The lack of cleanliness is beyond disturbing that I forfeited my reservation within 3 minutes of my arrival. They do not see any issues. The elevator was the first red flag, which was atrocious. Shocking for me, this experience was.

Humming puppy is my happy place! I’ve been coming here for just over a year now and it has been the best experience. The classes are a perfect balance between calming and a challenging workout! There are also options for all levels of yoga experience which is super helpful. The ambiance of the studio adds to its soothing , serene vibe.

Apart from my “subjective” concerns about the class itself, the studio is extremely dirty. Inviting someone to sit on this share is insane, especially for yogis.

gorgeous studio but i got stuck in their own elevator for 10 minutes (which moves one floor every 30 seconds) called someone on the phone that i was lost in their building for 20 mins and she ensured my it was okay and i would be able to join the class. I arrive 3 minutes later any they didn’t allow me to enter.

I wanted this to be my home for practicing yoga, but the place was not clean, especially the bathroom and shower room, last time the shower gel bottle was empty and the bottle cap was open, 2 days after I joined the class, I still the same issue and dust are everywhere in the locker room. $247 membership we expect a clean and relaxed place. Please pay more attention to this issue. The location is convenient and the teachers are great.

Spent $30 on a class that did not offer any stretching- just 60 minutes of laying down on the mat with a blanket between the knees. Other classes here are good- beware of the “Mellow Hum”!

It’s okay, I like the classes but the mats are way too close to each other that you are on top of the other person and cant fully relax. Plus the mats towards the walls you can’t reach your legs and arms all the way because you hit the wall.

I was thinking to purchase a monthly until i saw it is the same price as my Chelsea Piers Fitness membership where I have access to a sauna, pool, group classes including yoga, and other amenities for the exact same price….actually crazy.

My absolute piece of haven in New York.

Its a studio where I feel everything is truly designed for customers to relax and turn off from the noise of the outside world and just unwind. Phones are not allowed in the class, the room is warmed up and there are blankets and pillows for support. The sound is really pleasing for the ears and it just naturally restore nervous system!

I travel to the city frequently for work and humming puppy is my go to studio. The staff are amazing, the studio is so cute and I always feel like the hum grounds me in a way that’s so hard to find when in the big bustling city. If you’re looking for your weekly flow or just a space to pop into for a class now and then, I can’t recommend humming puppy enough.

As somebody who has been practicing yoga for 17 years, this was not a great experience.

I agree with the other reviewer, who says the place seemed dirty, the smell from the class prior was really off putting. (I don’t like when places cram in classes with barely any time to air out, just to make a buck.)

During the class, the teacher gave zero instruction on alignment, (how can you in a such a huge room) the class felt rushed and I think the mats are too close together for $37 class fee.

Cold, meh and wildly overpriced would sum up my experience - Especially for the offering and smells. I’m seriously shocked how many 4 and 5 star reviews this place has…

If you’re looking for a proper yoga experience, rooted in yogic teaching and philosophy where the teachers and practitioners have soul, don’t come here.

If you are looking to seem “cool” to an overly botoxed crowd, spend double the amount of $ in a warehouse type setting, then this is it.

The class and studio is amazing. However I got skin rashes on my arms on 2 occasions while joining a class, probably due to the latex mat they provide which caused a reaction to my arms and back. I have also noticed that they use the same mats one after the other class so I hope it’s not because it’s not properly cleaned. I wish they informed me about this possibility before the session.

Restorative class was anything but. Bizarre attendee was breathing loud, heavy and so incredibly obnoxiously next to me there was no way to relax. Instructor did nothing to address this. When I took this up with instructor after class - she acted like this might have been out of the norm but said there was nothing to be done about it and I should have been the one (my first time there so how would I know) to get up and move my mat if someone else was being disruptive. While they seem to be very concerned about latecomers disrupting the space - they have no issues with distracting attendees once you’re in the room. So many other pleasant spaces to practice in NYC - looks like my first visit will be my last, since my only accommodation for having to endure this was a 10% off coupon for a return visit. Customer service needs so much help here. Also changing areas were filthy and cramped.

