I was ready to make a change In my life and was not sure where to start. I was always bad with a diet and when I would worked out it only lasted for a month. When I started with coach Steve he made it clear that he was going to give me the tools to be successful but I was going to have to put the work in. Since I have started a couple of months ago I am down 29 lbs, I am eating better, and I feel better all around. He gave me the push I needed to start my journey to a healthier lifestyle. As a caregiver to my father, single mother and juggling health issues…I was experiencing burnout, lack of self care and also knowing this could be effecting my daughters and my wellbeing all together. While I had been following coach Steve for a few years through his facebook JSFit page and always had the interest in signing on with him… I noticed he had worked with mother and daughter in training. I thought this was the perfect opportunity for my daughter and I to reconnect and learn to shift into a more self care, healthier lifestyle. I wanted to set the example for my daughter that this is something we can do when things get tough. Turning to a mentor and fitness is a great go to. Coach Steve was the perfect choice for my daughter and I. We went into this with poor eating habits… exhaustion, and some personal emotional stressors. Coach Steve always welcomed us in with enthusiasm and was extremely personable and professional. The amount of things we got out of 30-45 minutes with him took me by surprise the first few sessions.we always left energetic, sweaty, and feeling great! It’s not even just about the workout. Coach Steve helped us navigate through some extremely tough days… especially for my daughter who was facing some bullying. He genuinely took the time to help shift her mindset and feel more grounded and confident. With coach Steve we were able to learn balance and shifting our mindset… self discipline …mindfulness with gratitude …nutrition. My mind body feels more balanced since the day we started. My daughter expressed that she feels happier. We will never forget this personal experience together. Lots of gains from this experience that we get to apply to our life. Coach Steve is my first experience ever with a personal trainer. I am almost 44 years old and over the years I’ve paid for gym memberships I never used because of my comfort level using the equipment and being around people who know their way around a gym intimidated me. I’ve worked out at home but I lost all motivation doing the same workouts. I found Coach Steve on social media and followed him for bit and when I saw he worked also with couples I thought that would be perfect because I didn’t want to do this alone (nerves of course), my husband got on board and now we are both committed to seeing Coach Steve weekly. You tell him your wants and goals before you begin and he formulates your workouts based on your current abilities and builds on them each week. He helps you figure out what your nutrition goals should be and between both of those he gives you the tools you need to be successful. And probably the best part for me is I don’t feel self conscious like I thought I would. You’re so focused that you don’t even pay attention to anything but his directions and words of encouragement.

When I started with Coach Steve I was having a hard time walking around the block. I have severe knee arthritis and did not want to have a knee replacement. He was able to help me strengthen my knees and get the mobility back. I feel like I do not need to have surgery for now. I keep doing what he taught me and feel good about where I am. He not only help my physically he helped my emotionally. When I started seeing him I had just lost my Mom and then lost my Dad 6 months later. He saw me at my worst and was very patient and understanding with me. I not only have a great coach, but also a great friend. Anyone with mobility issues I highly recommend you try his program out before you decide to go for surgery.

The difference that diet and movement makes! Sleeping heart rate has reduced tremendously and I’m down 14 lbs! Movements are coming back to me that I haven’t had in a while. Don’t tell me you can’t do it. If I can, you can!

Special thanks to J S FIT for the functional movement training designed just for my special needs. Coach Steve is loved by all those who’ve seen my changes because of him and my continued effort. I recommend him for anyone looking to start at ANY fitness level. He truly has been the only person to make me feel not self conscious about how I move, he’s very intuitively aware of my trauma triggers, and I feel comfortably safe with him. As a person with severe anxiety, feeling safe is very important to me.

Food is important. Movement is important. YOU are important. Make time for yourself and love yourself enough to take the steps. 6 months ago, I was barely walking and struggling just to exist. Everyday is continued effort, but seeing the results is so WORTH it!

I worked with Coach Steve at J S Fit for about 6 months. Going into the program my goals were solely weight focused and to find someone who wasn't going to put me down while I worked towards my goals, but to assist finding ways that worked with my lifestyle and past knee injuries. After working with Coach for a few weeks, I identified that my goal really should be more of my mindset as without that the weight goals would not happen. A part of our work outs were just that, talking through some of the challenges and finding ways to work through them. When I was dialed in, I dropped weight fast through the program, but more importantly my mobility was the biggest help. Finding ways to exercise and move that wouldn't lay me up for 2 weeks with a swollen knee. When I started, I couldn't rotate the my arms in a full circle with the exercise band and eventually that was just an easy part of the warm up. I couldn't stretch the floor when I started and that was also accomplished through the program. Coach Steve works with you and finds your body's limits without causing injury or unnecessary pain. My work outs were scheduled on back to back days and at no point was I incapable of doing that because of his ability to recognize the proper limits. I highly recommend utilizing J S Fit if you are contemplating using a personal trainer.

