Pedal House is NYC's premier luxury indoor cycling studio. Pedal House was designed for the high-performance mentality. It is for that person that doesn’t want to be basic but wants to be exceptional. The classes are intense. The design was not for everyone, and the classes are always changing. One week might be heavy hills, the next might be speed or some combination of both with choreography. There are no data or numbers, leave your spreadsheet and technology for 45 minutes and find an escape. This is the key to the success of being challenged and Pedal House programing. Pedal House was made to challenge you both physically and mentally.

Edited to add: just read the business response to get a feel for who they are. No wonder they closed.
Instructor was incredibly rude to me first time there. Seems to be a pattern that if you are not a regular they are not welcoming. Beware. Go to SoulCycle or cycle bar instead

Pedal House has become my go-to workout class in NYC. It's a place where I can completely switch off and you sweat like crazy. I love that the choreography is not crazy intense so it’s perfect to follow. And you get better very fast. the pure cycling classes are my favourite.

I made it late to the class (7 min), apologized and tried to see if there was a way I could make it in. But instead of being nice and gentle, the clearly tired and upset long-haired guy at the entrance was super aggressive, stepped in a conversation I was having with the other nice lady and made it about him “having to pay the rent” and “me being late not being his fault”. True, but had you said it with a smile and nicely, I might have come back. Ladies and gentlemen, don’t be late like me but also choose a studio where people aren’t obnoxious!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! For the first time, I can say I found my home spot. Joey has built something incredible. Each instructor is amazing in their own right, but he simply knows how to build people. What a place!!! I love the rules. I read a few reviews, and the same issue keeps coming up. Some people were late and not allowed to take the class. I'm sorry, but I was on time, and I won't let my class be interrupted by someone who can't use Google Maps but seems to have no problem leaving negative reviews. (I don’t need your negative energy.) Thank you, Pedal House, for sticking to your rules.

My own two cents: I decided to give this place a shot on classpass & I didnt really like Joey’s class. I was a first time peddler and nobody even showed me how to use the bike or strap in before class (I showed up early too). Seems like a common thing you would do for beginners. Also was kinda shocked Joey was praising people who were doing “doubles” or two classes in a row and mentioning kale salads during the class. A little toxic?? My sister injured her back overdoing these types of classes so maybe we should try changing the msging or focusing on bike form for beginners would be great…

Extremely disappointed with my experience here. After doing tons of soul cycle classes while on my current post partum journey, I was looking for a mild shift in environment. Reviews led me to Pedal House because everyone compared it so Soul Cycle but even BETTER. I booked my 9:30 class and was so excited. As a single mom it took a lot of effort to find a sitter but with my commitment, I did. I traveled all the way from Brooklyn, over an hour commute! I arrived literally at 9:31 and got turned away. ONE minute late. They refused to let me workout saying it takes 15min to set up, but as an avid Soul Cycle rider, that’s simply not true. With my shoes I would have easily clicked into my bike pedals & been able to join class. I felt a huge lack in empathy, understanding, & compassion. I’ve been having such a hard time post partun that I was really looking forward to this class as a temporary escape that I never got. I couldn’t help but beak down and cry. Kindness goes a long way and I will never ever book with them again. I have over 215k followers on my Tik Tok (FavoriteNutritionist) & I will talk to them about my experience.

Former soulcycle devotee turned pedalhouse fan. This is a family owned business so your success is personal to the team. The owners push hard and don’t mince words so if you are sensitive, it’s not a place you’ll be coddled. I need to be pushed hard so it totally works for me. The choreography is intense but doable with practice. Think bike HIIT bootcamp and you’ll have a better sense of the vibe. They yell at you to push you out of the comfort zone.

Hi, you responded to my review stating you have no record of me taking a class. I was at your studio on 9/19/22. I booked through ClassPass. I checked into your system using my name. I’m not sure if there is a glitch in your system.