This is such a unique beautiful space. Clean warm and welcoming. Every-time I visit NYC I make it a point to book a class or take a trip in for a workshop. It is set up so beautifully and the community is amazing for NYC. The teachers are knowledgeable from multiple different traditional lineages. They also really focused cultivating relationships with students to aim to help deepen their practice. The subtle hum in the studio is just TOP tier.. can’t wait to go back soon.

This is my favourite yoga studio IN THE WORLD! 😂

The classes are great, really varied & unique to each teacher.
The space is beautiful, full of art & nice furnishings & very clean.
The equipment is a of a high standard & always very clean.
The studio is filled with a hum, which resonates at a frequency that is non intrusive but allows you to disconnect from the outside world & focus on your practice.

I love this yoga studio!

Humming Puppy used to be one of the best spots for yoga in the city but now it’s very run down and quite frankly, dirty.

I dropped in for a $37 Dynamic Hum class expecting a warm room, fresh towel for my mat, and an advanced practice…instead I got a cold room, very dirty mat, and a class for beginners.

It almost feels like a studio for rich housewives who enjoy the aesthetic of the studio rather than the content.

Maybe I’ve personally outgrown this spot but I won’t ever go back.

I’m beyond disappointed with this yoga studio. I signed up for a class, eager to unwind and find some peace. But, instead of zen, I found chaos and complete disrespect. The class was cancelled at the last minute, leaving me hanging with no warning. To make matters worse, they never bothered to issue a refund, despite several attempts to contact them. It’s as if my money vanished into some yoga void, never to be seen again. If you’re thinking of joining, just remember: they prioritize your cash over your wellness. Save yourself the stress and avoid this place like a downward-facing disaster.

I really want to like Humming Puppy but they make it hard to love. Was just getting past the issues in the past but they just stopped providing towels for use during class (making people buy one or rent one), or get shower towel after (but I don't use the showers). The mats are increasingly dirtier each time I come back, lots of debris on mat and floor. I've had contact dermatitis from these mats before so a fresh towel to cover before putting head/face down would be nice or advanced notice that they now charge. I went home to get a towel, they kept talking at me telling me I won't be allowed into class if I'm late, which of itself wasted 2-3 minutes. I got back with 2 minutes to spare, class didn't even start on time. What a joke. One of the reasons I felt justified paying $37 for a drop in class was not having to bring anything.

Humming Yoga is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of the city. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a sense of calm that instantly melts away the stresses of daily life.

The studio itself is beautifully designed, with soft lighting and serene decor that create a peaceful atmosphere ideal for practicing yoga. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced yogi, there's a class for everyone at Humming Yoga. The instructors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly supportive, guiding you through each pose with patience and encouragement.

One of the things I love most about Humming Yoga is the variety of classes offered. From gentle flow to power yoga, there's something for every preference and skill level. Plus, the class schedule is flexible, making it easy to find a time that works for even the busiest of schedules.

After each class, I leave feeling rejuvenated and centered, ready to tackle whatever life throws my way. If you're looking for a yoga studio that prioritizes both physical and mental well-being, look no further than Humming Yoga. Trust me, it's worth every moment on the mat.

I had the best experience! I loved the concept of the Hum and truly experienced the physical and cognitive effects of this. Loved the sound bath at the end of class. And, the yoga class itself was delightful. Dana was knowledgeable, patient, and I did not feel behind being my first class at this studio. It is rare to find a challenging class that newbies and yogi experts alike can thrive!

I NEED this in Boston and will do whatever it takes to get it there <3!

I really enjoyed this workout. It was a super nice serious yoga class. The free tea is amazing and the whole environment is very luxury. I was seriously shaking in parts of my workout, but I felt comfortable to take beginner breaks as needed. They have a coat/ shoe room & lockers in the bathroom.
My only warning is to be prepared to come face to face with walking alo yoga ads. Hahaha, but I guess that's the trend right now. I will be back when I have time!

This studio is worth every star. The space is immaculately clean. They always have freshly brewed tea. And they completely take away the hassle of bringing your own yoga mat, running to class early to get a good spot, etc.. The hum, the late policy, lack of mirrors, etc. isn’t for everyone, but for me and for many it is an oasis.

I really liked the vibe at the yoga class I went to. Everything was well-organized from the moment you entered the studio. I liked that when you book, you get a specific spot with a mat, so you don't have to worry about finding space. They also provide everything you need.

