The staff here is the best. It’s a great workout and you can modify as you need, but what makes this location so great are the people - the coaches and front desk squad are all there to make you be the best you can be.

Inflexible, robotically managed studio. The 5 minute grace period with not even a minute for grace is ridiculous as this is New York City where bus, Lyfts, transport is unpredictable and is always delayed. There is no type of consideration at all and the all the late fees they impose make this a terrible investment. As a grown adult with a demanding job, don't sign up for this studio they will not care nor extend any kind of compassion , just a big money grab on ways to exploit members with these rules. Coaches are great though, just a shame the way it's run doesn't match the way the coaches are. I will not be returning after they turned me away from arriving at 5:06 AM , ridiculous and you are only met with extreme stoic attitudes, no compassion at all. I do not recommend this studio if you are truly busy professional in nyc. Wasted time and money getting here to not be allowed in the class and to have to go to work within a few hours.

I've been doing OTF for the past 5 years and have been specifically going to the UES location for 2 years and I love it! This is the best studio I've ever been to. The front desk staff are so welcoming and helpful and I'm grateful for every single coach I've had here. Special shoutout to Coach Brian, Brad, Arianna, Hancock, Alex, and Lex. Their dedication and effort to coaching is truly inspiring. OTF has helped supplement my training for multiple half marathons and has become an outlet, a form of therapy, and a source of joy. I'm super sad to be moving out of the UES, but I'm thankful for the incredible experience I've had here at OTF UES!

I didn’t exercise much after college but now I’m about to take my 500th class at OTF UE. I spend a lot of time with coach Corinne. She’s more than a gym coach, more like a life coach. She motivates me in and out of the gym & I'm very thankful for her. I try to get in the hour every day according to my schedule, but whomever is teaching the class is fine- they’re all so good & care so much.
I love Shelly, she’s a skilled manager with an upbeat playful vibe. Shout out to Gillian & Kimberly too for their helpful forethought at the front desk. Bets, 56, UES

I started going to OTF regularly about 8 months ago and what a great experience it's been. Everyone at the front desk is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the coaches are all fantastic - they each bring their own individual energy and approach, but are all supportive and inspiring. And the workouts themselves have enough standardization so you have an idea what to expect, but you never have the same workout twice. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to go regularly (4-5 days a week) and going to my morning class has become one of the best ways to kick off my day! And I'm in the best shape that I've been in for at least 20 years, so a nice added bonus.

The crew at UES Orange Theory are full of life, welcoming, and supportive. They make it such a pleasure to come work out and be part of a community. Despite being a HIIT class, it’s very beginner friendly. My wife and I enjoy how the classes are run under a coach but at your personal pace. In addition, there is always space so we’re not accidently smacking the person next to you. In terms of work outs, every day is different with a sprinkle of unique classes / benchmarks every month. I always enjoy my time here and it keeps me consistent for four, five days a week. At this point, I’m nearly at my 250th class. Many thanks and I highly recommend!

I've been to other OTF studios in the past but nothing compares to the UES. I moved to the UES a couple years back and wanted to find workout that switched up my routine and didn't make it boring to come in. In January, I started unlimited classes and I've been hooked since. I'm getting married in June and wanted to get back into the shape I could be proud of. I was never a morning person but now I go to the 610 classes like 4x a week.
Just wanted to shoutout the coaches and front desk. For me, a huge part of a gym or workout is the culture and feeling welcome. From the beginning, it's fun to get greeted by Gillian and Kimberlee. Super friendly and they even take the classes with us, which makes it more fun. As far as the coaches, super motivating, friendly, and their focus is pushing you to make the most out of the class. I know I still have a ways to go but glad Coaches Brad, Brian, Hancock, Jade, and the rest of the crew help me on the journey. I'd recommend anyone going to OTF UES and you'll likely see me in the 610 class if you do.

