Rachel is a motivational teacher with a big heart and great sense of humor. We just did chest and back, and I forgot I had an ankle injury the whole time. It flew by, and now I’m blissfully spent! Maqks is also astonishing. I tried to post a second review, but let me add that their class is so motivating and feels so powerful. Way to go with the great trainers, LT!

I don’t really like gym machines so I thought I’d try this. Started with the 2 week trial and couldn’t get enough! I love lifting with Rachel, Jess and Sylvia but every class I’ve tried has been challenging and invigorating!

I walked into the dungeon in 2018 with zero lifting experience. I haven’t looked back. The Liftonic formula hasn’t changed because it doesn’t need to. Leave your ego at the door and put yourself into the hands of some of the most precise group trainers in the city—special shoutout to my Liftonic favorites: Scott, Sylvia, and Bryan.

The best strength training classes I have ever taken. I found Liftonic when I moved to NYC, as I was looking for an approachable but challenging strength workout. I truly look forward to every class and feel so much stronger than when I started. The instructors are also amazing. Shout-out to Kyle, Seth and Madisen!

I can't say enough good things about Liftonic!

The group class format is pure magic. Amazing music to keep you motivated, while the Kyle and Scott make everyone feel welcome regardless of experience level.

Everything is scalable, with modifications for every exercise so you're challenged at your level. The functional strength you build here makes everyday life easier. I've noticed real improvements in my posture, balance, and overall strength. I do the 6:30a class and I leave every class feeling energized for the day. (I'm even trying the 5:30a class!)

I'm obsessed with Kyle's and Scott's classes! I've progressively gotten much stronger and they always set the tone for hard work and concentration.

The early class teams rule! It's a great group of lifters. And I'm even crazy enough to start the new 0530am classes next week with Kyle.

P.S. Glad that Scott wants to teach an 0530am eventually too.

I’ve been coming to Liftonic for years, and Scott is the reason I still look forward to Monday leg day. He pushes you, whether you think you want it or not, and that’s where the growth happens. Never sleep on Scott. He will work you until the last minute of class. Be ready to work!
Scott is deeply knowledgeable, genuinely cares about every person in the room, and somehow keeps it fun (I’m always laughing, even mid-squat). If you want challenging, expert-led training in a community that gets results, Scott at Liftonic is the one.

As a long distance runner, Liftonic has been such a game changer. I consistently go to Scott & Kyle's classes each week and both have been a great addition to my weekly routine through multiple training blocks and high mileage weeks. Highly recommend if you're looking for a straight to the point strength class that challenges you and really utilizes the full class time.

Second time to this place through classpass. Both male and female instructors very nice and knowledgeable. I have more motivation working out in this class than alone at the gym. This class really beat me up in a good way. I definitely felt sore the day after the workout. I love the full body class the most. I like working out with a group in the dark with a mirror. 10/10 would go back again!

Though I've tried many fitness classes around NYC, I've always been extremely fearful of ones that focused on strength training. This was honestly my favorite experience thus far. There's a wide range of weights available, every sequence is demonstrated and explained clearly -- and though the work-out is absolutely killer, the moves themselves are simple / easy to follow. It really is focused on building strength and eliminates a lot of the complexity (and anxiety) that I've found in other strength classes.

My first class was with Bryan -- he is equal parts supportive, hilarious, and motivating. You walk out feeling strong, and physically feel it all over the next day.

innovative and low key studio for weight lifting classes in a group environment. Nicely spaced out benches and plenty of weights. Instructor gets projected on multiple tv screens in case your class is full. We had a trial class with Radan who not only knew his stuff but corrected everyone to maintain their best form to get the exercises right. There’s music, lockers, and a couple of changing rooms. Nice atmosphere in this subterranean space and location is very convenient for various subway train

I’ve been going to Liftonic for almost a year through classpass, and it’s really the only gym I go to now. Im always excited going to Liftonic, and have told everybody how much I love it and to come try it out.