This would have been an ok experience if the instructor hadn’t made such a rude comment towards me (he was generally not gracious throughout the entire class). I was obviously sweating a lot during the class and the instructor proceeds to point at me and say “I don’t know what all that is that looks like how you look after a one night stand” right in the middle of class. How humiliating and disrespectful. It was my first time at this studio and I can safely say I will never be back and will never recommend this studio to anyone.
Edit: what does booking through ClassPass have to do with getting harassed during one of your classes? What’s the correlation there?
Edit: what attitude did I give exactly? Pointing at someone and looking at them directly in the eye gives the notion that you are speaking directly to them, which is what you did. Also, what part of that was funny explain the joke because it doesn’t make any sense. Your response to this should show anyone the level of professionalism you possess as a business owner, it’s embarrassing. Masquerading an inappropriate comment as a “joke” also shows more about you as a person and the level of self awareness that you have

If you are a ballerina or model looking for a cross between dance and spin go for it! Otherwise probably not the right fit. More choreography than even soul cycle, Joey gives monologues about how great he is and that Soul Cycle wants him back and Peloton is begging for him but he would kill the simple Peloton housewife’s. As an avid Peloton rider I was offended to say the least. After all I was only there because my regular studios, Flywheel and Peloton are closed! I thought his wife’s class might be better but, she made fun of me after her class not realizing I was standing right in front of her. If she had asked, as she should have as the owner and instructor, if I had an injuries I would have happily told her I had chronic Lyme and knee injuries and physically can’t do some of the moves. I was incredibly disappointed.

Pedal House is a special place that's incredibly challenging but also inspiring and warm. Joey and Nada challenge you individually, something you do not get in other spin/bootcamp classes, and bring you together as a team. If you want to coast and hide in the back, go somewhere else. If you want to get the best workout from an amazing couple, come to pedal house!

Pedal House gives you an elevated workout that you won't find at other spin studios in NYC. The intensity is lifted thanks to the amazing owners/instructors Nada & Joey. They are extremely motivating and push you to your potential, wanting you to come back and see your progress! I have noticed a difference not only in my cycling ability, but physically as well. It's a place that has finally "worked" for me and my body, and I have tried a lot of different workout studios in NYC, specifically spin studios. Pedal House is by far my favorite and the one I have chosen a membership for. I do not regret it and neither will you!

Joey and Nada create an atmosphere of strength, accountability, and caring. Their workouts speak for themselves and show incredible results. I have always struggled with consistency in working out, but after joining this studio, I have learned to hold myself accountable because they hold me accountable and constantly push me to be better both physically and mentally. When you leave one of their classes, you can't help but feel like you've come out a better you (and you also meet some great people.) I can truly say this studio has changed my entire outlook on working out and what I can achieve; I couldn't be more grateful to Joey and Nada for that.

I do not recommend if you use ClassPass or are neurodivergent.
I’m a ClassPass customer. The first time I went it was ok except for that it felt kind of like a cult and no one would really show me where stuff was or how anything worked but I figured it out and had a good work out. The first time I was allowed to wear my shoes. The second time I was told that I had to wear their weird slippery uneven shoes for $5 extra. I tried to be a good sport and wear the shoes. They felt slippery and unsteady on the pedals, I think they are supposed to lock in somehow but it was too dark to see and pedals hit my leg, so I left early to prevent myself from getting hurt. I have sensory issues involving my sense of touch so wearing the shoes was a dealbreaker for me because they are uneven.
I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 because I’m sure they are fine if you book directly through them and have some sort of orientation about how everything works and you are neurotypical. I don’t think they should participate in ClassPass if they are going to charge extra for things that they require for class.

Most challenging yet most rewarding fitness class I've ever taken. Joey, Nada, and team foster an incredible community and push everyone to perform their best. It truly makes working out fun, rather than a chore! It's unfortunate to see negative reviews from people expecting to be doted upon at fitness studios. This is a small local business and I'm happy to support them above a large national brand while being understanding of any hiccups that may arise!

