Location is great, one block away from the 1 train. They have a good variety of machines. Not enough cleaning stations with paper towels and disinfectant spray. People skip cleaning since it's too much work. They usually have at least two of each machine. Unfortunately, people still sit on machines and watch their phones. Now, I understand, taking a break between sets. I don't agree with holding a machine indefinitely. When machines break down, it takes them about a week to fix. I go to this gym not only because it is affordable but also because it's a train ride on my way home and less than a block from the train. Location, location, location

The gym is always filled with gym trainers, each bringing 3 or 4 people all at once, and most of the equipment is taken by them or many sections of the gym is crowded also On top of that, it is always hot on the top floor with one fan, and people are taking the fans for themselves then you add the large amount of younger clients who have no respect for the equipment and most of them all they do is take selfies.

Just moved to the area and I prefer the planet fitness over the blink thats not that far, due to its space and early opening time but it is crazy that there is no air conditioning and you have to work out practically in a sauna, someone could pass out and its just uncomfortable working out in a gym thats literally 80 degrees inside, why hasn't this been fixed? For 2 months its been like this, the fans barely help but for a company with alot of money why can't they fix it. They will have people cancel their membership if we have to continue to workout in a desert.

Extremely disappointing experience. I recently visited the Planet Fitness at 82 W 225th St, Marble Hill at approximately 9am and asked if my child could quickly use the restroom. Before I could even finish my question, the manager, Edward, loudly shouted “NO” from across the counter in a rude and dismissive tone.

I fully understand that there may be policies about restroom use for non-members. However, the way this was handled—yelling at a parent trying to help their child—was completely unprofessional and lacking basic human decency. Situations like these call for empathy and respectful communication, not hostility.

This was especially upsetting because I have family who have worked at this very gym and always spoke highly of its community. Sadly, this experience did not reflect those values at all.

Planet Fitness advertises a “Judgement Free Zone”, but this interaction felt cold, judgmental, and unnecessarily harsh. I sincerely hope management takes this seriously and provides proper training to ensure no other parent or child is treated this way.

There are two levels to this gym. The upper level has all the treadmills and weight machines. The air conditioning on the upper floor does not work. It has not worked for the last month. When I have asked the front desk, they say "tomorrow" it will get fixed. It is absolutely sweltering in there.
Also, if you go during peak hours, you will absolutely have to wait for a treadmill. This used to not be an issue, there used to be treadmills on the first and second floor, but they removed the treadmills on the first floor and never replaced them.

I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you’re considering joining this gym. I was told multiple times by the front desk that I wouldn’t be charged a cancellation fee. I asked three separate times just to be sure. They had me sign on a tiny, scratched-up screen that made it almost impossible to read what I was agreeing to — and despite all the reassurance, I was still charged. It felt deliberately misleading and dishonest.

The overall atmosphere is chaotic. The gym constantly feels like a public market — loud, overcrowded, and poorly managed. It’s hard to focus or feel motivated in that kind of environment. At one point, they were spraying a harsh chemical disinfectant on the cardio machines every 15 minutes. The smell was so strong, it actually made it difficult to breathe during workouts.

Between the lack of transparency and the uncomfortable environment, I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone who values their money, health, or peace of mind.

This is the gym I signed up to and it’s the worst. It’s been a week now with a damaged AC that breaks down weekly. And everyone’s telling me that this happens every summer. It’s horrible. I used to study in Manhattan. This time I was nearby and decided to stop by the Bronx. And I want to say that it's better here than in Manhattan. Great atmosphere, great staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I love that it's close to home and I can walk there. I see that some of the workers clean the machines.

Update:7/9/22
This place has fallen into the worse State that I have ever seen. There is no air conditioning working properly in this place. Yesterday when I was there, there were no lights in the bathroom, and because of the power outage you could not purchase any water. There are very young people working there and I don't think anyone takes them seriously. Summer program does teens had them in there playing tag and misusing the equipment. I'm planning on going to another gym.

Update: NO WORKING REFRIGERATOR! ROOM TEMPERATURE WATER AND DRINKS!

I'm happy to say that there has been a grave improvement in the quality of gym. The staff is amazing. They are very good at communicating and they are on the floor cleaning in a regular basis. This place is super clean. I hope it stays the way.