My muscles have grown so much and I feel more confident in the gym and lifting weights. Every instructor is unique but what’s always consistent is meticulous attention to form and pushing you to go heavy! They take the time to correct my form or suggest modifications if something hurts/bothers me when I’m doing a movement. The staff tries to get to know you, making you feel at home. I love that for weights under 25, the dumbbells go up in increments of 2.5lbs. It encourages me to go slightly heavier when a 5lb increase would be impossible to do. Finally, my favorite thing is they focus on time under tension and control. So many gyms say to do as many reps as quickly as possible. You won’t get anywhere with that. At Liftonic, they force you to go slow to maximize your workout and muscle growth.

I’m moving to Philadelphia this summer and I have literal anxiety about leaving Liftonic. I don’t want to lose my gainzzzz. Liftonic, please please please open a studio in Philly!!! I will bring everybody I know to come work out with you.

I LOVE Liftonic.

It's really made significant difference in my body strength, posture, and mind. Before starting LT about a year ago, I had never done weight training and never worked out at the gym because I had no idea what to do (only ever did cardio).

The instructors are great (s/o to Hilary, Veronica, and Radan!). They really guide you through the exercise movements and make you aware of what muscles you should be feeling for each workout. This is SO helpful to someone with very little body awareness.

Since going to LT, I've felt much more in-sync with my body during everyday activities and feel much stronger. It really makes a world of difference. Now, when I have more than a week off from LT my body feels terrible and I can't stand it.

I would recommend LT to everyone. I even took my dad, who's in his late 60s, to a class and he loved it!

Bruh, do you even lift? If you don't go to Liftonic, I doubt it. Group weight training is going to be the next craze. I don't think NYC realizes what a monster this place is.

This is the most underrated, yet effective fitness class in NYC. Weightlifting has never been as intensive yet fun. The lighting is perfect, the exercises are simple, and the movements are super slow. Radan / the trainers will guide you every step of the way using creative dumbell / bodyweight exercises.

As a result, using even a lighter weight will make you super sore. And for women worried about bulking up, don't worry, it won't happen. You don't just magically wake up one day looking like Arnold. And if you do, stop lifting.

The leg/butt day here is the best lower body workout in the city. Across 6-7 exercises, you will work out your butt in ways you or your therapist didn't even think possible. Get ready to be sore for a few days.

Each day is a different muscle group. I highly recommend coming before this place gets discovered by the people in Murray Hill.

On Wednesday, I registered for the 4:30pm Thursday class through another app and then created my Liftonic account and also emailed to verify I was confirmed. Since this was to be my first time, I showed up today at 4:15 pm and told the woman at the front desk that I had signed up through another app and emailed. One woman said that I was not in the list and since she was not in the office yesterday, she didn’t see my email. She said there was a wait list and I had to wait until 430pm to see if I made it into the class.

At 4:30 pm when the class started, there were 6 open spots. The instructor even came out and said she was starting class and there were spaces open. I was #3 of 6 people on the waitlist. The woman at the front desk arbitrarily made the decision that they had to wait until AFTER WARM UP to see if anyone showed up, then after that she would to allow waitlisted people into the class. Not only is this ridiculous that when the class starts they still wait for people who were not present and skip people who are actually in front of them, but making people skip a warm up before lifting any weights is incredibly poor in the fitness industry.

At 4:37 pm she let the first 2 people on the waitlist enter the class. At 4:39 pm, 4 people showed to take the last spots in the class.

This is completely unprofessional- I emailed over 24 hours prior to class and received no response. I showed up 15 minutes early, I waited until after class started. And all she said was “I can’t do anything people signed up.” They didn’t show up until 10 minutes into class!!

Not only did I not receive an email back, which I still have not. But the policy of waiting until after warm up to then throw people into class is absolutely inappropriate and should be reported and taken seriously.

Not to mention- she then tried to sell a package to the remainder of us to purchase so we could take the 5:30 on class. What kind of people are being hired? What kind of training is being provided? And why are potential clients being treated so poorly?

