Not enough space for floor training. The dedicated areas that are there constantly have classes at the same time. Recommend better coordination. Also the locker rooms kinda smell bad for what it’s worth.
Lastly, the punching bag is in a bad spot taking up floor space

There’s just no reason why this location should be the premium tier at $330. The weight room is tiny and always packed to the brim, with not nearly enough equipment. There’s literally only one leg extension machine and the other day it was broken. Can barely even hit a proper lift. I’ve seen lifetime locations that are far cheaper with 15x more space and amenities. Only good thing here is the spa area.

Worst gym membership experience!!!!!!
I live in Sky which it connect with the life time. I got my membership yesterday and asked the front desk if I can bring my guest with me today to swimming together. And they said yes. So my friend finished her work and came to place and now the front desk says I can’t bring my guest 2 hours before they closed??!!!!! Who made this policy? And why when I got my membership yesterday nobody told me the truth? And this is really not like a high end gym. Why I can’t bring my friend 2 hours before it closed? Is my friend will eat ur gym? This policy really doesn’t make sense, and front desk aren’t nice when they explain to me. This thing makes me look bad in front of my friend because the front desk didn’t tell me anything.
I suggest to change this policy and I deserve an apology!!!!!!

The facilities are great. But honestly, if you expect a spacious place with an outdoor pool on such expensive land, it would cost way too much. Instead, even though it’s smaller, everything you need is here and I’m very satisfied.

Internal Pool is the best part, you can reserve a full lane for an hour. Havent tried the classes, but the workout area is quite limited - I would end up going to 23rd or Penn for more equipment options and space. Men’s showers are pretty bad for the price point - doors and showers are janky, water is either hot or lava, and I believe they have werewolves showering there given the amount of hair by end of day. For $300+ would expect better.
Overall not terrible, just make sure to try out before signing.

I went here on a guest pass. My understanding is that this is the largest lifetime. It has a lot of things and amenities like large co-ed steam room, sauna, hot tub, and indoor pool with 3 short lanes on the ground floor. The cold plunge is a little smaller. There is a heated outdoor pool on the rooftop and cardio/weight equipment, along with a cafe. It feels a little maze-like, is busy on weekends, and feels a bit like a scene. I liked the recovery equipment and locker rooms with kiehl’s soap and massage guns. The steam room smells intensely of eucalyptol or menthol. I wish there were constant or easy to turn on showers near the pool/sauna/hot tub etc. because otherwise I don’t think there is any instruction or easy shower before entering.

This gym is a huge disappointment, especially for the price. They don’t even have basic equipment like a seated leg curl machine, and the machines they do have are constantly broken. The spa is filthy and overcrowded—I was disgusted seeing hair floating in the cold plunge every time I went. On top of that, guest service is dismissive and unhelpful. For a “premium” gym, this location feels neglected and poorly run.

You would expect for the price you would expect a quality environment but I’ve received burnt food, half assed cleaned bathrooms. What’s the point of creating a work place area with the music being loud there compared to the rest of the gym can’t even hold a meeting over the phone with the music playing there. Now the work area closes at 8 ? Why can’t we utilize the space quality at this location just gets worst and worst.

This is a review of the swim coaching. Just did a private swim lesson with Jo Jo and was excellent. Quick discussion on what I was working towards and then got straight into it. We made sooo much progress it was amazing. Jo Jo's a fun guy and great at explaining concepts. I enjoyed his car analogies, they all made sense and I'll remember them. The pool is quite small but for a lesson on technique I'd say it's ideal because you save time and energy. For me , I was trying to improve efficiency for longer open water swims and long pool swims for triathlon and that one lesson has set me up perfectly. Once I've got some miles under my belt I'll return again to take it to the next level. Thanks Jo Jo, great session!

This review is for the Sky Deck/Cafe portion of this club.
One of the worst places I've ever been to.
Overpriced, unclean, and the general air of apathy from the present staff leaves much to be desired.
Extra charge for weekends but weekends are dreadful, with no DJ, no real amenities, and no additional service for the—massive—extra charge.
Cafe is slow as molasses, usually just one worker and one cook, so food takes anywhere from 10minutes to 1 hour. The cherry on top is the Grade Pending from the Health Department.
Inconsistent service.
Sometimes there are specials, sometimes there aren't. Wings only Monday and Thursday, but only SOMETIMES depending on the cook.
Gratuity was not included in the beginning of the Summer, but now all of the sudden it's mandatory on all service items.
(However, unless you're renting out a reserved seat, then good service is certainly not mandatory.)
Used to have poolside service but now you have to walk up to the bar to get service...however if you're a favorite, you'll get whatever you need.
Favoritism is clearly rampant here.
The pet policy is interesting, as guests will bring their dogs and leave them unleashed. No clue how that's allowed in a public pool.
I could go on and on. Don't even get me started on the prices.
Menu items are not the same price upon completion of transaction. They advertise frozen drinks but it was never available all summer.
You spend over $20 on a cocktail only to see it served in stained dirty glassware, bruised garnishes, and inconsistent recipes.
Might as well hand somebody $20 to slap me in the face, oh but don't forget the tip.
ALL of these issues are just within this particular summer season, btw.
A total nightmare of an establishment. Save yourself, and go elsewhere. Trust me.
This place does not deserve your time or money.
Oh, but the views are nice!

