Place is a rip-off. They have a ludicrous "30 Day Cancelation Policy". We moved to New Jersey, and were just a few days out of this Cancelation Period. I explained to them we moved, and it would be incredibly difficult to come all the way into Brooklyn for a 45 minute boxing class. They simply said sorry, policy is policy. So they kept my $400. Unreal. You want to keep a Cancelation Fee of $100, fine, but to keep the whole fee is absolutely absurd! The trainers are cool, hence the 2nd Star, but when you have not so friendly customer business practices like this, totally unacceptable!

This place is the real deal. Carrie and all of the coaches are great and are coaching from real fighting experience. Made more progress in 5 months here than at any other gym I've been to. Great community, plenty of sparring, killer workouts, and the defense and footwork I'm learning here have totally changed the way I fight, even in other disciplines.
Edit: a year+ later, and this place only gets better and better. Carrie and all the other coaches aren't just the best boxing coaches I've ever trained with. They're also genuinely great people that actually care about their fighters and the awesome community they've built at Jukebox.
Another update: now open Fridays for adult classes and film study, and jeez, they just keep on getting better!

Did a New Bloods lesson with Adrian and had a great time! I'm not an athlete by any means (I was always an "indoor kid" and honestly didn't know what a squat was before today), but he took the time to make corrections as needed and slowed down a lot to explain every move/concept. I'm easily embarrassed by everything in the physical fitness world, but I didn't feel bad at all at the end of this - felt motivated to go back and try again!

We took an intro class with Adrian and our experience couldn't have been better. The space works great, he took his time explaining every move and the logic behind it. The structure of the class was perfect as well, with every section building for the next one. Overall a great experience. Great team, great space.

I first took an exercise class here. Their 12pm class is not boxing, but the trainer Brandon was great. Very knowledgeable and makes sure you get some foot work training in.
Later that month, I took actual boxing class with Carrie at 6pm. She’s great! She’s immediately warm and welcoming and has a fantastic sense of humor. I definitely got a good full body workout, and learned a lot. I’m a total beginner and I learned the different moves boxers make. It was an excellent first class introduction. I think the levels were mixed as some classmates were not noobs.
The space was clean it felt intimate but with enough room to not feel crowded. There are gloves you can rent and wraps to buy as well. I’m not fit at all, and I have some health issues which I informed Carrie of. I did modified versions of the exercise and worked up a sweat, but I didn’t feel dead at the end of the class. Overall it was a fun experience and I’d do it again. I recommend this to anyone wanting to try boxing.

TL;DR: Horrible boxing class with an unprofessional coach—it’s not actually boxing, just a fitness class with major safety concerns: no equipment checks, no warm-ups, no instruction, and no regard for prior experience. The coach was too busy acting cool, making jokes about smoking weed, and interacting with students in an overly familiar and unprofessional manner rather than focusing on training.
I attended the free class at Juke Boxing yesterday, and as someone with over 10 years of martial arts experience, including training in boxing gyms across the US and worldwide, this was by far the most unprofessional and honestly dangerous experience I’ve ever encountered in a so-called “boxing class” for beginners.
When you walk in, they take your name and hand you a pair of gloves, which they emphasize are free. The gloves “seemed” clean, but I can’t be sure. They don’t give you wraps, and when I specifically requested them, I was told they’re $15 but that I could have them for free if I left a Google review—ironically, the main reason I’m writing this now. After getting the wraps, there was no instruction on how to use them. I knew how to wrap my hands, but no one else seemed to receive any help.
From the start, it was clear there was no concern for safety or proper technique. Nobody checked if anyone had prior experience or if this was their first class. Nobody ensured gloves were on correctly or that anyone even knew what they were doing. The class began with picking up random weights and shadowboxing—without any stretching, warm-ups, or even a basic explanation of boxing fundamentals. No one explained what a jab or a cross was, let alone proper form. People were using weights ranging from 2 pounds to 10 pounds, with no guidance on what was appropriate, which is a recipe for injury, especially for beginners.
The coach, named Carrie (or something similar), was too busy trying to act cool, making jokes about how much weed she smokes, and interacting with students in an overly familiar and unprofessional manner to actually teach. Throughout the session, she and her team seemed more concerned with making Instagram content than teaching boxing. This wasn’t a boxing class—it was a poorly organized fitness class at best.
The class ended with the coach telling everyone to “exercise their demons” on a bag. This essentially meant a room full of people flailing wildly at heavy bags with no instruction, no gear fitted properly, and absolutely no regard for safety or technique. It was dangerous, plain and simple.
Bottom line: This is not a boxing class. You will not learn anything about boxing here. It’s a chaotic fitness session led by someone more interested in promoting their lifestyle than teaching. If you care about safety, learning proper boxing techniques, or having a professional experience, avoid this place at all costs. Perhaps it’s someone’s cup of tea, but if you’re looking to learn boxing or train seriously, this isn’t the place for you.