Hands down the best classes I've taken in New York! If you like lifting weights (or want to learn) and care about the technique, this is the place for you. Each day focuses on a different body part, and on weekends they are full body. If you are looking to get into weight lifting then this is your new jam. I have never been big on lifting weights...mainly because I didn't know what I was doing and I really didn't want to be the girl doing the wrong moves with bad form in front of all the gym rats at the gym. A friend told me about Liftonic and suggested I check it out because it may help me become more confident in handling weights on my own. It's located under ground in the Meatpacking area. The studio is dimly lit with benches all around the room. Each area has TVs on the ceiling so that when you are laying on the bench you can see the TVs. What's really great about the TV's is that they show you what the instructor is doing so that you can follow along visually. The instructors are fantastic...especially Courtney and Troy. They really take the time to help you with form and getting the move down correctly. They are also really motivating. I love this place so much that I have brought clients in with me to experience it. I wish they had more locations around the city...I would probably go way more often if they did!

Been taking classes here for about 2.5 weeks and its a very effective workout (great for beginners like me who are scared of weight lifting) and all of the instructors I've taken a class with so far are awesome! I feel like they actually care about your progress rather than just making money like some gyms. Sometimes wish the music was a little quieter as its hard to hear and definitely wish there were showers. Classes are almost always close to capacity so definitely book online. As someone who has played organized sports their whole life I have always brushed off the idea of taking a group class as something that people who don't know how to work out resort to. I couldn't be more wrong about that assumption when it comes to Liftonic, in just one month I have found that the targeted muscle group workouts leave me more sore than any individual workouts that I do alone in my local gym and the results speak for themselves. I've seen a noticeable difference in my strength and flexibility in the past month and would encourage everyone from newcomers to seasoned athletes to try the Liftonic program.

I am a big fan of Liftonic! I recently switched from a nearly cardio-only workout routine to lifting weights, and Liftonic has helped me to expand my knowledge, learn new movements, and keep pushing. I have taken classes with multiple instructors - Courtney, Troy, Radan, Veronika, Lauren, and Scott and have never been disappointed. While each instructor has his her or how own style, each is committed to giving every body in class a great work out *and* individual attention, often helping to perfect form (I especially appreciate that Troy always asks at the beginning of class if you don't want to be touched for form purposes - I think this is really thoughtful and shows he cares about the comfort of the class participants). I go to Liftonic 2/3 times a week to complement a personal training routine, and found that it is a perfect fit -- I am even bringing my personal trainer to a class with me because she finally wants to see the class I always talk about so much!

Great location, in the heart of the Meatpacking district, boutique gym, Always sparkling clean.
Most times you are greeted by a lovely lady who helps you check in, it’s inspiring to see that a fitness business wants to be represented by someone who is over the age of 25. I have taken classes by a few of their instructors, Courtney Paul is my favorite, he keeps the class energized, always challenging to work out with him. Instructors are very engaging and attentive. The work out can be what you want it to be (beginners don’t be shy!) but you’re always encouraged to push yourself and I always leave feeling like I got the most out of my time and money. Favorite studio in NYC at the moment!

I love this studio! I wish more places in NY did pure strength classes that emphasized specific muscle groups. I have bad knees, so it's great to be able to find classes that just work out arms. The coaches are good, and I find that I learn new exercises that I can do at the gym by myself. If only they had showers, it would be the perfect studio.

I love Liftonic. It feels like a low intensity workout, but I end up working so hard, lift heavier each time and can really feel a difference in my strength when I go to class consistently. Unlike traditional cardio (I’m a spinner) where I often gauge my workout on my sweat, in this class it’s the afterburn, how I feel the next day and the results I’ve seen from consistent attendance that keeps me coming back. I’m hoping to do the LT30 in the coming months!

I love Liftonic! I am not a fan of cardio and this class makes you realize that you certainly don't need it to get in shape. I've taken lots of classes and I recently did a month unlimited. I really saw changes to my body in ways that I never have with other classes. I 100% recommend - you won't regret it!