THIS ISN’T A ATHLETIC COUNTRY CLUB IT’S A MASTERCLASS IN ABSURDITY!
I’ve worked in the hospitality industry for years. I’ve been in and around some of the most exclusive venues in Saint-Tropez, Miami, Cannes, Paris, Dubai… and never not once have I seen a policy as unreasonable as the one this gym enforces.
$330/month membership, and then I’m asked to pay an additional $250 just to access the rooftop pool.
And today a perfect Sunday where I finally carved out a moment for myself (after working 7 days a week non-stop) to relax, read, and enjoy the sun I’m told I need to pay another $150 if I want to use the pool on the weekend.
IT’S A JOKE !?
At that price point, I expect the full luxury club experience: a DJ, food & beverage service, champagne options, elegant paper menus, a dedicated champagne list, trained staff, real ambiance something that actually makes me want to spend my money.
Instead?
A few lounge chairs. A pool. That’s it. Not exactly impressive, to be honest.
Now let’s talk about the staff: untrained, uninformed, clearly uncomfortable when it comes to explaining the gym’s own internal policies. Every time I asked a question, I got the same reply:
“It’s my first day.”
And here’s the best part I heard that four times in three weeks… from the SAME person.
The audacity is next-level. I get it, the gym sees a lot of members, but telling a regular member four times that it’s your first day? That’s prank-show material. Someone cue the hidden cameras.
I guess it’s a tactic to avoid having to face clients when the rules are indefensible.
Please, take the time to revisit your policies, your understanding of “luxury”, and most importantly, what real hospitality actually means.
There are other gyms in NYC at the same price point that provide far better service, without trying to squeeze every last dollar out of their members with nonsensical add-ons.
And if you’re struggling to understand what serving a high-end clientele truly looks like, feel free to reach out.
You can drop your email as a reply to this review, or contact me directly.
I’d be happy to offer you a personalized audit, or even set up a meeting to show you how to double your revenue by applying a few simple, hospitality-based principles without having to frustrate your members with absurd and counterproductive ideas.
PS : The photo added to the commentary shows you your empty pool on a Sunday afternoon under a spike of heat and a great sun by the cause of your absurd choices.

Ridiculous. Been a Lifetime member for years. Started at $250/mo and somehow it’s snuck up to $320 without telling me. That would be fine outside of the fact that this location is a complete money grab. 3 times in a row now I show up to use the outdoor pool to get turned away, only for them not to even inform the rules:
First time “oh no problem you can use a guest pass to get access to the club, but if you want them to come into this pool it’s a fee,” “okay great what’s the fee?” “$150 to acces the roof pool” haha okay later
Second time: come here Saturday night after a weekend work day at the office, “oh sorry your membership doesn’t cover weekends” get turned away.
Third time today (on my birthday no less): run here from greeenpoint cant wait to hang in the sun and relax (today, 2pm on a Friday). “Oh sorry sir your membership is only Monday to Thursday…..” “can I not spend 30 mins here to just chill? This is ridiculous” uhh no you can’t sorry.
Egregious money grabbing behaviour across the board, cherry on top is the $16 protein shakes. Cancelling my membership

it's a beautiful setting and at first glance, a lot to recommend.
At $350 per month though (double most other gyms), you expect a little more.
Two biggest gripes:
1. Way way way too crowded. Probably not local management's fault entirely since I think Lifetime is publicly traded and they answer to shareholders. But if you need to go either early morning or after work, you won't be happy.
2. Connected to above- the showers/lockers/pool areas are a mess given the volume of people coming through. Too many members don't have the sense to put their towels away and leave them on floors next to locker or on benches. Who the hell raised these people?
Edit July 2025
The aforementioned is 10x worse in the summer. My goodness- what is the point of having a pool offer if there are literally hundreds of people surrounding a pool that can comfortably fit maybe 50.

This gym helps us get stronger every day! We love the Alpha classes. The workout-programming is challenging but doable, and the instructors are super dedicated and patient, even with beginners like us. We've gained 3 pounds of muscle in just six months, more than with any other program. The gym, the people, and the space are so inspiring, we happily walk over 20 blocks to get here every day.
The front desk team - Chris, Meghan, Brian, Vincent, Mitch, Nya, Joel, Ashley and Griffin are so warm, welcoming, and efficient. Their unfailing kindness always make our visits somehow even better.
We also really enjoy swimming laps in the indoor pool, especially after a hard Alpha workout, and when the sunlight hits the water in the afternoon. The staff maintains the pool at a perfect temperature. The water club with the renovated steam room and cold plunge are a great experience.
Membership here also gets us access to Lifetime gyms at Penn1, 23rd St, Midtown, NoHo and DUMBO, all of which have great classes we have tried out over the last year. We have tried out several gyms in the city and Lifetime ranks amongst our very best.

Mixed Experience - Great Facility, Poor Management Communication
We've been members for nearly two years and have generally loved this gym - the facilities, amenities, and overall experience have been excellent. However, our recent attempt to rent a cabana exposed some serious communication and customer service issues that left us disappointed.
I tried to book a cabana rental a full week in advance for a friend's birthday celebration on what would be a slow Monday. Despite multiple attempts through the booking system provided by management, I never received any confirmation emails. When we followed up in person and by phone, we got inconsistent information and were passed between different staff members - front desk to management to pool to cafe and back again, with no resolution.
The most frustrating part was discovering that the manager responsible for cabana rentals was actually on-site during one of our visits but reportedly "luxuriating" and unavailable to help paying members trying to spend over $400. We waited 30 minutes for assistance that never came. After a week of this runaround, we had to make alternative plans.
When we did show up with our guests using day passes, planning to spend $200+ on food and drinks instead, we were treated poorly despite the booking system issues being acknowledged. Staff insisted on additional guest fees even on a slow day with bad weather, showing no consideration for the week of poor service we'd already experienced.
What's most disappointing is that this could have been easily resolved with basic communication and customer service. A simple phone call, email confirmation, or manager availability would have turned a loyal member's special celebration into positive word-of-mouth instead of this review.
The facility itself remains great, but management needs to address these operational and communication issues before they damage what has otherwise been a positive member experience.