Love the classes at Pedal House. Definitely recommend taking a class with Casey and Joey if you really wanna feel pushed! Always feel like I did my best at the end of the class!
Totally disagree with the reviews that say they're being strict about not letting you in 2 minutes before the class. It's a huge distraction and pain in the butt when folks come in as the class starts or after it starts. We only have 45 minutes, and if you're coming in trying to figure out how to get on the bike, it wastes everyone's time.

I came across Pedal House over the summer, and never looked back. It is one of the few cycling studios in New York that is open and consistently full. I have found the motivation to work out that I never had before from the great instructors at this studio.
The owners, Joey and Nada, have created such a wonderful community of diverse individuals. Every class that I take, I can meet a new friend who will motivate me, as well as, challenge me. I’ve never experienced a spin studio where every class I take, no matter what time or instructor, I see the same groups of people who know everyone by name, yet are actively inclusive of new riders.
Each instructor challenges me in a different way. Tony takes rhythm to a new level and is a great instructor to take for a serotonin boost. Evan has one of the best playlists, and usually has heavier uphill rides. His class and upbeat attitude is my favorite part of Saturday! Casey is the speed queen and a great motivator. Her fast paced spin class is always full of great people. Nada is eight months pregnant and STILL killing it in class. She is such an inspiration. Joey’s class is by far the hardest of them all and worth it. As soon as the class is over, there is such a feeling of accomplishment.
I cannot recommend Pedal House more. It is a great experience for anyone looking for self improvement and community.

After doing the ClassPass tour of different spin studios, I can legitimately say that this is the best spinning studio in the city. The owner, as well as the other instructors, use rhythm based pedaling where you ride to the beat of the song to make for some of the most intense workouts I've ever done. They did a good job building up a community who tend to support each other in and outside of the studio.
The classes here aren't easy nor are they intended to be. If you're new to spinning or even if you've been to other spinning studios, you WILL have a difficult time at first. However, if you are up for the challenge and take these classes consistently, you'll have the opportunity to transform yourself mentally and physically.

I booked through the app classpass and this was the worst cycle experience I’ve ever had. My job has classpass so you know if it’s a clients first time if they’re booking through class pass. The receptionist was very rude and expected me to know exactly where to go. When I told her it was my first time and asked where the lockers were she pointed behind her without even looking at me! Then when the class started the instructor could tell I was having a difficult time and didn’t bother to come and encourage me or help me. If you were to read their responses to people’s comments and experience at this location they are very snarky and rude. Definitely won’t be back. The concept is great it’s the staff. I’ll stick to soul cycle.

I haven't worked out since before the pandemic and have tried everything from SoulCycle to Ryde. Compared to the two, Casey's class at PedalHouse is far superior. I've been going for the past month and you can genuinely tell that Casey cares about her class and helps us with everything from correcting our form to changing the resistance on our bike to challenge us. Her motivational words are also great for morale. Truly one of the highlights of my week. I highly recommend.