Each mat had a card underneath to let the instructor know if you need help or prefer to be left alone. But one thing bothered me - there were so many people. I've been in classes with 20 people, but here there were about 40, making it feel a bit crowded.

An oasis that honors the yogi culture and intentions. Clean, spacious, plenty of self lock lockers, locker rooms, and a lounge area to chat with other yogis. Price does reflect quality, I enjoyed my workshop and the variety of classes and events offered.
TIPS:
1. BE ON TIME. Show respect. Show up for yourself and honor the environment, your teacher and the community!
2. FYI this studio has a constant humming sound, set at a tone for healing. Doesn't bother me, but just a heads up!

Saw another one star review for the same reason. Impersonal & ruthless business. turns you away 2 min late at the door. Newcomers Budget an extra 5 min to get up the world’s slowest elevator. This “safe space” will turn you away at the door if you are 2 minutes late…. This reveals to me humming puppy does not care about your true mental well-being. You don’t know who these people are and what they had to put aside to walk into your studio. You are taking potential clients who are arriving to be positive, reframe the mind and elevate, but after being denied entry I feel taken advantage of, and that this studio doesn’t align to the right ethos... 👎🏻

Think the humming thing is a gimmick? Give this place a chance anyway because even if you don't care about the humming part, the studio space and instructors make this place worth it.

The physical space is lovely with high ceilings and big windows in the reception area, nice/clean/renovated bathrooms, and a spacious practice area. They set up mats and props for everyone and limit enrollment so you're never packed in the way it gets in some studios. The studio itself is dark and calming- the perfect place to chill out and practice some yoga!

A touch on the expensive side if you're not going for a membership, but otherwise definitely worth a visit!

I came to Humming Puppy in NYC as a visitor from Alaska. I am also a yoga guide/facilitator who has been a practitioner for 13 years, and I had only positive experiences in the week that I attending HP offerings. I appreciated the careful thought that went into the design of the bright and ethereal receiving area, and especially the focused design of the practice space. When entering the practice space, I felt like I was entering a cocoon with the dark walls and dim lighting, and the Hum provided a grounding atmosphere throughout the practice. I really appreciate that the practice was consent-based and trauma-informed. Cues were clearly delivered without any expectations or judgement for anyone to move beyond their comfort. It was also a bonus that all of the props were provided, making it accessible for travelers or folks who do not have their own. I loved the closing sound bath, it really transcended me from city bustle. If I lived in NYC, I would be a HP regular.

Over 20 years, I've probably done a couple hundred live classes and, over the past 2 years, plenty of online / youtube classes. I've been practicing yoga intensely and consistently for 8 years now (I say this not to flex, but simply as a proxy for the notion that I have standards), and this is hands down, the most wonderful place I've ever practiced. For me, its really the teachers - they are each gifted in their own way, and while they have their own styles, all clearly have a ton of experience and their expertise thus feels quite profound. The space is also beautiful; the studio is run expertly. But the teaching - I can't say enough about it, come and experience it for yourself if you consider yourself even the babiest of yogis.

Did this studio close permanently? I purchased a 5-pack gift card for a friend’s birthday in February and was told she would be able to access live-streamed classes during Covid. Not only has she not been able to do that, but both she and I have made multiple attempts to contact the studio by email, phone and text with absolutely no response! If you are closed permanently, then update your website and social media. And if you can’t honor gift cards that people paid good money for just a few months ago, then you should refund the money! This studio was recommended to me by someone who loved their Sydney location, but the experience has been extremely disappointing. If you closed due to Covid, that’s unfortunate, but some transparency and honesty would be appreciated.

I first fell in love with this studio in Sydney — it was my home away from home.

The space is safe & nurturing; minimal & light.

The Shala emits a ‘hum’ throughout the duration of each session. The hum is a vibrational frequency of the Earth that helps to ground you (read more on their website).

The instructors are extremely knowledgeable in their practice, mindful, calm & loving.

The classes are phenomenal — they range from slow & gentle to fast & challenging — so you can cater to which level of flow your body needs. The Mellow Hum is my personal favorite.

All of the equipment (mat, block, strap, towel) is provided & they offer complimentary tea and coconut water. The lounge area and locker rooms are elegant, clean and modern. They also provide hair dryers & straighteners!

