I don’t normally give Google reviews but thought Hal deserved one! I’ve been working with Hal for around 4 months doing a combination of strength training and HIIT and couldn’t be happier I chose to go with him. I wanted to get a trainer after finishing physical therapy and recovering from a hip injury as I wanted to get back into shape in a safe way. Hal has done a great job of working with me to manage my residual pain from my injury while still pushing me to get stronger. With his coaching, I’ve also been learning how to take the “ego” out of weightlifting, lifting in a more meditative/mindful way. I’m very much looking forward to seeing continued progress working with him in the coming months. If your New Year’s resolution is to get in shape, definitely consider working with Hal!

I’ve been working with Hal for 5 months and I am a completely changed man. When we first met for our consultation one of the things we said we’d work on was discovery. Hal has helped me discover how truly strong I was from day one. When we went up in weight on certain exercises I was very hesitant at first and by the last rep was I was in shock on how well I did. I didn’t believe in myself and constantly was in head over thinking and Hal helped me believe in myself and be chill. With his guidance and expertise over the past 5 months I’ve become extremely aware of my body and how it subtly reacts and moves while doing strength training and how the smallest of movements whether it be in my face, hips, or feet all have an effect on how I do certain exercises. Hal is like a wizard because he knows exactly when I’m slightly off somewhere, calls me out, and then I quickly am able to become aware of it and readjust to perform better. Over the 5 months we’ve been working together I’ve gotten so much stronger, gained so much confidence, and become very comfortable and happy with my body. Hal is worth every penny.

Was just noticing that after just a few weeks training with Hal, how much more balanced and strong I feel, even just moving around the city. This was one of my initial goals in training and it’s cool how I’m already getting there. I am also feeling stronger and more more knowledgeable about how to get as much benefit as possible out of exercise.
Hal notices everything during the sessions, and draws on his experience and the vast repertoire of movements in his head to modulate mid-session to make sure what I'm doing is challenging, doable, safe, and beneficial.

I cannot speak highly enough of Hal! I have been working with him on and off for the past 10 years or so. During quarantine I began consistently meeting with him virtually a couple times a week. Hal understands my body’s issues/limitations, and leads me through challenging sessions aimed at improving my range of motion and mind-body connection. Since I began working with him 3-4 months ago, my pain has decreased, and my strength and flexibility have increased, dramatically. I would highly recommend Hal to anyone, including if you are needing to work through injuries or chronic weaknesses/tightness. He will listen to your needs, and can tell just by watching you (via video conference, no less!) the slight adjustments that need to be made to make an exercise work for you.

Writing a positive review of my time training with Hal is a breeze. He communicates well and is patient, while being tough and empathetic and super knowledgeable. The ideal traits one should seek in a personal fitness trainer.

I found Hal while searching for a new trainer, after sustaining a moderate injury and a few mild chronic ones. He was able to share his extensive knowledge with me, including tips on how to correctly do exercises without triggering pain. In addition, his yoga teachings applied to weightlifting have been eye-opening. With his help, over the course of several months, I have seen my injury basically become nonexistent and those chronic aches few and far between.
(In addition to making those gainz)!

I highly recommend Hal for those experiences working-class athletes needing a boost or for those just starting out with weight-training.

I suffer from two disc herniations and have worked with countless trainers/PT/chiropractors. Hal has been a tremendous source of support and I have experienced noticeable strength and muscle retraining over the past 9 months that I’ve been working with him. Hal combines diverse physical work with neurological and psychological training. All three are necessary for the needed physical realignment I was looking for. I’ve been a happy client of Hal’s for almost two years now (I can’t believe it’s been that long). He has helped me go from being gym-shy, very insecure about my body and its capabilities, let alone my body image, and honestly fearful of exercise to a person I hardly recognize— someone who values their fitness and health, who is confident in challenging herself physically, and someone for whom regular exercise is absolutely a must. My body has changed tremendously but the biggest transformation is in my connection to myself and ability to trust. Hal has an enormous internal library of training techniques and skill sets as a trainer— in a heartbeat he can change our routine to match what I need (weights, yoga, kettlebell, etc) but he’s also extremely perceptive and aware of my level of presence and focus on my movements.
