I started going to Pilates Coven a little over a month ago. I’m someone who has never tried any sort of Pilates before. I’m plus sized and was anxious before my first class, not sure how my body would do. As soon as I told the instructor I was new, they provided immediate reassurance and relief, even checking in throughout and at the end of class to see how I was feeling. I’ve been coming back ever since! I’ve already felt a difference in my strength and mobility. It can be challenging, but so rewarding. All of the instructors I’ve had are so friendly, kind and accommodating. I’m so thankful I’ve found Pilates Coven!

Sabrina and Vanessa’s studio should be the industry standard — it’s owned by a dedicated and inclusive duo and staff are knowledgeable for first timers to advanced clients. It should also be noted that their practices are for all bodies and designed to be comfortable for all.
Their focus on safety, clarity and technique has enabled me to be prepared at any other studio, in the US and even in France. These other studios just don’t compare! 🤍🧙♀️🔮

Very friendly staff, great reformer class. Highly recommendable.
I came back here daily during my NY trip: a perfect basic strengthening, stretching and centering practise adding more physical balance to a lot of walking. Intro packages for 4 classes have you set for a short stay :)

Terrific class - this was my first ever Pilates class and I’m so glad I went. Andrea is so friendly, warm, positive - when I came in she seemed so genuinely happy I was there, and she explained everything so calmly and clearly throughout class.
EDIT: already took a second class, with Sabrina. Another total win of a class. Loved it! Sabrina is super smart, patient, great great teacher. I felt great walking out!

Tried Pilates Coven this past weekend. I’ve never done Pilates before, ever. I wanted to try it and researched a great spot for beginners. I was looking for a class that was open, fun and welcoming to someone in a bigger body. This did not disappoint.
From the welcome, to the intro, to the workout, to the social interactions, to the end of workout check in and the see you later it was great. The class was with Shira, who is delightful. I’ll definitely be back…I just booked my next class.

I have found Pilates Coven to offer exceptional community, a great vibe (with music/lighting/overall tone), and talented instructors. I would describe myself as very new in my practice but I’ve found that you can learn something special from the different styles of the instructors. I especially enjoy the classes with Sabrina, Sarah, and Shira. I think I most appreciate how attentive the instructors are and how they stay in close proximity and are actively supporting and when necessary correcting throughout the entire class. Everyone who works there seems to genuinely enjoy it and seems supported and valued in their work, which is something that makes me really appreciate supporting a small business. I also find the other people who attend to be positive and supportive of one another.
I wish I could attend Pilates Coven more often than I do! But I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a boutique small group fitness class.

Took my open level class yesterday with Andrea, and I could not be happier with the instructor. She was very attentive, her cues were easy to follow, corrected me and made sure I was doing the movements properly and safely. The place is cozy, comfortable, and super-clean. I am very happy with the service I received. I will definitely be coming back for more classes.

I’ve been coming to Pilates Coven for a few months now. I actually chose this studio for my first ever dabble into Pilates. I highly recommend Sabrina’s beginner classes - she is very articulate, caring, and communicative about the reformer, moves, props etc. I received a great base knowledge that within a few sessions, I moved to the all level classes. I highly recommend Sabrina for those as well. I would also recommend Andrea’s classes. She is so great at cueing and gives you many modifications if needed. She is clearly knowledgeable and her classes are always so fun, yet challenging, yet a learning experience about your body and Pilates itself. Give this studio a try!

I love pilates coven! Sabrina and Sarah are my favorite instructors. The vibes here are so welcoming. I feel like with time, I've gotten pretty good at remembering the positions. It’s not a judgemental space - people of all ages, genders, and sizes attend classes.
Just want to update that I've been going to Pilates Coven for over a year now and the space is still really wonderful. Highly recommend trying different instructors - they all bring a different energy and slightly different ways of approaching pilates and it's been really nice to have that different ways of learning/different approaches to consider. Katie is so cool and chill. Natalie is incredibly sweet and calming with challenging classes that make me feel very zen when it's over. It's very worth trying out different folks and asking lots of questions when you're not sure. All of the instructors have been very willing to offer options when I am not super flexible or have a need that makes it hard for me to do things "the regular way".
Overall, a really wonderful place to find a positive wellness experience.

