I have been practicing with Bibi for over 3 years. In this time, I have grown immensely both as a practitioner and person. The depth of Bibi’s experience as a practitioner and teacher within the Ashtanga tradition is palpable and infectious. And, the community reflects her commitment to the lineage and the individuals within the lineage (from novice to experienced).

Come to this studio if you’re looking for the benefits of a tailored physical practice grounded in yoga philosophical and spiritual traditions. There’s a special magic here that you won’t find at your average yoga class.

To practice yoga in this setting is exactly what I need. To be able to find your own pace and for that pace to be celebrated is a gift. To be challenged to grow in your practice with encouraging support is wonderful. Kindness, warmth and guidance fill the Newburgh Yoga Shala and each practice session leaves you stronger.

I LOVE this place. I have been looking for the right ‘yoga home’ for me and have found it here. This is a ‘real’ yoga experience.. for those who truly want to learn the principles and philosophies of it rather than seeing it as ‘just’ exercise.

If you are looking for an authentic Shala to practice yoga, Newburgh Yoga Shala is the place. The owner Bibi is as genuine and kind as they come. It shows in the teachers and the teachings she offers at the Shala. This is a must if you have a yoga practice rooted in Ashtanga as well.

I had gone to a lot of Hudson Valley yoga studios for several years, and I didn't know what I didn't know until experiencing yoga as it's taught at the Shala. If you want a fitness class that has a shallow spiritual wrapper, you won't find that here. But if you want a deep practice that can be as energetic or as calming as you prefer, rooted in and informed by the thousands of years old traditions of India, that is what the Shala provides. Your body and mind will be healthier and stronger, because it's not just cued movement, it's guided holistic awareness.

I used to practice Astana Yoga, Mysore at AYNY/ Broom Street Temple in NYC. I moved out of the city years ago to the Hudson Valley and was so happy to know Bibi Lorenzetti was opening a shala in Newburgh, NY. Since then I have found my place in the Hudson Valley to practice. Bibi is a very experienced practitioner, teacher and a great human being, not easy to find.
Thanks Bibi and Newburgh Yoga Shala.

Newburgh Yoga Shala sits on the corner of Renwick and Liberty, where large windows fill the studio with shifting light throughout the day. Inside, a mix of plants, including a tall fiddle-leaf fig, add a natural presence. Photographs from Bibi’s personal practice are subtly placed around the room, honoring the teachers and lineage that guide her, while colorful artwork reflect the authenticity of her path.

Classes are varied and thoughtfully offered: beginner workshops, vinyasa, restorative yin, and the rare Mysore program. In Mysore, each student moves at their own pace with individualized guidance, a practice that requires deep knowledge, devotion, and attention to each person’s journey. This level of care and personalization is very special.

At the heart of it all is Bibi. She has shaped a community where students feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired to explore, deepen their practice, and connect - not just with yoga, but with each other.

What a beautiful welcoming space! I live too far away for a regular yoga practice here, unfortunately, but I have taken class with Bibi, which I loved. And they offer much more than that, I've been to several special events here too, kirtans and special workshops to really deepen my understanding of all aspects of yoga. I'll never miss it when Nina Rao teaches here!

This is not just a yoga studio, it’s a Shala, a blissful space where you can strengthen not only your body, but also your mind and soul. The teachers are deeply knowledgeable and supportive, and the room is calm, grounding, and welcoming. Whether you're new to yoga or have an established practice, this place meets you exactly where you are. I've grown so much physically, mentally, and spiritually since I began coming here. Truly grateful to be part of this community.

This was my 2nd retreat with Bibi. She is an amazing teacher in yoga practice, meeting everyone at their place of need and ability. Her Dharma talks are accessible for all, including those from other faith traditions, recognizing we are all seekers on the journey of life. Paul was new to this retreat, but not new to teaching meditation, providing complimentary lessons to Bibi’s. Our themes of faith, effort, concentration, remembering and wisdom will stay with me as I continue my own spiritual journey.

The quality of teaching is old school great! Class is structured with dharma talk, chanting, accessible mythology, organized and purposeful sequencing, informed hands-on assistance, generous savasana, breathing and meditation. Such well-rounded, even-paced and solid classes are a rare gem. No preaching, no pushiness.

The studios is bright, beautiful, clean, inviting and steeped in bhakti. Every teacher smiles and every class has laughter. Most students are happy regulars who come back many times a week.

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to practice Mysore and mindfulness with Bibi, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. What truly stands out is Bibi's exceptional ability to tailor each posture to individual physical abilities. This personalized approach makes the practice incredibly stress-free and genuinely fun, allowing everyone to feel comfortable and supported.