Horrible experience at a gym I’ve called home for almost two years. I tried to rent a cabana for Monday 5/19. I inquired about the rental a week prior, as it was supposed to be for a friend’s birthday. Even though the pool area had just opened that weekend and I wanted a cabana rental for a slow Monday morning, I wanted to ensure that everything would be perfect and that my friend would be impressed. Unfortunately the exact opposite occurred. The front desk directed me (5/13) to Nicole, the new manager, who responded to my email the following day with a link that I was to use for cabana rentals. So I did, filled out the details, and assumed I’d get a confirmation email. I waited for a couple days and received nothing. I then called and reached Nicole by phone and she again told me to use the link, which I did AGAIN, and still received no confirmation. Saturday 5/17 my partner was at our gym and inquired once again at the front desk and was told that Nicole was not in that day. Then he went to inquire at the cafe and was given the run around, waited for 30 mins. The truth is she (Nicole the new manager) was there that day, but luxuriating, confirmed by another staff member. I guess she got word that we were quite diligent about the rental, having not received any form of confirmation. And so she sends an email Sunday….the day before to confirm a cabana rental that I tried to book a week prior for a slow Monday…so obviously we had already made other plans for my friend’s birthday. After having breakfast we show up at the gym, and I bring my friend plus 1 as guests as we still had the day open. I figured we’d run up a bar tab, get food and pitchers of margaritas since I’m still proud of what used to be an awesome lifestyle-gym…let’s just say I was beyond embarrassed by how the staff treated my friends, and Nicole did nothing to help. She did admit that the system for booking cabanas was down, which *i guess* explains the lack of communication? Not. Poor management. No apologies. We had to cancel our food and drinks bc Nicole wanted my friends to pay $50/per person for rooftop access even tho it was dead, weather was bad….on top of $200+ worth of food and drinks, without even acknowledging how very hard she made it to rent a $450!! cabana. I haven’t been back to the gym since bc I’m just so embarrassed by how I was treated in front of my friends and staff. I was treated in a disheartening way once at Equinox; at least they tried to make it right. I inevitably canceled my membership there and came over to Lifetime SKY which had been great until Nicole behaved negligently, and made us feel like our money didn’t matter.

This Lifetime suffers from all three fatal gym flaws:
1. An incredibly steep fee ($350+/mo), which doesn’t begin to cover all the amenities advertised: want to use the rooftop pool? It’ll be an extra $800/season, plus $200/day for a guest.
2. Lacking modern equipment: machines are often old, broken/out of order, or only have 1 copy in service.
3. Chronic overcrowding, to the point of absurdity during common hours.
The icing on the cake is the attitude from some of the front desk staff, in particular Chris, who has triangulated his personality somewhere between standoffish, surly, and actively hostile: he acts like even making eye contact with you is beneath him. Then again, since the gym is so overcrowded, maybe Lifetime has trained him to ward away potential gym goers at the door with his off-putting attitude.

Not the most comfortable for women. I’ve noticed that this location is overwhelmingly male. Feels like 99% of the members are men here, which is quite different from other locations I’ve been to.

I have a few complaints: You have to pay extra to go to the pool as a signature member? Also in order to bring guests into the pool, I have to pay an additional 125 fee per extra guest I bring, on top of the payment I have to pay for my membership fee, which is 350! What is the difference between Equinox and this when I could just go to Equinox Hudson Yard and being guests for 400! Guess not having friends is a bonus for Life Time members!

I agree with most of the disliked comments. Like their service is very bad. 1.) You can’t pay for membership with their gift card 2.) I get 150 from my work place every month for gym and when I asked the staff if I can pay 150 with one card and the rest with another she told it’s not possible?? How is it not possible to pay with two card so they want me to not use my work card. The place is so packed and there is no difference between blink and life time fitness wait time for a machine.

Lifetime at SKY has been my home gym since 2023, and I also work out at the beautiful Syosset location on weekends. I go to the gym consistently 4-5 days a week, and when I first joined, I loved Sky. But over the past year, not as much.
The staff is great, but Lifetime is selling far too many memberships, making the gym overly crowded. Some mornings, it’s downright discouraging—wait times for machines and weights are too long. Most morning gym-goers are on a tight schedule and need to get to work, so this congestion is a real issue. What kept me at Sky this long was Luis Bravo, the reformer Pilates instructor—hands down, one of the absolute best Pilates instructor / fitness coaches I have ever trained with. Pilates and personal training come at an additional cost on top of my membership, but I gladly paid extra because Luis and my PT from Syosset, Kiernan O'Reilly, are truly exceptional.
Now, with Luis leaving, I’m seriously reconsidering working out at Sky. I may explore other Lifetime locations in the city, but one thing is certain—I won’t be spending another dime on the reformer Pilates program at Lifetime.
Once you’ve trained with the best, it’s hard to settle for anything less, especially at the prices Lifetime charges.

The female front desk workers here are the rudest out of any location, and I go to many of them (I go to the gym nearly every day, to the one wall st, noho, dumbo, and Atlantic locations). Today was my third or fourth time at this location, and I swear every time the ladies at the front desk have so much attitude and are so unpleasant to talk to! This membership is nearly $400, seriously you would think you could at least have kind front desk staff that aren’t snarky and strangely condescending (like I’m paying for this membership? Don’t understand how that makes them feel entitled to speak down to me?) Also, there was literally a bloody tampon on top of the swimsuit drying machine in the girls locker room- GROSS. Visiting this location makes me rethink having this membership.