I live in Queens, but I've taken several classes at the Coven because I love the atmosphere here. What a refreshing vibe compared with the typical brightly-lit, loft style studios. Pilates Coven is cozy, comfortable, and well-run. I'm very new to reformer Pilates and I greatly appreciate Sabrina's gentle and helpful corrections, and body-positive practice. As a fat person, I don't feel marginalized in this space, but rather supported, encouraged, and welcomed. I also appreciate that class starts on time. If you can't understand why it's disruptive, distracting, and rude to walk into a class 10 minutes late, regardless of the reason, then you need to adjust your worldview to be less self-absorbed.

I attended two classes at this studio, both with Bianca, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. My main reason for booking here was that it was more affordable through ClassPass, but my experience left much to be desired.
From the start, Bianca made assumptions about my ability to understand English. Instead of repeating herself when I didn’t immediately respond to an instruction, she condescendingly asked, “What is your mother tongue?” For context, I am fluent in four languages and likely speak English better than she does, but her attitude set a negative tone for the class.
While Bianca incorporates some interesting moves, her teaching style doesn’t allow for much exploration or personalization. The pace she imposes left me feeling little resistance or impact from the exercises. What was even more disappointing was her lack of professionalism—during class, she openly gossiped with another student about another Pilates instructor and a competing studio and their management.
The breaking point for me was when Bianca began lecturing me about the culture and politics of the country I was born and raised in, lived there for 27 years - a place she has never even visited. Her tone was disrespectful and inappropriate, to the point that I walked out mid-conversation.
Bianca’s behavior was unprofessional and showed a complete lack of respect for her students. I would not recommend this studio, especially not to first-timers looking for a welcoming and supportive Pilates experience. It’s just a gossip place.

I’ve taken a couple of good classes here and a couple of bad ones. Really depends on your instructor. Recently I took one with Bianca for the first time. She had some weird moves I hadn’t seen before in all my pilates classes, and was pretty bad at articulating the instructions for the movements well. Half of the class was quite confused for a lot of the movements. On top of that she asked me, “how many pilates classes have you taken?? one?? two?” when I had taken maybe 40. She then proceeded to defend herself by saying she just wants to know what’s best for the class, but it was quite humiliating to be singled out and questioned like that. I couldn’t get full range of movement because she wouldn’t let us change the springs, and told us that this was just to “get to know our bodies”. Overall not only was it not the workout I wanted, but it was also not the inclusive environment I had hoped for from this place.

So disappointed :( I was so excited to try a class here but was turned away for being exactly 5 mins late. The bus was late and I was literally running to class to make it on time. After paying for the class and running to make it I’m just so disheartened. It looks like a lovely studio and I would love to come again but the instructor was just so rude about it I don’t really feel welcome. It seemed like such a safe inclusive space so again I’m so disappointed I wasn’t able to try a class with them.

Cannot recommend Pilates Coven enough! The studio emphasizes inclusivity, and all bodies are welcomed. Since coming to the studio I’ve had the pleasure of taking classes with a number of different instructors, there’s a style to suit every need and modifications are always welcomed and accepted. Everyone from the owners to instructors to the other clients are all welcoming and encouraging. I also love that it’s a small, woman owned, business, so your dollars go towards supporting the community. Definitely a studio worth trying!

I showed up to the class thinking this will be a great experience as it’s a plus-size founded studio, but my instructor was not welcoming. I’ve been to other studios before and have never met an instructor that would physically hold your body into the position without asking if that would be okay to do so first. She was not patient and rolled her eyes when students were not doing it correctly. The judgmental tone from the instructor is the reason why people are discouraged from workout classes. I expected a lot more from this studio. I would not go back to this one and would not recommend. Very disappointed in my experience.

I had the opportunity to have a 1 on 1 session with Pilates Coven owner Sabrina and wow! what a great experience! I am new to pilates and also a plus size woman and Sabrina was very patient and kind, encouraging me to push forward during the moments where I struggled and reminding me to breathe and keep going. Upon entering I was greeted warmly from the woman at the front desk and immediately felt welcomed. I look forward to continuing my wellness journey with the Coven! 10 out of 10

I came to this Pilates studio because its classes matched my schedule and what a pleasant surprise, it is an intimate, clean and spacious place, my native language is not English so the guide, the music and the rhythm of the place are very Cozy and comfortable, my favorite classes are with Sarah and Dominique, so they are a gem of the Lower East Side. totally recommended.