Humming Puppy is BY FAR the best yoga studio I have ever attended. THANK YOU with all of my heart for creating this beautiful space with such beautiful people.

PS: the NYC location had the same energy/vibe as the Sydney location. I instantly felt comforted and at home.

Mats are really slippery and I did not enjoy how bright the room. Especially when on my back. The pot lights in particular. The tiered set up is great and the studio itself is beautiful. Staff are friendly. I would definetly recommend getting better mats though. This could deter alot of people or even promote injury if unintended slipping occurs.

Studio is GORGEOUS (that chandelier!) and I loved the class! Mellow Hum was literally EXACTLY what I needed yesterday. I was expecting a little more intensity but was SO happy it wasn't. Literally felt like I was meditating the whole hour.

Humming Puppy is a very special place for so many reasons! The atmosphere is fantastic and the facilities are beautiful. Most importantly the classes are great and the people make the place even better. I love the Shala (where the classes are held) and the “hum” is a grounding and balanced force during class. Thanks Humming Puppy!

A sanctuary in the heart of NYC! Conveniently located next to the subway, Humming Puppies is a serene break from the busy-ness of the city. The studio is eye candy and I love the mellow hum class which is exactly what I was looking for. A slow-paced, mindful, and restorative class which, despite the number of yoga studios in the city, is not easy to find!

I visited the NY studio back at the beginning of November and wanted to see how the studio compared to the Sydney location (where I live). The teacher was top quality and exceptionally vibrant. The woman working the front desk, however, really made the experience awkward. My booking wasn't coming up and since I thought I had paid, I didn't bring my card with me to class. She was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. I offered to purchase a class via the website or via apple pay and eventually ended up doing the latter. I was late for an appointment after the class because of this person's unwillingness to offer any options for payment and lack of tact altogether. She literally walked away to get a snack and handed me over to another colleague. It was a huge turnoff. Although the teacher was great, there are enough studios with lovely receptionists/teachers working the from desk and this really changed my experience in a negative way. I wouldn't go back to Humming Puppy NY.

What a truly stunning space -- the flowers, the crystals, the setup of the studio -- it all adds lux and zen to an incredible yoga experience. Tejal was incredible -- warm, inviting, peaceful -- a true holder of space, healing and life force.

I loved it. I’m typically heavy into weight lifting but due to recent health issues I’ve had to slow down drastically. The Mellow Hum class was perfect to cleanse and restore my body a bit and I look forward to taking more classes. The class was exactly what I needed and they make it so easy for you to come in and relieve your outside stress.

Honestly, I love everything about Humming Puppy. It's my happy place, my "me time" escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC. The class styles/levels and diverse schedule, the black tiered shala that hums and keeps me focused, the abundance of props available, the fact that there are no shoes allowed in the whole studio, the way the bathroom is set up, the wonderful hydration options for before and after class, the warm inviting reception area, and most importantly the dedicated teachers who love what they're doing just as much as I love being there. I recommend Humming Puppy to anyone who asks me about my exercise routine. It's not just the place I workout, it's my selfcare sanctuary.

this yoga studio is so beautiful, pleasant and luxurious. friendly staff and teachers. took 3 classes there so far and loved them all; instructors were knowledgeable and gracious. i was impressed by their aesthetic sensibility and how they've paid attention to the entire experience, end to end. Every detail makes it all the more immersive and relaxing: the continuous light hum during class, the dark room w/ subtle lighting, tiered flooring w/ properly-spaced mats, premium gear, tea and coconut water in reception and more. I haven't tried all their different classes but can't wait. Highly recommend it!

Bought a 3-week unlimited package deal and was very happy with all of my experiences. The ambience is fantastic, with the light hum and low light. The lounge is lovely, with both cold and hot beverages offered gratis—a perfect treat for before or after practice. Jen was the yogi for all of my classes and I very much appreciated her gentle tone and flexible approach. Will definitely be back.

Amazing yoga experience. This comes from someone who is not a yoga fan. I was attracted to this studio due to the studio design and the introductory offer. Turned out it’s just the kind of exercise i needed - love Mellow Hum! I came out of the class free from aching joints and muscles, more importantly, acquired a sense of serenity after an hour of ‘hum’ immersion. It’s good for our soul and body!