I was on the hunt for a work out class that was motivating and worth the time and money. Thankfully, Liftonic is all of the above. It is unlike any other work out class I have tried in NYC. The instructors are informative and the classes are TOUGH. But if you are looking for a challenge and a change in your body, than Liftonic is definitely for you. The only negative is that there is no locker room and only one dimly lit bathroom.

Liftonic is an awesome studio. I had never done any weight lifting whatsoever and had always been intimidated by it. Liftonic was a great way for me to be introduced into this type of exercise and improve on it. The instructors are all amazing. If you're new to weight lifting in general the LT101 class is a good beginner's class to learn the basics.

best boutique fitness studio around. 50 minutes and straight to the point. Great for women who dont know what the hell theyre doin when it comes to weights and even more amazing for skilled people who weight lift everyday. Classes are small enough so that if youre doing something wrong they can correct you which is great. you dont get lost in the shuffle like other studios. prices reasonable compared to most

A great class for strength training and core work. Because of the variation of the exercises, I'm consistently sore. What I love most about this class is it can be as intense as you want it to be; the flexible weight range means you can go as hard as you want - though the instructors constantly push you. I've found that all of the instructors are good (not the case with many studios). I'd just recommend getting there a little early as the class always fills up and some bench locations are better than others.

The glowing reviews are spot on. Classes at Liftonic are excellent and totally effective. The trainers lead challenging, smart, safe and effective classes - they find the perfect balance between challenging you to work hard while staying attentive to form to ensure you're working out intelligently. While classes are low impact (and have been super useful for me in strengthening while recovering from an injury), I always end up working hard and leave completely sweaty and happy. Classes with Hillary, Veronica and Radan highly recommended!

Beat based lifting...Instructors lead you on the beat, lifting in time with the music. I have definitely noticed a difference in my body in a short time. I get more out of this class than an hour at the gym. They use the phrase, "We're the only studio that wants you to fail."....as in lift to failure. Then your muscles can truly rebuild and make change. Great stuff! Radar Sturm is the brains behind the studio and has the best musicality and a great workout. All the instructors do a fine job. I like how the classes target different areas of the body each day so you can go most days of the week and not over-do it. I'd say it helps to have some experience lifting weights because there are quite a few people in class and they aren't able to correct everyone's form each time. But they're very approachable at the end of class or beginning to ask questions if you need tips on form. Great with modifications too. Class goes by fast!

I'm so happy that I found Liftonic as it's turned out to be an amazing addition to my workout class routine as a strength training component.

The classes are targeted per body part (think: abs/arms, shoulders/legs) or full body. You book a "bench", similar to the way you book a bike (Soulcycle/Flywheel) or a treadmill (Mile High Run Club) at other boutique fitness studios. During the 50 minutes, the instructor goes through a brief warm up/stretching series and then gets into the weights and body weight portion. I've consistently had awesome instructors (Radan - the owner & Lauren Bustos are my favorites) that play great music and the routines are always challenging in the best way possible. I can honestly say that going to Liftonic 1x a week has helped me get stronger and leaner, I love the idea of a purely weight lifting class that doesn't make you feel like you're training for a body building competition.

The studio is dark, modern, and clean, but is lacking some basics that other boutique fitness spots have like showers, a locker room, water refill station (there are mini ones but aren't the best), etc. However, it has not dissuaded me from going there consistently, I have a feeling if they open a new location (uptown - pleeease!) these amenities will be included.

TL;DR: Liftonic is an awesome strength training class with great instructors, routines, and music in Meatpacking. Do your body a favor and take a class.

I've been here several times on Classpass and I think it's great. The classes are as challenging as you want to make them and the environment is open to all levels. I had a friend who tried it a while ago when they were trying to make the classes work with these mechanical adjustable dumbbells that soured her on it, but they've now switched over to regular dumbbells and it's a big improvement. Teachers are great and give a lot of solid info on form. It's the only targeted weights class I've been to in NYC. My only issue is that I wish they had showers. Makes it so I only go in the afternoon after work.