Has 2 floors. Usually clean (the customers can be messy)& the staff is always cleaning. Even though customers slam the machines & drop weights, the machines work.
***UPDATE***The gym is clean & organized & that is fantastic. The check-in process is fast. The music should be lowered as it is distracting listening to "trap music/negative music". There should be NO gym members taking photographs or video inside the gym, that is a privacy violation. Overall, love having this gym in the neighborhood.

I have no recent experience to review. Why? Simple. I asked to have my membership canceled years ago yet SURPRISE, I'm still being charged random amounts every month. The individual who answered the phone around 8:30 this morning said that I owe hundreds of dollars because of fees, etc. and that I can call back when there's a manager on duty. 1) Are you insane? 2) Why is there no manager? The fact is you had no problem with my enrollment but when I request to terminate my membership, magically "oh, you never cancelled". It's laughable. To top it off, the staff are condescending and clearly aren't empowered to actually DO anything other than accept payments and check people in. The fact that these independently owned franchise locations are not supervised by corporate or supported by corporate customer service is ridiculous. I've had memberships at Crunch, Blink, Equinox and never had this issue. Yet the $20 gym is the one giving me a problem.

I'm disappointed that the gym in New York City doesn't offer 24-hour service. Because of this, I've decided to cancel my membership. Huge problem at this gym is people don't realize COVID was a thing. They don't respect letting someone finish their sets instead of asking to work in they want to start their ghettoness and just hop in when you're not watching. A bit of distance between machines would be great specially when everyone is sweaty and in your personal space, feels like we're breathing each others carbon dioxide at this point. Worst gym I’ve worked out at. There’s always private trainers who use the gym as their own training facility and train whole groups of people for hours, occupying multiple machines, benches and will have 10 sets of dumbbells by them. No one puts equipment back and the people are dirty af, never cleaning any benches after using them. Equipment stays broken for months at a time, paper towel dispensers stay empty. This gym allows dogs. They can be walking near you while you’re trying to lift weights or stretch on the floor. They claim it’s because they allow service dogs. The guy who had the dog wasn’t blind or deaf. Definitely not relaxing.

The staff are nice and I understand that they can only do so much. Still, I wish they would educate some of people there about gym etiquette. First of all, the females (Dominican mostly) tend to hog the smith machines, mostly to do their little squat/deadlift/hip thrust leg routine. This takes about an hour. Then they’ll pass the machine on to one of their friends. This goes on all the time and isn’t fair to other gym goers, especially those who are pressed for time and aren’t there to engage in chit chat.

The Aqua Massage bed has not been working for months and months the sun tanning booth doors don't stay closed the timer on those sunbathing boots are out of whack meanwhile the crew that works there Works feverishly and very hard to make everybody happy corporate needs to step up and back up its employees with working equipment especially for pain members cuz I am about to quit and I am a black card member for quite a few years I like the place but my money is good and plenty of other gyms please do something not just for me but for my fellow Planet Fitness people from customers to the crew that works hard very hard.

Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever received. Please don't sign up for planet fitness. As someone who has been coming here for 2 years almost 3 , I have never been harassed or talked to unprofessionally like this young woman (who claims to be the manager) in this picture did. Both employees came in a very rude demeanor asking that I leave if I did not have “sneakers” , however , there is no sign stating that the shoes I had were not apart of the dress code. Instead of talking to me professionally, the young woman decided to get loud with me, threaten me infront of a whole crowd, and decided to puff her chest up as if she was ready to fight in the moment, as the young man had to hold her back. As a manager, she represents this planet fitness in a UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER. She denied to show me policy, canceled my membership, and also does not show any qualities of a professional manager. As there are signs all over this gym stating no personal trainers, she denied to answer my question as to why she allows it and asked “why does that matter?”. Very unprofessional. Not only did she not provide documentation, or explain all the trainers that are there (GOING AGAINST POLICY, AS STATED) but her and this young man walked off laughing as if getting aggressive was okay to do. I would definitely reconsider this woman for her position as I will be calling cooperate. DO not come to this gym. I believe her name is Jennifer Ruiz. Short Girl with glasses.

This machine have two weeks out of service, and this is the only flat leg curl machine this location have. They're only efficient by adding aggressive policies if you missed payments cycles. For example; they went from 10 days grace period to 2 days, after that, you'll have to pay late penalties. And now they're not 24/7 any longer, so it's time to move on.

This gym at this location is a great gym to workout at. The people are warm and friendly and the staff is helpful and professional.