Disclaimer: NO (free or metered) PARKING ANYWHERE.
One of the behemoth gyms that make LifeTime not only worth it but a good deal. Outdoor sky pool, very nice cafe layout, basketball, etc. biggest problem is- who is it for? Locals. Super local. Like west of 9th Avenue. With no nearby subway and zero parking (tried for 40 minutes) you’re forced to garage your car for obviously a small nyc fortune just to use the gym making it not accessible. Parking right in front is plentiful but despite no signs, everyone said you’d be towed.
Long story short- anyone who isn’t ok with walking a long distance to get here, avoid. This is the Tantalus of LifeTimes.

+One of the better quality gyms around the Hudson Yards area.
+Good indoor pool and great indoor basketball court. Outdoor pool area is also very nice.
+Nice wet room setup with sauna and cold plunge.
+Decent amount of squad racks
+Generally very clean and well looked after throughout
+Kind staff
-Weight area is one of the smallest I have seen for a gym of this size which is a major drawback. It gets very busy at rush hours and they only have two bench presses, two cross-cable machines and only two places to do neutral grip or wide-angled pull-ups which are almost never empty.
-Weight plates are few and far in between. Same as dumbbells. The setup of the whole weights floor feels like it was an afterthought, not very functional.
-Sauna temperature barely hits 180 which is not great if you are after the health benefits that are often researched on saunas at 180+. Also worth noting sauna seating is a single level near the floor and it has a high ceiling which means temperature at where you sit is likely lower than shown.
-Access to outdoor pool requires an extra seasonal fee which is not cheap.
-Locker room/bathroom area is very small for the amount of members who use this branch, has low ceiling which makes the place feel even smaller.
Overall, if you live/work in the area, it is an ok option if most of what you do is classes/cardio. If you focus on strength training and lifting weights, it unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired.

This location seems nice but the amenities are not as nice as most other locations. I went on a weekend to use the spa and pool deck. The spa was a major let down. It is far too small for the size of the gym and it doesn’t help that the spa is co-ed. The cold plunge is minuscule and not worth waiting in line for. The pool deck is supposed to be a nice place to hang out on a sunny day but it is almost impossible to find a seat considering a significant number of seats are reserved but left empty because nobody reserved them. Go for the gym and don’t even shower at this location because I’m sure you have a nicer shower at home.

Struggling to find a decent gym in this area. This doesn’t feel like an actual LifeTime, feels more like a glorified apartment building gym (which in a sense it is). The issue is the equipment floor. They’re lacking a lot of the basics that you find at most gyms. Plus all the machines are TechnoGym - which look super premium but are so awkwardly designed and are a lifter’s worst nightmare.

The review is for the Spa area . The sauna is extremely lacking in heat it gets to about 160 if you are lucky on a slow day on a busy day forget about it . Staff and management seriously need to fix that its hotter outside on a summer day in the city than inside that sauna the worst out of any lifetime in the city . Sauna should be at least 190-200 not 160.
The cold plunge is inconsistent as well at times getting to a temp of 65 degrees which if you use cold plunges is way to warm. The standard is 45-48 50ish if you push it. It is the only thing this gym has going for it and they cant even get it right .

It’s not even 1 star. So called luxury gym never has any space available at the pool. There’s no way making a reservation. There is no one in charge in any given moment. Don’t waste your money here there are much better gyms for 1/3 of the price.

I wish I could rate this Lifetime 5 stars, but unfortunately it has recently become less than 1. I have come at all different times of the day, mornings, afternoons, nights, and it has become so immensely packed with people to the point where it is not enjoyable to be there anymore. I have a membership that allows me to go to any Lifetime in the states, but I don’t think I can continue to go here anymore. The type of people they are also now letting in here make me feel like i’m at a planet fitness. The mirrors are broken, the machines are constantly breaking, and nothing ever gets fixed.

I’m a monthly member who lives nearby. Maybe the bad reviews come from out of towners whose local lifetimes are the size of malls and have parking lots.
This is Manhattan. We make do with more compact spaces and are accustomed to crowds. That being said: I’m here 5 mornings a week. Busy? Yes.
New Yorkers are serious about their gym time. But over crowded? No. Equinox is overcrowded, but not this lifetime.
AND we know how to share space, politely weave into equipment with body language and we respect each others space. This is a quality gym, with quality people. I’ve only been treated with utmost kindness by the staff and other members.
I take off one star because when a machine breaks it takes way too long for repair. Should be 2 days max when space and machines are limited. I’ve waited more than 10 days for machines to be repaired. It’s not life shattering - I use other equipment, but at this price point, repairs should be quick. I’ve also struggled with the broken lockers on the main floor. It seems as if their staffing in regards to maintenance is lacking. Perhaps a new provider? This morning the hinges off of at least a half dozen lockers were broken. Come on guys. We can do better when charging 250+ a month.

I came as a guest, and from someone who's been to many many gyms from low to mid to high tier. The draw for this Lifetime is the roof deck pool, I'm not exactly 100% sure on the formalities of how you can use as a member because you may have to pay $1500 on top of membership for access, and $75 day pass if you want to use. It's an alright outdoor pool space, the service seems to be decent enough and there is enough space to sprawl out a bit. It's New York, you get what you get in terms of outdoor pools.
Now for the rest of the facilities, super cool there's a basketball court and spa services. The workout floor itself is so tiny and seems to be an afterthought. Location of the locker rooms are strange to me and hard to find with little direction so first timers can easily get lost. I wouldn't use this change personally but the outdoor roof deck pool is nice.

Lifetime Athletic at Sky is a great facility and the staff and trainers are all professionals - welcoming, friendly and kind. I've had the pleasure of working with Roman who is a wonderful trainer, personable and a great motivator. Even though this Manhattan location is smaller than other Lifetime's I have visited, it provides a much higher level of service than other gyms I have experienced in the city and packs a real punch for NYC where all spaces are smaller anyway. Everything you need is here to workout, relax or refuel and this location should not be overlooked!