Our son, Liam (16) has been training with Coach Steve for just over a year, he started on this functional training journey immediately following the recovery from his having a two-stage hybrid surgical procedure for his rapid onset of thoracolumbar scoliosis in late fall of 2022.

In this time, we have noticed a tremendous shift in his confidence as well as his overall self-esteem as he tends to be more reserved when sharing his diagnosis of Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) disease mostly because he spends so much of his time fighting to keep the mobility that he has left, that being what this progressive peripheral neuropathy has not already taken from him.

With that said, the changes in Liam's ability to build muscle has been noticed by the whole team of professionals including one of his service providers who is also an outdoor enthusiast that he walks with each week in that she herself has witnessed. Much like us, she openly values the work that Coach Steve has been doing with Liam as well as his holistic approach that comes from the mind, body and spirit as it has allowed Liam to be challenged in ways that he has never been in the past in that Coach Steve has gone above and beyond to make the sessions that Liam has more adaptable and/or individualized to his personal abilities.

We truly have been blessed in finding someone with the expertise and knowledge who through his holistic approach has been able to incorporate a bi-weekly routine while sharing the positive reinforcements that our son truly needs to be able to focus his energy on as it is through those moments in the behind the scenes sessions that spiritual growth has been discovered from within his this most incredible functional program that we know will continue to provide Liam with the strength to overcome the progressive demyelination of his peripheral nervous system (nerves) until a cure, or treatment becomes available.

Liam expressed early on that his goal is to independently walk across the stage to accept his diploma wheras from that moment Coach Steve has been able to create an exercise program tailored uniquely to meet his needs encompassing that goal, and so much more which means the world to us as his parents.

About a year ago I was at the point where I was tired of feeling like crap, falling over my own feet, and having no energy. I needed to make some big changes, but wasn't sure where to start. My friend suggested meeting with Coach Steve at JS Fit and trying personal training. I was very nervous before going for the first time. What if I was too out of shape to be helped? What if I injured myself (as I have in the past)? What if I couldn't do it? Coach Steve put those worries to rest after the first meeting. I could tell he is someone who genuinely wants to help people improve their health and he knows how to work with different people. He encourages you while challenging you and he's great at modifying exercises when needed. Every day is different and you can be doing anything from strength training, yoga, boxing, boot camp, etc. Since I started training, I don't trip and fall nearly as much as I used to. My hands don't give out as much so I'm not dropping things. I have more energy and have been able to start having a more active lifestyle. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to go on hikes or swim 100 laps. If you're at that point where you want to improve your health but don't know how to or don't think you can do it, go see Coach Steve and let him show you that you can do it.

Update 9/2024: When I said: Come on 2023! In my last review, I had no idea what it would bring! It did land be a broken left arm that could not hold a piece of toilet paper🧐 and a 3 month recovery to get back into the studio at JS Fit. With the help of Steve I have made tremendous progress to getting my strength back enough to ride my motorcycle! He picked up where PT left off. His knowledge of the body and how it works, where it's connected, and to what enables him to design a workout that is healing, healthy, and exactly what the body needs and wants to get back to whole and happy! Coach Steve’s holistic approach to fitness is one of a kind. He tailors his coaching sessions to what you need and your specific goals. This is not a one size fits all coaching style.

Over the last few years I had gained a significant amount of weight even though I was eating relatively well and exercising regularly. I hit a point on the scale and said, no more! I can’t continue to watch myself gain weight and feel tired all the time. I felt like I was doing everything right for the most part so I knew I needed something different.

I set out to create different habits and learn a new way. That’s what Coach Steve helped me do. I learned how to exercise and eat in a way that my body could respond better to. Most importantly for me was learning stress management through our sessions. I started to feel better and lose weight faster once I realized how much my mind affected my health.

In just a couple months I have lost 19 lbs and feel more balanced and energetic. Life in general doesn’t feel so overwhelming all the time. And if I have moments of anxiety and stress, I know what I need to do to get back to center. Thanks coach!!