I just did my first class (first ever time boxing too!) and had a great time! Everyone was so welcoming and judgment free for my lack of experience! Very cool space and positive energy from everyone. Adrian at the front desk helped us with our wraps and made sure we felt comfortable before the class started and Brandon taught a fun, engaging, and challenging class that was a great mix of core workout and boxing. Highly recommend!! Especially for anyone new to boxing who's unsure if they want to give it a try!

It's been a while since I shared a review here so I am going to update my original one below from a few years ago. Fast forward and I am still going strong at Jukebox. In addition to coach/owner Carrie, there is a solid array of experienced coaches, all offer something a little different - from technique focus to strength building depending on the class - but you will always get an incredible workout. There is a strong sense of community and all the coaches are more than happy to help out with modifying a workout if needed to accommodate an injury. Highly recommend!
JukeBox NYC is a really special place to work out and train. Owner Carrie is super motivating, and she inspires you to train harder, be stronger, and above all take pride in yourself no matter what your level of strength or endurance is.

I love this gym. Carrie is a wonderful trainer, who changed my boxing practice top to bottom once she started to coach me. She's energetic, smart, motivating and she pays close attention to her students. It's clear that she cares a lot about her students, not only in their progress but in making sure that they are in a safe environment conducive to learning, and one that supports their boxing journey. It’s clear that Carrie has her students best interests at heart, and she ultimately wants to see them succeed. I really value this about Carrie, and it's that kind of support for the community that you don't find at most gyms, so it makes Jukebox my top choice for a place to workout.
Her belief in her students is unmatched, and the dedication, passion and commitment she shows to the gym and its community is truly incredible.