Title: Disappointing Experience at Lifetime Fitness Manhattan
Rating: ⭐️ (1 star)
I am incredibly disappointed with the experience my family and I had at the Lifetime Fitness Manhattan location. As loyal members, we have always enjoyed the facilities and services offered by Lifetime Fitness. However, our recent visit left us feeling unwelcome and frustrated.
Despite checking in just the day before without any issues, we were suddenly informed that my son, who is under 14, wasn't allowed on the premises. The front desk staff's rude attitude and lack of clear communication only exacerbated the situation. Furthermore, we were threatened with police escort and termination of our membership, which was completely uncalled for.
It is disheartening to see such treatment extended to loyal members like us. Additionally, my attempts to reach out to corporate have been met with silence, further highlighting the lack of accountability within the company.
I urge Lifetime Fitness to address this issue promptly and ensure that all staff members are trained to handle situations with professionalism and courtesy. As a member of the Lifetime Fitness community, I expect better treatment and respect from the company.
I hope that by sharing my experience, others will be aware of the potential challenges they may face when visiting this location.

Cafe and hangout spaces are great. They have a co-ed sauna space, but people go into the pools and cold plunge without showering off the sweat.
There are no signs educating people on proper sauna etiquette and I didn’t see a shower right next to the sauna to make it easier to have a hygienic experience.
People reserve recliners with their towels like German tourists on a Mediterranean beach, but don’t take the towels away when done. They also use their phones, including for calls.
They do have one shower that has a handheld, the others seem to be rain showers only. Still wondering how Americans get clean, do they do handstands under the shower?!

This is by far the worst Life Time location I’ve ever been to. The showers close at 9:45p on Saturdays, as confirmed by both the life guards and the front staff member. Yet this rude Spanish woman working here in the locker room was shouting at us when we were asked to leave the pool at 9:27pm that “the water is closing in one minute!!!” Repeatedly. Then she kept harassing us in the locker room that they are closing in 18 minutes and no will will be here as she kept looking at her watch. For the amount of money we spend on membership, you’d the staff could treat members with professionalism and respect rather than hostility. I complained about this harassment to the woman this evening at the front desk and she dismissively confirmed showers close at 9:45 and not 9:30 and seem unfazed about this issue. Horrible experience!!! I’d expect more from life time in NYC… this place is really awful.

March 2024 update:
Adding 1 star due to the great employees that work here. The machines are often in clean conditions and there is more to offer outside in warmer conditions.
Original review:
This location opened around 2016 and it shows -- in particular the lockers, showers and spa areas needing the more attention. Either not enough reinvestment has gone into it, there is a lack of cleaning staff/accountability, or both.
Could be great but as others have said, this location offers a severely degraded experience compared to other lifetimes, or even other gyms with proper management.
If it were not for the cold plunge, I would rate this place 0 stars.

For $299 a month, this gym offers not much. There are only 7 treadmills available, so naturally they are always occupied. Some treadmills are also always broken. In fact, something is always broken here, either a treadmill, or hot water or the door. Classes and instructors are super mediocre. Tried many classes and not a single one stood out to me. Showers are smelly. They also always find a way to charge extra. Pilates classes are extra $40 a session. Extra for pickleball. You can’t also use the outdoor pool area on the weekends (although you are a member) because they’d rather charge the public. Do yourself a favor and go to Equinox. Better quality of service. Better classes.

This gym is overwhelmingly crowded. Good luck trying to find equipment, even during non-peak hours. Every inch of this place is occupied and it feels impossible to navigate without feeling like you're invading someone's personal space (or feel like someone's invading yours). There's only 2 bench presses and 4 squat racks on the main weightlifting floor, and they're usually unavailable. If you find an open machine people will approach you and ask how long you'll be before they can take the equipment, even when you're actively using it. Treadmills are consistently out of order. It's totally overcrowded even by NYC standards. Feels so frustrating to pay such a high monthly fee for gym access and not be able to use the equipment, especially when you don't have a lot of free time. If you're looking for a chill, low-stress workout where you can mostly keep to yourself, this is not it. Going on a different day / at a different time won't help. Good luck.

I’m enjoying my membership at LIFETIME the app makes everything easy to schedule cancel & reschedule classes.
I attended some classes & Tony Ferrari & Joseph W are THE BEST!
The wet area consists of a heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room that’s lined with eucalyptus, whirlpool & ice plunge which is amazing.
Staff is pleasant & there’s a ton of fresh towels all over the place.
Downside:
Policy in the pool area is NO OUTSIDE SNEAKERS which the staff doesn’t enforce Which I find disgusting because I’m wearing the proper sandals and footwear, and I’m watching people coming from the basketball courts walking in the Wet area with their dirty sneakers but I guess that’s it a privilege and entitlement attitude that they have
Jets for the whirlpool broken & I heard regulars muttering that it takes 2 months to fix
LIFETIME CAFE didn’t have mocha for their smoothies despite the attendant saying “it’s one of our best sellers”. What’s the point of not having enough stock of a smoothie flavor? That’s your best seller.
The basketballs in the basketball court area are clearly worn Wilson basketballs and not suitable for even shooting around With as I can’t even get a grip on the basketball. The decent and good basketballs you would have to schedule a private session to get to use the good basketballs, which makes no sense.
I like that the lifetime café has numerous quiet areas in a pool table, which is a plus .

