I had some concerns about this Planet Fitness location initially, but I’m thrilled to share that they’ve really turned things around!

Previously, the gym struggled with a broken AC, which made workouts uncomfortably warm, and overcrowding led to cleanliness issues with equipment, floors, and locker rooms. However, the team has clearly listened to feedback and taken action. They’ve fixed the air conditioning, and the gym now feels refreshingly cool and safe for workouts. Plus, they’ve stepped up their cleaning efforts—equipment, floors, and locker rooms are noticeably tidier, creating a much more pleasant environment.

The staff is friendly and seems to be working hard to keep things running smoothly, even during busy times. It’s clear they’re committed to making this location a great place to train. With these improvements, the gym is looking really promising, and I’m excited to see it continue to shine.

If you’re looking for a welcoming, budget-friendly spot to work out, I’d definitely recommend giving this Planet Fitness a try now!

The largest muscle in the human body is the gluteus maximus - NOT 1 DEDICATED MACHINE- 28 machines are dedicated to the upper body only 13 are dedicated to the lower body. New equipment coming in all directed at the upper body & again no Glute thrust, lift or drive machine?! This Planet Fitness location is terrible. I’ve tried to transfer to another branch, but they keep giving me the excuse that “the system is down.” Even when I went to the club in person, they used the same excuse. I called for the manager, but they’re either never in the store or always “too busy.” I even sent emails that were never answered. Do yourself a favor and avoid this club unless you want to be stuck here indefinitely.

Overall clean and the staff is always super friendly. However, they have quite a lot of broken machines and some lockers (inside) have the lock hook broken. But the most damaging is the lack of AC. I know this is a low-cost gym. But the lack of AC for the entirety of July is a serious health hazard and has to violate OHSA somehow.

The more I visit other Planet Fitness the more I realize how shitty mine is. The same machines for over 10 years. There are rarely upgrades, something is always out of order, a machine, the tanning bed, the massage chair etc. And now theres been no AC for over a week when temperatures have reaching 100. They claim the HVAC company hasnt showed up. What? So call another company. This is just negligence its a massive corporation with over 20 million members. And they tell us theres fans so we can still come in and work out. But Its literally like a sauna in there, even the employees are sweating and complaining. Working out in these conditions is a liability for members, I haven't been able to work out for 9 days and I'm very unhappy.

This location has had its AC system not working for over 2 weeks now. It is impossible to have a workout. It literally feels like a sauna. I’ve been to several gyms in my life but I have never experienced something like this before. I had to stop my workout because I was on the brink of passing out. This is totally unacceptable especially in the summertime. You are going to KILL SOMEONE with this extreme heat. It’s ridiculous I’m paying a monthly fee when I have not been able to work out in over 2 weeks now. Management don’t care either, I was told “if it’s too hot go to a different gym”. The WORST Planet Fitness Location on Earth!

As of June 24, 2025, this gym has cemented itself as the absolute bottom of the barrel...

First off, the infamous summer High School Program is back in full force, and it’s unleashed pure pandemonium. Teenagers are swarming EVERY machine like it’s a Black Friday sale, leaving weight plates scattered across the floor like a post-apocalyptic junkyard. Sweat stains? Oh, they’re practically a permanent feature on every bench and seat, turning this place into a biohazard zone. And don’t get me started on the litter—empty energy drink cans, crumpled towels, and random wrappers are everywhere, making it feel like a gym crossed with a landfill.

But wait, it gets so much worse...

New York City is in the grips of a brutal heat wave as of 6/24/2025, and guess what? This location’s air conditioning is COMPLETELY BROKEN! The weight room floor is a sweltering inferno, easily surpassing 100 degrees of pure, suffocating misery. The air is thick with body odor and mugginess so oppressive it could crush your will to live. Every rep feels like you’re lifting in a sauna from hell, and good luck catching your breath without gagging. It’s not just uncomfortable—it’s borderline unsafe. I talked to the manager about this, she does NOT GIVE A DARN!

And here’s the cherry on top: the four Smith Machines, the gym’s supposed crown jewels, are a total circus. There’s always a line snaking around them, with people camping out like they’re staking claim to prime real estate. Forget getting a quick set in; you’ll be lucky to use one before closing time. The “no judgment zone”? More like the “no chance zone” for anyone hoping to get a decent workout.

Oh, and don’t even think about escaping the chaos once you’re done—because the parking lot is its own circle of hell. It’s a crater-filled disaster zone, with potholes so deep they could swallow a tire whole. Navigating it is like playing bumper cars with no rules: cars weaving in and out, honking, and jockeying for the few non-destroyed parking spots. Getting in is a gamble, and getting out feels like a high-stakes obstacle course. Good luck leaving without a headache or a damaged suspension.

This Planet Fitness isn’t just bad—it’s a masterclass in how to ruin a gym experience. Avoid it like the plague unless you enjoy sweating buckets in a cluttered, chaotic sweatbox with a parking lot that’ll wreck your car and your patience. I would absolutely recommend the Pelham location to anyone. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the gym and how well the weights were organized and properly racked. The front desk staff was welcoming and courteous, greeting me both upon arrival and departure.