I spent over a year and a half at Jukebox going 5+ times a week. I participated in almost every extracurricular-outdoor classes, social events, and spar club/fight night. I felt like I was a staple member of the Jukebox community, and I think many others would agree. Take a scroll through the gym's instagram, and you can find my mug scattered across it.
That said, I was unceremoniously pushed out of the gym. It was very hurtful to feel cast out from a community I cared deeply about and actively supported.
I do feel this was a targeted, personal effort by the owner Carrie.
The core programming of the gym is great, but the facilities are lacking, the cost is heinously high (even for Park Slope). Worst of all there is a pattern of troubling behavior coming from Carrie.
As a result of my exit, as well as some other reasons, I cannot comfortably recommend Jukebox.
Membership information is intentionally obfuscated. Members are paying different amounts for the same memberships.
Here are prices as of March:
$279/mo for 8 classes
$349/mo for 12 classes
$599/mo for unlimited
After a year and a half of support, my unlimited membership tier was eliminated one week after being told I was "invaluable" in an email directly from Carrie--a rather naked scheme was deployed to price me out of the gym.
Ostensibly, the reason I was pushed out was "membership changes," but I am certain Carrie just didn’t like that I am friends with some former members and some former coaches. She believed that I was (and I heard this from several folks): “using my membership to steal members from her gym for former coaches.”
To play that back: she believes I was paying her $400/mo to…funnel money to someone else. This was during spar club–a program with an additional cost of $650. The mental gymnastics required to paint me as some kind of thief in this situation are olympic level.
Then there's some other questionable behavior.
Carrie often gossips on members, commenting on their jobs or their lives. She has a particular hatred for one member’s wife—she would repeatedly trash talk their marriage, even though this member volunteers regularly to help the gym. I regret ever sharing anything personal with her.
I’ve seen her fly into a rage at members. She would scream publicly at them, embarrassing them. She’s flown into these fits for such crimes as: wearing another gym’s tee to class, using handwrap gloves instead of handwraps, and the war crime of not wiping your shoes enough.
One of the more troubling things to me personally was how she treated me as a gay man. I felt tokenized. In class, she would tell me how cute I was and say I was “the hottest guy at the gym,” and had to keep posting "my handsome face" on the gym’s instagram. She teased me for talking to someone she perceived as attractive, as if there were no other reasons to talk to this person. This behavior flies in direct contrast to the inclusive space that “the only women-owned boxing gym in the city” purports to be. To be exceedingly clear: I have only felt discomfort in classes taught by Carrie.
A business practice that I found troubling was that payments for extracurricular programs didn’t go to the gym. Some went through her personal business Underwraps, LLC. I don’t know the level of legal entanglement with Jukebox and Underwraps is (if at all), but I was not comfortable sending the $650 for spar club–which took place exclusively at Jukebox–to Underwraps directly.
Given her behavior, I knew one day I would be pushed out. I didn’t expect having friends would be the reason. I shouldn’t have to justify my friendships to anyone—let alone to a place where I go to sweat and to punch.
She could easily feel a sense of pride for fostering this community. She could reward the people who support her. Instead she boxes with shadows.
If you’re looking for a gym with no emotional stakes at a quarter of price, look two blocks in any direction.

I initially joined Jukebox to get some regular workouts at a gym in my neighborhood. Little did I know I would get hooked and sign up for sparring and my first fight within the first couple months. It's no doubt the vibrant energy of the gym, the coaches and fellow members that kept me going for more. I learned so much in a short amount of time and it's all thanks to the amazing coaches that have a lot of fight knowledge and experience from their respective careers. Not only are they seasoned but they are also passionate about the sport and sharing what they know. I've trained with all the coaches at the gym and everyone has been attentive, generous with their advice and genuinely supportive of the people they train.
The gym culture as I've experienced it has been nothing but welcoming, warm and positive. I also felt accommodated during days I did not feel my best so there was never any pressure to push beyond my limit if I didn't want to. Other days though they'll make you work and that's why I go.
Overall, I'm really happy to have found this gym and thankful of everyone I'm training with there!

This may be an extensive review, but I have to share it. Stepping into Jukebox was a turning point for me, especially after my liver transplant. I joined the gym a few months after I was discharged, and from day one, Carrie, Mike, Victor, Alex, and the other coaches embraced me with genuine care and support. Their kindness extended beyond the coaching, nurturing my physical and mental well-being in ways I hadn't imagined.
Each class became a highlight of my day. Their guidance propelled me forward, leading me to recently compete in Spar Club's Fight Night! That night marked a milestone, a culmination of the journey that Jukebox kickstarted.
Beyond the physical gains, Jukebox fostered a sense of community and empowerment that transcends the gym's walls. It's not just about the workouts; it's about the relationships forged and the confidence gained. Jukebox NYC isn't just a gym; it's a sanctuary where transformation happens, both inside and out. Grateful doesn't begin to cover it.

I have been a member of Jukebox for a year and I am so grateful for this gym! Carrie has created a space where everyone can feel safe getting into boxing. Prior to joining jukebox, I had long dreamed of starting boxing but what I thought of as “real” boxing gyms intimidated me and I wasn’t really looking for the trendy group workouts offered at other gyms. Jukebox is a REAL boxing gym, it’s appropriate for all levels and whether you are a beginner or have been boxing for a long time or fall anywhere in between you will be pleased with the coaching, classes and private sessions offered at Jukebox. From the moment I first joined I felt welcomed by the staff and the members, everyone genuinely wants you to succeed and meet whatever goals you have set for yourself.

