This is a yoga studio that cares!π€ As a soon to be physical therapist in grad school, the techniques are flawless and shown to improve pain, and increase mobility through current research! Thereβs great deals and the atmosphere/people are so inviting to all ages! I leave feeling genuinely peaceful and as if a weight is lifted off my shoulders! Yogis of any experience level is welcome. The teachers take the time to get to know each person and give modifications to poses if you have an injury or itβs just too hard. Iβve gotten stronger and slimmer; the poses that were too hard at first has gotten easier and they find more ways to challenge me! I have LESS BACK PAIN, and BETTER CONTROL OF MY PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES after a car accident. Jackie is the owner, (I believe), and she is so kind and always has an answer to everything! All of the instructors are so knowledgeable, kind, and they inspire you to live a better, more mobile life!

This is an excellent place to practice. I've had the pleasure of taking classes from three of their instructors, all of whom are attentive and personable. They're worth every dime and the space is well maintained and clean. The schedule is full of classes and I've never had an issue getting into one. You'll do right by yourself if you sign up.

Mindful Turtle has been around for a long time. I began there years ago and although I have moved a bit away, my teacher training experience and the classes I took there stay in my heart. It is the most easy and welcoming yoga space I have ever been in. The teachers are amazing and attuned to the needs of every student. Highly recommend it= if you want to begin your yoga journey or continue your practice, you will get exactly what you need.

I took my first class here this past Sunday and it was such a great experience! The studio is extremely well kept and the second you walk in, you feel an instant sense of community. Danielle makes an effort to know every person that walks through the door, whether it's your first time or you've been going for years. My instructor was Allyson and I can not say enough good things about her! She has such a charismatic personality and was extremely helpful throughout the entire class, whether it was to grab a block to aid my pose or adjust me slightly. I would highly recommend this studio to all!

While I have very fond memories of the 'little house on the hill' the new studio is so light and airy your spirits lift when you walk in the door. What hasn't changed since the move is the quality of the instructors. They all strive to structure classes to fit the individual students needs. Novice and experienced practitioners will quickly feel at home here. There are several traditions to choose from Astanga, Hatha, Kripalu or Krishnamacharya (Thank you Lisa M for all you have taught me). Come, take a class. Danielle and her staff have so much to offer.

I love the Mindful Turtle. Danielle has created a yoga studio where all eight limbs of yoga are practiced, and everyone can practice yoga. You don't need to be lithe and fit, you don't need to be able to take on a one hour aerobics class, all you absolutely need to be able to do is breathe. I've spent most of my life living in my head and at the Mindful Turtle I'm learning how to inhabit my body, gently and compassionately. I especially love the early morning Mysore class where everyone does asanas together, but at our own paces, in our own time, and with individual adjustments for what our bodies can and can't do. The breathing and mindfulness class is wonderful too, it's a revelation how much effect breath control can have. And I love my individual classes, where Danielle and I work together to build a practice that works for me. I unreservedly recommend the Mindful Turtle to everyone - people with an established yoga practice will find this a warm and welcoming community in which to deepen and broaden it and newcomers will find a similarly warm and welcoming introduction.

I didn't think Mindful Turtle could be any better from the little house on the hill by the train station until they moved to their new bigger and brighter space just down the road. What a beautiful bright space to practice in. It is clean and spacious while remaining intimate. The community of teachers and practitioners is unparalleled. Danielle - the owner - treats everyone who walks through the door likes she's been waiting for them to arrive and welcomes them with open arms.

So fortunate and grateful that THIS is my "hometown" studio. In a little over a year, with Danielle's expert guidance and Mindful's roster of generous yogis, i've gone from a skeptical, depressed 50-something blob to an actual human being with a practice grounded in one of yoga's strongest, most authentic lineages⦠even if you only want to try yoga to feel a little better, be a little more fit -- Mindful Turtle provides a warm, non-judgmental, all-welcoming community of instructors, students and class styles. If you have or want to develop a serious practice, this is absolutely the place for you. Danielle's kind and inspiring leadership in the traditional ashtanga path is all that you need, and then there is the bonus --workshops with some of the most amazing people you will ever meet: Beryl Bender Birch, Christine Hoar, Rolf Gates. MT is home!

Such a great studio!
I traveled to Setauket for a weekend workshop with Beryl Bender Birch, hosted by Danielle and her studio, Mindful Turtle. One of the things that made the workshop so great was the backdrop of the studio- nice facility and lovely people. I look forward to returning for more classes from Danielle.

I have now checked out a few of NYC/Brooklyn's best Ashtanga studios.
With that wider experience here is what i have learned. Danielle Goldstein at mindful turtle, provides a level of Ashtanga individual attention that is outstanding. Danielle gives students at mindful substantial individual time to talk/model/explore/modify/deepen each asana to their individual needs. Her ability to adapt complimenary movements/exercises to efficiently progress each asana, to deepen our understanding of the mechanics of each posture, and to develop our entire primary/secondary sequence is nothing short of of a personal gift to each student. Not knowing any better I took that level of individual attention and mechanical/personal understanding somewhat for granted, i no longer do. I am in your karmic debt.
Namaste ..., Radhe, Radhe....

Mindful Turtle is more than just a yoga studio. It is a wellness center, a healing space. It is warm, welcoming and clean. Danielle, the owner, is an absolutely amazing presence, a strong leader and a mentor to the staff and students. I've been practicing yoga all over Long Island since the nineties and this is the only studio of this caliber I've come across. If you just started practicing, or if you've been working your way along the path for some time, this studio will help guide you further along your yoga journey. Namaste!

Excellent instructors, I couldn't ask for any better. The instructors at the mindful turtle are very in touch with the spirituality of yoga, they know all of the modified postures and positions those with physical limitations/beginners, and the variety of different instructors keeps things fun and interesting.
If you're budgeting, the mindful turtle is very well priced.

We've been practicing at The Turtle for over 4 years now and can't say enough for how much it has added to our lives. In addition to practices with great teachers and we've made great friends there and even get our organic foods!
Danielle runs the place with her customers and their community foremost in her mind and it shows, its a real addition to our area and our lives. Thanks!