The cafe is an absolute mess, they have been out for bananas for a whole week. I am currently waiting for two shakes, and like every morning this week. I am sat waiting over 20 minutes whilst there are three of them preparing them. We are the only shake order and this is unfortunately consistent for the lifetime team here across the board.
Spoke to management about this twice to give them chances to change it. Nothing has changed

Nice gym but the sauna needs to be fixed.
Heat rises so there needs to be multi level seating. The gaps at the door needs to be fixed as the heat escapes through the gaps. These can be easily fixed with draft stoppers.
I have asked the staff many times to get it fix to no avail. The temperature in the sauna doesn’t get hot enough to have the health benefits. Please fix the sauna.

Former Equinox member here who will mostly like go back. This is my favorite lifetime location because of the spa! Nothing like working out then being able to either, soak it in the jacuzzi, steam off in a nice hot steam room, sit in the sauna or dip in the cold plunge. Unfortunately, lately something is usually not working and it takes a while for them to get it back up and running. Check-in is on the ground floor. Lockers and spa area is on basement/concourse level. Gym is on the 11th floor. Showers are OK. There are only 4 with doors and 1 accessible. Cleaning lady complains that they’re not allowed to clean it that often. Very diverse location. Lifeguards and maintenance staff are mostly young. I would not care so much about greeting any staff but saying hello and then the next time you say hello they don’t speak back. Super Awkward! This has happened many times and I simply don’t get it. Workers utilize the same showers & share the same locker room area with members which is not something I have ever experienced at Equinox. I do not agree with this as I have encountered workers showering before and after their shifts. Employees frequently sit & congregate in the locker room while browsing & having lengthy conversations on their cell phones.

Turkish Hammam and cold plunge are incredible!!! Rachel, taught a sweaty, intense Flow yoga class that was challenging and fun! cooling off in the cold plunge after a heated yoga class was a perfect combination!
the rooftop pool was not available to use, even with my diamond membership. something about an agreement with the condos neighborhood association, and it's an additional pool pass. they wanted me to pay $100 for a day pass! but it wasn't on top of a skyscraper like the photos imply. it's on the eleventh floor of the building and the residences go up higher in a separate tower. pool didn't seem that exciting to be honest. just a shallow leisure pool. (our outdoor pool at home is better with waterslides and fountains and lap lanes.) so.... check out the Turkish Hammam....

It’s really not worth the $270/month price tag. The place is ALWAYS packed, no matter if you go at 6AM, 12PM, or 9PM. Good luck getting any exercise at all if you go at 6PM when it gets more crowded than Times Square. I guess most of the members feel obliged to go as much and stay as long as possible to make the exorbitant membership fee worthwhile.
Most of the staff here are like expressionless robots. (I recommend the management to replace them with actual robots, which would definitely do a better job.) I NEVER ONCE saw any of them smile even though I always greet them nicely. I only ever heard they say things like “tap here” “I said wait a sec”, instead of “hello" "how are you”. Not sure if it’s because they are grossly underpaid or they just really, really hate their job.
The only good thing is that it's located in my building. My lease can't end soon enough so I can move to another building with a decent gym.

Competitive over Community and Pay-to-Play: A Disappointing Shift in LT's Pickleball Approach. A Premium membership at Lifetime is as exclusive and valuable Delta's boarding Zone 1 -- In past months, pickleball at Lifetime (LT) was an enjoyable experience that encouraged a sense of community among players of varying skill levels, and many early intermediate players were present. Unfortunately, that has changed drastically in a remarkably short period of time, and not for the better.
[Update 6/27/23: Bamboozled again by the schedule and undocumented private reservations, that take away what is already restricted time. The website had open play, miraculously, listed from approx 1PM-midnight (I'm aware they close before that), so I assumed they were just blocking out the night for open play. Nope! A private reservation isn't "open". Later, after I spoke with the front desk, I noticed it had changed from open play approx 4-6 PM. Yet still, I was not able to play during this time frame. Ask any of my pickle friends: I was making predictions of similar unfortunate pay-to-play and exclusivity changes at Lifetime well before they took place. Note my comment from the title about the actual value of a Premium membership here. ]
The courts are now oversaturated, making it very difficult for many members to find court time. This problem seems to stem from an aggressive strategy by LT to monetize the courts, disregarding the player experience in the process. In the past month and a half, I've noticed many non-members being invited onto the courts, seemingly a recruiting effort. This has pushed many regular players off the courts.
What's more disheartening is the clear favoritism towards 4.0+ players. The schedule is disproportionally tailored to their availability, leaving minimal options for intermediate and beginner players. For instance, on Friday, June 23, 4.0+ sessions occupied the later evening slots, with only one intermediate session triple-booked at 6PM. If just 6 players showed up per group, that would mean 18 players contending for two courts!
Moreover, the offerings for beginners are restrictive and inconvenient, confined to the early morning hours twice a week - Sunday 10AM and Wednesday 7:30AM. I know of players who are frustrated and feeling sidelined.
An equally bothersome issue is the absence of pickleball from June 15-20, 2023. It seems that the courts, which used to foster fun and inclusive games, have now turned into a competitive, stressful, and exclusive environment, where securing court time feels like a battle.
Expect your Apple Watch to warn you about potential hearing damage. The Personal Trainers from the Alpha class have been non-responsive to requests to turn down the volume, making it almost impossible to hear the score during a game.
In conclusion, I am disappointed with the recent developments at LT's pickleball program. I hope the management takes note of this and implements changes to restore the player experience to an enjoyable level.

Could you believe you are paying $200/mo to “enjoy” broken machines and dirty towels? Treadmills and bikes are constantly broken bi weekly. When towels ran out no maintenance come to refill. Swim lanes specifically require reservations and people still just jump in like they “booked” them. Crazy crowded during evenings around the pool and sauna area. People talk loudly like NYC traffic in the supposed to be quiet sauna and steam rooms. Security/reception at the door don’t really check valid subscriptions and just randomly let groups of people in. Ran away from this!!!