Jukebox NYC is absolutely wonderful. I am new to boxing and quick to shy from situations that make me uncomfortable, so I wasn't sure how I would feel about walking into a new gym. I am happy to report that the owner, coaches and members all made me feel very welcome and accepted. I don't live in Brooklyn anymore, but visit frequently. The gym worked with me to figure out a trial membership that allowed me to continue to box while away from home. And even though they knew from the start that I was not going to sign up for full membership, I have been very warmly received each time I walk in. And there is more! I do not like to do 'partner work'. It scares me. I spoke with Carrie, the owner, and she immediately suggested things I can do instead, and also mentioned that maybe I could try a little 'partner work' with her, so that I work towards feeling safer, more comfortable. And so I go into class and work on the bag, maybe do some punches with a coach, and make all the accommodations I need- no judgement, all support. It is a fantastic workout and a really fun atmosphere. And so, I most heartily recommend this woman owned gym. It is a happy community coming together to be fierce and support each other at the same time.

I’ve been coming to Jukebox since the day it opened and it’s by far the best boxing club! All the coaches are amazing, everyone has their own style which allows you to learn so much from every single one. Not only is it a fantastic workout, but the gym has a real sense of community that you don’t find in other places. I’ve made friends for life at Jukebox and I’m constantly bringing my friends that don’t live nearby to try it out. Whether you are a seasoned boxer or you want to try your first class, I can’t recommend Jukebox enough!

I spent years supporting this gym. Because I liked the classes, I tolerated Carrie's occasional outbursts of rage and abusive behavior as long as I could. I did call her out once and she broke down into tears and apologized. When it happened again, I decided I would just take any classes but hers.
I continued on until this last weekend, when I was denied access to Jukebox. No explanation was given until this morning, when I was given an impersonal email that claimed my membership was terminated because of "recent complaints from both male & female members and coaches of disruptive & aggressive behavior, specifically instances of aggression towards female members of the gym leaving them to feel unsafe during class. This constitutes a severe violation of our code of conduct."
There is no truth in this--not even an ambiguous moment I can wonder about. But obviously it's hard to dispute, since Carrie claims that no "details can be given to protect members."
The only conclusion I can draw from this is that in simply putting up boundaries between me and a person I deemed to be unhealthy, I enraged her to the point where she needed to hurt me and exile me from the entire community. It's honestly heartbreaking. I was with this gym from the beginning and put over 10 G into it. And I never said an unkind word about Carrie. I just didn't want drama. That was the point.
Also worth mentioning is that I was invited to drop in for sparring the final week. I was told I would be given headgear and protection but then, after paying 80 dollars and wrapping, was told actually there was none left for me...and me alone. I was punched in the face four times without protection before being frozen out forever. I thought it was weird at the time, now I guess I get the message. Chef's kiss for absolute cruelty.
It goes beyond unprofessional. This place is not inclusive, positive, or safe.

Stumbling upon this boxing gym while strolling down 5th Ave was truly the best gift! The coaches are some of the best around, from the moment you walk in they make you feel welcome and truly care about technique and helping you improve each and every class. Each class is somehow better than the one before, and if you are lucky enough to take one of Carrie's classes you will feel on top of the world after. The world needs more places and coaches like what you find at Jukebox! Not to mention such a good workout🥊

I recently tried Jukebox in Park Slope to jumpstart healthy workout habits in a supportive community. I've done boxing in the past and have worked with Carrie in a different setting and was excited to get started in this space.
I signed up for the 7-day New Bloods pass in the beginning of the year that included, firstly, an introductory class with a coach before you start your free week, and then you get to select which week to avail of.
It was a bit tricky in my case as I had a lot of big personal emergencies pop up during the time of the sign up, which affected how and when I could sign up for the upcoming discounted month they were offering to roll newcomers over into. In my experience, there was also confusion in the materials (emails, website, app) over pricing, logistics and process of signing up, as well as in our in-person conversations, and had to work with them to clarify some miscommunications and figure out some solutions over refunds and unmentioned refund fees and such.
That being said, I am still giving them 5-stars for the quality of the classes themselves. In the few that I look, I loved the energy in the classes and the coaches were great teachers. They truly push you while encouraging you and I felt really empowered. As a beginner, there were times I felt a bit intimidated and lost, but the team and the other students showed me the ropes and put me at ease, so I felt really motivated to keep showing up and just try my best.
If you want to really grow in your wellness journey and have a place to go to where you are challenged not just physically but mentally in the best ways possible, this is a great place to do it! I really feel that the JukeBox community will get you to reach your goals and beyond!