I've been coming here regularly since the studio opened. Prior to Humming Puppy, I had taken less than 10 yoga classes in my life. But since discovering Humming Puppy nearly 6 months ago, I've consistently come 3-4 times a week and am hooked. The space is serene, spa-like, spacious, and clean. The staff is friendly. While the instructors vary in style, overall they are all good. I've seen great results on toning/strengthening of the body and calming of the mind.

Stunning studio, good vibes, peaceful oasis in NYC.

I had an amazing experience at Humming Puppy, everyone was kind and welcoming. The studio is a breath of fresh air after a long day of work!

Larger than most studios, there is a beautiful lobby with water and tea to relax, locker rooms, and showers. The studio itself was a practical set up with different levels throughout the room so you can have a great view no matter what.

The coolest thing was the ”humming” sound that played throughout the whole practice to help with balance. In addition to the breathtaking studio, the instructor was clear and calming the whole practice.

I found this class a judgement FREE zone, everyone was accepted and challenged at any level of your practice. There was an emphasis on respecting how your body is feeling and trying your best.

This was the best experience I have had doing yoga in NYC so far, I look forward to being back soon!

Starting with the showers, optional towels, and personal lockers you can attend a class during your lunch break and start your second half of the day relaxed and fresh. The staff are very friendly and instructors are very experienced. And ofcourse the complementary tea or coconut water is an excellent touch. Absolutely loveing it!!! The humming sund could be uncomfortable at first but it definitely gets you relaxed as soon as you get used to it.

Awesome facility- beauticul studio comes with showers and nice scent of amenties.
Nice touch of complementary coconut water/tea cups by lounging area.
Studio is nice & CLEAN smells good.
Class is organized well- friendly staffs.

Be aware of STRICT class policy, not even 1 min late isnt allowed- unless the instructer hasnt started clock a dot.
I was stuck in subway 15min for no reason - usual NYC Ugh. 4min late without my will. Couldnt go into class like other workout studios- Respect their policy but it still sucks to go back home after make a trip on weekend.

I absolutely loved my experience at the Humming Puppy. First of all, the place is stunning! The lounge area felt like I was back in Paris and the yoga room was awesome. When I first went in the room there was a quiet humming sound that gave off this vibration that helped me get in a focused state and ready for the class. The staff was very friendly and the teacher was excellent. The class I took wasn’t too difficult or advanced but still challenging and gave me a great workout. I was drenched by the time class ended. The room was set in a dim light and not too crowded so you really could enjoy your experience. Although I definitely felt like I got a great exercise I left the class feeling super relaxed. After class they have tea and coconut water set aside for you which I thought was a very thoughtful touch! They have great locker rooms that don’t really feel like a locker room, the showers were equipped with higher end shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. They also had hair dryers and straighteners. Overall I had an amazing experience. Also they provide everything for you: great quality mats, blocks, and straps.

Wow. This was the most amazing yoga experience I have had yet and I’ve had quite a few. First of all, the studio is breathtaking and they’ve covered everything from refreshments to phone chargers. The practice room itself gives you a sense of relaxation the moment you enter it with the dim lighting and pleasant humming. Myda was my teacher today. I loved the unique sequence she designed with a perfect balance of effort and relaxation putting an emphasis on heart opening. Combining this with the humming sound bath, it created an emotional and euphoric experience. I am feeling more refreshed and connected than I have in months. I can’t wait to take my next class!

Amazing experience from the moment you walk in and until you leave. Post yoga makes you feel so amazing and more relaxed. Studio is beautiful and the people here are very sweet! They off drinks (water, coconut water, and teas).

Locker rooms are overall clean but a little tight and mats are little slippery, but putting a towel on each end helps a little bit.

Studio is very clean and organized as well and I loved the humming in the background. Towards the end of the yoga session, it was so relaxing I almost fell asleep.

This is a VERY nice and beautiful place with all (and above) amenities (lockers, showers, towels, props, water, tea, amazing lounge area). What i especially liked is the bookable mats (the same way you book your seat in the plane) and their signature "humming" vibration sound in the room. The only thing was that i would like the room temperature on the cooler side, but they state their temperature on website, so i knew what to expect .