Lifetime Sky misses the mark overall.
It’s a beautiful space that lacks a real workout floor. Compared to One Wall, this place falls flat.maybe allow people to access the Alpha area. It’s not often used. That’s so much unused space.
Now, the one reason I came was for the cold plunge, and that…. Was non operational due to a chlorine and temperature issue.
The one saving Grace was the yoga class with Karfee. Dare I say the best yoga class I’ve taken. Bravo to you Karfee.
Also, I read the complaints on here regarding the front desk staff, all were pleasant when I arrived. Also, the gentleman lockeroom attendant was. a joy.
Would I join this gym as my home club? No. Would I use it as my secondary club? Sure. So much for a flagship.

I do not recommend this gym due to their shady business practices. I spoke with agents at the end of May informing them I’d like to sign up to lock in the monthly rates of $259 before the summer started. I explained I’d be out the country for 2 weeks so I wanted to sign up on May 31st but wouldn’t have time to physically come in until I was back June 10th. The agent Melissa informed me that there was no rush because the prices had just increased so she recommended I just wait until I was back from traveling and that way, they’d pro-rate June since I wouldn’t use it the whole month. I just tried to sign up 6/10/2023 and the rates have in fact increased by $20 a month to $279 + taxes/fees ON TOP of the extra $1400 summer pass to have unlimited access to the rooftop outdoor pool. I requested to speak to a manager but I believe it was just a regular agent who said they can’t honor the previous price I was promised so at this point, it’s better to go with equinox and have access to all their luxurious clubs that include pool access without extra fees. Lifetime gyms won’t outperform equinox in NYC if they keep these practices up. Increasing rates multiple times in a matter of 6 months is just a cash grab. Definitely don’t recommend.

It’s a beautiful gym, but the rooftop pool is separate from the gym. You need to buy their pool club membership. Life time members are only allowed Monday through Thursday after 4 pm. At least I was told that. The people in reception at the sky club and also at the gym have a lot of attitude. Not a welcoming vibe. I was even scared to ask information about where things were. I recently had the pleasure of utilizing the Day pass for the Sky Lifetime Rooftop Pool. I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived until I left, the concierge manager Mellisa went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction.
The service quality provided by Mellisa and her team was truly outstanding. Mellisa was attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist. Mellisa greeted me with warm smiles and made me feel welcomed throughout the entire day.
One aspect that truly impressed me was her responsiveness. Whenever I had a request or a question, her or her team were quick to address it and provided me with accurate and helpful information. When I left for the the she gave me a firm Hand Shake ( almost breaking my hand…joking). But the hand shake was very firm.

This gym has the potential to do so well but after getting a membership here, I can understand why the ratings are so low. TLDR: if you are looking for a proper strength training facility, go to Mid City Tanning 5 minutes down the street instead. It’s cheaper and better.
The equipment here is all brand new, but the gym is evidently run by people who don’t actually workout.
Examples:
The benches have a horrible soft padding that your body will sink into, creating a very unstable platform. In my years of experience training around the world I have never used a bench like this. It’s evidently designed by someone who has never did a bench press in their life.
The floor is filled with equipment but you can’t find a single upright bench to so seated shoulder press. Or a single machine row station. Two very important pieces of equipment that I always see at gyms with much less equipment. Again, evident that whoever designed the gym layout never trained in their life, or they wouldn’t overlook this.
The Alpha Space studio is empty 90% of the day. Yet, members can’t use them, but instead have to be in the packed main gym. Keep in mind the main gym has 4 squat racks while the Alpha Space has 10. So, everyone has to wait for the 4 squat racks perpetually while there are 10 squat racks in the Alpha Space that’s open but not open for use. Now is it because the Alpha Space doesn’t have any staff members? Nope, there is always a staff member there watching, but for some reason they will refuse you to enter and use the equipment, just because it’s not “open gym” yet. There are evenings where the Alpha Space has no classes booked for hours on end, the main gym is fully packed and crowded, and yet you will be denied entry by the very *friendly* staff member.
Not only that, when you try to bring up these issues, the staff becomes incredibly defensive and dismissive. I was told by a very unpleasant staff member that I can just use other gyms if I am not happy with Sky.
You bet I will. Mid City Tanning is 5 minutes away and cheaper by $100 a month. Always they have all the equipment I need and none of these weird bureaucratic issues.

I have just been hired for part time work here. Great people. Great atmosphere. The members are dedicated to improving their lives through healthy living without being totally obsessed or consumed by it. No fads. Just honest work and dedication.

It is the absolutely the crem de la crem of gyms! The gym literally motivates you to work out. I never looked forward to going to the gym until I started here now I run here everyday and I can’t wait to get in.
Amenities are super top notch. And it’s ultra clean. Staff is super nice and very warm hearted and are always willing to help out. Smiles all around. And plenty of good vibes.

Best gym and spa experience in the area. Better than Equinox. If you're going to a premium club, choose LT over Equinox. Better value and experience.

