I went to Flying Squirrel for my first Pilates class in possibly ten years and my first reformer class ever. Dakota and my classmates were welcoming and patient, and the workout was stupendous. Despite being challenging, the class was shockingly easy to follow, and I experienced minimum pain the next day--a sign of a teacher who designs a class to stretch but not exceed a student's ability. I've had great experiences with other instructors, as well, including the owner, Dani.

I love the vibe at FSS. With only five reformers and springboards, classes are intimate. RECOMMENDED!!!

I booked a private class for my family visiting from out of town - we had the best time!!!! Our instructor, Dani, also the owner, was so fun, encouraging, and knowledgeable - while also giving us a workout that kicked our butts! The gym rat teenagers loved it as much as us, umm, older folks🤣.
Highly recommend!

I took my first ever Pilates class here in the spring and went a couple times a week for a few months. The instructors are all top-notch and made sure I had a great foundation for Pilates. The classes are small and intentional. If I hadn’t moved out of the neighborhood, I would still be going!

The pilates instructors at Flying Squirrel are first rate. In pilates class I want to work hard, get a little personal attention and leave feeling stronger -- and a little levity also doesn't hurt. I have taken classes from many instructors at Flying Squirrel and they are all great! Dakota offers degrees of difficulty within each exercise, her weekly classes are never the same and she even mixes in some humor. Alma's classes are creative and full of variety. Benny has tons of experience, corrects the little details and plays great music. Even in a 6-person class, Dani provides personal attention and a tailored experience. Benjamin kicked my butt with an hour-long springboard ab series and Tressa's morning classes are a great way to start the day. The 2-for-1 new client special is a good deal for those new to pilates or a good foundation for those already familiar. Flying Squirrel Pilates makes me feel welcome and I've never been stronger.

I’ve taken lessons at numerous Pilates studios in the city and finally found my undisputed Pilates home at Flying Squirrel. It’s an inviting space managed by Danielle King, who treats her clients with care and respect. Most importantly at FS I found my all time favorite instructor - Benny Oyzon - who is the only person on the planet who can get me to not only stick with the program, but also really enjoy the work, while getting stronger and even happier. I highly recommend the studio and Benny in particular.

I have been taking classes - group classes and private sessions - at Flying Squirrel for years now, and am healthier and happier for it. I initially went in because I was having lower back problems, but now, years later, their Pilates classes are part of my maintenance routine. Dani, the owner of the studio, is a wonderful teacher who works well with students at every level, and hires wonderful teachers who do the same. (Both my teenage children and my husband take classes, and they had never done Pilates before taking classes here.)

The classes will challenge you but they are safe and the environment is supportive. It is a lovely, non-competitive environment that I love returning to!

I’ve been working with Dani for over 8 years and the Flying squirrel team for over 4 years. The team is thorough and knows what they’re doing. The workouts are intense but relaxing. I can’t recommend this Studio enough.

My absolute favorite pilates place in NYC! The teachers are incredible, experienced, and so kind. I took my very first pilates class here 2 years ago and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere, how clean and well-equipped the studio is, and the quality of classes. Plus the results on my body, mind, and overall fitness have been incredible.

I love this studio! Dani (the owner) teaches an intermediate/advanced class this is incredible- super creative and super challenging. I like that the classes are small and all the teachers give really helpful alignment cue and tips. I never wonder if I’m doing things correctly- they always let me know. I definitely recommend Flying Squirrel to all levels of students.

I’ve been coming to Flying Squirrel for years and years. All the instructors make it a fun environment to exercise in. Dani’s knowledge of the human body, combined with her compassion is really second to none. She has gone above and beyond to help me keep, and increase mobility and strength, through my illnesses and surgery. Definitely the place everyone should want to come to.

So glad I found this place; it’s really such a gem. Instructors are great and the classes are small and intimate. Unlike other group fitness studios I’ve been to, Flying Squirrel Studios has a very warm, friendly environment and isn’t at all intimidating. Not to mention, it’s a really effective workout, and you will definitely see and feel a difference in your body quite quickly. Highly recommend!

Flying Squirrel Pilates is a fantastic place to do Pilates. The owner, Dani, is warm, professional, and expert in her craft. All the other staff members are certified and top rated. I have worked one on one with most of them. You can take both one on one or classes here. It has such an East Village vibe: low key, casual, yet serious about the craft. Not a cookie cutter and high pressured environment like so many other studios. A diamond. Please check it out. You will be glad you did.

I have taken several group classes at Flying Squirrel Studios, all have been excellent. This Pilates studio is welcoming and clean; class sizes are small so you get a lot of attention. Instructors are knowledgeable, kind, and unpretentious. They break down exercises to explain targeted muscle groups, proper form, and modifications. I am stronger thanks to this awesome studio!

Love this East Village gem! First time returning since the pandemic started. The class sizes are small (max of 5) so the instructors provide personalized feedback/ modifications/cheerleading. My body feels so much better since resuming Pilates and this inviting and supportive place makes it easier to commit to a workout routine.

I love Flying Squirrel Pilates. The classes are small so you get individual attention, and the instructors are all super knowledgeable. Every class feels different, which helps to prevent “workout boredom” and I always feel like I’m getting a chance to work new and different muscles to keep the whole body toned. The studio vibe is also really welcoming. I’d been away from NYC for a few years and was so pleased to find that this lovely place was still here, with some of the same instructors who remembered me and welcomed me back. It’s a small female-owned business that I’m glad to support.

This studio and its community have my heart. I’ve been practicing Pilates at FS since 2016 and it remains my favorite place to get a workout in. The teachers are well trained and thoughtful; the space is beautiful and intimate. Highly recommend.

As a dedicated yoga practitioner, I decided to try Pilates to help with some core strengthening and stability in my shoulders which were feeling weak in some areas of my practice. After working with Danielle privately I have a much better understanding of how to support weight bearing poses on my arms and a better connection to my core in general. I would recommend to anyone with a yoga practice that might benefit from a little help in the stability department.

What a great studio! Was traveling and took a class here with Dani. I was nervous taking a class at a new studio, but she was welcoming and the studio was clean and comfortable. I’ll be back next time I’m in the city.

The class was great and the staff was extremely helpful. When I told the teacher that I was new, she went out of her way to make sure that I felt comfortable and asked me if I had any questions afterwards. It made me feel at home, as if I had been exercising there for awhile, even though it was my first visit. I also liked that the class felt energetic enough that I had a really great workout, while the atmosphere of the studio was calm and down to earth. I will definitely return soon!

I’ve been going to this very special, intimate studio for years and was thrilled when one of its most skilled teachers took it over. This is the place I discovered an exercise practice that was compelling, interesting, and engaging and it will always be a “core” part of my NYC routine. See what I did there?

This place is a cute, intimate studio. I was surprised that you literally walk into the studio itself right when you enter and it reminds me of a nice, airy calm house. That is, if any of my friends had houses in New York and that is if they could afford not to cram it with all of their possessions, but I digress...

I took the 7am class here last Friday and it was a great, calming way to start the day. There were only 2 of us in class so I got a lot of personal attention from the instructor. There are plenty of stretches dispersed throughout the class, which was nice to prevent muscle soreness. And omg the foam roller at the end... my back was in heaven!

With regards to facilities, mats, bands, the aforementioned foam roller are all provided. Just bring yourself, your workout clothes, a water bottle and towel. There's a changing area in the back and a restroom behind the studio, but no showers. I wish I knew this before scheduling my big meeting at 9:30am that day... ah well, a note for the future!