Beyond the physical practice, I deeply appreciate Bibi's profound understanding of Hindi stories and how she beautifully connects them to yoga practices and daily awareness. Her insights add a rich, cultural layer to the sessions. The chanting before each session is also incredibly helpful for calming the mind and preparing for practice.

The sense of peacefulness and relaxation experienced both during and after each lesson is truly priceless. I highly recommend this studio and Bibi for anyone seeking a deeply personal, enjoyable, and enlightening yoga journey.

Attending this yoga and meditation retreat in Sicily was nothing short of transformational. From the moment I arrived, I felt held, supported, and gently guided into a deeper connection with myself, others and the beautiful surroundings.

Both yoga and meditation teaching were exceptional—There was a perfect balance of structure and freedom, allowing space for both personal growth and collective experience. I felt gently challenged, deeply supported, and continually inspired.

Highly, highly recommended.

Stepping into the Newburgh Yoga Shala is unlike most other yoga experiences I’ve had, and I’ve dropped into dozens across the country. Even as a newcomer, this community has made me feel welcomed and accepted for who I am and where my yoga practice is. With care and consideration, the teachers here have directed me to a better understanding of not just the movements and the meaning behind them, but how to access, accept, and aspire to a better connection between my breath and my body. I leave each class feeling both refreshed and grounded, and little bit more connected with this great community; happier and content to be exactly who and where I am.

Shortly after moving to the Hudson Valley, a yoga friend from Brooklyn recommended Newburgh Yoga Shala, and I’m so glad I took that advice. From my very first Ashtanga class, I knew I’d found the right place. Bibi, the owner and teacher, creates an environment of warmth and deep knowledge, meeting every student where they are—whether they’re beginners or advanced.
The real highlight of this Shala, though, is the community. Every class feels welcoming and supportive. Without it, my first winter here would have been much colder, both literally and emotionally. This place has been a true blessing.

I attended yoga classes for many years on and off. The reason- I can do yoga only in the morning during the business week and at unpredictable time during weekends. I was also looking for teachers who can facilitate effective teaching at different levels - from beginner to advanced students. Yoga Shala has both - multiple classes every day and teachers with outstanding skills. In a year of practice Bibi and her team helped me to change my body, get rid of back pain. And most importantly - I enjoy every time I come to the studio!

I’ve been practicing yoga for about 20 years now, kind of a global nomad of yoga. I never really found a single place that I wanted to settle on. We moved from Brooklyn to the local area 5 years ago and I imagined it would be difficult to find a good local yoga spot. But the Newburgh Yoga Shala is actually my favorite yoga spot of all my years. It’s beautiful with its big arching window and the communal atmosphere is strong. Bibi is an immensely talented teacher as are the other great teachers at the studio. I highly recommend the shala either for a drop in when you’re visiting or make it your home if you live nearby!

This yoga shala is such a gift to the neighborhood. The yoga is vigorous but accommodating to practitioners of all levels. Having studied in India I appreciate that the teaches weave in some of the other limbs of yoga into the classes. They might include a brief 'dharma talk' sharing wisdom from various traditions, some chanting, breathing exercises or a short meditation This creates a more complete practice that nourishes mind, body, and spirit rather than just providing a workout.
Also the people who go there are friendly and open —no cliques or intimidating vibes that you sometimes find at other studios. Bibi, the owner, lives & breathes yoga, she's the real deal but also keeps things fun:)

I discovered Newburgh Yoga Shala while sporadically staying upstate for periods of time over the past few years. Wherever i go, i make it a point to find a studio to practice. From the moment I stepped in, the shala deeply resonated with me. What Bibi has cultivated is hard to describe in words, the community, space, teachers, and the overall energy and feeling is open, warm, and grounding.

The shala is where I discovered and fell in love with Ashtanga, which has had a the most profound and and positive impact on my practice.

I live in the city full time, and despite practicing at many studios both here and other places I’ve lived or visited, nothing compares to the feeling and experience I have at the shala.

Teacher training has been a goal of mine for a while now, but I didn't want to rush into it and have been waiting to find a studio I truly connect with. The shala is that place. I look forward to YTT next year!

As someone who had never practiced yoga before and was honestly a bit skeptical, I can't recommend Newburgh Yoga Shala highly enough. Bibi, Lauren and Carlywill are exceptional and patient teachers who create a welcoming environment for newcomers.

I started with their beginner course and continued with the regular beginner classes. What surprised me most was how challenging yet accessible the practice was, and how it quieted my mind both during and after sessions. The experience was really beneficial.

If you're on the fence about trying yoga like I was, this is the perfect place to start.