The instructor did not let me in to the class as I was 7min late due to rain and 30min subway delays. I planned my whole day based on my pilates class and it took me 1.5 hrs to get there. I’m so frustrated on the wasted effort and time I spent. I recommend a more accommodating approach and reconsidering your ‘lateness’ policies as things can happen out of our control.

Pilates Coven is the REAL deal! Sabrina is by far and away one of the most knowledgeable instructors in the city; she's amazing at modifying exercises when needed, gives very precise cues, and really helps to build your confidence no matter your skill level. Also all of the thought and care that's gone into creating such an inviting, inclusive space really shows. If you haven't tried a class yet, you're in for a treat! :)

I would be very honest about this place since I love Pilates. If you are a beginner, yes, go for it. It would be a great first step. They are gentle, slow and have more comfortable (big, wide, more cushiony) machines than other places. However, I’m pretty sporty, whenever I go, I get frustrated except for one instructor that I’ve been following years from another place. (She works at multiple places). Since their location works better for me, wanted to love this one a lot, but def not for me… my avg workout heart rate is like 150-160bpm and max out up to 170bpm during Pilates… but with them, only 110 bpm haha do you see how chill I am and not fully satisfied from their instructors lol
Anyway, for beginners, I recommend here, if you are somewhat athletic, prob other places. (Unless you have your own favorite instructor there like me, I’m still going only for her class)

If you're looking for an inclusive, non-intimidating and welcoming space to begin your pilates practice, this is it. Owner and instructor Sabrina is so dope, as are the rest of the coven's incredible instructors. Sarah's jumpboard classes are challenging in the best way. The studio offers a comfortable vibe, where the lights are often dimmed, making it easier to focus on yourself and how you connect with the movements. I always walk away from class feeling accomplished, knowing that I took the time for myself. ☺️

When my friend dragged me to Pilates Coven almost a year ago, I literally didn't even know what Pilates was. Pilates Coven is a viiiibe. All of the instructors are amazing and super welcoming no matter your skill level. I have always felt like I belonged. Also who doesn't want to work out with the lights off and the aurora/stars projected on the ceiling?! I am so happy to have found this coven.

The best Pilates studio on the LES. I had never taken a Pilates reformer class before (and it had been 10+ years since I had taken a mat class), but this studio was so welcoming and accessible for a newbie. Sabrina (the owner and an incredible instructor) has built a wonderful community through her vision for an inclusive studio. I try to come at least 2x/week for both my physical and mental health, and I’ve made great gains in my overall fitness. Highly recommend!

I have been following Pilates Coven for months on social media and when I was finally able to make it for a class, I was not at all disappointed! I had a semi-private class with Sabrina and it was amazing. The studio promotes size inclusivity which, as a plus size woman, made me feel so comfortable. Sabrina answered any questions I had thoroughly and promoted positivity the entire class. I had my first private session with Sabrina today and it was amazing. They do the majority of their sessions and classes on Pilates Reformer machines. She knew how to target work to help with my sciatica and bursitis, helping me establish boundaries and then push me to them. It made it so obvious where my body was compensating and that my left side is significantly weaker. I'm hooked!

Pilates with Sabrina is the best!
Whether you’re experienced with pilates or are curious about trying it for the first time, I highly recommend visiting Pilates Coven. Sabrina and Vanessa have put so much love and thought into their new studio and I’m thrilled to support their mission of making pilates accessible and inclusive for all.
I first met Sabrina 8 years ago when she was working at another studio and I loved her right away. She’s the only instructor I could ever imagine doing a 6am class with! Her classes are challenging, but always accessible and super positive. Sabrina is so knowledgeable about what she does and is always in tune with the needs and comfort of her clients.
The studio is cozy and clean and the reformers are the most comfortable I’ve ever used. Definitely give this studio a try!

Thank you for creating an amazing and welcoming space, Sabrina and Pilates Coven!