I absolutely love the One Chicago Life Time in Chicago, and figured this would be an equivalent experience while I was visiting NYC. Ha! Wrong. This was a mediocre location, and I wish I had gone to DUMBO or Wall St instead.
The front desk staff were rude, and said that I would need to purchase a day pass (despite having received multiple emails from Life Time saying you can visit any location when traveling) for $20 if I came back.
The locker rooms are underground, and had only two bays of the tiniest lockers I have ever seen at a gym. Showers were large and had great water pressure, but the whole space was otherwise claustrophobic. The hot tub, cold tub, sauna, etc was beautiful but shared between the two locker rooms. I found this arrangement incredibly uncomfortable- it seemed weird to sweat, bathe, etc in front of women.
It was then required to take a slow elevator to the "11th floor", where the actual gym is located. I was very excited by this, but it actually turned out to be the lowest floor above the lobby- definitely not what anyone would call Eleven floors high. Would have rather just taken the stairs lol. The workout facilities are very nice, but tightly packed in so you have little personal space.
I will say, the cafe/lounge space was stunning, and the rooftop (with it's two huge pools) would have been stunning during the summer. However, there is a ridiculous $1,500 a year rooftop fee on top of the $250/month membership (an additional 50% surcharge), so basically forget about that. Part of the floor was also reserved for the building residents to entertain guests, which I found to be a strange location.
Obviously expectations of spaces are different in NYC, but I just felt underwhelmed for the cost of membership. For the same dues in Chicago, we are actually on the 10th floor of the skyscraper, have huge locker rooms with separate thermal suites, child care, parking, a full lap pool, and state-of-the-art elevators where you select the floor on the screen. Our pool fee is also only $700 or so. Will not be returning to this location.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my membership today, because I felt not just unsatisfied, but discriminated against by the services provided.
Basically, there are a lot of successful people going to this fitness center, and if you are not on the top of this chain, they can mistreat you because they have a lot of customers and having just minus one would not make a difference.
I used this fitness center for 4 months, and at the beginning everything was beautiful. I had personal training sessions that were greatly done, I enjoyed the spa procedures.
I started having issues with this fitness center 2 weeks ago, and I have spent at least 15 hours trying to deal with those issues.
I was charged for the Fitness Training App, but this service has never been provided to me. I could not enter the app at the begging as there has been a bug, and then my personal trainer never uploaded my workout program, even though it was planned for me to work out 4 times a week (basically, 8 workouts lost).
Currently, I wrote an email, requesting a refund, and I have a suspicion that I may not be refunded. While a paid quite a lot of this service - 300 dollars.
Today another issue occurred with the LifeTime spa administrator, Bella. I was late for my appointment for 15 minutes. My train did not come on time (weekends, it happens), and I took an Uber to be more or less on time, because otherwise I would be 30 minutes late. When I came, Bella said that she canceled my service because they have a 15 minutes cancellation policy. When I showed her that it was exactly 15 minutes on the clock, she said that it’s already done. My appointment was supposed to last for nearly two hours. While I would fully understand that I would have to pay in full for a reduced service due to the fact that I came late, I do not understand how a professional can look a customer in they eye, hear that the customer took an Uber to get here as quick as possible, and still say, well, sorry, there is nothing I can do.
When I said that this means that I will never use this service again, she simply said - ok.
I am quite sure that if I was one of their “top clients”, she would not have talked in this way with me. I saw quite a few people treated well, but I also heard some very bad reviews about LifeTime services. Now I understand why. If you are not at the top of the food chain, the elite service will show you that you are not yet good enough to be really elite.
I would like to ask other customers to be conscientious of the fact that a group of people can make the same change that one important CEO could do as well. And I would like LifeTime to do some risk-analysis. Basically, I canceled my membership because being charged and not getting the service for two weeks, and getting a rude cancelation without any apologies or assistance in adjusting to a situation is not what can be called an elite service. It is mediocre at best. I will not use this fitness anymore, and also all of my colleagues from a law firm where I work are aware of the situation (about 50 people), because they saw me constantly trying to deal with this app issue. Before they heard about this, they were even thinking of joining LifeTime because they heard how much I enjoyed this place. Also, I am an immigrant, and I constantly have friends (about 40 people yearly) moving to NY and asking what they should or should not use. LifeTime will be on the list of do not use from now on, because today I felt truly horrible. I felt disgraced and discriminated against, because getting rid of me and my membership will not do much. Now, I would like LifeTime to consider that they also lost about 300 potential future costumers. And all that would change this would be polite and not creating a two week issue for the services that someone paid you for.

Love this district, the Silver Towers are great, close to 70-84 Piers, you can go everywhere by boat. One can also rent a bike and ride along the river. Close to Penn station, Madison, Times Square👍🗽🌁

Facility is good, but there is literally hundreds of lanternfly flying and crawling at the entrance of the gym and management is doing nothing to resolve this. I had to pay another 30 days of membership fee to cancel for the gym that I can't even enter.

False advertising on the website. The advertised rooftop pool is not part of the "Full Club Access" - there's no mention about it on the website or in person, only found out when I asked about the pool access. The gym itself is pretty basic and without the pool definitely not worth the $249/month. Staff is is pretty rude and doesn't seem interested in helping customers.

Gym just ok. Very nice outdoor pool and patio. The staff needed to work on their friendliness. Members look predominantly young and white. I found this gym uncomfortable, I would not recommend this gym.

The sky pool is not included with any membership (founders included). You can however get a season membership for $350, but the day rate is $100/person. The website makes it seem like it is included, but it’s not. Other than that disappointment, the rest of the facility is very nice.

We have been lifetime members for quite some time and we have never experienced a worst encounter. We had to take an Uber 30 minutes away to get sent back because the website does not specified that no kids under 15 are allowed on top of it they show beautiful pictures of a pool on the roof which is not for lifetime members but for the luxury apartment tenants. I do not recommend this lifetime.

Deceptivemembership policy. The pool is NOT included with membership and it’s more than $75 A DAY. Without that it’s a good gym but compares as less well-equipped, farther off Equinox.

Very beautiful place with a nice rooftop pool. On the other hand the place is not kept very clean. Staff is not very friendly. And last but not least there is a HUGE rodent problem. Lots of rats running around the gym and the locker rooms. I saw two yesterday playing tag by the showers. Very scary experience