Decided to try this studio for the first time and had Casey as an instructor. I’m not a beginner whatsoever and even though their ad and website clearly states they do not suggest new or beginner riders, the class is by no means intense. They suggest they are very difficult and do HIIT work during your ride. This is by far the least intense cycling class I’ve taken.
It is also noted they do not do any stats. Which is fine. Be warned…. All responses from them on any negative reviews is the same “Pedal house is not for beginners and states this in the description”. Silly.
Casey belittled us because we decided to not do the “HIIT” portion and instead pedal. HIIT means high intensity interval training. This means we should get our heart rates spiking, down and back up, etc.
Use of 2-1/2 to 5 lb weights for minimal weight training while NOT pedaling as most were doing is not HIIT. I maintained an average 172 bpm as I rode in an effort to get the most out of cycling indoors. When she asked to stand, I would sprint with higher resistance and when she wanted us back in the saddle, I would lighten slightly but high resistance when sitting. She did not approve of this.
Casey also tried to adjust my resistance as well as my GF’s bike. This is a no-no. You have no idea what the rider is dealing with. Whether they ran a marathon the day before and can do the pace but lighter resistance because their legs are recovering to someone who is more experienced and can use higher resistance at the asked pace.
Casey belittled a spin instructor of 25+ years at a top NY studio. Someone who is an athlete and also teaches actual HIIT classes (not indoor cycling style). So, the regular response of “Pedal House is not for beginners” doesn’t apply here.
We enjoyed the music selection as it allowed us to pedal well to the beat. Also, the person who Casey was belittling also helped a new student get in and out of her pedals, talked to her in the bathroom and gave her words of encouragement. This was not from the instructor. Actually, it was - just not one from Pedal House.
Overall, bad reviews such as instructors throwing fits, walking out of class on their students and making newer riders feel worthless seem to be the norm with this place. However, for us experienced riders and highly experienced outdoor cyclists, you’ll want to avoid this place. You’ll ride circles around the instructors who intimidate even in the ads they post, but will belittle you as to make it evident of their inferiority issues.
Clean studio, bathrooms and showers were nice. Front desk staff was nice and were easy to deal with and got us situated quickly. Even the girl cleaning up after the ride in the bathroom was really nice.
A little better selection of instructors and teaching them that they are coaches and not tyrants would make this place so much better. Being condescending and not knowing your audience makes you not only look silly, but really gets the word out that this is not a place for those wanting a good studio to enjoy spinning and getting themselves better.
You are a teacher, coach, someone who can help others succeed. Positivity is a must and driving someone to do their best isn’t through fear management. You should want people to WANT to come to your studio and ride with your instructors. By the fact that there were several empty bikes on a Saturday afternoon, you might want to figure out how to be positive vs negative and keeping people away.

I was excited to support a small business owner, but the customer service is nonexistent. The front desk didn't even know what an SPD clip was when I asked if the bikes were compatible with them. She said, "I am just the front desk girl." They wouldn't refund me my class because all sales are final which is in their FAQ/Terms & Services. After fighting back & forth with Julia for 2 days via email she said, “Our community isn’t right for you.” That’s one way to get a refund.
Despite what a lot of the other reviews say, Nada & Joey were very nice to me personally. Unfortunately, the overall service just really put a bad taste in my mouth.

Front desk girl was very nice. Unfortunately, my negative review is from the very rude male instructor. Didn’t appreciate that bc I had difficulty getting on my bike, asked for his tutelage he shamed me for being “late”- which I was not. I’m unsure how anyone can sustain a business long-term if you get a bad rep for being nasty to your potential customers. The girl at the front was very sweet. She even suggested I try the female instructor, but the gentleman put a bad taste in my mouth that I won’t even bother giving this place one last chance.

Completely stunned at how rudely we were treated by the owner - Joey today. Cannot speak to the quality of the class - we were denied entry.
My friend & I arrived and were assigned different bike numbers than those emailed to us beforehand, the owner mentioned they don't "assign any numbers before hand" this was fine. But I notified them for future reference in order to not confused customers, that they might want to look into these emails (my girlfriend and I had received emails that we were next to each other 14 & 15). This was my first time here and I was so excited to support a new local studio, I was genuinely offering up advice for improvement. Zero attitude, just a friendly suggestion.
I couldn't believe the owners reaction. He proceeded to tell the front desk person who was half way through charging my card for shoes - to return my card and that I would not be allowed in the class, saying "they're late anyway", he was adamant that they absolutely did not send any emails with assigned numbers and was so offended I even suggested that (see email below). We arrived 3 minutes before class, which understandably is not early but they proceeded to let two people who arrived after us into class, clearly this was just an excuse. Not sure why he felt so attacked by my suggestion and the need to cancel our class. They also still charged me for the shoes that I never ended up using..
I suspect the email was an oversight / automatically generated email which is fine I'm just appalled at the attitude and rudeness. Felt extremely uncomfortable. Since we weren't allowed to take the class - can't speak to the quality of class but definitely not a positive vibe there.