When I walked into the Shala I was at a critical juncture in my healing from postpartum depression, anxiety and clinical burnout. Everything I'd been working on and towards seemed to fuse together after my very first class. And then I took my first class with Bibi. I've only been in the presence of three people so far in my life, that seem to fully embody their life's purpose, and Bibi is one of them. You are immediately at home and supported at Newburgh Yoga Shala. It's a beautiful school where you can find yourself, community, friends, physical strength, emotional support. And PLAY! You might come for the yoga, whatever that means to you, but I guarantee you'll stay for the people and the community.
Radiant heat flooring is a pretty sweet bonus for the north east winters!! As are the myriad workshops offered on the weekend so you can deepen your practice. Sign up for that Intro Special, simply show up to breath, and see what happens! xx

A true gem in the Hudson Valley.

Newburgh Yoga Shala is something special! This is a studio that emphasizes authenticity, tradition, and devotion in everything offered. Bibi is not only an incredibly experienced teacher, but someone who lives her practice deeply. Her commitment to honoring the lineage of yoga, especially the Ashtanga tradition, is clear in every class she leads and in the community she’s built here.

It’s not just Bibi—the whole team brings real experience and a shared respect for the tradition. Everyone I’ve practiced with at the Shala has been knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly committed.

Newburgh Yoga Shala is the kind of place I wish existed in my hometown. I visit Newburgh from time to time, and every trip includes a stop here for either a class, workshop, or event.

If you're looking for a studio that takes the practice seriously but still feels warm and welcoming, Newburgh Yoga Shala is it. A rare and valuable space, not just in Newburgh, but in the Hudson Valley as a whole.

My fiancé and I specifically chose to spend a couple of weeks in Newburgh (all the way from Brooklyn...) because of its yoga studio, and what we experienced was an absolute delight! Newburgh Yoga Shala is a hidden gem in the Hudson Valley. The owner, Bibi, has cultivated an amazing community of welcoming teachers and fellow practitioners alike; her studio is a reflection of her years of dedicated practice infused with endless passion and love.

Newburgh Yoga Shala is deeply rooted in Ashtanga yoga and yogic philosophy, offering Mysore practice five days a week, along with daily Vinyasa and Yin classes. On the days when Bibi leads the Mysore practice, she arrives early and chants the Hanuman Chalisa, providing an option for you to join in or begin your practice. Either way, it's a beautiful start to the day.

In addition to Mysore practice, we also participated in a handful of Vinyasa and Yin classes led by various instructors. Each instructor guided us through thoughtful and intelligent classes, accommodating beginners, addressing injuries and physical limitations, and most importantly, exuding authentic kindness. A special shout-out goes to the Yin class that perfectly balanced exertion with relaxation, leaving us feeling as if we were floating on clouds, completely stress-free for the rest of the evening.

Whether you're a local from Newburgh or the Hudson Valley seeking to embark on a yoga journey or deepen your practice, or if you're city dwellers like us in need of a rejuvenating escape, Newburgh Yoga Shala is the place to make your yoga home.

My wife and I recently spent three weeks in Newburgh (from San Francisco) and “found” the Newburgh Yoga Shala. We went there every day, and sometimes twice a day—Mysore in the mornings with Bibi and Vinyassa/Restorative with Eli. Bibi took a personal interest in us and our training which I think comes from her pride of ownership of this unique studio-welcoming us into the Newburgh yoga community. During the daily Mysore practices, she trained everyone from beginners (us) to experts, spending time with each of us in the class. I wish we could go on the Yoga Retreat this summer in Mallorca. There is no question that Bibi and Jacquie will make the retreat an unforgettable experience—between the trainings, the meditations, the resort activities, and the yoga community that they will create.

I’m so blessed to have such a great yoga studio in the Hudson Valley because it was hard to find a great Ashtanga teacher even when I was living in NYC. I’ve been going to Mysore classes in the morning and it has greatly transformed my practice within a few months. I’ve made more progress at the studio than I did in the two years prior.
The studio space is beautiful and has great energy. I’ve been to quite a few classes led by different teachers and I enjoyed all of them. Highly recommend Newburgh Yoga Shala for anyone who wants to deepen their practice.

A yoga studio gem hidden in one of the best kept secrets of upstate New York! The studio is well lit, spacious and grounding. A conveniently located heaven with a welcoming community and knowledgeable teachers.

I stayed in Newburgh for a month just to practice here and would do so again! Congrats on all the future success, Bibi!

PS - An easy train ride up from the city; swing by and get a hip shirt!

This yoga spot is a gem. It popped up just in time to help me reconnect with people and the community after feeling so lonely due to the pandemic.
There are teachers and classes for everyone: if you’re feeling down there are teachers who will lift you up, if you’re missing structure there are teachers to help you find it, if you want to make yoga a way of life there are teachers to show you the way.
Whatever vibe you need to feel wholesome, you will find it here.