I bought my son the new blood package that they advertised it came with 1 day new blood as the introduction then 7 day trial
The problem with this company is online you can sign up but the don't show you the current availability and what the trainers schedules are. I bought this for my son to try out in hopes of him joining as a Christmas gift when I signed him up they didn't have any availablity the following week for teens for Christmas so I'm thinking okay the following week should be fine. That was a no go they sent a email saying they was out of office for a week. I'm like ok so I'll just push his gift the following 1/6 he goes he have a great time. Here's where things are tricky they want to rush the 7 day trial to 7 CONSECUTIVE days which isn't even feasible for a teenager because they have a limited schedule of only 4 days a week. Now instead of them just honoring the remaining 3 days on the next days that are available Carrie was very stern on either you get 4 days or your money back. She proceeded to just give me my money back without me even asking for it! I wanted my son to be apart of this due to him having fun but it's unfortunate that instead of her just simply moving the trial dates around she just canceled the whole thing. I feel she only refunded me because she didn't want to deal with it and since it was free they would rather book the paid ppl first than the others. Simply said it's not enough staff to meet the demand. I wasted my time, my son time & goin back and forth with no conclusion now I have to find another boxing place

In the first few sessions I attended, I could tell immediately that this was not just another gym. This is a community of people who motivate and encourage one another. What is better than having cheerleaders and positivity? Other members support one another and are compassionate towards new combers. I felt comfortable from the start. The workouts are great and the instructors are very knowledgeable and provide quality classes with challenges. If you like the high that boxing provides, look no further you won’t regret it!

The only gym I’ve ever attended where not signing a membership form has resulted in me having a membership. Buyer beware- make sure to read the fine print if you participate in the new member promotion. Confusion between platforms is preyed upon to charge you $240, even if you decide not to move forward. It’s a textbook bait-and-switch; avoid at all costs.

Had a 1 on 1 session with Coach Jonathan and it was awesome, everything I hoped for. Part of the newbie special so really well priced and Jonathan is clearly passionate about what he does. Session started with understanding my fitness level and experience and then we got right into it. Perfect balance of patience without coddling me, I could barely lift my arms by the end (and I wanted to feel that way)
Ran home and worked with Max at the front desk to take advantage of the Welcome Membership options. Had a lot of questions and Max was super responsive. I opted for the VIP class option and can't wait to work with Jonathan again - but will probably check out some of the other trainers and maybe even one of the group classes. Will report back but I expect nothing but the best after the great first impressions Jonathan and Max made

In full transparency, I haven't been to this club, so can't comment on the classes or community. However, their website provides no helpful information, they try to pretend that a 20 minute introductory class plus 10 minutes of solo work is a $75 value, and when I reached out for additional information, they were quite rude. Not a great start...

This is not "a gym"... it's a certifiable ARSE-KICKING BOXING COMMUNITY!!! No judgements. Just SWEAT, SMILES, & PURE SATISFACTION!! The support I get in reaching my goal is undeniable (new wardrobe, nothing fits anymore). Coaches are the real deal who have seen boxing ring action and provide personal attention to all members (Jukebox, where everybody knows your name). I walk into class tired from work, but always walk out invigorated, less 800+ calories, and can leap up subway stairs (u know the ones I'm talking about). These aren't "gym" cardio boxing classes...you will punch bags (and they sometimes punch back), spar with a partner, and be challenged every second to push yourself...and absolutely ❤️ ❤️ every moment of it. You get back as much as you give (x100) at Jukebox with Carrie and her amazing supportive team!