I’ve done a lot of fitness classes and experiences. Being someone who is a class person over just heading to the gym, I was getting bored with the same spin class or overwhelming weight class with an intimidating environment.
Orangetheory UES provides a space to get a complete workout of treadmill running, rowing, and weight exercises that challenge me and encourage me to push harder!
The coaches and the staff are always a delight to see and keep me coming back. I’m never bored with the classes and always have a great experience.

Nice staff and caring coaches. For more advanced strength training, definitely would not recommend. Not enough heavier dumbbells (30 lbs+), exercises are often too easy/not great for either strength or hypertrophy gains, and when the class is full, it feels like people are on top of one another at the weight area. Don’t get me wrong, OTF is fantastic for those looking for a gentler, more basic workout (with a lot of cardio). But I’d recommend Barry’s (better yet, Fhitting Room on UWS) if you want group fitness that is more challenging and really pushes you hard.

I recently joined Orangetheory Fitness Upper east side and have been blown away by the experience. The high-energy group workouts are challenging yet motivating, and the coaches are incredibly great and supportive. Absolutely love coach Alex, Brian,Hancock, Erin, Josh, Corinne & Caroline.
The front desk is always on courteous and extremely helpful. Joe you’re the best.
The heart rate monitoring system keeps me accountable and pushes me to give my all in every session. The variety in workouts keeps things interesting, and I've already started seeing improvements in my strength and endurance. I am so thankful for OTF UES. Staff and coaches are all so warm and welcoming and constantly pushing (in a healthy way) for members to be their best. They offer so many class times it’s easy to fit in with a busy schedule. Classes vary day to day but you can consistently expect a challenging but doable working (adjustments are always welcome and encouraged if need be). Orange theory is such a bright spot in my day and the UES!
Comments addressing the price and difficulty canceling memberships - you’d be hard pressed not to find a gym with quality coaching and clean equipment/ facilities for a better value. Staff are very upfront about pricing and how to cancel if you aren’t enjoying it. I’ve see people walk in and cancel in person and everyone has been polite.

Location is nice and staff/coaches are enthusiastic and helpful, but there are several important things you need to be aware of before signing up with this gym:
1) Deceptive Business Practices — OrangeTheory posts lots of Instagram ads promising "FIRST MONTH FREE UNLIMITED," but what these ads don't mention is that after the first month you are FORCED to pay $279(more expensive than Equinox!) for an additional month, no matter how far in advance you cancel the membership. Clearly, this is a scheme designed to lure in unsuspecting fitness enthusiasts and then bilking them for ~$300 more than they were expecting. They also make it as difficult as possible to cancel your subscription by having to submit a form, sign lots of contracts just to cancel, and communicate directly with the studio manager instead of letting you cancel immediately via the website/app. Furthermore, staff have charged me for heart rate monitors without telling me that they cost money during the onboarding process or at the point of sale. No gym is nice enough to justify this kind of disrespectful and dishonest profiteering.
2) Injury Risk — If you push yourself to the full intensity that the coaches tell you to push yourself to with any degree of regularity, you WILL injure yourself. Just a matter of when, not if.
3) Aggressive / Harrass-y Marketing — I've spoken to lots of my friends and they've told me that OTF locations they've been to in the past incessantly HOUND them via text/phone calls to get them to come to more classes. There have been class action lawsuits filed against them in the past for these practices.
Overall, I'll never be going to an OTF ever again. Can't justify going to a gym that is going to cause me to injure myself and then does everything in it's power to trick and emotionally manipulate its customers in order to extract every last dollar possible out of them. Incredibly bad vibes.