I practiced with Día this evening, and although it wasn’t my first time taking her class, I am consistently amazed by what a caring and thoughtful instructor she is.

Besides assisting each student into an alignment that works for their individual body, one of my favorite parts of Día’s class is the way it begins.

She always makes it a point to greet each student by name as they walk through the door, and will often facilitate an introduction between those in attendance.

This simple practice creates such a sense of community, and a warmth that truly extends throughout the class. I have yet to take a class of Día’s where I didn’t find myself smiling, laughing, or leaving with a more positive mindset than when I arrived.

Her classes are such a wonderful contribution to the Yoga Shala. I truly cannot recommend this space enough.

If you love yoga , or are new to it and want to try, I joined Newburgh Yoga Shala and recommend it so highly.
The space is beautiful, the people are lovely & they have a great class schedule. It’s wonderful to support local small businesses and have fun at the same time.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars.

The guidance I received in Mysore has transcended far off the mat. Reminding me to stay in the moment, to not look too far in the future has shifted how I rest in my physical vessel. I feel more contained…more aware of my boundaries. Bibi, thank you for teaching, thank you for being such a wonderful guide. I’m so grateful!

AYNG is a little gem in the hudson valley. Bibi is the real deal! If want to learn classical ashtanga vinyasa, Ashtanga Yoga Newburgh is the place to go. Bibi works with each student one on one making sure you are doing each pose properly. Every time I practice with Bibi I walk out of class feeling relaxed, strong and at peace. I feel very lucky to have her as my teacher.

Bibi embraces the student teacher relationship that is so unique to ashtanga yoga. While ashtanga yoga is a set sequence of postures, every student has different requirements to help them access each posture. Bibi understands these differences and provides individualized guidance at the appropriate pace for each individual.
After practicing yoga for many years and probably causing more harm than good, the past 9 months of practice with bibi has been transformational. Instead of fighting with my body and causing injury, she has taught me to listen to my body. I am finally starting to feel the benefits of yoga that drew me to the practice yet have been elusive for so many years.
I strongly recommend bibi to everyone and particularly beginners.

I started practicing with Bibi a year after she moved to Newburgh. I love having a shala right here in the City of Newburgh that is clean and bright, welcoming to all ability levels, and run by an experienced mentor who can meet students where they are at. Bibi is a patient and accommodating teacher. I am new to Mysore style and she emailed me a bunch of resources so I could study at home and get the most out of her classes. I attended Bibi’s Upstate Retreat this month and learned so much from her Maria Rubinate’s session on Ayurveda.

Bibi is a wonderful woman, teacher & friend. Her warm and loving approach to teaching such a strenuous practice has changed the way I view my daily yoga. AYNB is slowly but surely rising as a great place to practice consistently, with a supporting community. We are lucky to have Bibi in the Hudson Valley area!

Bibi is a compassionate, expert teacher who thinks outside the box. Leading an active lifestyle, I've had many injuries over the years. Bibi has been instrumental in getting me back on track, making the necessary adjustments to help me rebuild strength. I've known her for several years and am thrilled and grateful that she has opened her shala in the Hudson Valley. I also highly recommend her intensive retreats and workshops.

I am a beginner even though I've been going to "yoga classes" for years. Finding Bibi and Ashtanga yoga has been awesome-- Bibi is warm, challenging, and inspiring, tailoring her instruction not only to her students' abilities but also to their attitudes and senses of humor. Ashtanga is ... hard, but the best part is that you can take her instruction home with you and practice on your own. The Shala itself is beautiful, and the variety of her offerings is awesome-- led classes, Mysore style, book club, parent/baby-- we are really fortunate to have a real Shala and super-committed Ashtanga teacher in the Newburgh/Beacon area.

I have been practicing Ashtanga yoga for ten years now. I was so excited when I found that Bibi is a certified teacher. I know how hard it is to become certified in Ashtanga. Only the true dedicated yogis take on the process. So I feel really grateful to have the knowledge and expertise of Bibi so close by. Also I was pregnant when I met her last year and she helped me with modifications of the practice during my pregnancy. Now she has started a mommy baby yoga class once a week that is fun for the babies and also giving moms a chance to have social interactions! Bibi’s studio is filled with warmth and light. I highly recommend it.

Bibi is the real deal: an expert teacher of the postures, interested in learning about the particulars of each student and helping each one grow in their own way in the practice. She also doesn't shove the spiritual dimension of the practice at students, but for those who want it, she's deeply studied in the spiritual aspects and great at sharing them too.

Finally a legit Ashtanga studio in the Hudson Valley! Bibi has studied extensively in India with Sharath and is an advanced practitioner and amazing teacher. Ashtanga is the original yoga and it has helped me my knee and back pain, and my state of mind.
