commensurate with the effort. I recall one specific set on leg day where I did a set of 10 leg presses and I thought it was the hardest weight and reps I could possibly handle. Gennaro added weights for the next set so I figured I'd do fewer reps but I asked him how many reps he thought I should do. He said "12, mate. You've just got to move the weight faster and you can do it". And he was right. I made gains I wouldn't have thought possible and enjoyed the spillover effect from that confidence to other areas of life. Do yourself a favor and sign up to train with Gennaro and your only regret will be that you didnt do it sooner.

I've been training with Gennaro religiously for over a year and he's an amazing trainer. He created a program that was specifically geared to help me achieve my goals. When I met Gennaro, I was recovering from a running injury. I tried everything - physical therapy, PRP, acupuncture, etc. - and nothing helped. With Gennaro's expertise, I built up the muscles around the injured area, incorporated balancing exercises and increased my overall strength to improve my running form. Not only do I feel fantastic, but I'm able to get back to the sport that I love. I highly recommend Gennaro to assist you in reaching your fitness goals. I am not new to fitness. I am an actual fitness coach myself. Additionally, I am a former professional competitive DanceSport World and U.S. Champion. I am 38 years old and have been involved in some form of fitness, whether it be for dance training or coaching others myself for close to 20 years. I took on the goal to compete in, and win, a Men's Physique fitness competition. So, after getting a recommendation, I hired my first coach. Although I am not new to fitness, I was completely in the dark in the Men Physique world. I wanted an experienced coach in this field for my first experience.

After 90 days of promises and telling me to trust and other things to try and make me believe this was "part of the process", I'd had enough. I had lost weight, but that was only due to eliminating processed foods and alcohol. My nutrition was set for an offseason competitor at best. I had lost weight but gained body fat. I actually looked worse 90 days later. I had explicitly informed my coach of my specific goals over and over in great detail, only to be told not to worry. The workouts were horrible, and I dreaded each one. I left every time so sore for days that it interfered with my daily life. This trainer laughed about my soreness and took it as a compliment. I was discouraged from speaking up and saying I liked an exercise, or else I would do so many reps of that exercise that I was made to not say that I liked other exercises.

I had thought, at first, that I am new to this, so maybe this is just the process in the beginning. The trainer spoke of the experience they possessed and even competed in a show themselves. But it was that same show that sealed my choice to move on. This coach was in a poor conditioning. This coach's athletes were in poor conditioning. And one actually could have won had he been prepped better nutritionally. It all turned out that this coach had been involved in fitness and fitness competitions, but they were not the champion they implied, nor did they back up anything they promised. And I was done trusting.

That is when I started to research my next coach. This experience was not a total loss. It taught me exactly how to find who my new coach would be. That is when I came upon Gennaro. No recommendations and no one else helping. Just my own research. I watched his bodybuilding videos. I watched him win Mr. Australia. I watched, even into his late 40's still compete and look better than most competitors half his age.

It means a lot to me, being in the fitness industry myself, that someone can coach someone from one each of the spectrum- from the most elite athlete all the way to someone who's very new to fitness. It also means a lot to me that they look the part. He does.Those types of coaches understand goals and fitness. They understand how to communicate the same thing in different ways. There are more than enough champions who cannot articulate what to do in a variety of ways in order to meet the masses of goals. He can do both, be a champion and coach others to be champions.
Other coaches are all flash and trash with not substance or quality. I have pet peeves about coaches too involved in their own texting or social media while coaching. I had my first coach who was always 5-10 mins late. So, I watched Gennaro to see him more clearly in person. He was, and is, the real deal. In two months I have gone from 180 lbs down to 167, without losing an ounce of muscle. I am the leanest I have ever been. My shoulder injury I got while with the first coach, and their high rep method, has subsided with Gennaro's ability to maximize all muscles and work around injuries so they can heal without taking time off. And if you are doing a fitness show, then his stage presence, stage awareness, stage experience, and posing coaching is unmatched by anyone else. But if you are not doing a competition, then he is just as awesome at meeting your goals with you. I promise the only thing you will regret will be that you did not find Gennaro sooner.

I've taken Gennaro's Power Pose class for over a month and I have loved every minute of it! He is quite creative and imaginative in how he puts his exercise and posing sequences together and I've really learned a lot throughout this entire process! I have been working with Gennaro for a year and a half and I can honestly say that he has made a tremendous difference in my life and health and fitness. He really knows his stuff and is very focussed on the client and making sure that the client is maintaining proper form. He is quick to correct any deviation from the ideal form but always does this in a very positive way so one does not feel bad about doing something wrong. Then when you follow his advice he is quick to reinforce the improvement with sincere praise. He is always alert to any limitations I might show and doesn't push me beyond those limits but is great at encouraging me to go beyond what I thought I could accomplish. In fact he seems to have a much better sense of my capabilities than I do and he helps me expand those capabilities frequently. He has the perfect personality for fitness training, being very open, easy-going and friendly but he doesn't waste time during our sessions and is firm about making the most of the time for training and helping me to make a greater effort gradually to lift heavier weights. I have been training with Maestro Gennaro Ferra for over 1 1/2 years now & to say he's changed my life would be an understatement. As a life long actor, singer, musician, & martial artist, I know that TRUE changes, real changes, are only gained in ONE way. With patience, focus, heart & determination, & over time. You make real changes IN the actual arena & with that comes True knowledge. The Knowledge based in the EXPERIENCE of DOING. THIS is what sets Gennaro Ferra apart from all other trainers.