Joined at the end of September 2022 and I'm past 200 classes because of the motivation from their fabulous coaches and staff! I've lost so much weight and inches off my body because the workouts are challenging but definitely doable. They have really fun benchmarks and challenges each month to make you stay motivated as well! The coaches/staff make every class fun and challenge you in the best way. They work with you in every way possible if you need help or anything modified. The studio is extremely clean and such a fun facility! The instructors are amazing and fun, the staff working the desk are ALWAYS polite, charming, and happy even at 5 AM! This studio has become like a second home to me and I can't thank the coaches and staff enough for everything that they do for the members at this studio. JOIN OTF UPPER EAST SIDE!!!! :D

Absolutely love this studio! Clean, fun staff, great coaches. I never had a coach I didn't like. I absolutely loved Coach Alex P's classes. He was tough, encouraging, and extremely knowledgable. I took Alex's class throughout my entire pregnancy. He modified exercises, when needed, and made sure I was safe. I took his class the day before I gave birth - I knew I was in good hands my entire pregnancy. Can't thank him enough for his help pre-pregnancy and during my entire pregnancy. Can't recommend UES OTF enough!

If you, like me, lack motivation, this can help with accountability. They charge $20 for a missed class if you cancel within 8 hours, so it's easier to just show up, and once you're there it's easier just to exercise.
The one thing I'd mention is that you're not likely to get a full body workout here. It's primarily geared toward high calorie burns and the weight floor isn't the hardest. This is a better supplement to, not substitute for, weight lifting if you're a man.

Orangetheory Fitness is the best investment you will ever make! The classes are challenging and will push you out of your comfort zone to achieve your fitness goals most effectively whether it was muscle building or strength training. The 36 hour after burn is real and the science behind their workouts is 100% true. The energy you carry with you post workout is no joke! When you walk in to the studio the front desk team is the most gracious and best souls you would ever meet. I have taken classes of coach Corrine, Claire, Hancock and Jake and just loved every class. All the trainers will guide you patiently and support you in every way possible. Joined otf on 86th street when they first opened and I’m so glad I did. It is the only workout studio I have seen results and stayed consistent with. The community is unparalleled and so inclusive. I absolutely adore all the coaches and staff. Dom is the most incredible studio manager and truly cares about each member. The coaches are all amazing and consistently push you to reach your goals (Brad looking at you). If you see Carrie and Megan at the front- they are always smiling and so helpful! My wife and I joined Orange Theory in September, 2022 after moving into the neighborhood. We stopped in at the UES facility while investigating fitness options in the area and were impressed with this facility. A very welcoming staff member told us about the availability of a free class before committing to joining. We enjoyed that class and decided to join. We’ve taken classes with Corinne, Arianna, Erin, Jake and Alex and each coach is fantastic, encouraging, upbeat and positive. After each class, I feel energized and ready to take on what the day has in store for me. Each class is different so you won’t be doing the same workouts over and over. There are “challenges” added to to the mix so you get a chance to evaluate the progress you’ve made on the rower and/or treadmill.
The facility is very well maintained and the equipment can’t be beat.

Joined Orange Theory UES in September, 2022 after checking out other gyms in the neighborhood. From the minute I entered the facility, I was greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable staff member who explained how Orange Theory works. I tried out the free class before joining and was immediately hooked. The classes are challenging but always fun. The coaches are terrific and always available to offer advice, provide modifications to exercises if necessary, and offer encouragement all while providing an upbeat and positive workout.
There are people at all fitness levels at this studio and there is a no judgement environment. You are encouraged to work at your pace and achieve your own goals and celebrated for reaching your own personal best results. You want to work hard and give it your all in each and every class. I would highly recommend giving Orange Theory a try if you’re looking for a great place to work out. Can not end without saying that the UES studio is beautiful and clean with top notch equipment.

Orangetheory Fitness UES offers a comprehensive, welcoming, and achievable fitness experience. It combines the concepts of working out in a no-judgment zone, having the guidance of a personal trainer, with both aerobic/anaerobic exercise. It is a space that encourages goal setting and creatively comes up with benchmark achievements that keep you in competition with yourself to improve personal records. I have tried a number of fitness outlets and classes and have easily settled into Orangetheory Fitness UES. It is run by a staff whose enthusiasm and support are sincere and will become part of the reason you keep coming back. For those of us with a weight loss goal, it is such a grand gym to track your progress while being cheered on. The workout variety and instruction again reflect the experience of having a personal trainer. Highly recommend a great alternative for those who may have felt intimidated in other boutique gyms.