This location stands in stark contrast to others I’ve visited—particularly the one on Gun Hill Road—where weights are often left scattered and used paper towels are left on the floor.

This Planet Fitness truly sets the standard and should be seen as a model for other locations. Thank you for providing such a positive and professional experience.

Been a member for forever and the gym is basically the same. The same equipment, the same look and feel (for good or worse). It's simply too small. Don't go by the pictures as they give the appearance it's a big club. You will wait a long while to use the smith machines and cable flys.

***The club should remove the small parking lot and expand. Make that room just for smith machines or just for free weights. ***

I've been coming to this gym for more than 14 years now (on and off) and i really like its cleanness, its welcoming atmosphere, plus the fact that it has its own parking lot and it's pretty accessible though public transportation. Also, it is not that crowded (most of the time), the majority of people behave quite decent (with a few exceptions) and it's located in a (relatively) safe area of the Bronx. My only reason for 4 stars is the schedule, i understand that the gym doesn't operate 24 hours anymore but i feel like it should be opened until 12:00 midnight instead of 11:00 pm during week hours. I would recommend it..!

I’ve been a member at this location for over 10 years and I enjoy coming here to workout, but today (1/18/25) I had my wallet stolen and it was locked upstairs in the men’s locker room, and I was not alone. As I was reporting the theft to the manager, another member was reporting a theft. This happened between the hours of 8:30-10:30 a.m. So some dirt bag was able to go up there, cut the locks , on at least 2 lockers, and get away. DON’T leave ANYTHING of value in those lockers!

This gym only cares about the money which is crazy because they are ALWAYS out of supplies. No paper towel, bathrooms never stocked but makes sense because their machines are always broken and don’t get fixed within even a month. This is insane and then the nerve when I want to cancel because of these valid issues that never get taken care of and other people complain about too then they want to charge you a EXTRA $60 to cancel. For the price, you get what you pay for. But, as an old PF employee, I know the standard the gym should be kept in, and the workers here are not as work driven and seem lazy. Management definitely seems very lax, at this location. If you come late, there won’t be any paper towels, nor spray to clean the machines. Speaking to the workers about it, they seemed not to care, as no one wants to work out on a sweaty machine after someone else.

First off this location is the best experience I've had with Planet Fitness and I've been to quite a few over the years. You can see the staff constantly cleaning the machines, picking up towels and interacting with guests. I go solely at night and the night crew is amazing. Speaking of the staff, the customer service I received from JOSHUA was 15/10. I left my phone there last night and called frantically hoping to retrieve it. He stuck around for me so I could pick it up. I showed up about 12 mins later while he was cleaning and he was so kind and wished me a good night. Shout out to Joshua. You're awesome.

Not too many people are not working out. Please be careful with your personal belongings. I am not sure how it happened. But one of the women in the gym went into my locker and stole my cash out of my wallet. I am not sure how it happened. I thought that I had locked my locker. I am extremely disappointed with the level of professionalism and customer service at this gym. Every time I’ve attempted to speak to a manager, they are conveniently “never there.” This blatant lack of availability raises serious questions about the management’s commitment to addressing customer concerns.
In my frustration, I took the initiative to email both the manager and the owner of the gym, detailing my concerns and experiences. To my dismay, I received absolutely no response from either party. This complete disregard for customer feedback further demonstrates their lack of accountability and respect for their members. I cannot emphasize enough how important good customer service is, especially in an industry that revolves around personal well-being and satisfaction. It’s disheartening to see a facility that places so little value on their members’ experiences. Don't bother joining. You'll never be able to get a decent work out. Every year they let all kids work out for free. Gym looks more like a park. I am very disappointed. I just rejoined this gym with my husband and one of the reasons I became a black card member is because I be enjoy the tanning booths. My first visit I was informed that not only were both booths not working but was told the service company isn't very reliable a NJ d the booths are out of service much of the time. I found the morning male staff friendlier and more helpful than the stoney female staff. They need to have machine and disafectant strays refilled more often. Most bottles were empty. However you see workers cleaning machines. Some machines were out of service.
A female trainer did not know how the rowing machine worked, I had to spend 15 minutes on YouTube on how to. Planet fitness should think about investing in installing a couple of spinning modern bikes. Nevertheless, it's a good gym for the price.

This planet fitness is pretty good. It had a lot of machines, it was clean, the staff was helpful, they had a trainer available (which hasn’t been my experience yet at a PF thus far) and even the other gym goers weren’t obnoxious lol. My only issue is… the machines are quite cramped. Everything is very close together. Also keep in mind that there is only street parking available.

It’s planet fitness it’s ok but not the best. The local people is what makes the gym a good gym so just make the best of it and don’t make it a social hangout or be a hog. Get your pump! use the machines and keep it moving.