I have been a member of JS for almost 6 months, when I started, I had goals to be stronger, happier, and healthier. I struggle with keeping myself accountable, especially when it comes to exercising. So, I started looking for personal training.
Coach Steve, has helped me tremendously. He is personable, professional, and very educated in his field. He bases my workouts around what my body needs to work on the most, some days it's balance, some days are strength, some days are to challenge my mind. All of them of fun and all of them are challenging. I am never bored. In fact, I look forward to training days.
Now, 6 months later, my body and mindset is stronger than it's been in years. Just wanted to write this review about coach Stephen and JT Fitness. I am 39 years old male and I started to notice I was gaining a belly, had weight gain and even had issues breathing when doing basic minor activities.

I came to coach Stephen about 4 months ago and have had an amazing time losing weigh, changing my diet and working on my mobility. Coach Stephen made coming to workout fun, and enjoyable. I had never really gone to the gym and was always embarrassed to go alone because I didn’t know the proper etiquette for working out or form. Coach Stephen quickly turned my doubt and uncertainty into confidence. His laid back yet focused approach was so easy to follow and like. He helped me with planning my meals and told me what was healthy for me to eat.

So far with the help of Coach Stephen I have lost over 20lbs in around 3.5 months. I was at 210 when I started with coach and am down to under 190 currently. I am getting married in a lil over a year and have a goal of 175-180lbs. I have no doubt working with Coach will see my reach my goals.

Coach is so easy to work with, and he really does hype me up to work out. Never made me feel bad, or weak becauseI was pretty out of shape and embarrassed of my lack of strength and breathing issues at my age. I am way more confident, and breathe so much better. Coach made losing weight and working out such an easier process than I had anticipated. He really took the fear and embarrassment away within the first few sessions! If you’re thinking about trying to lose weight, gain mobility or just be a healthier version of yourself, I would def call coach Stephen and get started! I’m so happy I did! When I started working with Coach Steve I was feeling an uncertain mindset and my 40 something year old body was feeling weaker… in my wrists, in my knees and hips. I was looking for a gym to restart my strength training and flexibility regiment. While researching several local HIIT programs, I came across Coach Steve and JS Fit. I’m not a client of Coach Steve. We’ve only met once about four months ago. But, he changed my life.
My husband Mich and I are in our mid 70s. We’ve retired after successful business careers. We were successful in terms of achievements, recognition and gains. But with all of that comes a very busy, stressful lifestyle that failed to include routines that feed the body and mind. My husband found himself under the care of seven different medical specialists… seven - for many disorders including heart failure, sleep apnea, cancer, etc. He found it difficult to climb one flight of stairs – to take a short hike into the forest with our dogs. A walk along the beach became too much. He was depressed, overweight and had a fear that things would just get worse. I shared those thoughts.
I knew that our diet wasn’t good… too much junk – potato chips, cookies, cake … too many carbs – potatoes, pasta, corn, bread.
Our exercise was limited. We took less and less walks and spent much of our time reading or watching TV. We knew it was wrong but lacked direction.
Mich talked to his doctors. He needed advice about diet and exercise. He had questions about the arthritic pains in his neck, back and hands. He was told walking is good and limit salt and fluids.
Mich has gone to traditional large gyms before but it never stuck. Even with the direction of a trainer we found the routines were not geared toward the needs of a senior who has certain debilitations. We needed help.
We eventually found Coach Steve at JS Fit in downtown Plattsburgh. We made an appointment to see what he offered. After some physical assessment tests and explanations about his approaches toward physical and mental health, Mich and I looked at each other and nodded in unison.
So, here we are four months down the road… the Coach Steve directed highway. Every morning we have our routines. We have a specifically designed exercise plan that we now both follow.
Mich has lost over 25-lbs. - I’ve lost 12-lbs following Coach Steve’s dietary 6 week plan that I have now expanded upon. Mich walks up and down the stairs now without shortness of breath. We walk on the beach – we walk in the forests with our dogs … we garden, work on outdoor projects.
Through Coach Steve’s thoughtful, encouraging, patient, expert tutelage Mich now possesses skills. We add new routines to our workouts and are constructing a small gym in our basement. This is a lifetime commitment. We have our lives back again.

I saw Coach Steve on Facebook and started following him. I loved his attitude, and his reviews were excellent. I decided to meet him. Best thing I ever did … He was what I needed. I loved his approach, and his background was an additional bonus. I struggle to stay on track when life happens. JS Fit is fantastic! I was having a difficult time finding the time or desire to go to the gym. A friend told me about JS Fit and I went to my first class (which is offered for free to let people check it out) and loved it. I like that you can tell your fitness goals to Steve and he actually remembers them and will remind you of them when your having a difficult time in the workout. I love that all classes are 30 minutes each, and you will be sore the next day. He shows modifications to all the exercises, so no matter your fitness level, you are welcome here.