Want a good workout. Want to try boxing. Or maybe improve your boxing. The lady that owns this gym is the real deal and she has hired 5 other boxers who all have their own style and will improve your fitness and boxing skills. Promise - I have been a member for 3 years meeting lots of great fellow students many of who still humble me. But our coaches know how to make getting better fun. The cleanest most welcoming gym in all of Brooklyn that will challenge you lie no other. Drop by and give it a try - you will be glad you did.

No other studio offers a class instructor that cares about your form as much as Jukebox does. I've been to Overthrow, Gleason's, Church Street, Rumble, and Shadowbox, and Carrie by far is the best instructor. I know it's difficult to give students individual attention in a class, but Carrie made sure that my form was right - showing me several times and correcting me throughout the session. As a beginner, I really appreciate this because I can get fitness/cardio anywhere, but if I'm going to do a boxing workout, I want to get the form down and actually learn about boxing, then add in speed on top of that. Carrie has unparalleled energy and is extremely enthusiastic and motivational. I get the sense she really cares about the people who come in - whether you are a regular, drop-in, or classpasser. I just took one class with a new instructor, Diego - and he had great energy too. I'm looking forward to going more consistently!

You want to learn how to fight, then this is your gym. Carrie has been my coach since I was in Amerikick. She does not play. This is not a joke to her and she really cares for her students. When she was teaching only twice a week at Amerikick, I felt like I needed more than just a workout. I wanted someone like her to teach me her techniques. Luckily one day we were talking and she told me about her opening her first boxing gym in the neighborhood. I was so excited. I have been here since day 1 with her and I LOVE IT. Not only do we get a workout but she actually teaches you the RIGHT techniques. I have been doing personal training with her and its the best. Jukebox is a phenomenal place to train. I was initially looking to learn self defense but quickly fell in love with boxing because of how great all the coaches are! They genuinely care about you and teach you everything the right way. I was pretty nervous in the beginning but quickly felt at home because the environment is comfortable and positive. I have a crazy schedule and had a hard time finding a place that works with it. However, I'm happy to have found Jukebox because they offer different classes and times; from HIIT to boxing/kickboxing.
Jukebox is the place to be if you want to live up to your full potential; whether it's boxing or kickboxing. The coaches see it in you and want you to strive to the top!
Just want to give a huge shout out to Carrie, Josh, Mary, Eric, Omar, and everyone at the gym, because they are always amazing! I definitely recommend Jukebox 100% and you won't regret it, promise!

Jukebox is the community I didn't know I needed. I initially tried Jukebox because of their early morning class times. If I am able to find strength in my morning routine, I can carry that feeling with me throughout the day to take on anything. I admittedly can achieve the bare minimum of this feeling at any boxing gym by pushing myself, even at places that throw you on a bag and ignore you. But what differentiates Jukebox for me is the frequent partner work. Carrie genuinely cares about the well-being of everyone who sets foot in her gym and has cultivated an encouraging team of fighters. By doing drills with different people every morning, I am constantly challenged to build upon my technique and improve my fitness far beyond what I could accomplish on my own.
I also highly recommend checking out HIIT with Mary. You hear about how important strength training is as often as you hear stories about how easily you can hurt yourself doing it. Mary demystifies weight training by explaining the purpose behind every movement and checking to make sure you are doing it correctly.

If you want results and a good time, look no further! I used a Groupon at Carrie’s previous gym having no idea what I was getting into as a first time kickboxer, and there was no turning back. I followed her to her new amazing gym, Jukebox, and would pay top dollar for this!! She is motivating, teaches precision, and gives you an amazing workout. Coming from a dance background, I like the challenge of perfecting my technique and she is very attentive to those details - but she will also let you punch it out, which is another reason why I love her. Each class is different from the rest, the music is loud, (and it’s better to punch a bag than a person)!! Also, Mary teaches a slammin’ HIIT class with TRX, agility, and high intensity combinations that is not to be missed. Overall, there is a great community of people here and you feel and see results.
