it’s a good gym, I signed up for the pickleball with a few friends since it’s opened but using the men’s locker room especially the showers is disgusting. I’ve seen flies like 10 to 15 of them just on the walls inside of the showers. I don’t think this gym has a cleaning crew at all.

Tennis programs are poorly run with little to no communication. Finding information like how to sign up for classes, costs, and cancellations is difficult. The last straw was when the league I tried to sign up for (which would have cost ~$1000 for 30 weeks) was cancelled day-of because <4 people had signed up. Courts were also fairly run down, and classes generally used crummy and flat balls. One positive was that the instructors were great, particularly Natalie.

I like the pool here…. Even though there’s been a dead cockroach in it for 4 days straight. However, this is a picture I took of the “steam room.” Does it work? No, and thank god. This looks like a health code violation. Everything in this gym is broken and nothing gets cleaned. There have been items sitting in the locker room for weeks at a time so clearly no one cleans or even brings things to lost and found. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place closed tomorrow with no notice.

Edit: I no longer like the pool here, because i’m now unable to use it. They changed the pool hours indefinitely with no notice to only a 4 hour session at night. Can’t come at night. Stuck in a contract. Ridiculous.

The filthiest, most unsanitary dump of a gym I have ever seen. The weight room is a disaster, old weights, broken weight machines that have not been cleaned in a decade, dirty floors, and the cardio area is terrible with outdated filthy elliptical machines, stationary bikes, etc. The mens locker room was filthy, most of the shower heads are broken, the steam room was out of service, the indoor pool is filthy and the hot tub is out of service and the life guard said it has not worked since he has worked there which is three years. I cannot comment on the tennis courts, but if you are looking to join a gym for weight training, cardio training stay away from this dump. It could not pass a health inspection based on what I witnessed today.

Really terrible gym me and two of my good friends walked in and they immediately refused us access we were highly discriminated for being irish/italian we still ended up going inside after we had too drive home and grab our ids, The place on the inside is extremely unhygienic dirty and really outdated, The staff are so rude and treated us almost as if we weren’t humans I would definitely not reccomend too anyone looking for a decent gym.

Gym is second to none but management has really all but given up on this place. Incredible old and new school equipment but the there is no one working the floor and cleaning up weights and taking care of the gym anymore. Zero etiquette at all, no one reracks plates or cleans up after themselves. It’s sad. If the gym was simply well kept it would be worth an extra 10 a month in my opinion.

This is a horrible gym that is unprofessional and outdated. I have been a member for five years and only use the pool. However in the past few years, the gym has really gone down hill. The pool is often closed and without any notice. Case in point: I went to the gym on New Year’s Eve, only to find that the pool was closed and would be closed through New Year’s. How can a gym be closed for New Year’s??? I even called in advance because the pool is so often closed. The receptionist initially told me that the pool would be open, so I was shocked to find that I had made a useless trip. Communication is lacking, as there is no email, text or posting on Facebook of any changes. As for the facility, the locker room is unheated and gross; the tap water in the locker room is unheated; and the pool deck is unheated as well. Needless to say, the hot tub hasn’t been working for three years. Completely fed up with this gym.
I would recommend that you try a different gym.

I've been a member for over a year. Management promised hot tub would be fixed in 2 months when I joined. They keep on giving me run around and not fixing what is broken. The place is in shambles falling apart. I would not recommend this gym and am so I'm happy with no professionalism.

Have been a long time member. I do like this gym, it has everything you need to stay fit. My only complaint is that they no longer have the staff to walk around cleaning up the weights and occasionally wiping down machines. Heavy weights are left all over the floor, mis-racked and just generally a mess.

Very Very disappointed and upset with LIHR. I spoke with three different people at the East Setauket location. First one advised me I could register two kids for two weeks and flex the days. Then i called to register them and was now told absolutely not. Their website even states "Pay for 4 weeks and you choose the days." Nowhere does it state each child must attend for four weeks. I already had friends sign up their children knowing we were going as well, and now my kids can not attend. They really need to get their stories straight when speaking to potential customers and need to not lie on their website! When I pointed this out I was told "ok well we have been doing this a long time so..." Not sure how that is supposed to help the situation, but I couldn't possibly recommend them after the misinformation via phone and the website.

Quality wise definitely lacking, random pain colors all over the gym. This used to be world gym, which was way better, more machines, more benches, now there’s only 2 adjustable benches with one that has a huge pad on the bottom which makes it almost impossible to use. I would definitely change my review once they purchase good quality benches and adjustable benches, along side of changing the color combinations on the walls, AND BRING BACK THE MIRROR INSTEAD OF COLORING IT ORANGE!!!!

This gym is a great neighborhood resource, and they've done a great job supporting their clients during the pandemic. The only thing I dread when I'm here is the music. Might be nice to try something other than the oldies, 70s anthem rock? Maybe something from the 21st century? If not, perhaps turn it down a little so those of us who bring our own can hear what's coming through the headphones. Thanks and have a great day.

5 stars! If you're on the North Shore you know that no other gym compares. A large gym floor, plenty of cardio equipment, an Olympic size pool and of course tennis. Cheery and helpful staff too!
